Labia majora function

    page views:1  Publication date:2023-05-21
To the average person, the labia majora

, located in the female perineum, are merely two insignificant folds of skin, seemingly without any function.

In fact, the labia majora are an indispensable part of the female external genitalia. In the early embryonic stage, the male and female genitalia originate from the same embryonic bud. As the embryo develops, it gradually differentiates into male and female, and the genitalia show corresponding sex differences. However, some structures and functions remain remarkably similar. The female clitoris is analogous to the male penis, or perhaps a smaller version of it; both have abundant nerve endings and are extremely sensitive to stimulation from the opposite sex. The female labia majora are analogous to the male scrotum. The male scrotum is a loyal guardian of the testicles, playing a crucial role in the production of sperm and male hormones.

So, what are the functions of the female labia majora? They act as guardians of the urinary and reproductive systems.

The labia majora cover the labia minora, vaginal opening, and urethral opening, preventing harmful substances from entering and faithfully protecting the urinary and reproductive systems. The vestibular glands (equivalent to the bulbourethral glands in men) are buried deep within the labia majora on either side of the vaginal opening. These glands continuously secrete mucus to lubricate and clean the vagina, maintaining its ecological balance. The labia majora are the most loyal protectors of these glands. In this sense, the labia majora not only protect the pelvic organs but also maintain overall health. They are also the source of a distinctive odor.

Studies show that women's armpits emit a unique scent that can attract and arouse the opposite sex. The labia majora contain similar sweat glands that emit the same odor. However, the effectiveness of this odor varies from person to person, depending on individual differences in quantity and quality, as well as the sensitivity of the opposite sex.

Some men are very sensitive to this odor, becoming aroused at the slightest provocation, while others may be indifferent. Furthermore, the labia majora can act as a catalyst for marital intimacy. Beneath the fat of the labia majora are the spongy corpora vestibularis, which allows the labia majora to swell like a ball. During intercourse, the labia majora become engorged and swollen, acting like a spring cushion for the piston-like motion, pushing the penis into the vagina.

Furthermore, the swollen labia majora also have a caressing effect, gently guiding and gripping the penis. During sexual intercourse, placing the palm on the inside of the labia majora creates a feeling of tightness. Therefore, the labia majora play an undeniable role in improving the quality of sexual life and strengthening the marital bond.

It is evident that the female scrotum has a wider and more important function than the male scrotum. The labia majora should not be viewed as a mere marker, nor should they be disregarded. Instead, they should be carefully cared for and protected to prevent the invasion of viruses, bacteria, and various microorganisms, ensuring their proper function in safeguarding women's health.
