Suggestions on raising public toilet fees to stimulate the economy

    page views:1  Publication date:2022-06-25
Relevant State Departments:
After five years of in-depth and meticulous investigation and research, I have found that China must raise the fees for public toilets from the current free or 0.2 yuan per use to 50 yuan per use. Raising public toilet fees has many benefits and is of great significance to promoting national economic development. I hope relevant departments will emancipate their minds, seize the opportunity, implement the important thought of the Three Represents, and vigorously promote practical work.
First, charging for public toilets can stimulate domestic demand and boost GDP growth. Currently, our public toilets are severely insufficient. In cities, many out-of-towners struggle to find a toilet, often becoming extremely anxious and sweating profusely. Those with diarrhea are even more desperate, and may accidentally soil themselves. The reason for the shortage of public toilets is low profit margins, failing to attract investment. Therefore, building a large number of high-quality public toilets is an urgent priority. If China were to build 5 million toilets, with each toilet's foundation costing 50,000 yuan and interior decoration costing another 20,000 yuan, the basic construction investment alone would exceed 30 billion yuan. This would greatly stimulate production in the construction, electrical appliance, and decoration industries, driving a leap forward in the national economy.
Secondly, charging higher fees for public toilets can improve China's image and attract foreign tourists. Foreigners also need to relieve themselves, but they don't recognize Chinese characters, and their language is incomprehensible to ordinary Chinese people. If they can't find a toilet, they won't want to come to China again. Foreigners are our source of revenue; if they don't come, it will affect our tourism income. Furthermore, some toilets only charge two cents per use, equivalent to 0.03 US dollars. Such a low price will lead foreigners to ridicule our poverty and backwardness, thus affecting our country's international image. If higher fees are implemented, foreigners will definitely look at us with new respect. Imagine a public toilet owner saying, "Hello, sir, please pay 50 RMB before entering!" Foreigners will think: "Wow, China's economic development is so rapid! 50 RMB for a toilet? Amazing!"
Third: High fees for public toilets are beneficial to improving farmers' living standards. China has 900 million farmers who want to move to the cities. However, due to the scarcity of public toilets, they often can't find one. They might try to use a hotel, but the heavily armed security guards will stop them because of their rustic appearance. Therefore, they often silently endure the discomfort, preferring to suffer a little rather than risk embarrassment. Farmers coming to the city should enjoy the normal right to use the toilet. Due to the rapid economic development in rural areas in recent years, farmers' lives have improved significantly, and they won't care about a mere 50 yuan for their health. Of course, for a few farmers who are financially strapped and unwilling to pay, a discount could be offered. As long as they have an agricultural household registration booklet, ID card, and a certificate issued by the production brigade, after careful verification, a 50% discount could be implemented. Additionally, farmers could be encouraged to avoid peak hours by offering a 50% discount between 9 pm and 5 am the next morning. If all else fails, a simpler, more economical toilet could be added next to each public toilet, with a reasonable discount. This would be a way to care for farmers and laid-off workers.
Fourth: High fees for public toilets can help create jobs. China is building 5 million public toilets, and if each toilet has one person guarding it, it can create at least 5 million jobs. Government agencies can also use this to create additional departments such as a "Public Toilet Construction Leading Group," "Public Toilet Office," "Public Toilet Lighting Office," "Public Toilet Odor Removal Office," "Public Toilet Anti-Slip Office," "Public Toilet Construction Section," "Public Toilet Hygiene Section," and "Public Toilet Guard Qualification Certificate Office," thus avoiding the need for organizational streamlining and staff reductions, and alleviating government pressure.
Previously, university tuition was free; now it's high, which stimulates economic development, despite news reports of fathers committing suicide because their children couldn't afford school. Similarly, public restrooms were mostly free before, but now they're expensive, which will also stimulate economic development. Once people understand the clever logic behind high tuition fees stimulating economic development, they'll understand the same logic behind high public restroom fees. Because people's need to relieve themselves is far more urgent and intense than their need to go to school!
We earnestly request that the relevant authorities give this matter serious consideration!
Sincerely yours
