Who has desecrated love?

    page views:1  Publication date:2021-05-03
These days, even preschoolers around us are all entangled in love affairs. Am I out of touch, or are you all too naive, unknowingly desecrating this beautiful thing...?
What kind of era is this? The poultry on our tables is rich in hormones, and most fruits and vegetables are artificially ripened, causing our bodies to mature prematurely, and consequently, our minds to mature relatively early as well.
Look at kids these days; high school isn't considered early romance anymore, but middle school and even elementary school students are already talking about love. They barely know any words, haven't even lost all their teeth, yet they're constantly shouting "You love me, I love you," sometimes even to the point of hysteria. Whenever I see those kids' pointless whining, I really want to yell at them: "Love, love, love! Do you even know what love is? What are you talking about forever, a lifetime? You can't even tell if two people are a boy or a girl if you leave them there, what kind of relationship is this?!"
Now that love and marriage are free, theoretically, they're all voluntary unions, so the divorce rate should be lower, right? But why is it the opposite (a record high of 53.3% in 2020)? Because love is no longer pure; the result is inevitably chaos. Our parents' generation didn't constantly talk about love and affection, yet they were still very loving. But what about now? People fall in love before anything even happens, and they're already calling each other "husband" and "wife." What used to take years, decades, or even decades is now settled in a few days. Who can guarantee the quality of such love?
In my eyes, the purest love was that between Jin Yuelin and Lin Huiyin, and the truest love was that between Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin. However, the love between Jin and Lin is hard to find now, and the love between Liang and Lin is becoming increasingly rare. There are many people in this world who talk about love, but unfortunately, sincerity is scarce, and those who truly understand love are few and far between. We are not Americans; their love is a habitual, free emotion. When they sincerely say "I love you," it's often in a life-or-death situation or a genuine expression of love. Don't accuse me of being a Westernizer; those who abandon their own culture and cannot understand other cultures are, to put it nicely, incongruous.
Why do so many people stop talking about love when they reach the age of marriage? Some say it's because they've been hurt, others say they've seen through love—these reasons all boil down to losing their desire and faith in love. But who broke whose heart, who desecrated the pure essence of love? The answer must be the other person! The mistake lies with yourself. Who made you succumb to sweet talk, who made you unable to resist temptation, who made you unable to withstand relentless pursuit? Ultimately, it's your fault for easily believing their so-called love. Do you really think love is so simple, so simple that a simple "I love you" can explain everything? Admittedly, I can't fully understand what true love is yet, but I think we should at least have the awareness of "willing to give my life for theirs."
I've never liked love at first sight, but I can't deny that others experience it. However, whether it's love that develops over time or love at first sight, it's not necessarily love. I believe there should be this process: developing feelings—liking—infatuation—love. However, all of this must be based on the premise that we can bear the consequences; of course, I'm not advocating for so-called "conditional love."
In this materialistic society, even pure love has become mired in the mire, repeatedly caught in the crossfire. Such a responsible word is spoken so frivolously by a group of children; the decline of morality has even led to the destruction of the most beautiful things in the world.
In this country devoid of faith, I have always silently offered love as my sole belief, but now I don't know who has desecrated love, making it innocently endorse animalistic sexual promiscuity, thus desecrating my pure faith!
