We'd known a couple in Beijing online for a long time and got along very well, but we'd never had a chance to meet in person. Perhaps it was because of the distance. Actually, there were opportunities to meet; we both had plenty of opportunities to travel for work, but since it was our first time, taking the first step was a bit difficult.
But we eventually found an opportunity and made it happen. First, my wife and I met when she was on a business trip to Hangzhou. A year later, just a few days ago, my wife met her husband for 24 hours while she was on a business trip to Beijing. The process was truly long and special, with delicate and unique details.
Let me start with last year. Her wife (H) was coming to Hangzhou for a few days of training. Upon hearing this, my wife strongly supported my immediate action. She said, "You should do it with someone else first, then I'll consider it." Her husband also called, encouraging me to spend time with H.
H and I often kept in touch via QQ and text messages, and there was a lot of romantic anticipation about this meeting. After agreeing on all the details, we waited for that day.
I didn't sleep well the day before, thinking back and forth, and I was also a little excited. The only slight disappointment was that H texted me saying her period hadn't completely stopped and was lasting longer than usual. "We'll see when it arrives
," she said. It was a Sunday. H texted me after boarding the plane in Beijing; I had about 20 minutes to spare before my departure. Just minutes before my scheduled departure, I texted again that the flight was delayed. She asked if good things come to those who wait. I said yes, no rush.
Finally, after a delay of over an hour, the plane landed at Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport. I easily spotted her at the arrivals gate. We waved to each other like long-lost friends.
Just like in the videos and photos, she had big eyes, curved eyebrows, fair skin, and a good figure. We laughed at each other; she said she looked younger than in the videos, and I replied that she was even prettier.
We got into the car and drove towards Xixi Wetland in Hangzhou, where I had booked a hotel close to the one where she was doing her training. We chatted enthusiastically about our work, families, and living environments. In comparison, I seemed too much of a gentleman; I didn't even touch her hand, and my mind kept wandering—how should I make my move? After all, it was our first time. The traffic was terrible once we entered the city; we drove on and off, and it took almost an hour and a half to reach our destination. After taking her to the hotel where the training was held to check in and collect her materials, we immediately went to the hotel I had booked.
Upon entering the room, I suddenly became nervous. To calm myself down, I said, "You wash your face first, I'll tidy up." I quickly organized my things and opened the window to let in some fresh air. Just then, she came out of the bathroom. We looked at each other for less than two seconds, then simultaneously moved closer, opened our arms, and hugged each other tightly. (To be continued)
