The three-year itch, the seven-year itch, and now ten years later. Here's my perspective on the issue of passion fading after a long marriage. When you're first dating, both of you present your best selves. After marriage, with children and the琐事 of life, you start to wonder where that accommodating person went. When both of you are doing the same little things, conflicts arise. After seven years, as you both age and gain more life experience, especially with the children growing up, you learn to compromise. You might think, "Let's just live like this." After ten years, with children leaving home for university and both sets of parents aging, you naturally start to consider each other's needs. At this point, neither of you can live without the other. While the passion may have faded, the bond is stronger.
