I should say something, shouldn't I?
Reaching middle age inevitably means sipping goji berries from a thermos.
Even so, I'm still a night owl, often going out drinking and clubbing with friends. I enjoy having fun, but I'm the introverted type.
When I see a beautiful woman on the street, I always steal a second glance, always thinking how alluring women are. But that's all; I keep to myself.
I had a close friend in college who, for a while, was frantically studying English. I was surprised and asked him what was wrong. He said he'd fallen for a beautiful girl in the foreign languages department and was learning English to get closer to her. I said, "Damn, is it really necessary to go to all that trouble? You only need to know three words. "
My words jolted him awake. He immediately packed up his textbooks and rushed to the flower shop, leaving me alone in the classroom, bewildered.
That girl from the foreign languages department once said to me at a dance, "You never came close to me, but your eyes told me." I'll never forget the sorrow in her eyes.
Later, I thought, perhaps I found a key, but gave it to someone else. Perhaps I never actually looked for the key.
That day was both happy and sad.
This is the first entry in my diary about 69.
