After an overnight train journey, I arrived at the station during the day.
By then, I had calmed down and stopped running away. I immediately bought a ticket home and called my fiancée, assuring her I wouldn't pursue the matter and hoping she wouldn't let a momentary mistake ruin everything.
Unexpectedly, her attitude changed drastically after learning I had gone to Zhengzhou. No matter how I explained, she wouldn't believe me. She threatened revenge and hung up.
I wondered if she was going to tell my parents and friends; it would be utterly shameful if word got out that we had both cheated on each other before marriage.
I rushed home and subtly questioned my parents and friends, but everyone acted as if nothing had happened. I was still uneasy. I asked her what she was planning.
She finally confessed, saying that her previous affair with her ex-boyfriend was a lie, but this time it was real. My emotions
were volatile in a single day. Between the shame and my wife's infidelity, I surprisingly found it somewhat acceptable.
Even hearing the sounds of my wife being violently raped on the phone didn't stir any emotion within me.
My fiancée came home that night and called me a slut, saying, "Your wife got slept with and you didn't even react. This isn't the last time. I've figured it out, you can't control me anymore."
I said, "We're not married yet, so let's not talk about it. Let's not pursue this further, otherwise things will get messy."
I forgot to mention, my fiancée is a lobby manager at a small local bank, and I'm a government employee. Maybe she was considering the impact on her work and didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
Looking back, what happened was like a movie; I just thought it was interesting and wanted to share it, nothing more.
