Chapter Two: The Century-Old Jade Stone

It was 7:30 PM, half an hour before the jade stone appraisal and betting.

"I'm waiting for you in room 2028!"

The phone rang, and that was all I heard before the other person hung up.

I looked up and saw Shunsuke Takahashi, without Yi-ren beside him, chatting excitedly with a group of friends

.

"What's wrong?"

Yuri leaned lazily against me, asking curiously.

"I'm going out for a bit." After thinking for a moment, I gently patted her shoulder. "You wait for me here, or go

chat with your friends."

"There's nothing interesting to see over there. I'll just rest here and not go anywhere."

Yuri looked at me tenderly. "Go ahead, but come back soon, I'll be waiting for you..."

At my suggestion, Yuri had already taken her jade stone inside for the polishing opening, and I, of course, had decided on the opening's

location —from this opening, at least two colors of her delicate face could be seen.

Originally, the "Unity of All" event was a full gamble, not a contest. However, due to

the high level of this event, with all the guests being extremely wealthy, they all requested that at least one bet be opened,

allowing them make it more interesting and the results more entertaining.

After discussing with the ten super-rich attendees, their request was finally agreed upon, allowing

everyone to see what high-quality stones the participating super-rich individuals would bring out before placing their bets.

I nodded and smiled, then got up and left the hall.

In less than five minutes, I arrived on the twentieth floor and pushed open the slightly ajar door to room 2028.

Seated on the sofa in the luxurious suite was an incomparably beautiful and elegant woman. Just one glance was enough to

make one marvel at the existence of such beauty.

Seeing her delicate brows furrowed in thought, my heart skipped a beat, and I quickly circulated my inner energy to calm

myself down. It was very impolite to stare at my mother-in-law like that.

"Ahem!"

I coughed lightly to indicate that I had arrived.

The stunningly beautiful young woman trembled slightly, snapping out of her reverie. She gently raised her head and, without much formality, asked,

"Mr. Liu, did you really help Baihe find that jade stone?"

"Yes."

"Between hers and mine, which one is better?"

Takahashi Shizuka stared intently at me.

"I don't know."

"Hmm?"

The beautiful woman raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"Both are very good, but we'll only know exactly how good they are after cutting them open."

I spread my hands. "Aunt Shizuka, you don't think I have X-ray vision and can see the details inside, do you

?"

"I told you not to call me Aunt Shizuka!"

Takahashi Shizuka glared at me angrily, though her anger was mixed with an indescribable charm. "I think you're

biased, deliberately choosing the best one for Baihe, leaving us disappointed!"

I inwardly protested. You are my mother-in-law, Baihe is my future wife, both are my family,

how could I possibly favor one over the other?

It's just that this time even I really can't judge the winner, so how can it be considered bias?

"Aunt Jing, you're being too obsessive now. You're nothing like the calm and collected person I first met."

I looked at her earnestly. "Can you tell me what the reason is? Last time I overheard you

talking mentioned that this jade gambling is related to something important for you two, is that right?"

"You don't need to worry about that."

Hearing me mention what happened last time, the stunningly beautiful young woman blushed, her tone carrying a hint of arrogance. "You just

need to tell me, can my jade gambling win against Lily?"

Even Takahashi Jing herself didn't know that ever since she misunderstood my inappropriate thoughts about her, her attitude towards me had

become increasingly worse. In addition, she and I had gone through life and death together... she didn't want that kind of intimacy that happened during an accident to

happen again, so she was determined to stop my thoughts.

Of course, I wasn't one to be bullied, but for Xiao Lü'er's sake, I treated her calmly: "

Aunt , I really didn't know. Besides, this time it wasn't just our two families gambling on stones; ten families were gambling together, and

there were many experts among them. Why aren't you worried about them?"

Takahashi Jing's tone faltered: "Isn't that obvious? Do you think they can just randomly give me a top-quality imperial

emerald ? You only know how to hide your skills all day long. I bet Yuri doesn't know you actually have such good skills?

Yuri certainly doesn't know you're the number one doctor in North America, Dr. Nak, right? Hmm, in Tokyo these days,

Dr. 's identity is very prestigious!"

She brought up the martial arts skills I displayed when I led her and Mako to escape in Osaka Bay, and also reminded her

of the big secret I revealed to Mako in that life-or-death situation.

Especially the big secret that "Dr. Nak is Liu Junxiong." After returning from the brink of death, the beautiful Aunt

Jing didn't mention this matter, and I thought she didn't believe I was Nak, but I didn't expect her to remember it so well

.

As soon as she mentioned it, I immediately recalled the wonderful

feeling equally wonderful feeling of my hand pressing on her smooth, white abdomen when I treated her cold-induced pain…

Thinking about it, I realized that I hadn't forgotten; I had kept those memories in my heart. A faint warmth welled up in my heart as

I recalled them .

The stunningly beautiful young woman blushed after I spoke, instinctively looking at me.

Seeing my gaze turn to her, she felt a sudden fluster and became angry: "What are you doing?"

"Nothing,"

I shook my head and smiled. "Mrs. Takahashi, since we've been through life and death together, you should trust my

character. I can't guarantee anything, but I definitely won't deceive you. If Heaven decrees that you should win this

competition, then you will win today."

"Hmph! I think your skill isn't in medicine or teaching, but all in your words!"

Takahashi Shizuka stood up, inexplicably drawing a conclusion.

A woman in a rage cannot be judged by common sense, so it's understandable that the stunningly beautiful Aunt Jing kicked me out of

the room .

For some reason, even after leaving the room, the image of the ethereal beauty Takahashi Shizuka lingered in my mind

. She truly deserved to be called the most beautiful woman in Japan in the last twenty years!

*** *** *** ***

At exactly eight o'clock in the evening

, over two hundred wealthy individuals and their families gathered on the top floor of the Imperial Hotel.

All eyes were focused on ten round tables in the center of the hall, each containing

ten .

Calling them stones wasn't entirely accurate, because while their surfaces were stone, what they contained within were

not stones at all, but rather priceless, magnificent jade.

Each of the ten stones now had a cut of varying size, and although the locations were slightly different,

the various colors of jade visible through each cut were all too clear.

The wealthy attendees of the "United Wealth Conference" were all extremely wealthy individuals. Given their resources, the rough stones they

selected were invariably of high quality. Furthermore, the appraisers and jade craftsmen they consulted were top-notch

, ensuring precise selection of the opening locations, requiring only two or three polished areas to reveal the jade's color.

From 8:00 to 9:00, the wealthy had an hour to observe and

examine the rough stones before placing bets on their favorites.

Based on the stone's type, appearance, and opening characteristics, fifteen of Asia's most renowned appraisers jointly

determined a suitable odds, which were generally considered reliable.

The six super-rich individuals representing Japan in the competition were Oda Okifumi, Asai Yoshimasa, Takahashi Shunsuke, Teraguchi Kirimoto

, Ii Yuri, and Son Jin-ik.

The South Korean representative was Lee Jong-jun, a member of the Lee family of Samsung, the economic powerhouse of South Korea. At 35 years old, he was the nephew of Lee Jong-jun, the founder of

the Samsung myth, and was considered one of the most outstanding young members of the family, highly

favored by Lee Jong-jun.

The Indonesian representative is Jani, the 52-year-old president of the Indonesian Gas Group. He is remarkably well-preserved, and his family controls

52% of Indonesia's natural gas reserves, as well as exploration rights to hundreds of small islands

. They are among

Indonesia's top ten wealthiest families. The Singaporean representative is also a member of the Lee family, named Lee Lun, who is just over 30. However

, unlike the Lee family in South Korea, while perhaps less economically powerful, his political standing in Singapore is

unparalleled.

Finally, there is a member from Hong Kong, a member of the Manchu imperial family, Aisin Gioro Yusong.

Although Aisin Gioro was the last imperial family in China, its population actually reached over 80,000 in

the 1930s . The surname Aisin Gioro alone is already quite insignificant, especially

after the fall of the dynasty and the advent of democracy, when imperial surnames became commonplace in China.

However, Aisin Gioro Yusong is different. From the Kangxi Emperor onwards, successive Qing

emperors . The character "毓" (Yu) is one of

the four .

It refers to a nephew or niece of Aisin-Gioro Puyi, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty. While Puyi's other nephews and nieces are not particularly special, the key figure is Yu Song. His ancestor was

Prince Su, Hauge, one of the twelve iron-capped princes of the Qing Dynasty, and his father was Puming, Puyi's younger brother, who was deeply favored by Puyi.

Puming was twenty years younger than Puyi. On the eve of Japan's defeat in World War II, Puyi entrusted a large number of

precious to his younger brother Puming, instructing him to go to Southeast Asia to establish a foothold

before he himself went there to continue his comfortable life.

However, things did not go as planned. Puyi was captured by the Soviets and imprisoned in the Soviet Union for five years, followed by

ten years in China. Even after his release, he was unable to leave the country.

Even though Puming had a thousand or ten thousand desires to find Puyi,

he was unable to do so due to the political environment in China at the time. It is said that he died in despair, feeling guilty for not being able to welcome his emperor brother.

Of course, this is a digression, so let's leave it at that.

Puming was a very capable person among the Manchu imperial family. Relying on the large amount of wealth he brought from the palace, he

rapidly developed his business in Southeast Asia. By cultivating relationships with officials in various places, he became one of the wealthiest people

in Southeast Asia —and this was even after he retained most of the palace's wealth. If he had been willing to sell those things,

he would have been the richest person in the world long ago.

Yusong was Puming's fifth son. Adhering to the ancient Qing dynasty tradition, Puming's family line was not separated but

centrally managed. His eldest brother, Yugong, managed the family affairs, while his younger siblings mostly helped

manage one or two companies.

In recent years, Yusong expanded his company to Hong Kong and moved there himself.

Unexpectedly he even came to Japan to participate in the "Unity of All Nations" conference.

These ten wealthy individuals attended the "Unity of All" event, and the ten rough stones they brought were all carefully selected, truly extraordinary.

Oda Okifumi's was a rough stone from the Moru mine.

Moru rough stones are very famous, renowned for their excellent texture, clarity, and color. The only drawback is that they rarely form large

pieces , often fragmented into small pieces, significantly reducing the value of the jadeite.

Oda Okifumi's piece was 200 centimeters long, 1 meter wide, and 1 meter high. The area exposed by polishing alone was

the size of an adult's fist. The green was thick and rich, with at least 80% clarity deep within, a vibrant green. Combined with its

excellent texture, its estimated value was at least five million US dollars. If the entire piece were twice the size, its value would

increase by at least three to five times.

Oda Okifumi's old rival, Asai Yoshimasa, also brought a very good rough stone, from the old mine with a karst top

.

This rough stone has a typical appearance, commonly known as "garlic skin with iron dragon," referring to its white-red

outer shell with a captivating luster, a sign of high jadeite content.

Indeed, a palm-sized piece of jadeite was revealed, exhibiting exactly this characteristic. While the jadeite's color

wasn't as rich as Oda Okibun's, it was exceptionally clear and naturally fresh,

a color . Most importantly, it resembled a smooth piece of glass, transparent and clean,

with even better water content than Oda Okibun's—a top-grade glass-type jadeite, estimated to be worth around five million US dollars.

Teraguchi Kirimoto, this bald, middle-aged man in his forties with a robust and tall physique, was a stark contrast to

the delicate and soft-spoken Koharu; it was hard to believe he had such a beautiful, doll-like daughter.

Teraguchi Kirimoto, always sporting a cheerful smile, presented a yellowish-green jadeite rough, Tendo

Shin'yū's favorite type of jadeite, the Ryūdō Jade.

His Ryūdō Jade had an excellent appearance; the round surface of the rough stone featured a large python-like band

running to bottom, with the opening slightly near the top. The polished jadeite revealed a yellow jadeite with a six-point translucency, its quality

only approaching glass-like, but the yellow color was very close to a pure bright yellow, attracting considerable attention.

It was valued at three and a half million US dollars.

Sun Zhenyi's rough stones all came from the Mogang Old Mine. Laying them flat, they measured 150 cm long, 50

cm , and 60 cm high, with a rough, grayish-white surface.

His Mogang rough stones didn't look particularly good, but the polished openings were

breathtaking .

The reason is simple: the jadeite revealed was an exceptionally vibrant green, reaching a level of nine-tenths of the finest emerald

green. Under strong light, it flowed seamlessly, and when viewed quietly, a

shimmering . Based on this outstanding characteristic, its appraised value was six million US dollars.

Lee Jong-jun of Samsung, who actually represents the South Korean jadeite collecting world, certainly didn't disappoint with his rough stones.

A piece of grey jadeite, when cut open, revealed a fiery red band seeping into a sky-blue hue.

This type of jadeite, like "spring with color" and "chicken fat yellow," is a two-color mixture, sometimes called "fire

sunset," but because it conforms to natural celestial phenomena, it's considered a top-grade two-color mixture, valued at six million US dollars.

Jani, an indigenous Indonesian, appeared well-maintained with a radiant complexion, and his rough stone

came from the old mine, Mamu Bay.

The characteristic of Ma Mu Wan jadeite rough stones is their paper-thin skin; a mere rub reveals a 20-

centimeter . The color isn't the traditional green and red, but a deep azure blue, a true icy jadeite. Its exceptional water content

makes it a genuine icy jadeite. Coming from an old mine and being icy jadeite, its value is naturally high, estimated at four

million US dollars.

The jadeite rough stone presented by Li Lun from Singapore comes from Houjiang, but this isn't the Houjiang we usually refer to;

it's from the new Houjiang mine, located next to the original Houjiang mine. Although a new mine, the rough stones produced there are just

as impressive.

The new Houjiang rough stone has a yellowish-brown outer skin, with fine and smooth crystals, and a mixed pattern of veins and spots. Upon opening

, a deep purple jadeite in the shape of a pigeon egg can be seen in the center of the pale purple jadeite, eliciting gasps of delight from the women who see it

. This "purple eye" looks both mysterious and noble; if made into a necklace pendant, it would be highly

sought after by women, who are known for their lavish spending. The estimated price is four and a half million US dollars.

The jadeite pieces from the seven individuals mentioned above were all of high quality, dazzling onlookers and eliciting gasps of amazement, with many wishing they could

buy them immediately. However, the most attention was drawn to the rough stones from Ii Yuri, Takahashi Shunsuke, and Yusong.

Yuri's rough stone was one I helped her select from the Moses Sandpit. It was 100 centimeters tall, with a strange,

irregular, angular shape, and the left side looked as if it had been cut with a knife.

But below this unsightly cut surface, at the junction with the thicker side, there was a 20-centimeter-

wide . The largest piece in the center was a vibrant green with six-tenths of the water content, while the left side, occupying one-fifth of the area, was

a dazzling purple, and the corresponding right side, occupying one-fifth of the area, was a bright red.

This piece of jadeite from the Moses Pit only has medium to high water content in all three colors, lacking any major highlights. However,

the simultaneous appearance of three colors on a single piece of jadeite is far rarer than any specific type or type of jadeite. Furthermore,

the auspicious meaning of "Fu Lu Shou" (福禄寿, representing fortune, prosperity, and longevity) bestowed upon it since ancient times further enhances its value, leading appraisers to estimate its worth at eight million

US dollars .

Besides watching with wide eyes, people were speculating whether a larger cut

would reveal another color or more.

"Fu Lu Shou" is already rare; adding yellow would create the standard "Fu Lu

Shou Xi" (福禄寿喜, representing fortune, prosperity, longevity, and happiness); adding cyan would create the rare "five colors"; and adding two more would make it the most supreme "King of Seven Colors" among all multicolored jadeite

throughout history .

Therefore, everyone understands the difficulty of finding another color, so they are filled with anticipation but

not high hopes.

When everyone saw the auspicious colors of the "Fu Lu Shou" (福禄寿) jadeite, they thought it might be the winner of the night.

However, after seeing the rough stone from Takahashi Shunsuke, they immediately changed their minds.

I had also helped select Takahashi Shunsuke's rough stone; it was a grayish-white jadeite from the old mine of Damukan. This rough stone, which didn't show any of Damukan's quality characteristics from

the outside , immediately caused a stir upon its appearance. The opening

, about ten centimeters wide, revealed a dazzling red color, and the water quality was undoubtedly glassy. Looking through the outer layer of jadeite

, it was clear that the interior was very deep and thick, quite striking.

But that wasn't the most captivating part. What truly amazed everyone was a small,

fingernail-sized patch of red in the lower right corner of this dazzling red. This patch wasn't glaring; instead, it was very soft,

exuding red; they

were drawn to its pure and gentle aura.

"Red Jadeite, the Emperor's Heart!"

someone had already shouted out the true name of this small piece of red jadeite.

Even the most clueless person, upon hearing the widely circulated name "Red Jadeite Imperial Heart," would know it's

the only jadeite whose pure color rivals that of the finest imperial emeralds.

Everyone who's seen this rough stone from Damukan is eagerly anticipating whether this small piece of "Red Jadeite

Imperial Heart," located in the bottom right corner, will reveal more as the area is further rubbed open. It

seems highly likely!

If this "Red Jadeite Imperial Heart" were the size of an adult's fist among the bright red, glass-type jadeite,

it would undoubtedly be the largest among all the jadeites present, hence the appraiser's valuation of ten million

US dollars.

If it were any larger… ahem, it would truly be unmatched.

The extent of everyone's delight at the "Red Jadeite Imperial Heart"

is , while the stunningly beautiful young woman standing beside him has a somewhat reserved…

or rather, strained, smile.

Alright.

As many have probably seen, the reason why the "Red Jade Emperor's Heart," considered the finest jadeite,

is considered the best among all known jadeite pieces is because there's an even more impressive rough stone.

This rough stone comes from Aisin Gioro Yusong, a member of the former Qing Dynasty imperial family.

Yusong's rough stone is a round stone with a diameter of 80 centimeters. When it was brought out, no one even looked at

the jadeite revealed by the opening; just seeing the plaque standing next to it was enough to make everyone gasp.

"Old Hpakant, Guangxu 3rd year, 1877 AD, a gift from the King of Burma to His Majesty the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty for his

birthday ."

Damn!

Is this even fair?

It's a rough stone from a hundred years ago? Back

then, every rough stone was a guaranteed hit, and they were all top-quality jadeite. Plus, this was a gift from the King of Burma to the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty; it must have been selected

from thousands of rough stones . How could it be anything less than excellent? With this feeling of utter astonishment, people approached this old Hpakant rough stone. It possesses the purest jet-black exterior of old Hpakant rough stones, with fine black sand skin covered by pinpoint-sized green spots, and slightly angular areas covered with distinct blemishes. Most strikingly, it features three black, green, and inky-black bands, like three pythons coiled around the stone, their marks deep and natural. Anyone familiar with rough stone gambling knows that the presence of these three spots, blemishes, and bands on a single stone means it doesn't need to be cleaned; it can be auctioned off at a high price—because any rough stone with these characteristics is guaranteed to be a top-grade jadeite with high green color, high translucency, and high luster. This old Hpakant rough stone, after being opened, did not disappoint. The nearly 20-centimeter opening, though not on a band, revealed a perfectly translucent, full-green emerald! This perfect, translucent, full-green emerald is what we commonly call an imperial-grade emerald. Its green was dazzling, breathtaking, so vibrant that jade enthusiasts could hardly breathe, their eyes glued to it, wishing they could devour it whole. Good heavens! While Shunsuke Takahashi's rough stone already showed signs of a "red jade imperial heart," this "imperial emerald " was far larger. And it hadn't even had the surrounding veins removed yet; such accumulation was already achieved by rubbing the stone in areas that weren't considered "undesirable veins." If this old Hpakant rough stone didn't yield an emerald the size of an American football, it would be a complete failure! Therefore, it was only natural that the appraiser gave it the highest price of the entire event—thirteen million US dollars!
