[Fantasy] The Witch's Dragon-Slaying Tale (Complete) - 13

    page views:1  Publication date:2023-06-21
The extra chapter, "Young Master Green,

"

has been delayed for so long that I've forgotten about 50-60% of the opening plot, leaving me no choice but to reread it. This is because I was hasty in writing this initially, rushing through it all in one go, resulting in the first ten chapters riddled with flaws. Aside from typos, there are numerous nonsensical parts. Therefore, I resolved to carefully revise the first sixteen chapters, adding tens of thousands of words. Although it took a lot of effort, it was well worth it and has given me more motivation to continue updating.

Due to various internal and external factors, including laziness, aversion to trouble, slow internet, my daughter's visit, and constant rain, I'm also posting the newly updated Chapter 17. Patient and kind readers can reread it from the beginning; it wouldn't be in vain for my hard work. For impatient and lazy readers who might glance back after reading Chapter 17, I would be extremely grateful.

If possible, please delete all the previous posts. This is the beginning of the complete "Young Master Green" story.

Chapter 1: Wandering the Martial World

. In the thirty-first year of the Hongwu reign (1389), Emperor Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming Dynasty passed away, and his grandson Zhu Yunwen succeeded him. The fourth prince, Zhu Di, dissatisfied with the succession, used Zhu Yunwen's policy of reducing the power of the princes as a pretext to launch an attack on Nanjing in July of the first year of the Jianwen reign (1389).

At that time, the martial world was experiencing a period of great heroism, with fierce battles between the righteous and the evil. Qi Tai, the Minister of War, although an official in the court, was actually the vice-leader of the "Feitian Sect," one of the three evil sects. Therefore, Qi Tai, under Zhu Yunwen's orders, united the three evil sects to counterattack the Prince of Yan's forces.

Prince of Yan, Zhu Di, was indeed a genius of his time. After receiving a secret report, he quickly rallied the nine righteous sects and three gangs to fight against Zhu Yunwen's evil forces within three days.

The fierce struggle, lasting four years and six months, finally ended with Prince Yan, Zhu Di, capturing Nanjing. The Jianwen Emperor disappeared without a trace, Qi Tai was brutally beheaded, the evil sects suffered a crushing defeat, and the three major religions vanished from the martial world.

After ascending the throne, Prince Yan, Zhu Di, generously rewarded the heroes of the martial world, appointing the four most meritorious individuals as leaders of the four alliances of the East, West, South, and North.

These four leaders possessed unparalleled martial arts skills and exceptional talent. Each dominated their respective regions, leading their respective factions, and a

subtle power struggle arose among them. However, the martial world did not find peace. Evil existed in this world not only in the wicked, but also in the righteous. For twenty years, righteous figures had been scheming and plotting, openly and covertly attacking each other. For their own interests, they did not hesitate to slaughter their former brothers and friends. Countless others, though not killed in the battle between good and evil, met their end at the hands of their former comrades.

Only those who survived twenty years of open and covert struggles, those with exceptional martial arts skills and unparalleled wisdom and courage, were truly great heroes. Among these great heroes and valiant figures, the most renowned and prestigious is undoubtedly Lin Zhentian, the current leader of the Southern Alliance

of the martial arts world. Lin Zhentian is no ordinary man; he once single-handedly fought against the six elders of the Bloodsucking Cult, and one of the leaders of the three evil sects was killed by him. He can be considered a figure who turned the tide in that war. His current glory is attributed to his unique and supreme martial art, the Formless Divine Skill. Legend has it that this skill is mysterious and unpredictable, moving without form, appearing without trace, and disappearing without a trace. To this day, no one who has fought him has been able to decipher its patterns.

This skill is the dream of countless martial artists. And in the world today, only a handful of people are fortunate enough to have mastered it.

But besides Lin Zhentian, who else is qualified to learn this peerless skill? Heh! It is I, Lin Zhentian's only son, Lin Xuan.

To be born into this martial arts family is truly my greatest blessing. Not only could I master unparalleled martial arts, but I would also enjoy a lifetime of luxury and wealth. What would make me happiest, however, was the prospect of having multiple wives. Countless female warriors in the martial arts world would throw themselves at me. Because of this, I became a true playboy. My father was skilled in both literature and martial arts, while I excelled in all forms of entertainment.

One day, my father summoned me, saying he had important business. After we arrived at his study, he said, "Son, you're twenty now. While your martial arts have achieved some success, you can't just drift through life like this. Tomorrow you'll leave home and venture out into the world, but you're not allowed to misuse the name of the Southern Alliance to intimidate people."

I was both happy and worried. Going out was fine; with your big name on my side, what was there to fear? But why wouldn't I be allowed to use my name?

I murmured, "What if I encounter any danger? You only have me as your son."

My father sighed, "How could I have given birth to such a good-for-nothing? Have you wasted over a decade of your studies? Sigh! It's all because your mother passed away early, and I'm even more responsible for spoiling you. But iron cannot be forged without tempering. This time, I won't be soft-hearted. I'll give you five hundred taels of silver, enough for you to live on for a while. Don't come back to see me until you've made a name for yourself."

I felt as if I had fallen to the bottom of an abyss. Five hundred taels? Enough for me to live on for a while? That day at Juchun Restaurant, we only had a few tables, and it cost more than that.

"Father, please, it's only five hundred taels. Are you going to just watch your son end up on the streets? If Mother's spirit in heaven saw her child starving and naked, how heartbroken she would be! Father! How can you bear to see Mother heartbroken?"

I had no choice but to play my trump card right from the start.

Father sighed again, "Alright, alright, I'll tell Uncle Zhang to give you another five hundred taels. You can set off first thing tomorrow morning."

I felt a surge of annoyance. How could you be so stingy with your vast fortune? Luckily, I've always kept some for myself, or I would be in real trouble this time.

"Father, I'll be more frugal with the money, but could I borrow your name if things get dangerous? You wouldn't want me to be so young and then you'd be burying your child, would you? What if I meet Mother in heaven..." "

Enough with your nonsense, hurry up and pack your things."

These words struck me like a thunderbolt. My spirits instantly sank, and my heart sank. I lowered my head and drifted towards the door. As I reached the door, I heard a voice behind me: "Don't embarrass me outside unless absolutely necessary, do you hear me?"

I felt a surge of joy, like a breath of fresh air. This was more useful than giving me ten thousand taels! I happily rushed to Father and kowtowed three times.

After

packing my things and bidding farewell to my father and the others, I excitedly descended the mountain the next day. This was my first time venturing into the martial world. I wondered what strange and wonderful things awaited me. Without anyone to protect me, I didn't know where I would sleep at night, and the more I thought about it, the more desolate I felt.

Half a year passed without me realizing it, and in those six months, I had made a name for myself in the martial world, almost everyone I'd fought had been defeated by me. Of course, most of them deliberately lost to me after knowing my father was Lin Zhentian; they were naturally very obsequious to me because I was Lin Zhentian's son.

Among the younger generation, I was considered a master. After all, my father's meticulous teaching over the past twenty years had not been in vain. My father said I was exceptionally intelligent and had excellent aptitude; if I were to diligently study martial arts, my future would surely surpass his. So, not content with teaching him himself, he hired two more masters to teach me kung fu. But now, the world was at peace, the country was prosperous, and practicing kung fu alone was not enough.

So my father hired another bookish old man for me, who spent his days making me memorize the Book of Poetry and read the Analects, spouting nonsense about how focusing solely on martial arts and neglecting literature would ruin my future. Fortunately, I was exceptionally intelligent, possessing a photographic memory, so those classic texts were naturally no challenge for me. I

haphazardly studied like this for over a decade, quite enjoying it nonetheless. In the end, all my tutors unanimously reached the same conclusion in front of my father: your son is exceptionally intelligent, a rare talent, but he's too playful and frivolous, lacking interest in both martial arts and literature, destined to ruin his promising future.

My father worried about this for a long time. I saw him sighing all day long, looking like he had lost weight. He was the leader of the Southern Martial Arts Alliance, a man of great power and influence, yet he had become so haggard because of his good-for-nothing son. So, I made a painful decision and began to diligently study the family's secret martial art, the Formless Divine Skill.

In just three years, I had mastered the Formless Divine Skill to the fourth level. My father was both happy and surprised by my rapid progress. He was happy that I was finally willing to put my heart into martial arts, but surprised that I had made such progress in just three years, when it had taken him five years to reach the fourth level.

Just as I was enjoying my father's approving gaze, he and his three masters made a decision, and it was this decision that led to my miserable six months.

But going down the mountain wasn't all bad. I remember the day I left home, my second master pulled me aside and said, "My disciple, go out and gain experience. With your background and talent, if you're willing to work hard, you'll have all the beauties in the world and enjoy wealth and glory in the future."

My eyes lit up, and I firmly believed in my second master's words. It was because of these words that I have silently supported myself and come this far.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was the height of summer, the sun blazing overhead, the air itself seeming scorched, the distant mountains and vegetation swaying and deforming.

I walked briskly, undeterred by the heat. I had heard countless times about how beautiful the women of Jiangnan were, and I had always wanted to see them for myself. I had just passed Wolf Slope, and I didn't know how much longer it would take to get there.

Just then, a beautiful young woman appeared before me. Whether real or an illusion, her movements seemed slow, yet she was already in front of me in the blink of an eye. Her light-footed movements were graceful and elegant. At first glance, she possessed an exquisitely beautiful oval face, with delicate, snow-white skin, willow-leaf eyebrows, large eyes, a pert nose, and a small mouth. Her long, jet-black

hair was loosely tied back with a thin white ribbon, giving her an air of both fresh purity and alluring charm. She was dressed entirely in white, her long skirt trailing to her feet, revealing glimpses of delicate, pale white embroidered shoes. A thin veil draped over her delicate body, yet even so, her slender, graceful figure was still evident, like a fairy, pure and ethereal. A snow-white ribbon bound her waist, perfectly revealing her incredibly thin waist, creating an alluring contrast with her exceptionally full and firm breasts. A gift! The woman, a male-use delay spray, was exquisitely

beautiful and captivating, completely mesmerizing me. In all my life, besides my childhood sweetheart, Tian'er, I'd never seen such a beautiful woman.

She approached me and softly asked, "Young master, do you know how to get to Shanlang Slope?"

My face flushed, my heart pounded, and I stared at her, savoring her exquisite voice, my body floating. Where was Shanlang Slope? I had no idea where I was.

The woman in white frowned slightly and urged, "Young master..." Startled

, I awoke as if from a dream and hurriedly said awkwardly, "It's four li south, but the mountain path is very rugged and winding. Perhaps I should lead you there?"

I pondered how to spend more time with her.

"No need, I'm being chased by enemies, it's extremely dangerous. Young master, you'd better go as far away as possible."

With that, her figure flashed and she ran south.

What kind of beast would dare to make an enemy of a fairy like me? Such a beauty… no, such a frail woman, how could I stand by and watch her die? This chivalrous hero must lend a helping hand! Without another word, I followed the beauty's trail south.

This fairy looked very young, maybe eighteen or nineteen at most, but her footwork was truly impressive. In no time, she reached the foot of Wolf Slope.

Suddenly, dust billowed and voices rose behind me. I closed my eyes and listened carefully. There were about thirty people, their steps light and their movements swift; they were all skilled in martial arts. One person, in particular, moved with exceptional speed, clearly the best among them.

Upon hearing the footsteps, the beauty turned to look, her beautiful face expressionless. She glanced at me, who was following behind, and said, "Young master, do you have a long life ahead of you?"

Looking at her beautiful face, I grinned foolishly, thinking to myself: She's really beautiful, I wonder what her name is.

Seeing that I didn't answer, she ignored me and ran towards the mountain. Seeing the beauty go, I naturally followed.

The mountain path was difficult, but the beauty ahead still moved swiftly, occasionally stopping to check the situation below. It felt more like she was waiting for the people behind her, as if afraid they would get lost.

A group of people followed closely behind, slowly approaching us, but the girl remained unhurried. Seeing that they were about to catch up, and that we seemed to have reached the top of the slope, it seemed there would be no way to go any further. I thought to myself, "This fool, why did she choose such a path to escape?" Just then, a small wooden house appeared at the top of the slope, and a white-haired woman stood in front of it, looking in our direction.

"Ha! Great! Master, you really are here!"

the beauty exclaimed, running towards the woman. It turned out she wanted to lure this group here, but this old woman looked quite old; could she handle such a large group?

The woman glanced at the group behind her, then went back into the house and retrieved a gleaming silver sword. Her movements were incredibly swift; such lightness skill must have taken decades of cultivation.

"Master, your disciple has found you!"

"Who is it?"

"It's Duan Tianhu! Master, you must avenge your disciple today!"

Saying this, she hid behind the woman. I didn't want to follow, so I stood aside. Duan Tianhu? Could it be "Tiger-Slaying Saber" Duan Tianhu? What grudge could such a famous swordsman have against this young girl?

The woman said angrily, "Hmph, this beast has finally delivered himself to our doorstep! Xue'er, don't worry, today your master will chop off this beast's dog head to appease your parents' spirits."

So her name was Xue'er; she was beautiful, and her name was beautiful too. Hearing the woman mention her parents, her beautiful eyes welled up with tears.

Soon, a group of people arrived at the house. Leading them was a middle-aged man, quite distinguished, with a sallow complexion and wrinkles on his forehead resembling tiger stripes. He carried a heavy broadsword, which looked to weigh at least several dozen pounds. To wield such a heavy blade, one must possess immense inner strength; this must be Duan Tianhu.

"Haha, who is it? It's none other than the legendary 'Swallow in the Clouds,' Chen Yunyan! Twenty years have passed, and you've been hiding in this remote mountain valley. Why not come with me and roam the martial world again? I'll provide you with food and shelter; it'll be much better than this godforsaken place." A murderous glint flashed in Chen Yunyan's eyes: "

Duan, who cares about what you've obtained through such depravity? Since you're here today, leave your life behind."

With that, she drew her silver sword and leaped towards Duan Tianhu, her attack swift and powerful, her movement agile and swift. No wonder Xue'er dared to lure them here. Duan Tianhu didn't retreat, raising his blade to block, his fist aimed straight for the attacker's chest. Chen Yunyan, unperturbed, merely touched the blade with the tip of her sword, instantly turning in mid-air, easily dodging the heavy punch.

I secretly cheered, "What incredible lightness skill!" Chen Yunyan turned and struck again, changing from a thrust to a slash, still aiming for vital points. This Duan was indeed not weak; with a backbend, he thrust his nearly 100-pound thick blade behind him, the strike as swift as lightning. Chen Yunyan couldn't dodge in time, and actually used the hilt of her sword to tap the tip of the blade, using the force of the blade to bounce herself off. If this move had been slightly off, the broadsword would have pierced through her chest, but Chen Yunyan used it with ease, which shows that Chen Yunyan's lightness skill and swordsmanship have reached a superb level.

Her lithe body flew away like a swallow, landing on a large tree behind her and swinging back against the current. She used the same move, "Swallow Flying South," aiming straight for Duan Tianhu's vitals. Duan Tianhu straightened up, startled by the sudden gust of wind behind him. Knowing the attack was fierce, he dared not meet it head-on. He leaped forward , landing behind one of his henchmen, and kicked him towards Chen Yunyan.

Chen Yunyan spun around, abruptly stopping in mid-air, dodging the attacker, and with a swift stroke of her sword across his neck, ending his life.

"Duan, you're no human! Using your own men as shields! What's the point of following someone like that?" "

Don't listen to this woman's nonsense! Whoever kills her and captures that girl today will lose her virginity!"

Then she pointed in the direction Xue'er was standing. The crowd cheered, their eyes gleaming, practically drooling. These bastards are like toads lusting after swans, they don't even know their place! I've cursed them a hundred times in my heart. But recalling how Xue'er looked earlier, I figured she was probably just like that, so I slowly let it go.

"If you want me, then come and try me,"

Xue'er said with a smile, her long sword already itching to strike. The crowd stirred again.

"Haha, boss, this woman is so beautiful, I really want to taste what her cunt tastes like."

"Hmph, then hurry up and kill the old woman, and tonight you can take turns with this beauty."

The crowd cheered again.

These people are disgusting, I'll let them taste the flavor of my hands first. I was very annoyed by their lustful thoughts about Xue'er. If I wasn't unsure of my own skills, I would have rushed forward and killed them all. It seems that listening to my father and practicing my skills was the right thing to do.

"Xue'er, stop wasting time talking to them, let's kill these bastards together!"

With that, the two of them drew their swords and charged into the crowd.

I never expected Xue'er, despite her young age, to already possess such skill in swordsmanship and such exceptional agility. It seems she has truly inherited her master's teachings. In a single exchange, the master and disciple had four people lying motionless on the ground.

Duan Tianhu also jumped into the fray, organizing his men to attack Chen Yunyan. I thought to myself, with Chen Yunyan holding off Duan, these little bastards will be much easier to deal with. If I help Xue'er now, and Chen Yunyan kills Duan, then I'll share in the credit for her revenge for her family's murder. She might even be so grateful that she'd offer herself to me—that would be wonderful! The more I thought about it, the more worthwhile this deal seemed.

"Girl, I'm here to help you."

Unleashing her family's light-footed skill, she charged into the fray with a move called "Seagull Skimming the Water." These thugs, though crude, were surprisingly skilled. Xue'er dodged and weaved, her body drenched in sweat. Even with her excellent agility, she couldn't effectively maneuver against the dozen or so burly men wielding long swords. Chen Yunyan, however, was remarkable. She moved freely despite being surrounded by a dozen men, including Duan Tianhu, and men fell frequently, struck by her swords.

I used "Double Dragons Emerging from the Cave" to strike the waists of two men behind Xue'er, causing them to collapse. I quickly moved to protect Xue'er's back, shielding her from the attack and keeping the dozen or so men at bay. Xue'er immediately felt the pressure lessen.

"Thank you for saving me, young master."

I thought to myself with pride, "It's nothing, but I couldn't stand seeing someone bullying the weak. A group of grown men had the nerve to bully two frail women."

At this moment, Xue'er stopped talking and focused on fighting alongside me, defeating the dozen or so men surrounding us. Meanwhile, Duan Tianhu abandoned Chen Yunyan and charged into our battle, raising his broadsword and slashing at Xue'er with tremendous force.

I knew that Xue'er was still young and far inferior to Duan Tianhu in both arm strength and internal strength. This blow would surely kill her instantly. However, because I was behind her, she could dodge and protect herself, but that would probably mean my death. Chen Yunyan was surrounded by more than a dozen men and had no time to break free. She could only watch helplessly as Duan Tianhu's sword fell.

Chapter 2 Escaping from the Tiger's Mouth

As expected, Xue'er didn't dodge; instead, she raised her sword to take the attack head-on. I was deeply moved. I never imagined she would risk her life for me. At that moment, I couldn't care less. I grabbed her slender waist from behind and rushed forward with a sword step. A burly man blocked my path, preventing me from escaping, and raised his knife to strike me.

I threw a punch, but just as the blade was about to strike my fist, I suddenly changed my move, turning my fist into a palm strike against the blade. The knife was deflected, leaving the burly man's chest wide open. I used the momentum to slam into his chest, sending him flying. Unable to stop myself, I rolled a good ten feet away with Xue'er in my arms. A sweet fragrance wafted into my nose; Xue'er was also holding me tightly. At that moment, I felt incredibly happy. A loud crash echoed as Duan Tianhu's blade left a large crater in the ground. Xue'er and I quickly stood up, but we were surrounded again.

"Ah, young master...you...there's so much blood!"

Xue'er's cry made me feel a sharp pain in my back. It seemed I hadn't completely dodged the blade; I was probably injured by the wind from the blade, which was why the wound wasn't very deep.

I forced a smile through the pain, "Hehe, it's worth it to save a girl's life with a gash."

Duan Tianhu didn't give us a chance to catch our breath, continuing to slash at Xue'er with his sword, still using a heavy and fierce technique. By this time, only five of the dozen or so people surrounding Chen Yunyan had been killed. Seeing our perilous situation, they abandoned the other five and rushed towards Duan Tianhu, wanting to take the blow for Xue'er.

But just as Duan and Chen's swords clashed, Chen Yunyan suddenly felt that the blow was weak, a feint. She cried out in alarm, but it was too late. A flash of light appeared before her eyes, and three silver nails had already pierced Chen Yunyan's chest.

It turned out that the two attacks on Xue'er were a trap to lure Chen Yunyan. To save her disciple, Chen Yunyan would inevitably take the blow with all her might. However, the moment Chen Yunyan parried, the attack was feinted, and she concentrated all her strength on the poisoned nail in her other hand. The two were too close, and Chen Yunyan was completely unprepared, so she couldn't dodge this inconspicuous hidden weapon.

Duan Tianhu immediately retreated after his success, fearing that Chen Yunyan would use a deadly move because of her injury. Chen Yunyan was also an experienced fighter; she knew the silver nail was poisoned, and if they didn't escape now, none of them would survive if they continued to fight. He channeled his energy and shot out his longsword. One of them fell to the ground with a thud. He grabbed me and Xue'er and flew towards the only gap, covering ten zhang in an instant.

"Quick, chase!"

Duan Tianhu shouted, and the dozen or so men immediately reacted and rushed after us in the direction we had fled.

Chen Yunyan's leap had almost exhausted all her strength. Xue'er and I each supported her on one side. Xue'er anxiously called out "Master," her beautiful face already streaked with tears. I felt a pang of heartache and wanted to comfort her, but I didn't know what to say.

Chen Yunyan smiled weakly at Xue'er and pointed northwest: "Xue'er, there's a cave about half a mile away. Go there."

Xue'er and I hurried northwest, pursued by a dozen or so men. We were supporting one person, and it seemed we were about to be overtaken. Finally, we saw the cave ahead. It was only half a person high and one person wide. I told Xue'er to take Chen Yunyan inside first, intending to hold them off at the entrance until they were all inside before I went in.

At this moment, Duan Tianhu and his men caught up. Without a word, he slashed at me. I struck the blade with my palm, and a tremendous force struck, making my entire hand numb. I involuntarily took three steps back, and a sharp pain shot through my back wound. Duan Tianhu only took half a step back, demonstrating that his skill far surpassed mine. At that moment, Xue'er and Chen Yunyan entered the cave. I wanted to turn back and enter as well, but that would leave him with an open door behind me, and I didn't want to be stabbed again. It seemed I needed to intimidate him with my father's name first.

"How could you, the dignified leader of the Fierce Tiger Hall, make things difficult for a little girl? Aren't you afraid of being laughed at?"

"Hmph, what I, Duan Tianhu, do is none of your business. Don't try to be a hero just because a girl is pretty. Be careful you lose your life before you regret it." "

Haha, my father taught me from a young age that a man should stand tall and help the weak when he sees injustice. So what if I lose my life today?"

"Who is your father?"

"Have you heard of Lin Zhentian of the Wuxiang Lin family?"

Duan Tianhu asked, his face filled with astonishment. Seeing my chance, I turned and flashed into the cave.

"You little brat, you dare to lie to your Grandpa Duan! Brothers, get him!"

At this moment, a man rushed in, knife in hand and bent over. I raised my hand and thrust out with a palm strike, sending him flying out of the cave. That palm strike would have left him half-dead, if not dead. With this example, no one dared to rush in again. I turned back to the two men. Xue'er, seeing me approach, cupped her hands and said, "Thank you for saving my life, young master. I am Qin Xue'er, and this is my master, Chen Yunyan. I heard you say outside that Alliance Leader Lin is your father. Is that true?"

I smiled and said, "Of course it is!"

The two men were overjoyed to hear that I was indeed Lin Zhentian's son.

Xue'er grabbed my hand happily and said, "Then, young master, could you use Alliance Leader Lin's name to scare those people away?"

Looking at the beautiful face before me and holding the soft hand in mine, I was intoxicated. Her large, bright black eyes, moist red lips, and flawless, delicate oval face were captivating.

Her slender figure, draped in white, made me want to caress her. Her full breasts seemed about to burst from her clothes, and a white ribbon tied around her waist accentuated her slender waist. The girl lowered her head under my burning gaze, two blushes creeping onto her cheeks, her shy expression making her even more irresistible.

"I'm asking you a question!"

I said, quickly pulling my fair hand away.

I immediately realized my lapse in composure, my face burning. Xue'er, seeing my foolishness, let out a soft laugh, which almost made me dizzy again. Seeing the awkward situation, I quickly changed the subject.

"I'll give it a try and see if I can fool him, but this Duan fellow is skilled in martial arts and despicable. I reckon he'll kill us all to silence us. Father is thousands of miles away, so of course he won't know what happened today."

A trace of worry flashed in Xue'er's eyes as she said, "Young Master, don't worry, no matter what, we will definitely protect your life."

"Sister Xue'er, you're too kind. Since we've had the chance to share this hardship together today, I've already disregarded life and death."

At this moment, Xue'er suddenly exclaimed in surprise. Chen Yunyan in her arms coughed up a mouthful of blood, her chest cloth stained black.

"Such potent poison... Xue'er... It seems... I'm... not going to make it."

Xue'er sobbed uncontrollably, clinging to Chen Yunyan's body. "Master, sob... It's all my fault."

"Child... What nonsense are you talking about... Young Master Lin... This old woman has never begged anyone in her life... Today, no matter what... I beg you to take Xue'er... safely... away from here."

I quickly grasped Chen Yunyan's slightly cold hand and said, "Senior, rest assured, I will definitely take Xue'er away safely."

Chen Yunyan nodded peacefully, a weak smile on her lips. "That's good..."

Watching Chen Yunyan's eyes slowly close, the bloodstains on her chest growing darker and darker, it seemed she had already died from the poison.

It turned out that the poisoned nail was extremely toxic, and Chen Yunyan, after being poisoned, had used her internal energy to run a long distance, accelerating her blood circulation and causing the poison to attack her heart, leading to her death.

"Waaah... Master, you can't die! You're the only family I have left in this world. Don't you even want me anymore?"

I cried out as I watched Xue'er wail, and my heart ached too. "Xue'er, please accept my condolences."

I didn't know what to say to comfort her, so I gently patted her back. After crying on Chen Yunyan's back for a while, Xue'er suddenly stood up, her eyes filled with murderous intent.

"Master, your disciple will go avenge you!"

she said, and ran towards the cave entrance. Luckily, I caught her in time.

"Xue'er, calm down. Going out like this is just suicide. Do you think Senior would want you to die like this?"

Xue'er's eyes were unfocused. She shook off my hand and cried even harder.

"What can I do? Now even the only family I can rely on in this world is dead. What's the point of me living? I'll go out and die with that dog Duan Tianhu!"

she said, trying to rush outside again. In my desperation, I didn't care about anything else and pulled her into my arms.

"Sister Xue'er, don't be like this. I promise you, if we can escape this calamity today, I, Lin, will be your support from now on."

Xue'er trembled in my arms, buried her face in my shoulder, and continued to cry. After a long while, her crying gradually subsided

, and Xue'er gently pulled away from my embrace: "Thank you, I feel much better. Don't worry, I will find a way to help you leave here no matter what." Saying this, she turned away and stopped looking at me. My heart ached, and I rushed forward to hug her again: "Xue'er, I'm serious. I will protect you forever, and we will both leave safely."

Xue'er looked at me with her large, sorrowful eyes, and the tears that had just stopped welled up again: "Was it worth it? I'm just a jinx; no one connected to me will have a good ending."

What had Heaven done to her? What kind of suffering had she endured to make such a beautiful young girl utter such bitter and desolate words? Though my heart ached with sorrow, I knew this was not the time for tender comfort, so I forced a smile and acted like a rogue

, saying, "How could someone as beautiful as you be a jinx? Even if I were, I wouldn't be afraid. The fortune teller said my life is cheap, I'll live to at least a hundred." Xue'er burst into laughter through her tears, "Nonsense! Do you have any way to escape from here?" "

That Duan fellow is highly skilled in martial arts, but his lightness skill doesn't seem to be much better than ours. His henchmen are even less capable. If we can injure Duan Tianhu's feet, we can definitely shake them off."

"You said he's highly skilled in martial arts, how can we injure his feet?"

At this moment, a flash of fire appeared outside the cave, and thick smoke drifted into the cave, instantly filling it with black smoke.

I said anxiously, "Oh no, they're trying to suffocate us with smoke."

But Xue'er remained calm, slowly walked to Chen Yunyan's corpse, knelt down, and kowtowed three times.

"Master, Xue'er bids you farewell. May you have a safe journey."

She then stood up and pulled out the three silver nails embedded in Chen Yunyan's chest, giving me one and hiding the remaining two in her sleeve. She then asked me to help cover Chen Yunyan's body with the dry grass from the cave. She took out a tinderbox, lit the dry grass, and cremated Chen Yunyan's body on the spot. After taking one last look at her revered master slowly disappearing in the fire, she turned back to me and said, "I have a method that we can try."

The cave was already filled with thick smoke, making it difficult to breathe. I bound Xue'er's hands and led her outside.

"Uncle Duan, please have mercy! We're out!"

The crowd immediately surrounded us upon seeing us emerge.

"Hehe, Uncle Duan, I've caught this woman for you, so please spare my life. I'll definitely tell my father about your unparalleled wisdom, Uncle Duan."

"Haha, good lad, as long as you hand this little girl over to me today, I guarantee you can leave safely. If you're happy, I can even invite you to rest at my place for a few days and heal your injuries."

"Haha, that would be perfect. Come on, you stinking woman, hurry to Uncle Duan's place."

I pushed Xue'er from behind, and she lost her balance and fell forward. Duan Tianhu planted his broadsword in the ground and reached out to grab her, but Xue'er's hands behind her back suddenly broke free, and a silver nail from her sleeve struck Duan Tianhu squarely in the face. It was the same poisoned nail Duan Tianhu had used to assassinate Chen Yunyan.

Caught off guard, Duan Tianhu retreated hastily, dodging the silver nail with a mid-air backflip. Xue'er continued her attack, another silver nail flying from her sleeve, still aimed at his face. Unable to dodge while in mid-air, Duan Tianhu kicked off his shoe, blocking the attack. Before he landed, another nail flew out, also heading for his face. Duan Tianhu kicked off his other shoe, knocking away the last silver nail.

"Haha, you've used up all three, let's see what you use now."

He landed barefoot on the ground, letting out a scream the instant he touched the ground. Looking down, he realized he had stepped on a silver nail.

"Haha, Uncle Duan, how does the poisoned nail feel to you?"

"You... how come you have four silver nails?"

I was quite pleased with my successful plan.

"Heh, what four poisoned nails? When Xue'er threw the first one, I had already placed one on the ground. The next two were just to lure you to the one I placed. To lower your guard, Xue'er found a similarly shaped stone to serve as the third poisoned nail. Uncle Duan, this poison is very potent. You'd better not move. I'll take my leave now."

Duan Tianhu hurriedly took out a bottle from his clothes, poured out a small pill, and swallowed it.

"Don't let them escape! Whoever captures them will be richly rewarded."

As long as Duan didn't make a move, these henchmen were nothing. But if Duan Tianhu was cured of the poison, it would be troublesome. Ignoring everything else, I rushed out of the encirclement.

I shouted to Xue'er, "Xue'er, follow me, I'll clear the way."

Duan Tianhu was furious, but the poison hadn't been completely cleared, so he dared not move. In a fit of anger, he pulled the poisoned nail out of his foot and shot it at me. I couldn't see what was behind me, but when I turned around, I saw Xue'er shielding me from the poisoned nail with her body. My body trembled, a sharp pain shot through me, and I kicked away one of the henchmen blocking my way, then picked up Xue'er and rushed out of the encirclement.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carrying Xue'er, I ran for several miles, then felt my wound on my back bleeding again. I found a hidden haystack and carefully checked Xue'er's injuries.

"Xue'er, are you alright? Don't scare me. It's all my fault for being too careless and letting him succeed."

Xue'er slowly opened her eyes and shook her head. Her already fair face was now even paler.

"Don't talk nonsense! If it weren't for you, Xue'er would probably be with my parents by now. Fortunately, this poisoned nail has been used twice, so the toxicity isn't as strong anymore."

I suddenly remembered that my father had forced me to carry some antidote and healing pills with me when we went down the mountain. Just as my father said, getting hurt in the martial world is inevitable, and these things will come in handy. I hurriedly took out a box from my clothes, shook out a pill, and fed it to Xue'er.

"This was made by my master from the Nine-Flower Elixir of the Immortal Mountain and the Sweet Dew of Ice Condensed Under the Moon. It's usually used to treat internal injuries. I don't know if it can detoxify."

After swallowing the pill, Xue'er caught her breath and vomited a mouthful of black blood.

"Could this be the Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill, unique to the Southern Alliance? You actually gave me such a rare and precious pill."

"Rare or precious? As long as it can cure your poison, I'd give my life for it."

Xue'er stared at me with wide, bright eyes, struggling to raise a hand to stroke my face. "It's so good to have met you here. Even if I die, I won't have any regrets."

My nose tingled, and I hugged her tightly. "Don't talk nonsense. I won't let you die. I said I'd be your support for life."

Xue'er continued to look at me quietly, two lines of tears slowly sliding down her cheeks and dripping onto my hand.

"Besides my parents and master, no one has ever been so good to me. Will you be good to me for the rest of your life?"

Looking into her beautiful eyes, my heart surged with emotion, and I nodded excitedly, my voice trembling. "Of course, it will be even better than this."

She was a woman whom even Heaven should pity. How could anyone bear to harm her? Watching Xue'er's tears slowly flow, I silently vowed that in my future, I would never let her shed another tear.

Xue'er wrapped her arms around my neck, closed her beautiful eyes, and gently pressed her soft red lips to mine.

My whole body trembled uncontrollably, my heart pounded, and I breathed heavily

, holding Xue'er even tighter. Although I was born into wealth and luxury, indulging in all sorts of pleasures, I was still born into a prestigious family with strict rules, and therefore never dared to frequent brothels or mingle with other women. Let alone have such intimate contact with any woman; at most, we would only hold hands and embrace. So even now, I still believe that as long as I touch a woman's skin or exchange feelings with her, it is a promise for life, something that must be kept even at the cost of a lifetime. And from the moment Xue'er's lips met mine, I knew that I could not live without her in this life.

Chapter 3 The Heaven-Defying Needle Journey

Completely ignorant of matters between men and women, I had no idea what to do next. But even if we did nothing, as long as I could hold Xue'er like this, I would be content for a lifetime. Xue'er, however, seemed unsatisfied with just holding me. Her snow-white wrists pulled my neck down more forcefully, and her delicate tongue gently slipped into my mouth, teasing and licking, filling it with sweet saliva.

My whole body began to feel inexplicably hot, and my penis, harder than ever in twenty years, pressed roughly between Xue'er's tender legs. Xue'er didn't resist, rubbing her pert little buttocks against my penis. This was a feeling I had never experienced before, as if I were in heaven, yet it felt far from enough. Xue'er gently released me, her large eyes staring at me with a resentful look.

"Why won't you touch me? Is Xue'er's body not attractive enough to you?"

I shook my head anxiously. "Of course not, Xue'er. Don't you know how alluring you are? I've never seen such a beautiful woman as you, not even in my dreams. I wish I could devour you right now."

"Then why?"

Xue'er's eyes slowly filled with tenderness again.

"I just wanted to wait until we're married before doing some things. And the main thing is that you're currently poisoned. If I only seek momentary pleasure and cause your blood to rush, making the poison dissolve into your bloodstream faster, that would be terrible."

But this was only one reason. I couldn't very well tell her that this was all due to my lack of experience, and that we should wait until I've thoroughly studied it before we go to bed together. Wouldn't that make me, a dignified young master from a wealthy family, lose face completely?

Xue'er's eyes reddened again as she threw herself into my arms, sobbing, "Even now you're still thinking of me like this. How can I ever repay you in this lifetime?"

Suddenly, Xue'er pulled me away, her large, watery eyes filled with shyness.

"This is terrible. I've let you hug me, I've let you kiss me, but I still don't even know your name."

I slapped the back of my head and laughed foolishly, "Haha, that's right, I am Lin Xuan of the Wuxiang Lin family. I'm in a good mood."

Xue'er chuckled and lightly tapped my shoulder.

"You're so frivolous. So how should I address you from now on? Should I call you Young Master Lin or Brother Xuan?"

A slender, white finger gently tapped her moist lips, her dark eyes darting back and forth as if she were pondering a difficult question.

I chuckled and said, "Of course I like you calling me Brother Xuan, but if possible, I'd prefer you to call me husband."

Xue'er stopped her playful expression, looked at me with deep affection, and then slowly lowered her already flushed face, calling out in a voice barely audible, "Husband!"

I pretended not to hear and asked, "What? Young Master Lin? What did you say? I didn't hear you."

Xue'er became even more shy, smiling as she threw herself into my arms, hugging me tightly. "So you're so naughty, teasing me like this. Now listen carefully, I'm calling you, husband! husband! husband!"

After saying that, she hugged me even tighter. I gently stroked her slender back and whispered in her ear, "So good, my dear wife."

This time, Xue'er was so shy that she didn't even dare to lift her face, but simply rested her cheek gently against my chest.

"Sigh! I really wish things could stay like this forever, my husband. If Xue'er really dies this time, can you promise Xue'er that you will remember her and think of her for the rest of your life? Even when you are old and gray, you must never forget Xue'er's name, okay?"

My heart was filled with mixed feelings, and an indescribable pain throbbed in my chest. I held back the tears that were about to spill, and said softly, "Silly boy, why are you saying such silly things again? Didn't I say..."

Xue'er quickly covered my lips with her soft hand, stopping me from saying anything more.

"Husband, listen to me. I understand my condition. The Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill is a holy medicine for healing. It can increase my vital energy when I am weak, giving me the strength to fight the poison. But this is only a temporary solution and doesn't address the root cause. It's completely useless. Even if I don't die from the poison within ten days, I will definitely die from exhaustion."

Xue'er sighed slightly, lowered her head, and continued, "Death is nothing, but Duan Tianhu killed my parents and master. I am so unwilling that I cannot kill this scoundrel with my own hands. Even if I die, I will have no face to see my parents and master. So, husband, please, I beg you, after you return to the Southern Alliance, please ask your father, the old hero Lin, to thoroughly investigate the Qin family massacre case in Hangzhou, Zhejiang five years ago. Duan Tianhu is the mastermind behind this. As long as this matter is investigated, Duan Tianhu will definitely not escape. I only hope that the old hero Lin can seek justice for my Qin family."

Looking at the grief and indignation in Xue'er's eyes as she recounted the cruelty Duan Tianhu inflicted on her family, I really wanted to kill that Duan.

"Xue'er, don't worry. Even if you don't tell, I won't let that Duan guy go. I will definitely avenge the massacre of your Qin family by Duan Tianhu, and I will definitely cure the poison in your body. From now on, I, Lin Xuan, will do anything for you, Qin Xue'er, even if it means going through fire and water. We can discuss revenge another day, but the most urgent thing is to find a way to cure the poison in your body. Xue'er, have you ever heard of the four divine doctors known as 'Black, White, Needle, and Poison'?"

Xue'er looked at me intently, her heart filled with affection, and she wiped away the tears on her cheeks and nodded, saying, "Of course I've heard of them. Legend has it that they were the four divine doctors who became famous throughout the world during the war between good and evil twenty years ago."

"Yes, of these four divine doctors, only Doctor Bai, Xu Xiujue, has disappeared without a trace."

Xue'er said indifferently, "Don't tell me you want to take me to find Xu Xiujue?"

I smiled and shook my head, "I can't find him. He's now the number one divine doctor in the world, bestowed by the emperor, treating emperors and empresses, very prestigious. But I can find another healing master who is no less skilled than him."

Xue'er asked curiously, "Alright, stop being mysterious, tell me quickly."

I chuckled and said, "It's 'Heaven-Defying Needle Master' Li Dezhong."

Xue'er looked surprised, "Needle doctor Li Dezhong? Didn't he retire from the martial arts world more than ten years ago?"

I nodded and said, "He is a good friend of my father. Six years ago, he brought his daughter to stay at my house for half a year, so I know him very well. For the past ten years, he has been living in seclusion in a place called 'Dingcao Valley' outside Hangzhou City. It just so happens that it's not far from Hangzhou City. I'll take you there now." Xue'er

nodded without hesitation. Looking into her sorrowful eyes, I understood that she had placed all her hopes on me. I took a Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill myself and had Xue'er apply some wound medicine to the wound on my back. After some rough bandaging, Xue'er and I set off.

It seemed the poison was indeed potent; even though Duan Tianhu had the antidote, he dared not act rashly and did not pursue us further.

We traveled for half a day and reached the nearest small town. We spent a few taels of silver to hire a decent carriage and a driver, and after preparing dry food and water, we began our nightly journey towards Dingcao Valley. After all, the sooner Xue'er's poison was cured, the better.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xue'er must have been exhausted; she slept in my arms for a whole day. Apart from eating and letting the horses rest, we hardly stopped anywhere on the road.

In less than three days, we arrived at the entrance to Dingcao Valley. Although Li Dezhong was a close friend of my father, he was, after all, a renowned physician of the time, and I needed his help. To show my sincerity, I decided to walk with Xue'er. After giving the driver some loose change, I sent him away and helped Xue'er continue into the valley. We walked for about half an hour, but still saw no houses or people in the valley.

Just as I was becoming increasingly anxious, a beautiful melody suddenly came from the forest, like the melodious chirping of birds. Following the sound, I saw a girl in red, carrying a small bamboo basket, her long hair flowing, like a fairy in the forest. Her slender figure skipped and hopped, and her large breasts were exceptionally full, seemingly even larger than Xue'er's, bouncing up and down with her movements.

I was mesmerized. A thought struck me: this was Li Dezhong's daughter, Li Shi! She had truly blossomed into a beautiful young woman in just a few years. No wonder she was one of the Seven Fairies of Jiangnan.

I quickly pulled Xue'er towards her.

"Sister, please wait."

Shi'er stopped and looked at me. At first, she just tilted her head to look at Xue'er and me, then her beautiful big eyes lingered on my face. After a while, she suddenly ran up to me happily and patted my chest, saying, "Oh my god, isn't this Brother Xuan? You've grown so tall in all these years!"

She pinched my arm and tapped my forehead, still as affectionate as she had been six years ago.

"Hehe, you've grown so much in all these years too,"

I said, staring intently at her pair of full, round breasts. I thought to myself, they are indeed bigger than Xue'er's. It's truly amazing how nature works; the difference between her huge breasts and her slender figure is enormous, yet the two complement each other perfectly.

Shi'er smiled broadly and innocently replied, "Everyone grows up, right?"

I chuckled, "But yours is especially big."

Shi'er then realized I was taking advantage of her, blushing and protesting, "Haven't seen you in years, how can you still be so indecent? You're even bullying me!"

She glared at me with a smile and then ignored me, looking at Xue'er beside her in surprise, "Who is this sister? She's so pretty! Hmm! Her complexion is terrible… Are you poisoned?"

Xue'er was gentle and refined… Shi'er smiled faintly and said, "Sister, you truly are the descendant of a divine physician. A few days ago, I was wounded by a poisoned weapon and was deeply poisoned. I thought I couldn't escape this calamity and should simply accept my fate. But perhaps it was not my time to die, for I was rescued by Young Master Lin in my time of crisis. He told me that in this world, only the divine physician Li could cure the poison in my body."

I quickly echoed, "Indeed, as early as twenty years ago, it was widely rumored in the martial arts world that Uncle Li possessed heaven-defying divine arts, capable of bringing even the dead back to life."

Shi'er smiled and said, "Alright, alright, you can only bring a dead man back to life by talking him. My father doesn't have that ability. I'll take you to see Father now. You're Brother Xuan's friend, so Father will definitely help you get treatment."

Shi'er skipped and hopped along the way, sometimes chatting idly beside me, sometimes whispering in Xue'er's ear. The two of them would occasionally glance at me and giggle, probably Shi'er recounting embarrassing things from my youth. Soon we arrived at several small bamboo huts. Shi'er skipped and hopped into one, and Xue'er and I followed.

"Father, Father, look who's here!"

came an old man's voice from inside. "What are you shouting for so early in the morning? I told you to go gather herbs, why are you back so early?"

The old man slowly emerged from the inner room.

"Oh, isn't this Xuan'er? You've grown into a big boy in just a few years! Haha, how's your father?"

Uncle Li smiled and walked towards me with a kind expression. I quickly stepped forward, clasped my hands in greeting, and said, "Uncle Li, hello. Your nephew greets you. Father has been doing well, but I've missed you often since we last met. I always hope that you can come back to the manor to stay for a while when you have some free time."

"Haha, good, good, good. I'll go to Tianyuan Manor to see that old man after a while."

With Xue'er's poison still on my mind, I didn't bother with small talk with Uncle Li and directly explained the reason for my visit.

"Uncle Li, I've come today with a favor to ask."

"What is it? We're all family, no need for formalities."

He then called Xue'er forward. "This is Miss Qin Xue'er. A few days ago, we were being chased. Miss Qin bravely shielded me from a poisoned nail to save me. So please, Uncle Li, you must save Miss Qin no matter what."

Xue'er stepped forward weakly and said, "I am Qin Xue'er, and I have come seeking medical help. I hope you, Physician Li, will treat me."

Uncle Li looked Xue'er over and said, "Show me your hand."

He examined Xue'er's palm, then her face, grabbed my hand and looked at my palm, then my face.

"Five Spider Poisons, how did you get chased by the Miao people?"

I quickly shook my head. "Miao people? No, it was the hidden weapon of 'Tiger Slayer Blade' Duan Tianhu." Uncle

Li looked surprised: "Didn't Duan Tianhu wield a broadsword? When did he start using hidden weapons?"

I said indignantly, "I never expected him to use hidden weapons, which is why Xue'er's master was assassinated."

Uncle Li shook his head and said disdainfully, "Hmph, so he's a despicable villain. This isn't ordinary poison; it's poison made by that old poisoner Pang Ye."

A chill ran down my spine: "Pang Ye? 'Hundred-Life Poison Doctor' Pang Ye? He's far away in Yunnan and has been in hiding for many years. How could Duan Tianhu have any connection with him?"

Li Dezhong sighed and said, "Only that old geezer could make such a strange poison. As for why Duan Tianhu has this kind of poison, I have no idea."

"I've heard my father say since I was little that in this world, there are only a handful of doctors whose medical skills can rival Uncle Li's, and Pang Ye is one of them. I've heard he's very fond of making poisons; six of the ten most potent poisons in the world are said to be his creations. The title 'Poison Doctor' comes from one of his peculiar habits. Legend has it that although he's a member of a cult, he's inherently kind and can't bear to kill. Whenever he creates a new poison, he tests it on himself and then treats himself. Over the decades, he's tasted hundreds of poisons, yet none have killed him. Therefore, people admire not only his poison-making skills but also his medical expertise." -

Li Dezhong Gazing at the distant mountains, perhaps recalling past events from his youth, he nodded and sighed, "Yes, that old poisoner is indeed extraordinary, but don't worry, I will definitely help you detoxify."

Xue'er, hearing Uncle Li's words, looked puzzled: "Dr. Li, you kept mentioning 'you,' does that mean I'm not the only one poisoned?"

This time, it was Li Dezhong's turn to look puzzled: "What, Xuan'er, don't you even know you've been poisoned?"

Xue'er and I were both startled, and Shi'er also looked surprised: "Dad, how come I didn't notice Xuan'er was poisoned?"

"Compared to this young girl, your brother Xuan's poison isn't as deep, so it's not easily noticeable. But if it's left untreated for ten days, even if the old poisoner comes on its own, it will likely be too late."

I grew increasingly frightened as I listened. "When was I poisoned? I wasn't hit by the poisoned nail."

Li Dezhong shook his head and sighed, "Did you suck the poisoned blood from this young girl's wound after she was poisoned?"

I wanted to answer no, but Xue'er gently tugged at my sleeve. We looked at each other and understood. Xue'er had vomited a mouthful of poisoned blood after taking the Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill, and I had just kissed her at that moment, unknowingly swallowing the poisoned blood from her mouth.

Xue'er looked at me in a panic, her face full of self-reproach. I smiled slightly at her and gently pressed her palm a few times to comfort her. "It's alright, Uncle Li will definitely have a way. Uncle Li, your medical skills are extraordinary, this little bit of poison is nothing to you, right?"

Uncle Li looked at me, then at Xue'er: "What's the relationship between you two?"

Xue'er and I were full of questions. Why was Uncle Li asking this now? I looked at Xue'er, who was also looking at me tenderly, her shy eyes full of expectation.

I said firmly, "Xue'er and I have already pledged our lives to each other!"

"Ah!"

Shi'er exclaimed in surprise. I couldn't help but feel a pang of emotion and looked into her eyes. I saw that her clear and bright eyes were full of sorrow. Only then did I understand the little girl's feelings for me. I stole a glance at Xue'er, not knowing whether to feel happy or sad.

Uncle Li broke the silence first, asking in a low voice, "Are you still a virgin?"

Xue'er nodded shyly, but Uncle Li shook his head helplessly.

"Everything would have been fine before, but what should we do now?"

I said anxiously. "Uncle Li, please speak frankly. As long as there's a cure, that's all that matters."

Uncle Li looked us over, finally sighing and shaking his head repeatedly. My heart was in turmoil, filled with fear, afraid that he, too, had no way to save us. I quickly turned back and grasped Xue'er's soft hand, about to say something to comfort her, when I saw her smile slightly at me and whisper in my ear, "Xue'er, don't be afraid. Xue'er only hates herself for hurting you."

My nose stung, and I choked up, unable to speak. I could only look at her quietly, hoping she wouldn't be too sad.

"You two go and rest first. I'll think of something else."

With that, I walked into the inner room. Shi'er looked at me with worry and followed me in.

"Father, what method can we use to save Brother Xuan and Sister Xue'er? Tell me! You always boast about your medical skills, but you can't possibly be unable to cure Pang Ye's poison, can you?"

Li Dezhong, annoyed that she said he was inferior to Pang Ye, waved her sleeve impatiently and said, "Go, go, go, arrange a place for them to rest. Let me have some peace and quiet."

A moment later, Shi'er came out sheepishly, forcing a smile as she looked at us, "Brother Xuan, Sister Xue'er, it's alright. My father is like this. He always makes a big fuss beforehand, saying how difficult your illness or poison is to cure, that even a great immortal would be helpless. Only after you're anxious and worried will he treat you and cure your poison. That way, he can show off his medical skills, you know? He loves it when people praise him. Come, let me take you to rest first."

Such nonsense, she probably didn't even believe what she herself said. It was clear that her charming demeanor, as she tried her best to comfort him, had improved his mood.

"By the way, Brother Xuan, do you remember I told you I have an older brother? He left home to study martial arts six years ago, so we didn't get to know each other. Now that he's back home, I've invited him over so you can meet and get to know each other better."

Since he's Li Dezhong's son, he must be an outstanding person. I nodded and smiled, "Of course! I've heard you mention your brother several times, and I've long wanted to meet him."

As I spoke, he led Xue'er and me to a small house. All the houses in the forest were built of bamboo, and this house was no exception. The furnishings inside were also made of green bamboo: a bed, a cabinet, a table, and four chairs. Beside the bed stood a tall bamboo shelf, neatly stacked with medical books, all yellowed and wrinkled, indicating they had been treasured for a long time and frequently read. Although the house was small, it was surprisingly fresh and comfortable. Taking a deep breath, my mind became peaceful and serene.

Xue'er and I smiled at each other, both very satisfied with the place. Shi'er watched us quietly, no longer speaking, a faint smile always on her beautiful face.

I remained indifferent, a sense of melancholy rising in my heart. Just as I was about to say something, I heard her say, "Alright, then I won't disturb you two any longer. I'll introduce my brother to you later when we eat." She

hurriedly closed the door and ran off without waiting for Xue'er and me to say anything.
