In 2002, I attended a conference in Jinan. I was a fresh graduate, a clueless young man, there to learn. The three-day training was at a government-run guesthouse. Each time I opened the door, a waitress had to do it. A group of colleagues from other companies were on the same floor. A bunch of experienced guys were eyeing the waitress who opened the doors, trying to flirt with her. Of course, I only found out later; back then, I had no keen observation skills. On the last night, the waitress opened my door and said something I'll never forget: "They all talk to me, why don't you talk to me?" Intrigued, I took a closer look. She was a young woman, not stunningly beautiful, but pretty, petite and cute. Thinking I had a chance, I replied directly: "Really? I'll treat you to dinner tonight. What time do you want to get off?" I didn't give her any chance to refuse. She said nine o'clock, so I told her to meet me at the door after get off work and gave her my phone number. I looked forward to dinner. And so it went. My first time picking up a girl was incredibly simple, something I can't believe, and it's never been that easy since. I didn't even say a word, just asked her out. To be continued!
