We went to Dicos and found a seat near the mall. (Let's call her Little Dragon Girl because her husband's name contains the character for dragon.) Little Dragon Girl sat inside, and I sat on the side near the aisle. I asked her if she wanted something to drink, and she said that she had already drunk a lot of coffee while waiting for me. I apologized and said that I was sorry to have kept them waiting for so long. She kindly said that it was okay.
At that moment, I looked up at the girl. She wasn't very tall, but her smile was sweet. She wore silk leggings with a white lace skirt, and had bright, sparkling eyes. Her short hair gave her a particularly elegant air. We started chatting. It turned out she was from Northwest China, a region known for its beautiful mountains and rivers, the birthplace of Sichuan, famous for its beautiful women. She wasn't timid, or perhaps she was, but she didn't show it. Seeing them made me genuinely happy and pleased. Firstly, I felt quite ashamed for not keeping our appointment, and secondly, they gave me a great sense of trust. Both of them were very genuine and sincere, which calmed my nerves, though I was still a little excited. We talked for about ten minutes. I don't know if Brother Long really needed to use the restroom or intentionally stepped aside to give us some time to get to know each other better. She refused several times for more coffee or juice, but I still went and got two coffees and a juice!
I asked her how she felt about me, and whether she was disappointed.
Little Dragon Girl said: My husband told me there's someone who seems pretty good, quite polite. I listened to my husband.
I truly felt lucky, because this was my first step, my first attempt. We talked about some work-related matters while waiting for Brother Long to return. He came back shortly, and the three of us chatted for a while. Finally, I mustered up the courage to ask, "What do you think of me? Can you accept me?" Brother Long said, "Maybe next time, I have to work tomorrow." Finally, unable to resist my persuasion, I saw Brother Long looking at Xiaolongnu for her opinion! Seeing a glimmer of hope, I said I'd look at two rooms. Brother Long said one room would be fine.
