Slimmer women are more attractive

A recent study published in the British Daily Mail by the University of Aberdeen found that men find thinner women more attractive, associating this body type with youth, fertility, and a lower risk of disease.
Researchers first conducted a theoretical analysis, arguing that human aesthetics are highly correlated with the instincts of biological evolution. People find a woman's figure attractive because evolution drives them to instinctively believe she has a higher survival and fertility rate. Therefore, researchers developed corresponding mathematical models combining the relationships between obesity and mortality rates, and obesity and fertility rates.
To validate the model, the research team surveyed over 1,300 male and female volunteers from nine countries, asking them to rank a series of images of women's silhouettes by attractiveness. Researchers used Body Mass Index (BMI) to represent a woman's weight, with thinner individuals having lower BMIs. The results showed that all participants ranked the images very similarly, and a negative correlation existed between a woman's attractiveness and her degree of obesity. In other words, people do indeed perceive thinner women as more attractive.
When researchers incorporated the relationship between age and body mass index (BMI) into a mathematical model, they found that the optimal BMI fit was between 17 and 20, which is precisely the range of what is considered the most attractive body type in actual observation. The revised theoretical model effectively explains the psychological mechanism behind the preference for thinness—the body type that is generally considered most attractive in women perfectly matches the BMI of young women who have the highest future fertility and viability. This explains why the average BMI of cover girls and sexy actresses is between 17 and 20.
Do you know how sperm is produced?
The seminiferous epithelium in the testes is the site of sperm production. The testes contain a large number of seminiferous tubules, estimated to be about 400 to 600 per testis, with a total length of over 250 meters, forming a "huge" sperm-making "factory," which is why the testes can produce hundreds of millions of sperm every day.
The seminiferous epithelium within the seminiferous tubules contains two types of cells: spermatogenic cells and Sertoli cells. The Sertoli cells are bound together by tight junctions, forming a barrier that prevents communication between the seminiferous tubule lumen and the outside environment. Spermatogenesis begins with spermatogonia undergoing six mitotic divisions to develop into 64 primary spermatocytes. Each primary spermatocyte undergoes the first meiotic division to become two secondary spermatocytes, which then undergo the second meiotic division to become four spermatids. At this stage, spermatids contain only half of the 23 pairs of chromosomes, i.e., all 23 chromosomes. For sex chromosomes, spermatids contain only either an X or a Y chromosome. Thus, the 64 primary spermatocytes become 256 spermatids. Spermatogonia and spermatocytes are round and lack tails; tails gradually appear after spermatid development. Spermatatids undergo 19 stages of processing and modification before finally developing into tadpole-shaped sperm.
Sperm detach from the tips of the Sertoli cells and enter the lumen of the seminiferous tubules. This completes the sperm's development within the testes, a process that takes approximately 64 days. After completing its development in the testes, the sperm enters the epididymis, where it remains for 2-3 weeks to develop into a mature sperm capable of motility and fertilization. Therefore, it takes about 90 days for a spermatogonium to develop into a mature sperm. This is why medications used to treat oligospermia and asthenospermia must be continued for 3 months.
