Volume 1, Chapter 1: Good Man Li Daquan.

Author: liantao2000.

Li Daquan's legend began with a peeping incident. Before that, he was just an ordinary, carefree, and somewhat timid freshman.

Nothing could better describe Li Daquan than ordinary. He was neither tall nor short, neither handsome nor ugly, and his temper was neither quick nor slow. In short, unless specifically mentioned, most people wouldn't notice his existence.

From a young age, Li Daquan never had lofty ambitions. When writing an essay in elementary school on the topic "What is my ideal?", Daquan wrote that when he grew up, he wanted to marry a wife, have children, and guarantee three ounces of pork and a bowl of rice at every meal. As a result, he was ridiculed for a long time by classmates who declared they wanted to be presidents, financial tycoons, doctors, and lawyers. The teacher sighed and gave the essay a score of 60, adding a heavy comment at the end: "A piece of rotten wood cannot be carved!" making Daquan blush with embarrassment.

But Daquan quickly forgot about it. Indeed, what's wrong with being ordinary? Why must one become a celebrity? Aren't there enough famous people in history? One more won't make a difference. Life is... just be alive, be happy, don't think too far ahead, or you'll get tired.

With this mindset, Daquan stumbled through middle school. Although his grades were never good, he still managed to get into university, pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical and electrical engineering—his father wanted him to study that. Daquan's family ran a small motorcycle repair shop, and with college graduates finding jobs increasingly difficult, it seemed Daquan wouldn't amount to much. They'd just wait for him to graduate and come home to help out.

Daquan was a local, and the school provided accommodation. He rested in the dormitory at noon and went home for dinner and sleep.

He didn't spend much time in the dormitory, but he got along very well with his roommates. There were six of them in the dormitory, including him, and Daquan didn't mind, always happy to help his roommates with small favors. "Out of toothpaste? Use mine." "I don't go back to the dormitory often, you can leave your things in my place." "This is chicken and turtle soup that my family simmered for seven hours, brothers, have a bite." Daquan often said things like this.

The second semester of his freshman year was packed with courses: advanced mathematics, English, mechanical drawing, and more, each more difficult than the last, plus a metalworking internship at the end of the semester. But Daquan wasn't worried at all. Studying... as long as he could graduate, that was enough. Take last semester, for example; although he had to retake three out of six courses, he still passed them all, didn't he?

That evening, Daquan, as usual, locked himself in his bedroom and played a racing game on his computer. To avoid his mother knowing he wasn't studying diligently, he kept the volume very low.

When his phone rang, Daquan jumped in surprise.

It was Wen Caozhi calling: "Daquan, what are you doing?"

"What else? Such a beautiful night, of course I'm playing games." Daquan thought his question was adorable.

"Finished your drawing assignment?"

"No, I'm not planning to. I'm copying from the Kelu list in class tomorrow."

"Haha, just like I thought... can you help me?"

"Quick, tell me, I just got to the hardest corner." Daquan held the phone between his ear and shoulder, his hands frantically typing, almost breathless.

"Help me clean the ping-pong room, I still need to write poetry." Wen Cao knew Da Quan was always eager to help.

"Can't I go tomorrow morning?" Da Quan didn't refuse, but it was late, and his home was far from school, so he didn't want to go.

"No, we have PE class first thing tomorrow morning, unless you go back to school early... You haven't forgotten your classes, have you?"

"Okay, I'll go." Compared to that, Da Quan was even less willing to get up early. After talking for a while, the motorcycle crashed into the guardrail, spinning around and belching black smoke. Da Quan simply quit the game.
