In my youth, I climbed the mountain of my hometown several times—I can't recall exactly how many. It was a very dilapidated hill, and each time I reached the summit, I felt a surge of emotion, a desire to write something down and commemorate it forever in a book. But this wish has yet to be fully fulfilled.
Standing atop the mountain, overlooking the landscape of my hometown, I thought, how many stories of joy and sorrow, of lovesick men and women, must have unfolded there. There's a saying, "Men are like mountains, women are like water," but I feel it can have a different meaning. Why can't women be like mountains? Beautiful and graceful, changing with the seasons. Men, on the other hand, are like water, sometimes raging, sometimes gentle, but always flowing around the mountain. So let me etch the image of women, like mountains, into my very being! The pent-up emotions in my heart need some outlet, some poignant expression. No matter how heavy the burdens of life may be, there will always be a ray of light, and that is enough.
Therefore, I dedicate this book, both for my own amusement and to others, both for my own and others', as a preface.

Several times I've dreamt of the mountains of my hometown, falling asleep in the dampness of my pillow. Looking back, they seem like smoke and mist, long since dissipated, yet upon reflection, they are like aged wine, intoxicating and tantalizing. The midwife, sweating profusely and beaming with joy, rushed out of the room, shouting, "It's born! It's born! It's a boy! Where is the master of the house…?"
A roar of congratulations erupted as the crowd surrounded the man of the house, showering him with endless praise. Then, a superstitious old man stroked his beard and said, "This child is extraordinary! His birth was difficult, but a star descended from heaven to protect him. He's destined for greatness! You don't know, it's all written in ancient books; extraordinary people are born with all sorts of strange phenomena! Our Huanxiu Town has good feng shui; another great person is about to emerge!" As soon as he finished speaking, someone who always looked down on everyone retorted, "If you want to tell stories, go home! This is feudal superstition!"
