The story begins in November 2001 in Beijing…
Looking back, more than 20 years have passed without me even realizing it, and we've maintained almost constant contact. Sometimes we meet more than 10 times a year, sometimes 3-5 times, but overall we've kept in close contact.
Initially, I met the older gentleman first; we had many common topics and got along very well.
At that time, I was unmarried and working alone in Beijing. Our meeting was quite coincidental. We were both in the service industry, and the gentleman had contacted us because of a problem with his home appliances. The next day, my colleagues and I went to his home to repair the equipment. Later, he introduced us to many clients and businesses. During holidays, I would visit his family and bring them local specialties. Life went on like this, day after day. I got a girlfriend, and his family met me and we even had a few meals together.
A while before the wedding, I was feeling anxious and stressed because of work, so I drank and chatted with the old man to release my pent-up emotions. I told him about my relationship with my girlfriend, including some details about our sex life. As an elder, he gave me a lot of advice and suggestions about future work, and we talked quite late. When I got back, I found the gate to our residential area locked. I called him and said I couldn't get in, so he suggested I stay at his place. At first, I was a little hesitant, worried about disturbing them. He and his wife said it was fine, it was just for one night, and I could go back the next morning.

Early summer in Beijing is still quite hot. I had a few drinks that night and couldn't sleep well. In the middle of the night, I got up to go to the bathroom and heard noises coming from their bedroom. Having had sex with my girlfriend before, I knew a little about it; they weren't asleep, probably exercising. It was much cooler in the latter half of the night, so I wasn't sweating too much, which was suitable for exercising. I drowsily returned to the bedroom, but couldn't fall asleep again. About 20 minutes later, I heard the sound of someone going to the bathroom, so I pretended to be asleep…
After a few minutes, they came out, and I got up to pee. Inadvertently, I saw a wad of used toilet paper in the trash can. On a whim, I opened it and saw it was still damp and smelled strongly of urine, so I just threw it in the trash can. I went back to sleep, and after a while, it gradually got light. I got up, made the bed, and left…
