Book of Fate

Prologue

As the sun rises in the east, a slanting red light shines down, instantly illuminating the hillside, villas, and woods north of the small river.

Under the morning sun, a black Maserati GC (Grancabrio), a convertible sports car, speeds along the deserted road, winding its way through the outermost gate of the enclosure, heading inwards.

There are no villa complexes here, because the hundreds of acres of land at the foot of the mountain are privately owned, with rows of luxurious villas surrounded by high walls and thick fences. These European-style villas, designed by renowned architects, resemble works of art displayed on this secluded hillside.

The villas themselves are few; this enclosed land is mostly landscaped courtyards, with a large rose garden planted with neat rows of red roses that blaze like fire in the sunlight.

It stands like an aristocrat, surveying the small village across the river. Whenever the villagers look here, they are filled with awe, feeling as if they are looking up at a palace.

Because the owner of this modern manor is not just rich, but possesses far more than just money. The villagers have all heard his legends: the manor is not only riddled with surveillance cameras and electric fences, but also patrolled day and night by dozens of strong security guards, ferocious hunting dogs, and even… rumor has it that he keeps leopards that have once mauled intruders, leaving them screaming in agony as they fled. Someone

with such extravagance is certainly no ordinary person!

The villagers spread the word that this tycoon, who has connections in both the legal and illegal worlds, started in the security industry but has a tainted background, having served time in prison. His company's security guards are all involved in organized crime. After he rose to prominence, he aggressively expanded into automobiles, real estate, film… his companies span dozens of industries, and his monthly income is astronomical!

Such a tycoon was able to build his business empire from scratch, undoubtedly through a combination of favorable timing and circumstances. However, various rumors already circulated among the villagers.

Some say the tycoon rose to power through shady means, his path fraught with bloodshed and devastation, leaving behind a trail of unburied corpses beneath his mountains of gold and silver; others say he received government support, allowing him to rise to prominence so quickly; still others say he used despicable methods to seize all the assets of his wife's family, causing the ruin of his father-in-law who appreciated him; some say he dreamt of lottery numbers, his wealth a divine gift…

Countless rumors, fueled by curiosity, remained locked away within the beautiful manor, stimulating the imagination…

A black luxury sports car pulled up in front of the main house. A well-dressed young man stepped out, robust and handsome, his gold-rimmed glasses softening his menacing appearance and adding a touch of competence. It was hard to imagine that this man in his early thirties was already the general manager of a large corporation.

Holding a briefcase, he gestured to the security guards and butler to park the car, then strode quickly into the main house, passing through the opulent halls and arriving at the backyard.

Beside the lush green lawn was a square swimming pool, its water crystal clear. With a splash, a "mermaid" emerged from the water, her long, wet hair reflecting a youthful and beautiful face.

The woman walked up, wearing a red one-piece swimsuit; her round hips swayed alluringly with the movement of her slender waist. Two small mounds of white flesh peeked out from under the swimsuit, moving rhythmically, water droplets clinging to them sliding down her thighs, making one's mouth dry.

Just as she came up, the young man passed by. She grabbed a towel from a chair by the pool and dried herself. "You're here to see him again? What's it about this time?"

The young man replied, "There's an official document that only his personal signature can approve. Xiao Huo, why did you go swimming this morning? It's so cold." This girl, named Xiao Huo, was quite a character.

Xiao Huo dried herself, saying, "I'm a martial artist, after all, I'm not afraid." She vigorously rubbed her long hair, her large breasts jiggling, which the young man saw clearly.

The young man smiled and asked, "Little Fire, how's your boyfriend?"

Little Fire stopped what she was doing and said, "Too young. No chance."

The young man advised, "You're not getting any younger, it's time to get married."

Little Fire's gaze lingered on his face, and she said coquettishly, "You're not married yet, why should I be in a hurry? Anyway, he hasn't said anything, so don't rush me." She quickly wiped her face and said, "Breakfast is almost ready, brother. I'll go with you to see him, and then we can have breakfast as a family."

Regardless of whether the young man agreed or not, she hooked her arm around his, pressed against his body, and said softly, "Okay, let's go." They left the pool together and went to the garden behind.

In the garden, next to a clump of Carola roses, a tall figure stood alone, seemingly admiring the flowers in the morning light. He was over sixty years old, with gray hair, and leaned on a cane, but he stood as straight and tall as a pine tree, showing no signs of aging.

Little Fire led him there, stuck out her tongue, and turned to leave. The young man was a little helpless, but he quickly composed himself and walked forward to the old man's side.

Many years have passed, and he himself has long been a renowned and ruthless figure, whether in the business world or the underworld. Yet, every time he sees his father, he can't help but feel nervous…

The young man stood before his father, his attitude respectful. The old man's gaze was fixed on the bright red roses, not glancing at anything else, and he simply asked, "What is it?"

The young man nervously replied, "Dad, that development project in Malaysia, after two and a half years of negotiations, has finally been finalized. It's estimated that our side will invest 35 billion, with the other party contributing land as equity, and the return on investment is expected in about seven years… Here is the report; please take a look." He took the report from his briefcase and handed it to him.

The old man looked at his son's energetic and handsome face and said indifferently, "You're the general manager; you can make the decisions yourself." He didn't take the report, appearing lazy.

The young man bowed respectfully and said, "Dad, this deal is too big. I've discussed it repeatedly with everyone, but we're still unsure. We need your advice."

The old man grunted, then took the booklet and flipped through dozens of pages of documents in a few minutes. He said, "Go ahead and give it a try. It's a good deal, and you've done a good job. But there are a few things that need to be revised. First, the land the other party promised to provide, the usage period is..."

The young man quickly took out paper and pen and scribbled down his father's words. After finishing, he let out a long sigh of relief. "Dad, you're really capable, so efficient."

The old man smiled and said, "No one is born knowing everything. This is the result of years of experience. You haven't been handling this business for long. As long as you work hard, you can do even better than me in the future."

The young man agreed to everything and said, "Dad, there's one more thing I need to ask you about."

The old man remained silent, listening quietly.

“A company has appeared in the last few days, led by a Dutch-Chinese guy. They opened several nightclubs right away, competing with us and stealing our customers. Yesterday they even sent people to our place to frame us for drug trafficking. They're practically asking for trouble.” The young man took off his glasses, his face full of anger, like an enraged lion.

The old man didn't react much. Nightclubs and loan sharks were nothing special in his business. Even if he handed them all over, it wouldn't shake the foundation. What he needed to care about was the reactions from all sides.

“…How are everyone’s reactions?” the old man asked calmly.

The young man puffed out his chest. “I’ve never encountered anyone so suicidal. The brothers are furious, itching for a fight. They’re ready to make them disappear from here at your command. This time, they won’t even find a trace of them.”

Lowering his voice, the young man said, “Director Fang also said that as long as you nod, Father, he’ll handle the aftermath and guarantee there won’t be any trouble.”

…These situations were within the old man’s expectations. The ironclad empire he had built over decades was not something that could be easily pried open by outsiders.

...In last night's dream, he already knew who the other party was, why they had come, and what hidden cards and traps they held—it was definitely not just the little things displayed on the table.

...But...so what?

He, too, was hiding his claws to lure the enemy. If he had that intention, the other party would discover that his supposedly ingenious traps, his supposedly well-hidden strength, and his already-contracted allies would all be crushed to dust in an instant.

Because, compared to him now, they were merely weaklings that could be easily crushed with a single finger...If he had that intention...

The old man closed his eyes for a good ten seconds, and when he opened them again, his voice was as calm as still water.

"From this moment forward, dispose of all assets, including all stocks, companies, real estate, bars, casinos, nightclubs, etc., and transfer the funds to... England!"

"Yes... Ah? Dad!"

The young man was stunned, unable to believe what he was hearing. His father was only in his early sixties; it was impossible for him to have lost his mind so early. They were just a weak, disorganized mob; they could have been crushed, or it wouldn't have mattered if they hadn't. Why...?

The old man looked up at the distant sky, where a few snow-white clouds drifted by, light and lively. Perhaps... life is nothing more than this...

...The green hills remain, the setting sun has reddened many times. The game he had long since grown tired of should be withdrawn, and new things should be sought. But...

the old man gazed at the white clouds and quietly said, "You know what? Lately, I've often thought that if your mother were still alive, I would rather have spent my whole life as a repair shop worker."

The young man was startled, standing quietly beside his father, watching the clouds drift by, letting his thoughts wander. Countless memories replayed like a revolving lantern, time seemingly returning to decades ago, to that small car factory on the verge of bankruptcy, the beginning of everything...

(1) Technological Innovation

Wanxin Repair Factory was originally a state-owned factory, which was later acquired by Jitong Company. Apart from laying off some cadres, there was not much change. The management personnel still managed, and the workers still did their jobs. If there was anything good, it was that the wages had doubled. What do people go to work for? Isn't it to earn more money and make life better? In a commodity society, money is king.

This factory is located in the suburbs of the provincial capital, which is relatively remote. It takes about an hour to get to the city center by car. The factory covers a large area and is divided into several sections. The various branches are separated by walls, but the gates are connected. In terms of production, they are both integrated and independent. Now, it is 6 p.m., half an hour after work. The employees have all left, and the yard is quiet. You can hear the falling leaves. But in the large repair workshop, several repairmen are still busy.

They are wearing oil-stained work clothes, and under the chandelier and lamp, their faces are black in patches, as if they are wearing makeup. They were squatting on the large frames, standing on the ground, or sitting under the carts, each wielding a wrench. Sweat blurred their vision, they wiped it away, and continued working. After tightening a few screws and connecting a few pipes, their task for the day would be finished.

The team leader, Lin Mufei, holding a hand lamp, said, "If you're tired, drink some water and keep going."

But no one wanted to stop; they all wanted to finish in one go.

Lin Mufei looked at them, remembering how he had worked like this when he was an apprentice, and felt a pang of nostalgia.

A moment later, he suddenly asked, "Where's Qin Feng? And Sun Erhu?"

Qin Feng was the factory engineer, his senior colleague. Sun Erhu was also a repairman, under his supervision. Known as the "workshop tyrant," he relied on his connections to avoid work and acted arrogantly, having been reprimanded by Lin Mufei many times.

Lin Mufei had gone upstairs to study in the afternoon and returned after 5 pm, not seeing the two. Qin Feng was always punctual, never late or leaving early. He saw Sun Erhu loitering in the workshop this morning, but didn't see him when he came back. Shouldn't he at least tell me before taking leave? That guy, damn it!

Xiao Li, twisting the wrench, said, "Boss, Qin Feng asked the foreman for leave around 4 PM, saying he had an event. I saw him smiling, his eyes shining; he might have gone to see a woman." Lin Mufei asked again, "Didn't Sun Erhu come in this afternoon?"

Xiao Li, facing Lin Mufei, continued working, saying, "He came in this afternoon. He was sleeping in the break room when two of his friends came and dragged him away. I heard them whispering. They went to see a woman."

Upon hearing "woman," the three men stopped what they were doing and stared wide-eyed at Xiao Li. You see, everyone in their group was single. These repairmen had never even touched a woman. The mere mention of a woman made them itch with desire.

Xiao Li glared at them and said, "Don't be like that. I can talk, but you can't stop. If you keep doing this, I won't say anything." The three of them immediately sprang into action.

Little Li, facing Lin Mufei, flashed a fawning smile, twirling the paddleboard as he spoke, "Those two guys said some pretty girls came to a bar, as fresh as scallions, and they're really good at it, able to make men fly. Sun Erhu heard that and immediately ran off."

Hearing this, the young men's eyes practically gleamed with greed.

Lin Mufei straightened his face and said, "Guys, we can't do that kind of thing. It's illegal. Even if it weren't illegal, it's not worth wasting our hard-earned money to cover our losses. People should strive for success and walk the straight path. Let's get to work."

Everyone fell silent and continued working.

Little Li said, "Boss, you're like a well-fed man who doesn't know the hunger of an empty one. You have a girlfriend, but we don't."

The others said, "That's right, with a girlfriend as amazing as Qin Yun, you must have succeeded, right?"

Lin Mufei smiled but didn't say anything.

After tightening the screws, Xiao Li spat at them and said, "You bunch of idiots! With our boss's skills, how could he not have succeeded? You're all incredibly stupid." Lin

Mufei thought of his girlfriend, his heart filled with emotion, and encouraged her, "Work hard, make more money, and you won't have to worry about not finding a wife." "

Everyone agreed, a wave of disappointment washing over them. In this consumerist society, in this big city, for a lowly repairman to marry a beautiful girlfriend was practically a pipe dream. How many people were as lucky as Lin Mufei? Three years at the factory, a model worker every year, with superb skills and a bright future.

Moreover, before joining the factory, he already had Qin Yun, a beautiful female college student who excelled in every subject. What did he do to win her heart? Just his character and skills? That seemed unbelievable.

When others asked him about it, Lin Mufei smiled but remained silent. Actually, he was quite pleased.

Qin Yun was his girlfriend, a freshman in college this year, gentle and kind. She was beautiful, academically excellent, and their relationship was even better. She was..." Qin Feng's younger sister; the three of them were childhood sweethearts. He needed to work hard to buy an apartment as soon as possible so that the two could marry after Qin Yun graduated.

A dozen minutes later, the sun set, casting its rays across the landscape, bathing part of the workshop in a reddish glow. The workshop quieted down; the repairmen washed their faces, changed their clothes, and went home laughing and joking.

Only Lin Mufeng remained in the large workshop. He walked from one end of the workshop to the other, carefully checking every corner to make sure everything was alright before finally relaxing.

He turned off the lights, switched off the workshop power, and strode towards Zheng Li's office.

Zheng Li was the workshop director and also his most respected mentor. He owed his success entirely to his mentor's guidance. Otherwise, how would the higher-ups know who he was?

Without his master's help, he might still be like Xiao Li and the others, playing with boards in oilcloths. People often say that a small act of kindness should be repaid with great gratitude. Lin Mufei often thought that when his master needed him, he would go through fire and water without hesitation.

However, there was one thing he didn't understand. Qin Feng had also followed his master, so he was considered his master's disciple, so why wasn't his master as close to him? It was as if his master was guarding against him. His master would let him stay at his house, but never intended to let Qin Feng stay. Why was that?

Lin Mufei pushed open the door and entered. Zheng Li was smiling at a blueprint. He suddenly stood up and shouted, "Mufei, we're awesome! Victory is just around the corner!"

Lin Mufei walked over and saw a gourd-shaped diagram on the blueprint, full of lines, pipes, and annotations. He sincerely praised, "Master, you're amazing! You actually designed this device. I thought it would take years."

Zheng Li patted Lin Mufei on the shoulder and said, "It's all thanks to your reminder. Otherwise, I'd still be groping in the dark." He pointed to the diagram and began to explain the technology.

Although he was only a workshop foreman now, a few years ago, Zheng Li was the chief engineer of Jitong Company. The sports cars he designed made a name for themselves internationally. He was a key contributor to Jitong Company's transformation from an ordinary small company into the huge conglomerate it is today. But for some reason, he didn't rise to prominence. Instead, he was demoted to this small car factory as a lowly workshop foreman.

Although demoted, Zheng Li did not give up his research and design work. Having worked in mechanical technology for many years, he was always dissatisfied with existing engines and sought technological innovation to achieve better fuel economy, environmental friendliness, and performance. Over the years, Lin Mufei followed him, initially learning from his mentor and later becoming a competent and capable assistant.

The two consulted numerous documents and combined their years of practical experience to find two possible solutions: one was to replace the air filter with a high-flow air core to increase air intake; the other was to replace the cylinder head gasket to improve power.

Zheng Li poured his heart and soul into this. Experiment after experiment, failure after failure, frustrated him to the point of tearing up blueprints and smashing products. A few months ago, when he was almost in despair, Lin Mufei suggested: adding a special device to the engine to change the air composition and help with complete combustion.

Zheng Li's eyes lit up; he had a sudden realization.

After several months of hard work, Zheng Li made a breakthrough, and success was imminent.

He pointed to the gourd and said, "Look, this is it. It's a device composed of a set of chemical substances, including titanium, aluminum, and other natural metals. When air passes through this metal combination, a chemical reaction occurs, decomposing it into hydrogen and oxygen ions. At the same time, the negative ions in the air generate infrared radiation magnetization, thereby increasing the acidity in the cylinder, effectively reducing the humidity of airborne particles, and fully stimulating the activity of the air."

He then pointed to the entire engine diagram and excitedly said, "With it, the power will increase by 15% to 20%, and it will be more environmentally friendly and economical. Once successful, it will definitely change the times."

Looking at his master's confident and spirited appearance, Lin Mufeng was filled with respect and said: "Master, then you'll be a master, destined for history. So, let's call this device the 'Zheng's Combustion Aid.'"

Zheng Li laughed loudly. "Zheng's Combustion Aid? What are you talking about? We developed this device together. Where do you put yourself?"

Lin Mufei scratched his head. "How can I compare to you, Master? I just helped out."

Zheng Li shook his head. "You're the only one who truly supports this old man. I know how loyal and diligent you've been these past few years. Whatever Master needs in the future, you'll be included. Once it's finished, we'll be rich. You won't have to worry about buying a house and getting married in the provincial capital. There'll be hope for Zhuying's illness too. Sigh, is this illness even curable?" The smile vanished from his dark, thin face.

Lin Mufei comforted him, "Master, medicine is developing so fast now, how could it not be cured? We can treat Zhuying's illness after we've made the combustion aid."

Zheng Li slammed his hand on the table and said, "That's right. The most urgent thing is to make it and then put it into practice. As long as we prove it's successful, we can apply for a patent."

He slowly packed the things away, carefully locked them in a box, and instructed, "Don't tell anyone about this, including Qin Feng and Zhuying. Only heaven and earth know, you know, and I know. This thing can be deadly."

Lin Mufei puffed out his chest and said, "I'd rather die than tell."

Zheng Li smiled, the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes were very deep. He looked older than his actual age. He was also a pitiful man. Since that incident, his wife had run away, and his daughter was sick, but he had managed to get through it all. Now his daughter was in her first year of high school. If it weren't for that damned illness, this child would be perfect.

Looking up at the overhead light, Zheng Li seemed lost in thought, unconsciously clenching his fist and muttering, "Once this device is finished, I can go back... reclaim what's rightfully mine. Fifteen years... fifteen years..."

Lin Mufei found it strange; he had never seen his master with such an expression before. Zheng Li shook his head and waved his hand, saying, "There's something else. The factory is selecting a group of outstanding technicians to study abroad, you know that, right?"

"I heard. There are limited spots. There are dozens of people in our workshop, how could it be my turn? Besides, there's Qin Feng too, I won't make the cut." Lin Mufei didn't dare to dream.

Zheng Li waved his hand and said, "Mufei, 'A soldier who doesn't want to be a general isn't a good soldier.' You should seize any opportunity. I've already registered you."

"Thank you, Master." He was overjoyed.

"What are you thanking me for? Man proposes, God disposes. Whether I can go or not is not up to me."

Just as they were talking, a voice came from outside the door: "Dad, Mufei, come home for dinner. What time is it?"

The door opened and a fragrant breeze wafted in, and Zhuying was already standing in front of him. Lin Mufei's first reaction was to run away.

(2) Hot Girl's Passion

Several sets of light tubes were lit on the ceiling of the office, and the snow-white light shone everywhere, leaving almost no dead corners. Even so, Zhuying's arrival was still a sight to behold.

She was nineteen years old and well-developed. Her slightly protruding breasts pushed her white short-sleeved shirt out of the mound. She was over 1.7 meters tall, and her two thighs wrapped in light blue jeans were straight and long with beautiful lines. When she walked, her slender waist was flexible, and her beautiful legs moved forward alternately, which was very rhythmic. Just these features were enough to attract people. She also had a beautiful face, with bright eyes and white teeth, a high nose and red lips, and a heroic spirit.

Such an appearance was truly captivating; who would have thought such a beauty would be plagued by illness?

Although she was Zheng Li's daughter, Zhu Ying took her mother's surname, Zhang, instead of Zheng. Lin Mufeng didn't know why his master had made such an arrangement, but he was absolutely certain that his master cherished this daughter who didn't share his surname.

Lin Mufeng knew her too well and often compared her to Qin Yun, thinking that if she weren't ill, Zhu Ying would probably be even more charming, and he wondered which guy would end up with her.

Zhu Ying called out "Dad," then looked at Lin Mufeng with tender affection. Their eyes met, and Lin Mufeng was startled, quickly looking away.

Zhu Ying smiled, spun around in front of him like a top, and said sweetly, "Mu Fei, do you think I'm pretty?"

Lin Mu Fei hurriedly looked at the technical operation procedure diagram on the wall, saying, "Pretty, extremely pretty, so pretty that one dares not look directly at you."

Zhu Ying didn't shy away, stepped forward and put her arm around his shoulder, glancing at his face sideways, and chuckled, "What are you looking at? Am I not as good as that diagram?" The two were almost the same height and looked very well-matched.

Lin Mu Fei's face flushed; he dared not push her away, nor dared he enjoy it, even though the fragrant young girl's body was alluring. He looked pitifully at his master.

Zheng Li laughed heartily and said, "Zhu Ying, do you think your dad is invisible? Let go of Mu Fei, look how you've made him sweat."

Zhu Ying hugged him even tighter and snorted, "I won't let go. Who told him to change his mind? He doesn't want someone as good as me, and insists on having a girlfriend."

Lin Mu Fei's face immediately darkened upon hearing this, and he cried out that he was wronged.

Zheng Li explained, "Daughter, Mu Fei already had a girlfriend before coming to the city."

Zhu Ying glared at Lin Mu Fei and said resentfully, "That's still not acceptable. I don't agree, you're not allowed to date. Call her tomorrow and tell her it's over."

Hearing this, Lin Mu Fei almost fainted and said, "Zhu Ying, I'm just a working-class guy, no house, no car, and I'm so old, is it easy for me to find a girlfriend? If I break up with her, won't I be a bachelor for the rest of my life?"

Zhu Ying smiled again and said, "You can wait for me. We'll get married after I graduate from university. You don't need to wait too long. Two years of high school, four years of university, and two years of job hunting, that's only eight years, not even ten years." Her dark eyes darted around, very lively.

Hearing this, Lin Mu Fei's body went weak; if she hadn't been holding him, he would have collapsed to the ground. He was already twenty-four years old. In another eight years, all his peers and relatives would have children, and he would be single. He didn't know how to explain it to his parents.

Zheng Li frowned and sighed, "Daughter, please let him go."

Zhu Ying put on a righteous expression and actually released him, saying, "For your father's sake, I'll spare you this time. But, Mu Fei, you should be secretly happy. I've never been this close to any man in my life, and you've taken advantage of me. Let's get this straight, you're not allowed to get married unless I agree. If you don't listen, I'll expel you from the sect."

Lin Mu Fei looked miserable and said, "Yes, I understand." Then he realized what she meant.

"Zhu Ying, you've got it wrong. You've been learning martial arts from me for over a year, I'm the master. If we're talking about expelling someone from the sect, it's me who should expel you, not the other way around, right?" She turned to Zheng Li.

Before he could speak, Zhu Ying had already sternly addressed her father, saying loudly, "This has nothing to do with you, you're not allowed to say a word. If I get angry, I won't cook for you anymore." Zheng Li quickly shut up.

Zhu Ying turned her pretty face to Lin Mufei and said softly, "Mufei, I'm learning martial arts from you, but we address each other as brother and sister, not as master and disciple."

Lin Mufei said softly, "Not calling me master is one thing, but you've never called me brother either."

Zhu Ying smiled slyly and said, "Just call me that in your heart. Remember what I said. Let's go home for dinner."

Zheng Li remembered his business and said, "We're happy today, let's have a drink."

He led the two out of the office, greeted Old Liu who guarded the door, and headed home.

By this time, it was completely dark, and the streetlights were on, illuminating the smooth asphalt road for a long distance. Motor vehicles and bicycles moved along the road intermittently. But overall, it was still quiet. The suburbs have their advantages.

The walk home took less than ten minutes. He bought three bottles of Harbin beer at the supermarket. Entering his neighborhood, it felt even quieter. Most of the windows were lit, yellow and white lights, each household telling its own story.

Back home, they set out the meal, and the three of them sat down at the table to eat. Both men praised Zhu Ying's cooking, saying it was incredibly appetizing. Zhu Ying beamed.

Zheng Li was in high spirits; he finished his glass of baijiu (Chinese liquor) after Lin Mufei had finished a bottle of beer.

Zhu Ying asked him what good news he had, but the old man refused to say, only that his daughter's health was improving, and he was overjoyed. Zhu Ying's watery eyes then turned to Lin Mufei. He was even more stubborn, offering no valuable information other than talking about the factory and rambling drunkenly.

With the alcohol gone, Zheng Li became more talkative. On his second glass of baijiu, Zheng Li took a sip, put down the glass, and said with a sorrowful expression, "Mu Fei, I've failed so badly in my life. Because of my own blindness, I've lost my dreams and career, my wife ran off with someone else, and my daughter got that illness. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be able to survive. I don't know how to thank you enough."

Lin Mu Fei quickly said, "Master, you're like my father. There's no need for thanks between us. Don't say that again."

When he first met his master, his master was in a terrible situation. His daughter had suffered from epilepsy for many years and couldn't even go to school. His master couldn't work normally because he had to take care of his daughter. It was Mu Fei's father, a traditional Chinese medicine doctor, who provided a prescription that saved the family. After taking the medicine, Zhu Ying's condition improved a lot. She used to have one seizure a day, but now she has at most two a year. She wakes up quickly each time. So, she returned to school and continued her studies. Zheng Li could finally put down his "burden" and focus on his engine research. This was all thanks to Lin Mu Fei. But he thought it was only right. They were his family.

Zhu Ying had confessed her love many times, and he was touched, but he couldn't accept it. He only had Qin Yun in his heart. At the same time, he believed that Zhu Ying was still young, and this was just the beginning of her romantic feelings. Once she fully grew up and matured, and saw the world, she wouldn't value him so much. Besides, he had always considered her a younger sister.

Zheng Li looked at his daughter and said, "Zhu Ying is my precious darling. After her mother passed away, so many people tried to set me up with potential partners, but I didn't do any of them. I was afraid that another woman wouldn't treat her well. I'm already over fifty this year, and my health isn't very good. If I suddenly pass away one day, you must take good care of Zhu Ying. Even if you marry Qin Yun one day, you must take Zhu Ying with you."

Zhu Ying smiled upon hearing this. Lin Mufei's face changed color; he felt it was an ominous sign, somewhat like a will.

He said, "Master, fifty is the prime of life. I don't agree with what you're saying. You must have had too much to drink."

Zhu Ying laughed, "Dad, you're forcing me on him, he doesn't want to. Don't force him." She became virtuous again.

Lin Mufei quickly explained, "Master, that's not what I meant. I meant, someone as good as you will definitely live a long life."

Zheng Li smiled wryly and said, "I haven't done anything bad in my life, and I believe I'll live to be over seventy. I'm just doing this in case, aren't I? Will you promise me, Mufei?" Zhu Ying puffed out

her cheeks and curled her red lips, interjecting, "Dad, don't force him. It's fine if Mufei doesn't get married, but if he does, he'll have to spend every day with his wife. What am I supposed to do then? His wife will probably beat me out with a broom."

Zheng Li stared directly at his beloved disciple. Looking at his master's half-gray hair, flushed face, and expectant eyes, Lin Mufeng nodded and said, "Master, Zhuying will always be my sister. As long as I live, I will treat her well. Don't worry."

Zheng Li then smiled with satisfaction, clinked glasses with his disciple, took a big gulp, and said, "That's good, that's good."

Zhuying snorted, glanced at Lin Mufeng, and said, "What's so good about that? With my looks, if I saw Qin Yun, he would definitely divorce me. Then I would be a sinner."

Zheng Li pointed at his daughter and teased, "Zhuying, you're really shameless."

Lin Mufeng deliberately provoked her and said, "If you see her, you'll lose your confidence."

Zhuying stood up and said angrily, "I'm not talking to you anymore. You're so annoying." She put down her chopsticks, rushed into her boudoir, and slammed the door shut. No matter how much they called, she wouldn't come out.

Lin Mufei was taken aback, while Zheng Li laughed and said, "Ignore this crazy girl, let's continue drinking." The two clinked glasses and chatted. Before long, Lin Mufei finished his beer, and Zheng Li was already dizzy. Lin Mufei helped him back to his room to sleep.

When he came back to tidy up the table, Zhu Ying came out of the room again and worked with him. Unlike before, she took off her trousers and put on a pair of shorts, exposing her two long, fair legs to him, making his heart race.

He dared not look and wanted to finish quickly so he could escape back to his room. You know, it was too dangerous to stay with a girl like that.

(3) Bitterness and Sweetness

Lin Mufei carried the bowls, chopsticks and plates on the table to the kitchen. Zhu Ying did not come over. She had a stern face and was watching TV on the sofa in the living room. She was not still while watching TV. She changed the channel randomly, stood up and sat down, and her two thighs also straightened and bent, making various changes.

When she crossed her legs, it was even more interesting to see. One leg was pressed on the other, the tender flesh was tight, round and smooth, and shiny with white light. One foot was also swinging smugly, very mischievous. Each toenail was painted red, like a star.

But the shorts were really short, short to the top of her legs. After finishing his work, Lin Mufeng glanced at her and saw the beautiful flesh at the base of her thighs, a plump, semi-circular shape. So full, so alluring, so tight, it was near her buttocks. He also smelled a fragrance, probably her natural scent, a fleshy aroma that could easily stir the strings of desire.

Lin Mufeng was an experienced man, familiar with women, and naturally thought of his good times with Qin Yun. A fire rose in his heart, and his lower abdomen swelled, making his pants look like a Mongolian yurt. He looked away, turned towards his room, and wanted to escape.

"Wait a minute, I have something to tell you," Zhu Ying called out, her voice quite loud.

Lin Mufeng didn't dare to linger. Without turning back, he walked away, saying, "It's late, we can talk tomorrow." He opened the door and slipped out of the room. Sitting on the bed, he thought to himself, Zhu Ying isn't a child anymore, she knows how to seduce men now. I'd better be careful in the future, lest I fall into a trap.

He was in the darkness, with lights twinkling outside the window, the night seemed boundless. Because it was night, he felt safer. The presence of a door made him even more at ease. She was wild and mischievous, but she never came into his room at night.

He lay down, hoping to fall asleep early, fueled by the slight intoxication. But as soon as he closed his eyes, all he could see were those swaying thighs, the beautiful flesh of her inner thighs.

He tossed and turned in bed, silently reminding himself that he already had Qin Yun, and Zhu Ying was like a younger sister to him.

He took off his vest, leaving only his underwear, and pulled the covers over himself. Just as he was starting to feel sleepy, the door creaked open, and a dark figure flashed in, a fragrant scent wafting through the air. He didn't need to look to know who it was.

Lin Mufeng jumped in fright, sitting bolt upright, his hair standing on end. If the old man knew his daughter was in his room, wouldn't he kill him? She was the old man's lifeblood.

"Zhu Ying, what do you want?" he heard his own voice tremble.

The shadowy figure chuckled softly, saying, "Look at you, so timid, yet you call yourself a hero. What a joke!"

Lin Mufei gritted his teeth, "What do I have to fear from a little girl like you? I've fought tigers and killed wolves!"

The shadowy figure chuckled, saying, "Good, then. Here I come." In the darkness, she parted the blankets and slipped inside like a cat, nestling into his arms.

Oh, the feeling of holding soft, warm jade in his arms. By touch, he could tell she was only wearing a small blouse, no bra. Those two mounds were pressing against him. She was also wearing shorts. Her exposed skin was cool and smooth. When she rubbed against him, he almost saw sparks fly and heard the hissing sound.

Lin Mufei recoiled in fright, trembling, "Zhuying, are you trying to kill me?"

Seeing this, Zhuying turned away and began to sob. The sound waves flowed like water, making Lin Mufeng uncomfortable.

"Zhuying, let's talk this out. Why are you crying? Don't let Master hear."

Zhuying suddenly turned around, sobbing, "You're so annoying and disgusted with me, how can I not cry?"

Lin Mufeng quickly said, "I've never been annoyed or disgusted with you." Zhuying was overjoyed, quickly wiping away her tears, and said, "Then why didn't you say so earlier? You kept avoiding me." She leaned forward, her arms like vines, already wrapped around his neck, her body pressed tightly against him.

Lin Mufeng felt incredibly comfortable. Imagine, after so long of celibacy, having a fragrant, delicate beauty throwing herself into his arms in bed at night—how wonderful would that be? But what tormented him was that he absolutely could not enjoy such a blessing. Because this was his sister, not Qin Yun.

He wanted to push her away, but he dared not; if he accidentally touched her forbidden zone, he would be committing a grave sin.

Lin Mufeng pleaded urgently, "Zhuying, please don't do this! Let's talk this out. If you keep going like this, you'll kill me. Please, let me go!" His voice was filled with despair and fear, like a prisoner about to be beheaded.

Zhuying chuckled and said, "People say even heroes can't resist the charms of a beautiful woman, and it's true! You've taken such a big advantage of me, and I'm the one who's suffering. Since you're begging me, I might consider letting you go. But you have to agree to two conditions. Otherwise, I won't let you go." She nuzzled him with her small breasts and clamped him between her thighs, making Lin Mufeng suffer terribly. It was a sweet kind of pain.

In such a disadvantageous situation, Lin Mufeng wisely replied, "Okay, okay, you say it, I agree. Let me go now. I'm going to explode."

Zhuying wasn't stupid; she vaguely understood what she meant. Curious, she reached down and immediately touched something hot, large, and hard as iron—the most representative symbol of a man.

She recoiled as if struck by lightning, letting out a cry and pulling her hand back outside the covers, muttering, "You pervert." A high school girl, though sensible, she had never experienced such contact before, and was truly both ashamed and frightened.

Lin Mufeng felt a headache coming on, feeling more wronged than Yue Fei, thinking, "You're the one who initiated this, the one who harassed me, and now you're blaming me! My erection is because of sexual repression, because of Qin Yun, not because of you!

" Lin Mufeng was truly exasperated, saying, "Zhuying, just say what you want to say."

Zhuying composed herself and said, "You have to agree to two conditions."

"You've got it." He stepped out of bed and wrapped the blanket around himself again.

Zhuying said seriously, "First, you're not allowed to marry Qin Yun."

Lin Mufeng frowned, asking, "Why?"

"No reason. Because I don't agree. My dad said you have to take care of me forever. Think about it, what would I do if you married an unreasonable woman?"

Lin Mufeng thought to himself, "Qin Yun doesn't fit the description, but you do."

"And the second condition?" He decided not to answer.

Zhu Ying lay reclining on the bed, one hand supporting her cheek. In the dim light streaming in from the window, he could still see the white silhouettes of her thighs. A delicate fragrance wafted through the air.

Lin Mufei deliberately thought of Qin Yun, and his mood softened.

Zhu Ying said slowly, "Why is my dad so happy tonight? Is something good happening?"

"This..." Lin Mufei thought to himself, I can't say this, I swore an oath to the old man.

Seeing his hesitation, Zhu Ying resorted to her tricks. She bent one thigh and reached towards his body, sliding her toes from top to bottom, gently kicking when she reached his crotch.

Lin Mufei moved back a little and said, "Nothing much, just a little improvement in technique. Oh, you wouldn't understand even if I told you."

Zhu Ying snorted, "Stop trying to fool me, or I'll torture you." With a twist of her body, her slender hand precisely pulled open the blanket, and she came in again.

Lin Mufeng was terrified and stammered, "I'd rather die than tell."

Zhu Ying giggled, "I have a way to make you talk." Her red lips landed on his face, a light, fleeting kiss.

Lin Mufeng panicked and said, "No, Zhu Ying!"

Zhu Ying chuckled, sensing the man's unease and retreat, secretly pleased, and said, "Trying to take advantage and still not wanting it, what a fool." Her red lips pressed against his.

To protect his chastity, Lin Mufeng finally acted, instinctively pushing with both hands, pressing them directly onto her breasts.

Both of them froze, as if they had been acupunctured. Zhu Ying's eyes widened, her mouth agape. Lin Mufeng forgot to withdraw his hands, pressing them firmly against her treasure, through her thin blouse, practically nonexistent. The softness and elasticity there were incomparable. He became stupid, his brain short-circuited.

When he realized the mistake, he quickly withdrew his hands. This was like lighting a bomb, with serious consequences.

"Ah..." Zhu Ying let out a high-decibel scream. In the still of the night, it was truly earth-shattering. The screams were not only loud but also prolonged, filled with the anger and injustice of a young girl who had been violated and harmed.

Lin Mufeng was terrified. When he realized what he had done, he hurriedly begged for mercy, "Little ancestor, please stop screaming! Do you want to kill me?"

Zhu Ying also regained her senses, stopped screaming, cursed, "You pervert!" and ran away. The door slammed shut.

Lin Mufeng lay helplessly on the bed, panting heavily, his hand outstretched in a sinful gesture, cursing himself as a scoundrel, deserving of death, worse than an animal. How could I face Qin Yun? How could I face my master?

She should have slapped me, or I should have chopped off these hands. This was so damn evil.

Zhu Ying returned to her room, unable to sleep, constantly cursing the pervert in her mind. Later, she placed her hand on her chest, smiled shyly, her pretty face burning.

No one knew what she was thinking.

(4) Between Life and Death

The next morning, Lin Mufei returned from martial arts practice, unsure how to face Zhuying.

She was cooking in the kitchen, chopping vegetables with a clattering sound while humming a little tune, her expression cheerful and lively.

Lin Mufei felt relieved and walked over, saying, "Zhuying, I'm sorry about last night, hit me if you want."

Zhuying threw the vegetables into the pot, stirred them with a spoon, and glared at him with a charming, sweet, and coquettish look, saying, "Nothing happened last night, I only remember you promising my dad you would take care of me and be good to me for the rest of your life."

Lin Mufei was overjoyed and nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yes, yes, you are my own sister, just like my sister Zijun. If I'm not good to you, who else would I be good to?"

Zhuying glared at him fiercely and snorted, "Sister again? My own sister? Who cares? Can a sister stay with you for life? Can a sister be with you every day? Can a sister sleep with you every night?"

Lin Mufei was speechless.

Seeing this, Zhu Ying's mood improved again, and she continued singing: "Of ten men, seven are fools, eight are dull, nine are bad, and there's one everyone loves. Sisters, jump out and use sweet words to trick him into coming. Love him well."

She even added a movement, one leg still, the other on tiptoe, knee bent, bouncing rhythmically. She sang so playfully and humorously.

Lin Mufeng stood slightly behind her, watching the rhythm of her legs, and only then did he notice her body.

She was wearing dark blue jeans, which made her legs look round and long, and her buttocks were round like watermelons, though not quite as large, they were still quite impressive. Occasionally, she would sway a few times with the movement of her legs, adding to her allure.

Lin Mufeng's gaze fell on her buttocks, recalling the doggy style with Qian Qinyun. The details and sensations of that time, every time he thought of them, made him feel lightheaded, as if he were detached from the mortal world.

After finishing her work, Zhu Ying saw Lin Mufeng's aggressive gaze, and then saw his bulging crotch, and couldn't help but blush. She assumed it was her seduction that caused the situation, unaware that he was thinking of Qin Yun.

Most girls would have run away in fright, but she didn't. Instead, she stood before him, looked him straight in the eye, and teased, "Mu Fei, so this is the kind of person you are. Now I know you men are all the same." She glanced at his bag, then turned back to heat up her food.

Lin Mufeng suddenly snapped out of his reverie, self-deprecatingly saying, "I don't know why, but I got so engrossed in car technology that I almost became an idiot."

Zhu Ying chuckled, saying, "An idiot, perhaps? You're almost a pervert, aren't you?"

Lin Mufeng immediately declared, "She's the only one in my heart; I won't become a pervert."

Zhu Ying felt a pang of sadness, asking, "Then who's prettier, me or her? Who's more charming?"

Lin Mufeng looked at her, pondered for a moment, and said, "You're both beautiful and charming, but you're different types. She's petite and delicate, while you're tall and elegant. She's my wife, and you're my sister."

Zhu Ying's expression shifted between light and shadow. Hearing the word "sister," she suddenly rushed to his side, saying, "Sister again! Fine, I'm sticking with you for life. Whatever your wife and you can do, I can do too. Just wait and enjoy your good fortune!" With that, she went to get her rice, as if she were the victor.

When it was time to eat, the three of them sat together again. Zheng Li chatted animatedly with the two, talking about the future, the factory, and Zhu Ying's studies, reminding her not to waste her summer vacation, to do more serious work, and not to spend all her time traveling with classmates. He also reminded her to take her medicine, as her illness wasn't cured yet.

Zhu Ying agreed to everything, occasionally glancing at Lin Mufei with a gentle expression, while under the table she had already stomped on Lin Mufei several times, making him wince in pain, but he couldn't retaliate and had to force a smile. He thought to himself, "This crazy girl, whoever marries her will suffer."

At work, Zheng Li and Lin Mufei changed into their work clothes and left home one after the other. Zhu Ying saw them to the door, winking at Lin Mufei, displaying her girlish charm. He deliberately ignored her.

On the way, Zheng Li asked, "Mu Fei, was it difficult about taking care of Zhu Ying, the thing I told you about last night?"

Lin Mu Fei raised his head and said, "Master, Zhu Ying is like my own sister, Zi Jun. I'm very willing to take care of her. But you shouldn't have said those unlucky things."

Zheng Li looked at the rising red sun, the sunlight casting a yellow hue on his thin face, and said, "I guess people get older and think more. You have to work hard, and I'll do my best to help you so you can have a bright future. Don't worry about money. Our glory days are coming. What won't we have then? We'll have everything we want."

Zheng Li closed his eyes, as if he were living in that wonderful life.

Upon arriving at the factory, before production began, they had to gather for roll call. Facing dozens of people, Zheng Li adopted the demeanor of a workshop foreman, standing upright, serious, his gaze icy. He delegated the task of nodding to Qin Fengqian.

Qin Feng was an engineer and acting deputy director at the factory. A tall, thin young man nearing thirty, he was handsome and refined, wearing white glasses, and bore a resemblance to the singer Lin Zhixuan. Like Lin Mufeng, he was very popular with the women in the factory, who considered him their dream lover. However, unlike Lin Mufeng, the male employees also had their own crushes.

Qin Feng and Lin Mufeng were physically very different. Both were nearly 1.8 meters tall, but Lin was a more rugged man—thick eyebrows, large eyes, a hooked nose, a wide mouth, a bronze face, and a strong, muscular physique, exuding the masculine vigor of a northern man.

When they stood together, one resembled a refined scholar from southern China, while the other looked like a burly man from the north.

Qin Feng was clearly out of sorts today, his face etched with worry, his mind preoccupied, and his eyes listless. Before roll call, Lin Mufei asked him what was wrong, and he forced a smile, saying he was fine.

During roll call, he mispronounced Li Xiang as Li Xiang, Sun Erhu as Sun Erji, and Li Yao as Li Koujiao.

The first two names caused everyone to burst into laughter. Zheng Li glanced at everyone, and they quickly shut up, trying to appear serious. But as soon as the words "Li Koujiao" were uttered, everyone roared with laughter, and several female employees blushed, covering their mouths to stifle their laughter. Sun Erhu whistled, his freckled face contorted with lewdness, his goldfish eyes darting to the chest of a female employee, Xiao Jiang, on his left, drooling.

Lin Mufei was to his left, two people away. Lin Mufei happened to see his reaction. He gave Sun Erhu a disdainful look, shifting his body forward to block his lewd gaze. This made Sun Erhu very unhappy. He both hated and feared Lin Mufei, but dared not do anything to the team leader, losing several encounters in a row. Sun Erhu thought more than once that if he had the chance, he would definitely take revenge.

Zheng Li said, "Qin Feng, let me read it."

Qin Feng nodded and said, "Master, I'm sorry. I worked overtime until dawn last night, which affected my health; my eyesight is a little blurry."

Zheng Li said, "Go and rest for a bit," and took the roll call list.

Qin Feng walked towards the break room, his face flushed, muttering to himself, but no one heard what he said.

Meanwhile, Zheng Li, representing the factory, reiterated the importance of this selection process. He said that if selected, one could go abroad for further studies, and upon returning, they wouldn't go back to the factory; they could very well join Jitong Group as elite engineers, with a bright future.

The beautiful description certainly tempted the workers, but in the end, everyone knew in their hearts that such a good thing was unlikely to fall into the hands of ordinary workers. The current top candidates are either Qin Feng, a college graduate and acting deputy director with the best abilities, or a few with connections, such as Zheng Li's own apprentice Lin Mufei, and Sun Erhu, a relative of the factory manager.

After Zheng Li finished speaking, he began assigning tasks for the morning. After each task was assigned, some people left. Finally, it was Lin Mufei's group and several new workers' turn.

Lin Mufei led his group to several broken-down vehicles. When assigning tasks, he assigned a newcomer to Sun Erhu, asking him to teach the most basic operating knowledge.

He was thinking about Qin Feng. This was his good buddy, someone he grew up with, and also his future brother-in-law, Qin Yun's older brother. It was Qin Feng who recommended him for his training at the assembly plant. They were inseparable. They shared everything. Qin Feng's outburst today must have a reason. Otherwise, with his abilities, how could he make such a basic mistake?

When he entered the lounge, Qin Feng was sitting on a long bench, smoking, his legs crossed, wisps of smoke rising and dissipating. Behind the smoke, Qin Feng squinted, his expression shifting between laughter, sadness, and sighs. One could only guess that he had a story to tell.

The lounge was shared, several dozen square meters in size, with three walls lined with dark green metal cabinets. A faint smell of oil permeated the air, the type of which was unclear.

Lin Mufeng sat down next to him, and Qin Feng offered him a cigarette. Lin Mufeng put it in his mouth, then touched Qin Feng's cigarette to the butt, and lit it. They both smoked together, producing more tobacco and a stronger aroma. After

a few puffs, Lin Mufeng looked at Qin Feng and asked, "What's wrong, old buddy? Did someone boil you?"

Qin Feng smiled bitterly, threw away his cigarette butt, lit another, took a deep drag, and exhaled several smoke rings, each one seemingly alive, moving and floating.

He stared at the smoke rings and said, "Before, I thought I was superior, I thought I was something special. Now I realize that in other people's eyes, I'm nothing. It's such a damn failure. Last night, in the middle of the night, I climbed to the roof of the dormitory building alone. Looking at the starry sky and the dazzling lights on the ground, I thought about losing my loved ones. I moved forward, then forward again, until a third of my shoe was hanging in the air. Just a little more forward, and I would be free. But then I suddenly thought of Dad, my sister, and you, and I came back. I can't let you be sad."

Lin Mufei was terrified. She grabbed his hand and said, "Qin Feng, whatever it is, we can discuss it together. You can't do anything stupid. There are plenty of women out there. If this one doesn't work out, we can find another. Don't hang yourself on one tree." This usually cheerful Qin Feng was actually contemplating suicide. It was unbelievable.

Qin Feng smiled at Lin Mufei, patted the back of his hand, and said nonchalantly, "It's all over now. I won't be foolish again. Life is only once, why shouldn't I cherish it? As long as I'm alive, there's hope."

Lin Mufei breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That's good, that's good."

Qin Feng threw away his cigarette butt and said, "Let's go out for a drink tonight." Lin Mufei nodded.

At this moment, the repairman Xiao Li ran in, panting, and said, "Boss, hurry up, something happened in the workshop." Lin Mufei stood up abruptly.

(5) Fight in the workshop

"What happened, Xiao Li?"

Xiao Li pointed to the door and said urgently, "They've started fighting."

"Who's fighting with whom?"

Xiao Li said breathlessly, "Sun Erhu bullied the newcomers, and they started fighting."

Lin Mufei didn't ask any more questions and ran away. As soon as he came out of the rest room, he saw several people fighting in the middle of two rows of hospital cars.

Sun Erhu was quite skilled. Three people surrounded him, but he punched and kicked them, and knocked down two of them in a few rounds. The remaining bruised and battered man didn't retreat, continuing his charge with unwavering determination.

The other repairmen watched from the sidelines, none daring to interfere. Everyone knew Sun Erhu was known as the "Workshop Tyrant"—who dared to mess with him? He was skilled in martial arts; how could an ordinary person possibly defeat him? Besides, he was a direct relative of the factory manager.

Lin Mufei shouted, "Stop it, all of you!"

The newcomer stopped, only to be kicked to the ground by Sun Erhu, who then mounted him again, raising his fist to strike again.

Enraged, Lin Mufei rushed forward, pointing at Sun Erhu and yelling, "Did you hear me? Stop!"

Sun Erhu, furious, his bulbous nose red as a light bulb, remained mounted, shouting, "This little bastard insulted me!"

The newcomer beneath him retorted, "You're the bastard!"

Sun Erhu punched him in the shoulder.

Lin Mufeng, unable to contain his anger, reached out and grabbed Sun Erhu's wrist. His fingers tightened, then loosened, and Sun Erhu felt a surge of force, falling backward.

Reacting quickly, he twisted his neck, flipped over, and landed firmly on his feet. His eyes blazed with fury, and he charged forward like a mad dog, howling.

Lin Mufeng sneered, "You dare fight me?" He sidestepped and slapped Sun Erhu from behind, sending him stumbling forward and landing face-first on the ground.

Enraged, Sun Erhu scrambled to his feet, yelling, "I refuse to believe I can't beat you!" He grabbed a large plank, over half a meter long, from a nearby cart rack and lunged again.

Lin Mufeng cursed, "You ignorant fool!"

Before Sun Erhu could reach him and raise the plank to smash it down, Lin Mufeng struck with lightning speed, grabbing his wrist and pulling hard. Sun Erhu cried out in pain, dropping the plank. With a slight flick of his wrist, Sun Erhu was sent flying again. This time, he fell hard to the ground, grimacing and unable to get up for a long time.

The onlookers cheered, and Xiao Jiang, a female employee from the office, came out to applaud, looking at Lin Mufei with admiration.

Lin Mufei told everyone to return to their posts and do what they were doing, not to gather there. He then asked what had happened.

The newcomer, whose eyes were swollen from being beaten by Sun Erhu, glared at Sun Erhu on the ground, saying, "Sun Erhu is bullying me."

Sun Erhu finally got up and said, "I taught you the skills, I taught you how to do the work, was I wrong? Do you know who I am? I'm the workshop bully, dare mess with me, I'll make you 'roll over like a potato'!" Lin Mufei didn't even look at Sun Erhu, but pointed at the newcomer Xiao Zhang and said, "Tell me what happened."

Xiao Zhang looked at the car next to him and said, "Sun Erhu taught me to use a jack to support the front wheel, so I did. After repairing the car, when I tried to remove the jack, I couldn't get it off. I asked Sun Erhu what happened, and he called me a stupid pig, saying I hadn't even loosened the set screws before. I got angry and..." He started arguing. He made the first move.

Sun Erhu stepped forward, his eyes practically popping out of their sockets, and shouted, "If you hadn't called me Wu Dalang, would I have hit you?"

Xiao Zhang retorted, "You didn't teach me properly, and you even tricked me. Is it wrong to insult you?"

Sun Erhu chuckled coldly and said, "Who told you not to tighten the top screw?"

Xiao Zhang argued, "I'm new here. How would I know how to use the jack? You didn't tell me about the top screw either."

Sun Erhu laughed, "Are you a pig-brain? Can't you think for yourself?" Xiao

Zhang retorted, "You're the pig-brain!"

The two stared at each other, the air thick with tension. The two companions limped over, huddled together, ready to fight Sun Erhu again at any moment.

Sun Erhu bared his teeth and said, "Come one by one if you dare. I'll beat you until you're crawling on the ground looking for your teeth." His hoarse voice was particularly grating.

The three men, unconvinced, shouted, "Who's afraid of who? Let's find a place

and fight again." Lin Mufeng was about to speak when Qin Feng came over from the break room and said, "Are you all crazy? What kind of place is this? This is a workshop, a place for production, not a fighting ring. If you want to fight, go outside. I don't care who's to blame today, that's it. Go get back to work. Sun Erhu, you finish the work you didn't complete earlier."

The three men left. Sun Erhu stood still, ignoring everything.

Qin Feng, his face as cold as ice, said, "I'm the deputy director of the workshop. What, does my word not carry weight? Fine, I'll go find your uncle right now and report your good deed today, see what he says." Hearing this, Sun Erhu became obedient, picked up the board, and went to work. He wasn't afraid of anyone, except this uncle.

Before leaving, he turned back and glared at Lin Mufeng.

If it weren't for his uncle being the factory manager and forcing him into this job, Lin Mufeng would have kicked him out of the repair shop long ago. Who would want to take in this troublemaker? He's a ticking time bomb; you never know when he'll explode, and everyone else will suffer the consequences.

Seeing this devil get to work, Lin Mufei was greatly impressed and said, "Dude, you're really clever. You shut him up with just a few words."

Qin Feng watched Sun Erhu crawl under the car, struggling to weigh down the weight, and smiled, saying, "With this kind of person, try to talk rather than fight. You have a bright future ahead of you, while he's just a worthless man. It's not worth lowering your standards to him."

Lin Mufei sighed, "This troublemaker, I don't know what to do with him. It would be better if he took a long leave of absence instead of working, then I could worry less."

Qin Feng shook his head and said, "It's difficult. Our factory is so big, with so many workshops, nobody wants him. Our master and the factory manager are on good terms, and the factory manager asked our master to keep him. Our master can't refuse, can he? We also have to consider the factory manager's feelings, right? Okay, let's not talk about this bastard anymore. I'll call you tonight."

"Then I won't be polite. It would be great if we could call Qin Yun over."

“This remote, godforsaken place is too far from her. Even if we could come, it wouldn’t be easy to go back.”

Lin Mufei nodded, “That’s true.” Thinking of Qin Yun’s pretty face, voice, features, and body, he felt a pang of longing, yet also boundless intoxication.

He knew his master’s mind was entirely on the accelerator, so he tried not to disturb him. He wasn’t told about the fight in the workshop.

At noon, the three of them ate lunch. His master took a nap. Lin Mufei lay on the bed, wanting to sleep too, when Zhu Ying followed, unceremoniously lying down and squeezing into his arms. Lin Mufei reacted as if he’d encountered a venomous snake, shrinking back half a meter, his face ashen, saying, “Zhu Ying, you can’t.”

Zhu Ying snorted and sat up, pouting, saying, “Mufei, you’re so boring. What are you so afraid of?”

Lin Mufei turned his back to her, not daring to look at her. She put on those darn shorts again, her two long, white legs stunningly beautiful, radiating the endless charm of a young girl. Men who saw them wanted to reach out and carry them on their shoulders, letting them sway and tremble under their own power.

Seeing his silence, Zhu Ying said, "Mu Fei, say something! My dad knows how much I like you, he won't care. Hey, we're both disciples, do you know why he likes you so much and not Qin Feng?"

"Why?" He still didn't dare turn around.

Zhu Ying smiled, a sly look on her face, and said, "Answer me, and I'll tell you."

Lin Mu Fei thought for a moment and said, "I wouldn't have any feelings for my sister."

Zhu Ying felt a pang of bitterness in her heart.

All along, because of her serious illness, she had suffered from a deep sense of inferiority, feeling unable to hold her head high in front of others. If it weren't for her father providing the prescription, she would have lost the will to live. Because of Lin Mu Fei, she rekindled her confidence in life. She could go to school again, and dress up beautifully like other pretty girls. Although young, she was confident in her understanding of love. From the day she met Lin Mufeng, she had fallen for him. But what right did she have to love him?

Now, her condition was stable; it should be alright. Knowing he had a girlfriend, she was unwilling to give up. She was determined that as long as he loved her, she would never give up. One day, they would be together. But his repeated rejections were too painful. "What kind of 'little sister' is this? I don't want to be one,"

she sighed. "Why is my life so bitter? I'd rather die sooner." She wiped away her tears and ran quickly out of his room.

Lin Mufeng felt a pang of guilt, but there was nothing he could do. Love couldn't be forced.
