Orucis Travels

    page views:1  Publication date:2023-06-11 14:13:13
King, nobleman, or commoner; soldier, traveler, or simply a
mother needing to lull her child to sleep—if you wish to learn about the stories of that land, you can read this book. This is a
publicly available publication, compiled by the renowned traveler Marani, who spent over twenty years living, working,
and exploring that land, recording all his observations and thoughts. Please note that this
is only a general overview; for specific details about the lives of each kingdom and race in that land,
please refer to the appendices at the end.

The "Orucis" we know is the land of "dreamland" in ancient times. To us
outsiders, this secluded land is filled with countless mysteries and unknowns. Legend has it that it possesses immeasurable
wealth, blooms with flowers everywhere, and its people are filled with laughter and joy—a harmonious and beautiful paradise.
However, a continuous ring of mountains isolates Orus from the outside world. These towering
, steep mountains are impassable, resembling a giant serpent coiled around the center of the continent, hence the name "The Serpent's
Back." For a long time, the inhabitants of Orus could only traverse the Serpent's Back in a few ways.
The most common method was to cross the mountain pass north of the Western Alliance, a vast sandstorm zone where
intense sandstorms were constant, making it impossible for travelers to pass. This was known as the "Dust Wall." However,
every few years, the sandstorms within the Dust Wall would subside for a period. These few months were
precious times for Orus to connect with the outside world. Whenever the Dust Wall opened, large caravans
would quickly pass through to conduct trade, and adventurers would enter from the outside or explore the outside world from within.

I was the first to arrive on this magical land with a caravan from the sea of sand. Located at the westernmost edge of Orusis
lies the Alliance of Nations, comprised of dozens of kingdoms of varying sizes, forming
a military alliance. My initial target was the alliance's leader, Clarent. Leading my caravan through the heart of the Western
Alliance , I arrived at a vast and fertile land. Under the sun,
the city of Clarent shimmered with a golden hue. As the most powerful axis nation and the overlord of the entire Western Alliance, the holy city of Hirenld
was vibrant and energetic. The city was impeccably clean, and the streets were filled with people of all walks of life.
Judging from their smiles, the city was very safe, and the goods were plentiful, leading me
to conclude that it was a wealthy nation. In fact, after more than a week, I confirmed my initial
assessment . Handicrafts and artworks fetched reasonable prices, while food was inexpensive,
indicating a stable and prosperous country where residents had ample time for leisure activities.
Overall, the residents here are quite self-disciplined, which may be related to their belief in the God of Justice. As the most mainstream faith in
the entire Western Alliance, its influence extends to all levels, and the consequences of crime here
are often unforgivable. Even theft, while not necessarily subject to severe punishment, will
severely damage one's reputation in the city, often resulting in social ostracization and becoming a vagrant. Therefore, merchants'
stalls are often unguarded, and residents' doors are often left unlocked, which makes me admire the local security.

I also visited the White Sword Temple Knights: in principle, the White Sword Knights are a religious knightly order,
not under the jurisdiction of Clarent, but their headquarters are located in Clarent. As a religious knightly order, the White Sword Knights
are slightly inferior to the local Holy Light Knights in military skills, but their fanatical fighting spirit is something that cannot be ignored.
However, overall, the White Sword Temple Knights, as a military organization, are relatively mild and disciplined
.

Afterwards, we set off eastward to another great country, Falamia. I believe this is
the country with the deepest religious influence. Besides the mainstream worship of the god of justice, we could see many
temples dedicated to other deities, such as the Mother Goddess of the Earth, the Goddess of Love and Beauty, and the God of War. In fact,
Falamia has a huge pantheon that enshrines almost all the mainstream deities of this land. Indeed,
it also has the most religious festivals. For example, one day my caravan and I had just attended
a sermon by a priest of the god of justice in the morning, and in the afternoon we were invited to participate in the wheat harvest festival outside the city, presided over by a priest of the Mother Goddess of the Earth.
The next day, we had to rush to visit the temple of the god of war. If you were a woman, there was also a blessing ceremony by the goddess of life in the evening
. Here, people could freely worship the gods they desired; the religious inclusiveness exceeded my
expectations.

Continuing eastward, we arrived at Lusphilia, a country that dominated naval power. This maritime power
is not an Axis power; in fact, they often operate outside the alliances of other nations, and their people tend to focus
their attention on the sea. But believe me, when you see their magnificent fleets, your
respect for this country will rise. Walking along the harbor, you see ships from all nations coming and going, and enormous warships
with imposing figureheads, neatly lined up, proclaiming their
maritime dominance to all. Here, my entire caravan enjoyed a sumptuous seafood feast, with many kinds
of seafood whose names I cannot recall.

Brest is a major power to its north, and further north lies the Kingdom of Harlan, the
military core of the Western Alliance, commanding powerful knightly orders and retinues. Although I wanted to describe them
together, the cultures of the two countries are actually quite different. The knights of Brest are traditional feudal knights,
more romantic and elegant. Here, you can see tournaments of all sizes being held everywhere.
Free knights and hired knights gather from all over, whether to gain fame or to seek
romantic love. Perhaps only they themselves know. Here, knights are always
associated with all sorts of adventures and love stories. Many bards often come here to gather material, embellishing their work to create
many popular melodies. This is the birthplace of romantic chivalry. The Kingdom of Harlan, on the other hand, resembles
a rigorous military group. Their knights are professional soldiers, and their discipline is perhaps
the most meticulous among the Western Alliance.

As a unique member state and core nation among the Western powers, the Kingdom originated from the Harlan Knights in the early alliance of nations
. Due to their outstanding achievements, the knights were eventually granted land, gradually forming the present-day Harlan.
The Kingdom of Harlan. The Kingdom of Harlan possesses independent sovereignty, its status even comparable to that of an Axis power within the Western Alliance.
Its supreme commander is the Grand Master—each Grand Master elected publicly, not hereditary. The Kingdom of Harlan boasts
the most militarized armed organization among all nations—the Knights of Harlan, whose strength even surpasses that of the Royal Knights of Brest
.

Afterwards, my caravan and I continued northwest, arriving at the fourth Axis nation, Ramosbia.
Ramosbia is a relatively low-profile country within the Axis Alliance, though it possesses a large population. As
one of the younger nations, Ramosbia's cultural influence is not as significant as other Axis powers, so
they prefer to station their troops in the distant Green River region. The White Knights are
one of Ramosbia's most famous knightly orders; both their knights and soldiers wear white armor, making them a
renowned order.

Speaking of the White Knights, one must mention the most symbolic paladins of the Western Alliance. In the Western Alliance,
paladinism is a symbol of the highest honor, not a status. For example, I met a knight in the garden;
he was a man with the title of paladin and a member of the Ramos White Knights, but the
Grand Master of the White Knights himself was not a paladin. This is easy to understand. The title of paladin represents the highest recognition of
chivalry , requiring not only martial skill but also
the approval of the entire Alliance for recognition. However, since the title of paladin carries no real power or
benefits, not every excellent knight becomes a paladin. Many
excellent knights, loyal to their kingdom or indifferent to fame and fortune, do not hold the title.

However, through my conversation with that paladin, I must admit that paladins possess
virtues and a spirit superior to ordinary knights; to use a metaphor, they are often
idols . It is said that there are fewer than a hundred paladins in the entire Alliance, demonstrating the strictness of the requirements.
Those who can be called paladins are often those who, as wandering knights, performed acts of charity and justice, or demonstrated outstanding performance on the battlefield.
Of course, if the subject is a female knight, and also a beautiful one, she can often obtain the title of paladin through beauty—
a uniquely female path. Oh, a strikingly beautiful lady, an
agent of good deeds, and a noble beauty—what could be more captivating and desirable to society, from nobles
to commoners, than a beautiful paladin? Even so, due to the selection criteria for paladins,
the character of female paladins is usually considered commendable; I haven't heard any
questions about their conduct. These noble knights are indeed exemplars of chivalry within the alliance of nations.

Then my caravan and I turned eastward, entering the territory of Omoron, the last core nation.
Omoron, like Ramosbia, is a relatively young country, a kingdom with a strong commercial atmosphere.
It boasts the largest trade markets and underground black markets, and various merchant guilds and trade associations. In fact, I
stayed here for a long time; as a traveler and merchant, nothing is more
appealing than the exotic goods from various countries. Omoron is a relatively unsafe country, but given its massive merchant guild
system , this is to be expected. The inhabitants of Omoron are pragmatic,
prioritizing their own practical interests over religion, law, romance, and virtue.

Next, I want to talk about Asarea. Oh, if you have the chance to visit Orussis, I hope you
will definitely visit Asarea. Undoubtedly, this country is the most beautiful in the Alliance of Nations. Much of its land
is composed of forests and mountains, and compared to worldly splendor, Asarea is more like a fairyland. Clear
lakes, mountains shrouded in mist, unicorns passing through tranquil sacred forests, and
white winged horses soaring through the air—standing by the famous Swan Lake, I felt as if I had stepped into a book
. Asarea boasts the most beautiful women in the Alliance of Nations; its unique natural environment imbues the local women
with an ethereal beauty unseen in the mortal world. In fact, women have always been a treasure
of , and anyone from other nations who marries a beautiful woman from Acelea is often
the envy of many.

However, aside from its natural beauty, Acelea is essentially a weak nation. Although Acelea
can be traced back to the earliest days of the Alliance of Nations, it was once a powerful kingdom in the region, like Brest and
Faramia . But as time progressed, Acelea's surrounding territories were eroded and
fragmented into smaller states, eventually becoming the weak nation it is today. Indeed, walking the streets of
Acelea , one often hears bards recounting the glory of ancient Acelea on their harps. While the veracity of
these tales is unverifiable, it proves that the inhabitants still yearn for the powerful
Acelea ; what they lack is perhaps a strong ruler.

Acelea is the best breeding ground for Pegasus horses in the Alliance of Nations and the nation that has produced the most Pegasus riders. Speaking of
Pegasus Knights, these aerial knights, exclusively female, are the treasures of the entire Allied Nations. At my time,
the Allied Nations had only twenty-four Pegasus Knights. The requirements to become a Pegasus Knight were extremely high. Pegasus itself is
a highly spiritual creature, and only beautiful maidens can gain its approval. But gaining approval and becoming
a Pegasus Knight is another matter entirely. After all, a village girl riding a Pegasus is completely
different from a Pegasus Knight riding a Pegasus into battle. A woman might be outstanding enough to attract a Pegasus to carry her for a while, but to make a Pegasus
willing to go to the bloody battlefield requires even greater charm. Thus, Pegasus Knights are often
associated with beauty, nobility, bravery, and purity; it can be said that every Pegasus Knight is the object of men's affections.
Fortunately , marriage does not affect the ability to continue riding a Pegasus. These creatures do not seem
to have the same unusual obsession with purity as unicorns. Regardless, every Pegasus Knight's identity is
registered . Most of them hold other titles, such as the daughter of a nobleman, a member of a knightly order
, etc. For a family or knightly order to have someone become a Pegasus Knight usually signifies immense
honor . However, compared to the various accolades in the secular world, the performance of Pegasus Knights on the battlefield is relatively limited. First,
whether you can even recruit such a noble lady to fight for you is a question mark, as Pegasus horses themselves are afraid of bows.
Arrows and crossbows are weapons knights cannot carry, and the pegasus itself has a relatively low carrying capacity, limiting its ability to carry many
throwing spears. In fact, the greatest role of pegasus riders on the battlefield is reconnaissance, which
is already an important task in itself. Besides reconnaissance, what could inspire warriors' courage and morale more than a beautiful woman
descending ?

My caravan and I have lived throughout the western kingdoms for many years. In addition to these important countries, our
journeys have reached the northernmost point of Brutara, a kingdom where most of the land is covered in ice. It is worth
noting , that the northern part of the Alliance of Kingdoms is dominated by dwarf mountains, while the northeast is a valley, a gathering place for demi-humans.
In fact, the Alliance of Kingdoms has relatively good relations with other races such as elves, dwarves, halflings, and centaurs
. For example, dwarf merchants and artisans can be found in Brutara, while Acelia is often
a country favored by the elves. Overall, however, the demi-human races are rather cautious about the Western Alliance
. They are willing to communicate and trade with the alliance, and even live and reside in human cities, but
they won't go too deep, much less get involved in any human wars.

During my time, the Western Alliance and the Eastern Empire fought several wars, but
none were large-scale, and both sides experienced victories and defeats. This intermittent tug-of-war has become
part .

Okay, let me return to the Western Alliance to summarize. Overall, the Western Alliance is a stable and
livable country. Its level of security and prosperity varies from country to country, but generally, the residents' quality
of life and spiritual needs are at a relatively healthy level. Here, you can find
spiritual fulfillment in religion, experience a romantic and adventurous life, and have a great demand for art and culture.
The local customs are relatively tolerant, and you can always find adventurers from different countries in the taverns. As a merchant, I might
choose to live in Clarent or Omoron. If I grow old, I think I'll build a cabin
somewhere , overlooking a tranquil lake and the occasional bird in flight, as my final resting place.
But for now, I choose to continue eastward to another major human power, the Empire of Falt. I want
to see how the people there live.
