My sister-in-law was soaked.

    page views:1  Publication date:2023-03-24
Zhang Xiaofan pushed open the door wearily. The room was pitch black.
He lost his father at the age of five, and his mother died when he was in junior high school. His uncle seized his family's house and arranged for him to become a live-in son-in-law.
For three years, he had been working late every day, only to be met with his father-in-law's disdain and his mother-in-law's contempt.
He turned on the light, and his mother-in-law Chen Qiufeng's sharp and sarcastic voice suddenly came from inside the room: "Doesn't electricity cost money? How much do you earn a month?"
Zhang Xiaofan used his phone for light. On the table was a plate with leftover scraps: half of it was leftover wormwood, a little bit of minced meat, and three pieces of shriveled braised eggplant.
Zhang Xiaofan turned to go into the kitchen to heat it up, but Chen Qiufeng's voice came again: "With your salary, why bother with gas? Just eat whatever you have."
Zhang Xiaofan didn't say anything. Luckily, the rice in the rice cooker was still warm. He mixed the rice and vegetables together and
ate it spoonful by spoonful by the light of the city lights outside the window.
After finishing his meal and washing the dishes, Zhang Xiaofan went to his room.
There was a bed, but he lay down on a small mat in the corner – that was his bed.
Three years into his marriage, his wife's bed felt as high as the clouds in the sky; he couldn't reach it. They were husband and wife in name only.
Not long after lying down, Zhang Xiaofan, his eyelids feeling as heavy as metal plates, suddenly heard the sound of a key turning in the door. He forced his eyes open, immediately rolled over, and quickly filled a basin with hot water from the bathroom.
Qin Shuyao, dressed impeccably, entered the bedroom, threw herself onto the bed, facing the ceiling, her feet dangling in the air.
Zhang Xiaofan glanced furtively at Qin Shuyao's alluring figure. She wore a simple women's suit, and even lying on her back, her curves were clearly defined.
However, Zhang Xiaofan didn't dare look too long. He placed the hot water at her feet and gently placed her slender, jade-like feet into the water, carefully washing them.
From the moment he married into her family, his only contact with her was washing her feet—a routine that lasted for three years.
Yet Qin Shuyao never once glanced at Zhang Xiaofan, as if he were invisible.
Carefully drying her delicate little feet with a clean white cloth, Zhang Xiaofan slowly carried the water into the bathroom, quietly poured out the water, and cleaned the basin.
After doing this, Zhang Xiaofan returned to the small cushion, slowly drawing the curtains to separate their world.
Although they shared the same room, the curtains created a world apart. As
dawn broke, Zhang Xiaofan tiptoed out of the room like a thief. He brushed his teeth in the kitchen, even using the cheapest toothpaste.
When Zhang Xiaofan left, the clock on the wall read 5:10; when he returned, it was 5:45.
He went out to buy groceries almost every day at this time. If there was anything truly intimate with Zhang Xiaofan, it was this grocery basket; he carried it for at least three years, buying all the groceries for the family, rain or shine.
While washing the vegetables, a hand suddenly reached out and placed on his shoulder.
Zhang Xiaofan knew who it was without turning around; in this family, only his father-in-law, Qin Sanping, reeked of alcohol.
He wiped his hand on his clothes, took out his worn-out wallet, and opened it. Inside were five hundred-yuan bills, the rest being ten-yuan and five-yuan notes.
Zhang Xiaofan only intended to give three, but the other man took all five, then patted Zhang Xiaofan's shoulder: "Good son-in-law, good son-in-law..."
Turning around, watching Qin Sanping stagger out of the kitchen, Zhang Xiaofan couldn't help but sigh softly.
In the entire Qin family, Qin Sanping was probably the only one who acknowledged Zhang Xiaofan as a "son-in-law," though usually, the word "son-in-law" was only used when he asked for money.
As he left, Qin Shuyao, who usually ignored Zhang Xiaofan, suddenly called out, "Zhang Xiaofan."
"Huh?" Hearing Qin Shuyao's voice, Zhang Xiaofan jumped.
Before he could turn around, Qin Shuyao shook her head slightly: "Never mind, let's talk about it when you get off work."
Because of Qin Shuyao's words, Zhang Xiaofan was full of energy today. After finishing his work ahead of schedule, he rushed home and was about to take out his key to open the door when
he heard his mother-in-law's usual harsh voice from inside.
"I can't stand this piece of trash Zhang Xiaofan anymore! I made him marry into the family to give us a son, but after three years of marriage, we have nothing! I think Zhang Xiaofan is not only bad at making money, he's not even a real man!"
Qin Sanping: "That's not entirely true. Actually, he has his good points. At least he's bought the groceries all these years. His monthly salary is only 3000, and he gives you 2000 as soon as he gets paid. He's the one who runs errands and spends money on things like fixing lights and plumbing."
Chen Qiufeng: "You're a good-for-nothing too! I was blind to marry you! I will never let my precious daughter marry you again!" "I'll stay in this little house too. My daughter is so beautiful and highly educated, she could have a ton of suitors at any moment! She can have two kids, one of them can take your surname, Qin!"
Qin Sanping was silent for a moment: "You'll have to ask Yao Yao about this."
Chen Qiufeng: "I know my daughter best. If it weren't for you, how could she have let a good-for-nothing like Zhang Xiaofan into the house!? You don't know, Yao Yao's first love is back in China, and that guy is now the vice president of a listed company! He just got back and immediately asked Yao Yao out to dinner. The time is all set, tomorrow night at that newly opened upscale French restaurant."
"Really?" Qin Sanping was stunned. "No, no, Yao Yao isn't that kind of girl."
"Hmph, no matter what, Yao Yao has a better choice now. This divorce is for sure!"
Zhang Xiaofan thought that his three years of persistence had moved Qin Shuyao, that his three years of persistence had finally cleared the gloom and brought sunshine.
But unexpectedly, he was met with a bolt from the blue!
Zhang Xiaofan held the keys, stunned for a moment, then sighed deeply, lowered his head, and turned to leave.
Married for three years, Zhang Xiaofan didn't really know much about Qin Shuyao, because they rarely communicated.
Qin Shuyao was a career-oriented woman, something they had agreed upon when they got married.
Zhang Xiaofan had given Qin Shuyao three years to focus entirely on her career, and today was almost the last day of their agreement.
Tomorrow was their wedding anniversary.
Zhang Xiaofan didn't know if Qin Shuyao had called him out this morning to discuss their three-year-old agreement or to talk about divorce.
He inexplicably went to the office building where Qin Shuyao worked.
As soon as he entered the lobby, he saw a group of people gathered around a well-dressed, slicked-back man holding a large bouquet of flowers, kneeling before Qin Shuyao.
Chapter 2: Desperate
Qin Shuyao was still as Zhang Xiaofan remembered her. She wore a very elegant women's suit, had long, glossy black hair, and her features were so exquisite they seemed sculpted by a master craftsman.
She was beautiful, so beautiful that she made the women around her feel inferior.
A girl like that should, in theory, be pampered and cherished by wealthy young men.
"Yaoyao, I've come all this way to fulfill my vow from back then! I know you still have feelings for me, let's start over!"
"Say yes! Say yes!"
A large crowd cheered.
This scene made Zhang Xiaofan feel like his heart was being wrung out like a towel in someone's hand!
Except others wrung out water, but he wrung out blood!
Zhang Xiaofan didn't even have the courage to stand there for a few more seconds. He turned and left, wanting to get some fresh air; he felt like he was suffocating!
Not long after Zhang Xiaofan left, Qin Shuyao didn't react as the cheering crowd had shouted.
She looked at the man she had once relied on and loved so deeply with a complex expression.
The reason Qin Shuyao had agreed to let Zhang Xiaofan marry into Qin Sanping's family was because of Han Dechao.
After graduating from university, she thought their decade-long relationship was finally about to culminate in a happy wedding, but Han Dechao resolutely abandoned her to pursue his so-called career.
Now he had returned successful, but something seemed to be missing from Qin Shuyao's heart.
As for what exactly was missing, Qin Shuyao couldn't say. She didn't accept the flowers Han Dechao offered, simply shaking her head at him without saying a word before turning and leaving.
"Yaoyao!"
Han Dechao watched Qin Shuyao walk away gracefully, her long, slender, white legs tracing beautiful arcs in the air with a crisp click.
"Clack, clack..."
Han Dechao remained kneeling on the ground, his gaze fixed intently, his eyes filled with desire and heat.
A moment later, Han Dechao's phone rang. It was Chen Qiufeng's voice on the other end!
"Xiao Chao, did Yao Yao agree?"
"Auntie..."
"Tsk! You child, why are you calling me 'Auntie'? Just call me Mom."
"Oh, Mom. Don't worry, Yao Yao and I were together through junior high, high school, and college. I know her personality better than anyone. She's shy, so she might not agree right now, but she's definitely very happy inside."
"That good-for-nothing is outside the office building right now. Go drive your sports car over and provoke him. When he comes back, your father and I will definitely force him to sign the divorce papers. You can get married in a couple of days. Also, you'd better be prepared about the bride price."
Hearing this, Han Dechao's lips curled up slightly: "Mom, the money is nothing. Don't worry, when we get married, in addition to the 880,000 yuan bride price I mentioned before, I will also buy you a new house in an upscale neighborhood."
"Good son-in-law, good son-in-law!"
Zhang Xiaofan walked slowly down the road. A short while later, the roar of a sports car, like that of a wild beast, came from behind.
A yellow Ferrari suddenly stopped beside Zhang Xiaofan. The window rolled down, revealing the slick-haired man from before.
"Hey, you must be Zhang Xiaofan?"
Zhang Xiaofan glanced at Han Dechao
but didn't reply, continuing to walk. Although he remained silent, his steps were unsteady.
"You saw what happened just now. I've officially started pursuing Yaoyao. She accepted my flowers, and inside them was my engagement ring—a two-carat ring! With your current salary, you might not be able to afford it even if you didn't eat or drink for 20 years."
Zhang Xiaofan ignored him, standing on the sidewalk waiting for the green light.
Han Dechao, however, sped up a short distance, blocking Zhang Xiaofan's path with his expensive sports car.
The car was now completely positioned on the zebra crossing.
At this moment, a traffic policeman walked over: "How are you driving?"
"How I drive is none of your business. Give me a ticket if you want, I have plenty of money!"
Han Dechao said, then turned to Zhang Xiaofan: "Let me tell you, Yaoyao will only be happy with me! Trash like you doesn't deserve her!"
Zhang Xiaofan had already lowered her head. Han Dechao's voice grew louder: "You only make 3000 yuan a month, what can you give her!? Look at yourself from head to toe, do you have two things worth more than 100 yuan? You've been married for three years, what have you ever given her!?"
"What do you have!?"
"What makes you think you're good enough for her!?"
“If I were you, if I had even a shred of sense, I would never humiliate myself like this again. I would go back immediately and sign the divorce papers.”
Zhang Xiaofan’s hands hung limply at his sides, his fists clenched so tightly that his nails dug into the flesh of his palms!
Han Dechao saw this and gave a cold laugh, saying in a disdainful and contemptuous tone, “Hmph, trash!”
Accompanied by the beast-like roar of his sports car, Han Dechao drove off with a flourish, knowing full well that he had run a red light.
Zhang Xiaofan didn’t go back.
The house left by his parents had already been taken by his uncle. The only thing that truly belonged to him in this world was a small room in a small house of less than 20 square meters left by his grandfather.
The room was small and simple.
A spring bed, a small table, and an old wardrobe.
Zhang Xiaofan had no luggage at all, only a chipped briefcase in his hand and the cheap suit he had bought at the market.
Not long after, Zhang Xiaofan’s phone rang.
On the way back, his father-in-law and mother-in-law had called him no less than a dozen times, but Zhang Xiaofan hadn’t answered.
But now it was Qin Shuyao calling.
With slightly trembling hands, he picked up the phone, a free gift with a prepaid plan, and after composing himself for a while, finally pressed the answer button.
"Hello."
"Where are you?" Unlike usual, Qin Shuyao's voice sounded somewhat harsh.
Even when speaking to strangers, she wouldn't usually use such a tone.
Clearly, Qin Shuyao's mood was different.
Her first love was back, and her heart had stirred again—Zhang Xiaofan thought bitterly.
"I'm outside."
"I know you're outside, I'm asking you where you are?" Qin Shuyao seemed very upset; this was arguably the first time in over three years that she had spoken to Zhang Xiaofan with such a harsh tone.
Of course, it was also the only time, since normally, in Qin Shuyao's eyes, Zhang Xiaofan was just a wall, an invisible barrier.
Zhang Xiaofan remained silent.
"I'm talking to you, can't you hear me?" Qin Shuyao was somewhat irritated.
Chapter 3 Why is God doing this to me?
Zhang Xiaofan sat on the bare wire bed, which had no blankets, only a hard board. He gripped his thighs tightly with both hands, his nails digging into his flesh once more.
Only this pain could alleviate the emotions in Zhang Xiaofan's heart.
After a long silence, he finally spoke, "Let's get a divorce."
This time, however, Qin Shuyao on the other end of the phone was stunned: "What did you say?"
"I know, I'm not good enough for you."
In fact, this phone call was the longest the couple had exchanged in the past three years.
Qin Shuyao had never lost her temper with Zhang Xiaofan before, because in her eyes, everything Zhang Xiaofan had done in the past was impeccable. He was diligent and hardworking, and Qin Shuyao had seen it all.
Three years was enough time to observe a person.
But now, Zhang Xiaofan suddenly said something that made Qin Shuyao, who was always very polite and gentle in her dealings with people, instantly ignite her anger: "Zhang Xiaofan, you coward! You get out here right now!"
The louder Qin Shuyao's voice was, the heavier Zhang Xiaofan's already humble heart became.
"I know in your eyes I'm just trash, just a piece of trash, but can't you leave me even a little bit of dignity!?"
Zhang Xiaofan roared at Qin Shuyao for the first time, but in this roar, there was no anger, but more pain.
"What do you mean? Have you taken the wrong medicine?" Qin Shuyao was confused and didn't know what was wrong with the usually good-tempered Zhang Xiaofan today.
Taking a deep breath, Zhang Xiaofan tried to speak calmly, "I'll sign the divorce papers. Don't worry, I'll never appear in front of you again."
With that, he hung up.
He removed the phone battery and tossed the dead phone case aside.
At that moment, the phone, like Zhang Xiaofan himself, felt all his strength drain away as he spoke those words. He felt
like a helpless, abandoned three-year-old child, clutching his legs, head bowed, huddled in a corner.
Three years is enough time for even a piece of wood to sprout mushrooms.
Although Zhang Xiaofan's contact with Qin Shuyao was limited to that basin of foot-washing water, he hadn't stopped for three years.
For Zhang Xiaofan, being able to wash his wife's feet every day, relieving her of the day's fatigue, didn't feel shameful; instead, it brought a sweet feeling to his heart.
He knew he wasn't good enough for her, but who wouldn't want such a beautiful wife?
Zhang Xiaofan had long ago etched the name "Qin Shuyao" into his heart.
Now he knew it had all been wishful thinking on his part.
The so-called three years were just Qin Shuyao waiting for Han Dechao. He
lamented
his ignorance and stupidity! He
also sighed at his own insignificance and powerlessness!
"Thump."
He banged his forehead against the wall beside him.
"Thump."
Despite the pain, he continued. Only pain could ease the wound in his heart.
"Why?"
"Thump."
"Why is God doing this to me!"
"Thump."
As he banged, Zhang Xiaofan suddenly felt as if he had smashed something with his forehead.
Looking up, he saw a hole in the wall in front of him, and inside was what looked like an old-fashioned cookie tin.
There wasn't much inside, only two photos.
One was of Zhang Xiaofan as a child, still wearing open-crotch pants, walking his dog.
The other was a black and white photo of two young men.
They were both dressed in clothes from decades ago, laughing happily.
The two men in the photo were somewhat blurry, but upon closer inspection, their features still bore a striking resemblance—they were likely brothers.
As Zhang Xiaofan was about to close the box, he noticed a black card at the bottom. This card had a rather unique design and felt quite heavy in his hand, like a piece of iron.
Zhang Xiaofan felt the card looked familiar; he thought he had seen it in a financial magazine before, but couldn't quite remember which one.
Underneath the card was a piece of paper.
Opening it, the yellowed paper bore the name Zhang Anmin, differing from his grandfather's "Zhang Anguo" by only one character.
Below that was a row of numbers, presumably a phone number, but strangely, it only had six digits.
Below the numbers was a line of text: "Brother, call me if you're in trouble."
Zhang Xiaofan's grandfather had passed away when he was in elementary school. He often played in his grandfather's room as a child, but he had never heard of his grandfather having a younger brother, and after so many years, he didn't know if his grandfather was still alive.
Desperate, Zhang Xiaofan picked up his phone. But as he inserted the battery and prepared to press the power button, he scoffed, shook his head, and tossed the phone aside.
He didn't believe in luck, nor in blood ties or relatives.
Logically, shouldn't his maternal uncle be very close?
Yet his uncle had taken all the family fortune, making him a coward for three years, struggling to build his fortune, only to be cuckolded.
He was exhausted.
Not just physically, but emotionally too.
He leaned his head against the wall, the overwhelming fatigue slowly closing his eyes, and fell into a deep sleep…
Compared to Zhang Xiaofan, Qin Shuyao, who usually slept well, suffered from insomnia.
She tossed and turned in bed for over an hour before finally realizing it might be because she hadn't soaked her feet. So she prepared a basin of hot water and placed her delicate, fair feet in it.
However, the hot water didn't soothe Qin Shuyao at all; something felt missing.
The indoor lighting was dim and yellowish. In a daze, Qin Shuyao seemed to see a figure she had never paid much attention to before.
He was squatting in front of her, every movement gentle and delicate.
For three years, more than a thousand days, almost every day had been the same.
Only at this moment did Qin Shuyao realize that, imperceptibly, Zhang Xiaofan had become a very important part of her life.
Although her feet were soaked, Qin Shuyao still couldn't sleep in bed.
She didn't know why, but before, when she went to sleep, she would inevitably think of the youthful days she and Han Dechao had shared.
But now, what appeared in her mind was a figure she had never paid much attention to.
Qin Shuyao couldn't even conjure up a specific image of Zhang Xiaofan in her mind. It's no exaggeration to say that if Zhang Xiaofan changed his clothes or got a new haircut, Qin Shuyao might not recognize him, because she had never paid attention to what Zhang Xiaofan actually looked like.
In her mind, Zhang Xiaofan seemed to be nothing more than a figure, yet that figure was also etched into her mind, impossible to erase.
Chapter 4: People like you are just wasting air by living .
Qin Shuyao didn't know what had happened to Zhang Xiaofan, and after returning home, her parents didn't mention a word about his departure.
No matter how Qin Shuyao asked, their answers were always the same: "We can't wait for trash like Zhang Xiaofan to leave. It's best if he leaves!"
The word "divorce" had crossed Qin Shuyao's mind at least 99 times, if not 100, over the past three years, but it remained just a thought, something she never actually did.
From the moment Qin Shuyao and Zhang Xiaofan left the Civil Affairs Bureau, Qin Shuyao had severed all ties with her past relationships.
Even with Han Dechao's triumphant return, there was no possibility between them anymore. Having
clarified this, Qin Shuyao planned to take half a day off tomorrow afternoon to wait for Zhang Xiaofan outside his company. She
was determined to make him apologize properly.
Qin Shuyao even imagined Zhang Xiaofan's joyful expression upon seeing her, perhaps even jumping for joy like a child, then respectfully begging for forgiveness for his impulsive behavior the previous day.
Thinking this, her mood improved somewhat. Remembering that tomorrow was their third wedding anniversary, Qin Shuyao's lips curled into a slight smile. She drifted off to sleep, plotting how to "torture" Zhang Xiaofan…
Just as dawn broke, Zhang Xiaofan habitually opened his eyes. His first thought was to brush his teeth in the kitchen and then grab a basket to go grocery shopping.
But when he tried to stand up, he found his legs numb. He had fallen asleep alone in a corner the night before, leaving his legs without feeling. He patted them for a while before they slowly returned to normal.
He slowly stood up, supporting himself against the wall, and looked around before realizing—he didn't need to buy groceries anymore.
Zhang Xiaofan felt a slight sense of relief, but for some reason, even though he had free time, he felt uneasy.
He went downstairs almost habitually, passed the market habitually, greeted the old man sitting on the street corner habitually, walked through a small alley, and followed the slightly cracked, moss-covered path out of the alley.
As he habitually prepared to cross the road, he found an obstacle in his path.
This hadn't happened in the past three years, and the obstacle was an expensive sports car.
The car seemed to have been parked there for a long time, and elderly people were pointing and whispering around it.
"Hey, whose car is that?"
"It's been parked here since last night, probably someone's son-in-law's."
"What lucky girl married such a rich man? She can finally escape this chicken coop and become a phoenix!"
Amidst the clamor, Zhang Xiaofan saw Han Dechao come down from the nearby stairwell, wearing nothing but shorts and a t-shirt!
Amidst the surprised gazes of the passersby, Han Dechao opened the car door, got in, grabbed something, and went back upstairs.
Zhang Xiaofan didn't know why he was here! Why did he have to see this scene! Why, knowing that someone would rub salt into his wounds, did he still foolishly run over here!
Zhang Xiaofan, what are you still expecting?
They're already inside, in bed!
"Slap!"
Standing at the entrance of the familiar alley, looking at the familiar people and things before him, Zhang Xiaofan slapped himself hard across the face.
"Slap!"
He slapped himself back again.
Zhang Xiaofan roared inwardly, then hung his head and slowly entered the alley.
All of this was clearly seen by Han Dechao, who was standing in the corner of the stairwell.
He smiled contemptuously, a slight upturn at the corner of his mouth: "Hmph, trash is trash after all. Want to fight me? In your next life!"
At this moment, Qin Shuyao came downstairs and saw Han Dechao, who had dressed up. Looking at this all-too-familiar face, for some reason, for a moment, Qin Shuyao felt that this person was a stranger.
"Yaoyao, you haven't had breakfast yet, have you? I know a five-star hotel with really good breakfast. Let's go there now."
"No need, I still prefer soy milk and fried dough sticks."
Qin Shuyao said calmly, walking past him.
"Yaoyao!"
Han Dechao quickly stepped forward, reaching out to grab Qin Shuyao's hand. Just as his fingers touched her arm, Qin Shuyao immediately pulled away. She quickly took a few steps forward, turned her head, and said calmly, "Han Dechao, I'm already married. If you continue like this, I'll call the police!"
"Yaoyao, listen to me, I really want to be with you..."
Han Dechao's emotional explanation echoed in her ears, but no matter what he said or did, Qin Shuyao acted as if she hadn't heard or seen anything, boarding a bus heading towards the subway station.
Watching Qin Shuyao walk away, Han Dechao turned and kicked a tire hard, his once handsome smile turning sinister: "Zhang Xiaofan, if I don't kill you, I'm not Han Dechao!"
Zhang Xiaofan was usually a man of few words at the company, but he was also very diligent. Anything assigned to him was never a mistake.
Often, even with four or five tasks swirling around at once, Zhang Xiaofan could complete them in the shortest amount of time.
But today, Zhang Xiaofan was distracted no matter what he did. After making a small mistake, the editor-in-chief immediately called him to his office.
"Zhang Xiaofan, you've been with our magazine for almost two years, how can you not even handle something this simple? What's the point of living like you!? If I were you, I would have jumped out of this window long ago!"
Zhang Xiaofan hung his head, his hands clenched tightly together, and said in a strained voice, "Editor-in-chief, I'm sorry, I... I'll do it next time..."
"There won't be a next time!"
He took an envelope containing money from his drawer.
"Someone like you is just wasting air!"
The editor-in-chief said, casually tossing the envelope on the ground in front of Zhang Xiaofan.
"Take the money and get out of here!"
In the past two years, Zhang Xiaofan had considered all sorts of reasons for being fired, but he never expected to be kicked out for such a trivial matter.
Dazed, he went downstairs. As he was leaving, he suddenly heard someone call his name.
Turning around, he saw Han Dechao's face again, the face he loathed.
"How's it going? Feeling happy about the extra 1000 yuan? Let me tell you, that 1000 yuan is compensation from me. Thanks for taking care of my wife for the past three years, and I heard you two haven't even held hands. Tsk tsk tsk, good brother! If I ever have a mistress, I'll have to rely on you for support."
Han Dechao's words were like a dagger stabbing Zhang Xiaofan's heart.
He didn't reply, turned, and left.
Watching Zhang Xiaofan's departing figure, Han Dechao took out his phone from his bag: "The target has gone out. This final blow depends on you." A pleasant woman's voice came from the other end of the phone: "Don't worry, I know Zhang Xiaofan's personality well. I guarantee he'll take the bait."
About ten minutes after Zhang Xiaofan left, it was almost time to leave work. Han Dechao didn't leave; instead, he sat in a coffee shop across from the office building, leisurely sipping his coffee and waiting for Qin Shuyao to appear.

Qin Shuyao appeared exactly as Han Dechao had predicted. Upon seeing her, Han Dechao dialed another number.
"Brother Chen, my wife has appeared. Now it's your turn."
While Qin Shuyao was waiting for Zhang Xiaofan in the office building lobby, Zhang Xiaofan's editor-in-chief specially brought two subordinates over.
One of the women, upon seeing Qin Shuyao, deliberately feigned a look of déjà vu, walked up to her, and said, "You're Zhang Xiaofan's wife, right?"
Qin Shuyao nodded slightly, "Yes, I am."
"Don't wait here, he's already gone."
"Gone?"
"Yes, he was just fired by our editor-in-chief today."
"Why?!" Qin Shuyao's expression changed drastically. "He's always been so diligent, he's never made a mistake, why fire him?"
The middle-aged man standing nearby sneered, "There are many reasons for firing him. If you really want to know, I suggest you ask him yourself."
After saying this, the editor-in-chief quickly walked away, while another male colleague pulled the female colleague aside and whispered, "Hey, what happened? Why did the editor-in-chief fire Zhang Xiaofan?"
"Actually, to be honest, it wasn't the editor-in-chief who fired him, it's that Zhang Xiaofan hooked up with a rich woman and started acting like a diva, not wanting to work anymore..."
"No way, someone like him dating a rich woman?"
His female colleague shrugged. "Who knows? These days, rich women have all sorts of unique tastes."
Hearing this, Qin Shuyao immediately turned and hurried away.
Zhang Xiaofan walked alone on the side of the road. The successive blows made it hard for him to cheer up.
Actually, he wasn't worried about work at all; finding a job wouldn't be difficult for him.
What hurt him most was that his three years of hard work hadn't yielded a single reward.
Just thinking about Qin Shuyao nestled in Han Dechao's arms made him feel like he couldn't breathe properly. He even angrily wanted to hit his head to stop thinking about it.
As he walked, Zhang Xiaofan felt like someone was calling him.
He looked around blankly and saw a woman in a white dress waving at him in the distance.
"Zhang Xiaofan, Zhang Xiaofan!"
For the past three years, Zhang Xiaofan had been working a monotonous nine-to-five job.
Very few young women knew his name.
As he approached, he realized the person in front of him looked somewhat familiar, but he couldn't quite place her name.
"Zhang Xiaofan, what a coincidence to see you! Hurry up, help me change a tire!"
The woman in the white dress was quite pretty, with a great figure, and she seemed very familiar with Zhang Xiaofan.
But Zhang Xiaofan just couldn't recall her name.
He stood there somewhat awkwardly, and before he could react, the woman had already grabbed his arm.
"Hey, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and change the tire!"
Although somewhat confused, he complied and skillfully changed the tire.
"Wow, you change tires so fast! Back in college, I heard you and those rich guys would go mountain road racing every now and then, and I heard you were the racing god of Qiudao Mountain!"
College?
Zhang Xiaofan then realized that the girl in front of him was Li… Li Nianran, his college classmate.
However, the bonds between university classmates are different from those in high school; they don't spend much time together, so it's no wonder Zhang Xiaofan didn't recognize her at first glance.
But after three years apart, Li Nianran had become even more beautiful, and this was a Mercedes sports car—quite expensive.
After changing the tire, Li Nianran said to Zhang Xiaofan, "Hey, where are you going? I'll give you a ride."
"No need, I'll walk."
"Oh, why are you being so polite!"
With that, Li Nianran opened the car door and shoved Zhang Xiaofan inside.
Then, as Zhang Xiaofan had instructed, she dropped him off at an intersection. Just as Zhang Xiaofan was about to get out, Li Nianran suddenly reached into his pocket and took his phone.
Without waiting for Zhang Xiaofan's reaction, she scanned his WeChat with the phone she had prepared beforehand.
Then Li Nianran waved her phone and said, "Let's keep in touch."
"Someone like me shouldn't be contacted."
As Zhang Xiaofan opened the car door, Li Nianran also got out, walked around the car, hugged Zhang Xiaofan tightly, and kissed him hard on the cheek!
Zhang Xiaofan stared blankly at Li Nianran, momentarily stunned.
Li Nianran smiled sweetly at Zhang Xiaofan, waved her phone, and then turned and drove away.
Just as Zhang Xiaofan turned around, he saw Qin Shuyao.
At this moment, the two were about thirty or forty meters apart, staring at each other.
After a moment of silence, Qin Shuyao turned and walked away, not wanting Zhang Xiaofan to see her tears!
She had been fully expecting Zhang Xiaofan to be "bullied" today, but who could have imagined that she would be the one truly bullied!

Zhang Xiaofan hurried to catch up, but Han Dechao's car suddenly blocked their way. Han Dechao stood with his hand on the car window, a smug look on his face.
"Now, besides that tiny room of less than 20 square meters, you have nothing!"
Zhang Xiaofan was stunned. Han Dechao's sudden appearance brought him to his senses.
He frowned and asked, "You arranged all of this, didn't you?!"
Han Dechao hadn't expected Zhang Xiaofan to react so quickly. He grinned, "That's right, I arranged it all! Although Yaoyao didn't accept me on the surface, I know she still loves me. If I just put in a little more effort, we can get married in a few days. And you? If you don't sign the divorce papers, believe me, I'll wreck your whole place tomorrow!"
Zhang Xiaofan wasn't angry or furious as Han Dechao had expected. His calm demeanor made Han Dechao think he had mistaken him for someone else.
Zhang Xiaofan closed his eyes. (Due to space limitations, follow the WeChat official account [Yuxiao Novels] and reply with the number 165 to continue reading the exciting story!) After several deep breaths, his tightly clenched fists finally relaxed.
When Zhang Xiaofan raised his eyes, Han Dechao suddenly had a strange feeling, a dangerous sensation as if he were being stared at by some wild beast!
"Okay, I'll sign!"
Han Dechao smiled, took the divorce agreement from the passenger seat, and handed Zhang Xiaofan a pen.
Zhang Xiaofan opened Han Dechao's passenger door directly, and as he sat down, his hand was already in his pocket, pressing the record button on his phone.
