Yesterday, my best friend had another fight with her husband. My friend Ranran and Guo Wei were college classmates, and it wasn't easy for them to get married. Ranran's family is middle class; her father is a government official and her mother is a bank manager, while Guo Wei is a "phoenix man" who rose from humble beginnings in a remote mountain village.
Ranran had gone to great lengths to marry Guo Wei. From initial family opposition and having to stay in company dormitories to their current comfortable life, the journey had been incredibly arduous. But then, trouble struck. Guo Wei's relatives began coming to their door seeking help. At first, Ranran readily agreed, but the sheer volume and number of requests eventually wore off, and she lost patience.
It turned out that Guo Wei's sister wanted her to help her find an internship.
Guo Wei discussed it with her, but Ranran was furious and angrily told him to solve it himself. Then, she started bringing up old grievances. She kept nagging about how, from the beginning of their marriage, starting with the wedding rings that should have been provided by Guo Wei's family, to the purchase and renovation of the new house, Guo Wei's family had failed to help at all. And now they were still brazenly coming to their door.
