Entering the house

    page views:1  Publication date:2023-03-24
Chu Songzhu was now sitting in a black Mercedes, its streamlined exterior, excellent operating system, and elegant design… No, I wasn't here for a test drive.
Five minutes earlier, Lu Zhuo had shoved him into the car. After leaving the building, Lu Zhuo made a simple phone call: “It's me, I'll be there in ten minutes.”
The high school student beside him, who could already be called a man, was someone he'd only met a few times on the bus. He had a borrowed umbrella in his hand. What had just happened was too sudden; he still couldn't process it.
He'd paid for his meal, and he'd gotten him out of an awkward situation—the key question being, why had he done that?
On the way, Chu Songzhu was lost in thought, while Lu Zhuo focused on driving. The atmosphere was strange, yet surprisingly harmonious.
Upon arriving at their destination, Chu Songzhu found himself in front of the city's best Japanese restaurant. He'd heard that this restaurant only served members, and countless white-collar workers would fight tooth and nail to get in.
The head waiter, dressed in an elegant kimono, led them to a private room. As soon as they sat down at the table, a waiter brought out their dishes. Chu Songzhu then realized that Lu Zhuo had called to make a reservation.
He wondered if he had enough money; the restaurant looked quite expensive.
Lu Zhuo pushed a bowl of vegetable soup in front of him: "Have some soup first."
Chu Songzhu was extremely hungry, so he picked up the soup, took a big gulp, and then stuffed some tamagoyaki sushi into his mouth. Compared to Chu Songzhu's wolfing down of his food, Lu Zhuo ate very politely, very slowly, and in small portions. After
Chu Songzhu had stuffed two rice balls into his mouth, he finally felt his stomach return to normal. He took a sip of tea, embarrassed, and said shyly, "I'm sorry you had to see this."
Lu Zhuo elegantly put down his chopsticks, smiled, and said, "I understand." Then, he placed a piece of sashimi in Chu Songzhuo's bowl.
Chu Songzhu then remembered his umbrella: "I didn't bring your umbrella with me today. When is it convenient for you? I'll bring it to you."
Lu Zhuo thought for a moment and said, "I'll get it from your house later."
Chu Songzhu ate the sashimi he offered and nodded.
Halfway through the meal, Chu Songzhu realized a serious problem: he hadn't introduced himself yet.
"Although it's a bit late, I still need to introduce myself..." Chu Songzhu held out his hand, "My name is Chu Songzhu."
Lu Zhuo looked at his outstretched hand, smiled, and enveloped it, "My name is..."
Chu Songzhu quickly interrupted him: "I know."
The two smiled at each other.
Because everyone was familiar with each other, the meal was easy to eat.
When it came time to pay, Lu Zhuo stopped Chu Songzhu from insisting on paying: "This restaurant uses a points system, they don't accept cash."
Chu Songzhu was a little annoyed, "Then I'll just pay you the equivalent amount. You paid for me before, and now you've brought me to this restaurant. I'm older than you, it's not fair to always let a student pay."
"I'm 18. And—" Lu Zhuo paused, "Age has never been a problem."
Chu Songzhu didn't understand the meaning of his last sentence and still insisted on splitting the bill.
Lu Zhuo waved his hand, "Making a friend over two meals, I think it's worth it."
Chu Songzhu wanted to say something more, but Lu Zhuo had already stood up, "Let's go, to your place."

Back in that beautiful Mercedes, Chu Songzhu was still agonizing over the money. He just couldn't accept having a student pay for him.
"Shouldn't you tell me how to get home?" Lu Zhuo casually turned the steering wheel, saying, "Although I don't mind taking a drive like this."
"Ah..." Chu Songzhu reacted and gave an address.
It was a weekend afternoon, and there were fewer cars on the road. Chu Songzhu lived in what was considered the city center, but the building was very old, and even the toilets were shared. It was originally a dormitory for a state-owned enterprise, but the residents had all bought new houses and moved away, and then rented it out to migrant workers like him.
Chu Songzhu liked the building, even though his apartment was a tiny one-bedroom apartment. The building was mostly inhabited by elderly people and children, and its dilapidated exterior gave it a haunted house feel. In the two years he lived there, no thieves had bothered with such a run-down building.
Lu Zhuo climbed the broken and crumbling stairs. Even in broad daylight, the hallway needed the lights on to be visible, and the shared toilets in the hallways emitted a foul odor. In this environment, his attire seemed even more out of place in the building. He frowned slightly; even finding a parking space was difficult in this place.
"This is it." Chu Songzhu, walking ahead, opened the door. The door was labeled 406 and 407. Upon opening the door, they discovered it was actually two separate households, each with its own locked iron gate. Chu Songzhu opened the door to 407. It
was so low. Lu Zhuo lowered his head slightly; it was indeed an old house.
Compared to the hellish hallway they had just walked through, Chu Songzhu's small room was very tidy.
Entering, they saw a small living room, sparsely furnished with basic furniture, but all very clean. The afternoon sun shone on the curtains, and a gentle breeze ruffled the edges. The fabric was a blue and white checkered pattern. Lu Zhuo's lips curved into a beautiful smile; he really did like checks.
"Your umbrella." Lu Zhuo retrieved the pink umbrella from the room and handed it to him.
Lu Zhuo didn't take the umbrella, but instead smiled and asked, "Won't you offer me a seat?"
Chu Songzhuo quickly placed the umbrella on the table beside him and said, "Oh dear, I completely forgot. Please, make yourself at home. I'll get you a glass of water."
Lu Zhuo sat down on the sofa in the room. The sofa wasn't very comfortable, but the man's scent made him not mind too much.
The house wasn't very big, and with two men inside, it felt even smaller.
"Sorry, there's no water left. I'll have to boil some more. Please wait a moment."
"No problem." Ideally, it should be boiled until tomorrow.
Watching the man bustling around, Lu Zhuo simply became an observer. His not-so-slender figure, his hips covered by a long-sleeved t-shirt and encased in dark blue jeans, were both revealing and concealing, making one very want to tear open that cumbersome fabric to see its shape and color.
Lu Zhuo licked his lips, feeling a tightness in his lower body.
He decided to temporarily stop staring at that moving "dessert" and stood up, wanting to see his "boudoir."
The door wasn't closed, revealing a wooden single bed inside. The sheets were clean, and the blankets were neatly folded. The table and cabinets were also arranged in an orderly fashion. He seemed to be a very family-oriented man.
Lu Zhuo inexplicably gave him an extra point.
"I didn't expect you to come; I didn't prepare anything at home," Chu Songzhu said, turning on the water before following him into the room.
Lu Zhuo sat down on his bed. Thick curtains blocked the blazing sun outside, filling the room with an ambiguous tranquility.
"I didn't come here to eat," Lu Zhuo said, stretching out on the bed with a seductive smile.
Chu Songzhuo suddenly had a strange feeling, as if this wasn't his place, but rather the place of the person leaning against his bed. The small single bed was already full after he took it all up; after a quick glance, he grabbed a chair and sat down.
Lu Zhuo didn't speak, just kept staring at him, making Chu Songzhuo feel uneasy.
"Are you a senior in high school this year?" Chu Songzhuo felt he should start a conversation.
"Yes."
"Isn't your studies busy?"
"It's alright."
"Didn't the car get fixed? Why are you still taking the bus?"
"Work."
Work?
"Haven't seen you in a long time?"
"Business trip."
The conversation couldn't continue. Chu Songzhu glared at him resentfully.
Lu Zhuo smiled inwardly; he couldn't tease him too much. Let's leave it at that for today; there's always next time.
"I'm leaving now."
"Oh? The water hasn't even boiled yet."
I don't drink tap water. Of course, this was only what he thought.
When they reached the door, seeing the pink umbrella, Chu Songzhu quickly grabbed it and handed it to Lu Zhuo, but he only glanced at it. "Aren't you going to see me off?"
Chu Songzhu smiled awkwardly, casually closed the door, and accompanied him downstairs.
When they reached his car, Lu Zhuo got into the driver's seat, and Chu Songzhu handed him the umbrella again. He took it and casually tossed it aside.
"Goodbye."
They'll see each other again soon.
Lu Zhuo watched Chu Songzhu turn around as soon as he started the car and smiled mischievously.

Chu Songzhu didn't run into Lu Zhuo again, and he didn't have time to deal with that young master anymore.
This was the fifth place he'd tried, and it still wasn't working.
Houses in G City costing tens of thousands of yuan per square meter were common, especially in his area; even a typical single room cost around eight hundred. Finding a place at his current price was like finding a needle in a haystack.
On Monday night, he received a call from the landlord saying he was selling his room and needed him to leave by Saturday. He was taken aback by the sudden call. He assumed the landlord wanted to raise the rent and subtly inquired, but the landlord's tone on the other end of the line was disdainful. He didn't say anything more. The die was cast; he had to find a place quickly.
He searched online for ages and visited several nearby real estate agencies, but all his efforts were unsuccessful due to the prices.
Finding a place was like finding a wife; the ones you like might not like you back, and the ones you don't like are simply unattainable. He
sighed heavily. Tomorrow was Friday, and he still hadn't found a place.
"Zhuzi, still no place to live?" his colleague, Fatty, asked.
Chu Songzhu nodded.
"Don't be too picky. Places in the outskirts are easier to find and cheaper."
"I know..."
"Like where I live, I can move in right away, it's only 250, and the room next door is empty."
If all else fails, he'll have to go to Da Pang's place. He's packed most of his things
. He returned to his familiar little house at nine o'clock in the evening.
Although this place isn't great, it's been with him for two years, and he's unconsciously come to regard it as home. There are boxes of various sizes stacked on the floor. He doesn't have much stuff, just a lot of books.
He'll be leaving this little nest tomorrow, and every second he spends away from this house feels incredibly precious.
He woke up early Friday morning, and the room felt a bit unfamiliar. He took down his favorite checkered curtains, and the sun woke him up. He got up an hour earlier than usual and packed the rest of his things. He left at 7:30.
It was another busy day. He called Da Pang's landlord, and after work, he took a taxi to pick up his luggage.
On the bus, Chu Songzhu thought about making something to eat when she got back before heading to Da Pang's.
When she arrived at the high school stop, watching the bustling students, she suddenly thought of Lu Zhuo. She realized she probably wouldn't see him again. She'd forgotten to ask for his phone number; she couldn't repay the favor.
The bus bumped and jolted to its stop, and Chu Songzhu hurried home.
In the distance, she thought she saw a familiar figure at the gate.
As she got closer, it really was Lu Zhuo!
"What are you doing here?"
Before he could answer, Chu Songzhu rushed out the door and ran up to the fourth floor, panting, "I'm moving now, so I can't properly entertain you."
"You're moving? Why so soon?"
"The landlord wants to sell. I really don't understand, who would buy such an old house?"
She threw her bag onto the sofa as she entered.
"There are some ingredients left in the fridge. I'll make some noodles, why don't you join me?"
Lu Zhuo nodded, already seated, and turned on the TV.
Once the water boiled, he added the noodles, vegetables, meat, and eggs. In less than ten minutes, two fragrant bowls of noodles were ready.
Lu Zhuo stared at the less-than-appealing noodles for a couple of seconds before elegantly picking up his chopsticks.
"How is it?"
"Very good." Lu Zhuo had to admit that Chu Songzhu had made such a simple bowl of noodles incredibly delicious.
After finishing most of the bowl, Lu Zhuo put down his chopsticks and said solemnly, "I want to discuss something with you."
Chu Songzhu was only thinking about finishing his noodles and moving, and without stopping, he exhaled a "Hmm?" through his nose.
"Do you want to move in with me?"
"Huh?"
Too excited, he choked on his noodles and coughed violently for a while before calming down.
"What did you say?" Chu Songzhu coughed until tears streamed down his face, quickly trying to catch his breath.
"My house is alright, some rooms are empty, you can stay if you want." Lu Zhuo's slender fingers interlaced on the table.
"Your place must be expensive, right? I can't afford the rent."
"The house is already bought, so there's no rent issue."
"That won't do."
"Then just pay me the rent here."
"That's not enough."
"Then take over the housekeeping, do the chores for me, that way I can save on hiring a housekeeper." Lu Zhuo shifted his position, his face still beaming with confidence.
"Why would you help me?"
"Aren't we friends?"
Although she hadn't been to Lu Zhuo's place, she knew that a young master like him lived in a place a hundred times better than this, and since he also took the 220 bus, he must be in the vicinity. The location was perfect; it was the best option for her right now, but…
Chu Songzhu thought for a moment and said, "Then thank you."
"My car is downstairs. Put your things in, and we can leave now."
Chu Songzhu didn't care about anything else at this point, rolled up her sleeves, and carried her things away.
Lu Zhuo drove the car downstairs to the door and was about to help him move things when
Chu Songzhu stopped him, saying, "You watch the car." Lu Zhuo didn't say anything more; physical labor wasn't his forte, so he simply sat in the car and watched Chu Songzhu bustle about.
It was already autumn, and the nights in the south weren't so hot, but after seven or eight trips, Chu Songzhu's clothes were soaked with sweat, and the lines of his back looked alluring in the night.
Finally, after unloading the last box, Lu Zhuo handed over the tissue box. "Why are there so many boxes?"
"It's all books." Chu Songzhu's breathing was still uneven, his bangs were damp and hanging down, his face was flushed from exercise, and he smelled of fresh sweat.
Lu Zhuo licked his slightly dry lips, thinking about eating the "dessert" in front of him right here in the car.
"What's wrong?" Seeing that he hadn't driven for a while and was just staring at him, Chu Songzhu wiped his sweat and asked.
Lu Zhuo came back to his senses and reached out to remove the tissue scraps from his face.
"Oh, thank you."
Only then did Lu Zhuo start the car. If he held back any longer, he would have a problem. The important thing was to quickly devour this guy.

On the way, Chu Songzhu called Da Pang's landlord to tell him that he wasn't moving in anymore. It was a free-to-move arrangement anyway, so the landlord didn't say anything.
The car stopped at Zhuoyue Garden. Looking at the magnificent gate and the security checkpoints, Chu Songzhu felt increasingly uneasy. Although he was prepared for a thrill, he hadn't expected it to be this intense.
Excellence Garden was the most famous villa community in G City, filled with villas, each costing tens of millions of yuan—and that was several years ago. Those who could afford to live here were undoubtedly successful and influential figures.
Passing through villa after villa, Chu Songzhu felt like he was abroad. Each villa looked just like the ones he'd seen on TV, complete with lawns and garages, and the distance between them was considerable. Finally, the car stopped in front of a red-tiled villa. Chu Songzhu got out and was about to start unloading his luggage when Lu Zhuo stopped him. "Someone will come to help you out later."
Lu Zhuo took out his keys and opened the door. Chu Songzhu exclaimed, "Huh?"
"What?"
"It's just a regular key. I thought it would be one of those high-tech fingerprint locks you see on TV."
Lu Zhuo laughed. "If we needed that kind of high-tech here, what would be the point of the security guards at the door? This place is designed to be a comfortable and relaxing living environment."
Chu Songzhu nodded and entered the house. He was immediately stunned.
Damn rich people.
Lu Zhuo's villa was a duplex, a luxurious residence of about 300 square meters, a blend of Chinese and Western styles. There was a living room, a study, and a bedroom. Although the decoration was simple, it exuded high taste. The most striking feature was the carpet, which was made entirely of white wool. The wool fibers were as high as two fingers when they stood up. Chu Songzhu was so intimidated that he didn't dare to take off his shoes.
Lu Zhuo changed out of his indoor slippers and greeted him, "I'll show you your room."
Chu Songzhu was covered in dust from moving things earlier. Looking at the white carpet, he worried that if he made any noise, he would shake all the dust off.
Following Lu Zhuo up to the second floor, Chu Songzhuo said, "There's a study and a bedroom upstairs. This is my room; you can stay in the guest room next door."
Although it was called a guest room, it was quite large, furnished like a five-star hotel. The white double bed made him want to lie down. The room had a bathroom and was fully equipped.
While he was looking around, the doorbell rang downstairs.
It was the movers. They led him to put his things in the room. Chu Songzhu didn't have the energy to unpack, only taking out the essentials. When he took out his clothes and put them in the walk-in closet, he couldn't help but feel that his simple belongings clashed terribly with the style of the place.
After the movers left, Lu Zhuo only came over to tell him his wake-up time before going back to his room.
After a quick shower and throwing his clothes in the washing machine, Chu Songzhu climbed wearily into bed.
He'd deal with tomorrow's problems tomorrow.
