这时，陶雨突然想到一个问题，忙道：「龙儿，你说你只愿意叫我奶奶，以後我们有了女儿，我肯定让她叫我妈妈，那称呼不就完全乱了，你不就成爲你女儿的晚辈了？」
尴尬地笑了下後，陶龙说道：「在我们这个乱伦家庭，关系本来就乱，称呼乱点也正常。我觉得大家各叫各的，反正她是我女儿，她只能叫我爸爸。」
「龙儿，说起叫你爸爸，我又想到一个问题。万一哪天你爸回来了，我们的女儿叫他什麽呢？」

陶雨一听赶忙摇头：「不行，女儿叫我妈妈，却叫你爸爷爷，那我岂不就成了你爸的晚辈了。他们都是我的子女，我们女儿只能叫你爸哥哥。」
陶龙顿时一个头两个大，毫不妥协地说道：「女儿叫我爸爸，叫我爸哥哥，那我爸不就成了我的晚辈了，我绝对不同意。」
陶雨也不让步：「反正我是你爸的亲妈，在称呼上我坚决不做他的晚辈。」
祖孙两人互不相让，气氛顿时紧张起来。感到这麽僵持下去也不是办法，陶龙只能打马虎眼：「反正我长这麽大都没见过我爸，估计是找不到了。就算找到了，我也不会让他去桃源打扰我们的幸福生活的。」
「不怕一万，就怕万一。如果真的找到了你爸，他要见我们怎麽办？」
想了想後，陶龙说道：「我连我爸的面都没见过，我们找到他的可能性微乎其微。至于我爸找到我们的可能性更小，因爲他要找的话也只能到陶村和刘家庄打听，而这世界上根本就没有人知道我们生活在桃源。当然，万一找到的话那是一定要相认的，如何称呼到时候再商量。」
见陶龙说得在理，陶雨也就没有异议了。
争辩虽然结束了，但陶文（即本书《前传二》中的陶强）初进桃源时，陶云开玩笑地逼着他认陶龙爲长辈，与此时的陶雨意见出奇的一致。
两人休息得差不多的时候，又开始了新一轮大战。
接下来的一个多星期，祖孙俩白天闲逛，晚上播种，生活很有规律。
8月4日上午两人购买了些生活用品後，离开了县城。
回桃源不久，陶雨就有了妊娠反应。一家人兴奋不已，杀鸡烹鱼庆贺一番。陶龙更是激动，成就感油然而生：让祖孙三代长辈都怀上了自己的孩子，这可是一般人想都不敢想的事情啊。
暑假结束时，陶龙不得不告别亲人，恋恋不舍地离开桃源。临行前，他还在半岁多的牡丹脸上亲了十几下。
1977年 12月2日，陶云顺産一女。一个多月後，放寒假回到桃源的陶龙别提多开心了，当即给自己第二个女儿取名蔷薇。
1978年 5月20日，陶雨生下她第三个女儿，同时也是陶龙的第三个女儿。暑假回家的陶龙给她取名海棠，随後自然又感慨一番：上天对他太好了，知道他不想要儿子，就让他的女人专生女孩。

Because Tao Yun was older and it was uncertain when she would go through menopause, the second attempt would begin with her. Just like last year, Tao Long took Tao Yun to Nanlin County and stayed at another hotel for about ten days. Since Tao Yun looked to be only in her forties, no one suspected their mother-son relationship. Tao Yun's belly indeed cooperated, and she quickly became pregnant.
In September of that year, Tao Long met Wang Ting by chance and began his happy life at Tao Le Ju (see Part 1 for details).
On April 22, 1979, Tao Yun gave birth to Tao Long's fourth daughter, named Dingxiang.
That summer, having grown tired of the county town, Tao Long took Tao Yu to the provincial capital, where they booked a room again, still posing as mother and son. They spent their days sightseeing and their nights having sex, leading a very fulfilling life. Twenty days later, back in Taoyuan, Tao Yu unsurprisingly became pregnant.
On May 3, 1980, Tao Long's sixth daughter was born, named Du Juan. (Tao Long's fifth daughter, Tao Fen, was born to Wang Ting; see the first part of this book for details.)
In late June 1980, Teacher Luo was transferred back to Shanghai, and Tao Long gained control of the hot air balloon, ending the history of only being able to live in Taoyuan for a period of time during winter and summer vacations. From then on, he could freely and frequently travel between Taoyuan and Taoleju.
Because he decided not to take the college entrance examination, Tao Long stopped going to school after receiving the hot air balloon. On June 20, he returned to Taoyuan and stayed for a week, with only one purpose: to give his three-year-old daughter, Mudan, a younger sister.
Liu Juan certainly didn't disappoint Tao Long; her belly soon became pregnant. On April 6, 1981, Tao Long's seventh daughter was born, named Shuixian. (Incidentally, Tao Long clearly states the birth dates of each of his daughters, and each event has a specific timeframe. To avoid unnecessary complications, the narrative avoids mentioning ages; readers can calculate it themselves. For example, in the next chapter, "The Peony Blooms," Peony's birthday was mentioned in the previous chapter; her age at the time of the story can be easily calculated.)
Although the three elders had each had two children, they all felt that Tao Long should have a third, for the sake of his future sexual happiness. Tao Long wasn't a selfish person, and after careful consideration, he rejected their suggestion. His reasoning was: there were already six daughters in Taoyuan; if each had two children, there would only be about 40 people in three generations, meaning they could have sex every few days. However, if the three elders all had three children, there would be nine daughters, and over a hundred people in three generations. He would be happy then, but his daughters would suffer, barely getting to have sex twice a month.
Seeing that Tao Long's words made perfect sense, the three women abandoned their desire to conceive again. What pleased them most was that Tao Long, though young, was exceptionally upright. He respected the elderly now and would surely love the young in the future; being his woman was truly a blessing. With a man like this, what more could one ask for?
