Chapter Seven: The Old Neighbor
In a hazy state, a sliver of light tore through the endless darkness. Lin Mo felt dazed and
confused, his chest tight. In a daze, the figure of a woman appeared and disappeared before his eyes. In an instant, everything from his dream
came back to him, and confusion and fear enveloped his heart.
"Ah!" Lin Mo felt himself struggle and wake up from the darkness,
sitting up abruptly from the haystack. His eyes snapped open. The orange firelight flickered in the room, and waves of warmth
drove away the cold and dampness, leaving him feeling warm and comfortable all over.
Lin Mo let out a soft sigh of relief, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. Outside the window, it was still dark, everything
shrouded in darkness. Lin Mo looked around and couldn't help but smile bitterly. No wonder he had felt short of breath and chest
tightness in his sleep. He saw Aunt Bi lying on her side beside him, one jade-like arm across his chest, pulling him close,
their skin intimately pressed together. Beside her, Serena lay sprawled out, her cleavage barely concealed, fast asleep, one leg unceremoniously
resting on her stomach, showing no trace of ladylike decorum.
Unable to sleep either way, Lin Mo finally crawled out of the entanglement between the two beauties, one tall and one short, and sat alone
by the fire, hugging his knees, gazing at the leaping flames, lost in thought.
"The Shadow Demon Network, a magical network created by the goddess Shar, what exactly is its significance? The Night Lady
's followers are all priests and clerics; their divine power originates from their faith in the goddess Shar.
They gain the goddess's favor through prayer, rituals, or sacrifices, receiving divine power in return. This power is stored within the priests
' bodies, allowing them to directly unleash various divine spells when needed, without drawing energy from any magical network. Does
the Night Lady intend to create a group of shadow mages in the material world to expand her church's power and better
counter the church of the Moon Goddess Suren? There's absolutely no need for that. Suren's
power has been greatly diminished in this thousand-year-long struggle with the Night Lady, falling from high-level to mid-level divine power. Suren's church has also
shrunk significantly, consistently at a disadvantage in its conflict with the Night Lady's church. Under these circumstances, the Night Lady creating the Shadow Demon
Network to counter Suren is unnecessary and meaningless. Moreover, the appearance of the Shadow Demon Network would only anger the goddess of magic
, Mysra…"
"Goddess of Magic... Shadow Demon Network... Lady of the Night... Mithra... Magic Network..."
Connecting these pieces of information in his mind, sketching out a network of relationships... Suddenly, Lin Mo seemed to remember something—
a distant and simple rumor: the Goddess of Magic, Mithra, once joined forces with the Moon Goddess, Suren, to fight against
the Lady of the Night. Although there was no evidence to prove the rumor's truth, based on his contact with the Lady of the Night in the spiritual world
, this rumor probably revealed a glimpse of a secret between the gods.
"The Lady of the Night created the Shadow Demon Network to fight against the Goddess of Magic, Mithra. She herself is a mage, a
follower of the Goddess of Magic, and in a dream, the Lady of the Night established a connection between herself and the Shadow Demon Network... This
..." The thought of himself, a mere magic apprentice, caught in the battle between two great gods made Lin Mo's
face turn pale. After racking his brains
for a while, Lin Mo came to this conclusion, which left him somewhat amused and exasperated. The whole thing was illogical
and strangely unsettling. Fortunately, he was an optimistic person, so he simply stopped thinking about it. Lin Mo shook his head, banishing these chaotic thoughts from his mind. It was already getting light outside, with a hint of dawn appearing in the eastern sky. Having sat there for so long, his body stiff, Lin Mo got up and stretched. His bones cracked, and a tingling sensation spread throughout his body. Lin Mo shivered and groaned comfortably. Moving his limbs, Lin Mo turned around, intending to wake Catherine to prepare breakfast together. A mature and beautiful woman lay on her side on a pile of hay, a few strands of dark green hair obscuring her delicate face like waves. Her jade-like arms were naturally stretched out beside her face, and her full, rounded breasts were pressed together, appearing even larger. The two rosy nipples rose and fell with her long breaths, displaying their proud elasticity. Lin Mo swallowed, his gaze sliding down her alluring curves… Something familiar yet strange came into view, and Lin Mo froze, his expression becoming increasingly complex—surprise, panic, and a hint of amusement. Catherine's waist was slender and vibrant, but her once delicate navel was now covered with a pool of viscous white liquid, swaying precariously with her breath. In his previous life, as a young man of the new era who took it upon himself to oppose vulgarity, Lin Mo was very familiar with this; it frequently appeared in the countless films he had watched with a critical spirit . Lin Mo covered his face and sighed. Last night's dream was incredibly vivid, its most direct effect being—he had embarrassingly ejaculated, and to make matters worse, he'd ejaculated on Catherine. The thought of Aunt Bi possibly "gently" dismembering him sent a chill down Lin Mo's spine . He quickly tore a piece of cloth from his clothes and quietly crouched down beside Catherine, furtively wiping himself. A faint fishy smell filled the air. Lin Mo was sweating profusely, his hands clumsily working on Catherine's body , when suddenly a lazy voice, like a thunderclap, rang in his ears, "You little rascal, what are you doing?" Lin Mo quickly hid the semen-stained cloth behind his back, his face pale and his body stiff as he slowly turned around , forcing an awkward smile. "Ah... Aunt Bi... you, you're awake." Catherine looked at him suspiciously, smiling mischievously, "You little rascal, a whole..." "Good morning, what are you rubbing on me ? You didn't do anything good, did you?" Lin Mo chuckled, scratching his head casually. "How could I, Aunt Bi? I'm known for my purity, and I always win people over with virtue..." At this moment, Lin Mo noticed Catherine's strange gaze. Following her gaze, he almost burst into tears; in his panic, he had scratched his head to cover it up, which was fine in itself, but... but the hand he had extended was the one holding the cloth... He scratched it a couple of times, and the result was a patch of white hair on his head. "Ah, ah, ah, Aunt Bi, please don't misunderstand, this is my newly invented magical item called hairspray!"

"Hairspray... hairspray... it's amazing, hahaha..."
Catherine ignored Lin Mo's strange expression and sheepish grin, looked at the so-called "hairspray," and suddenly
twitched her nose a few times. Lin Mo's heart sank, his body tensed, ready to rush out the door at any moment. Sure enough,
Catherine suddenly realized something, her pretty face flushed, and she rolled her
eyes at him. Lin Mo felt a chill, his eyes fixed on Catherine's hands, ready to run away immediately if there was any movement,
saving his life was the priority.
But after waiting for a long time, there was no reaction. Lin Mo cautiously glanced at Catherine, only to see the beautiful woman
biting her lip, looking at him shyly but with deep affection. Lin Mo was stunned; this result
was too different from what he had imagined.
"Aunt Bi... Aunt Bi, I, I really didn't mean to..."
"So you did it on purpose?"
"No, no, I didn't, I..."
"Then you did it on purpose."
...
Catherine looked at Lin Mo, who was covered in sweat, with a fawning expression, and hurriedly explaining to her.
A sweet feeling welled up in her heart for no reason. This little guy was usually calm and composed, as if he had everything under control. This
was the first time she had ever seen him so flustered. Then she remembered
the look of lust on Lin Mo's face when he secretly looked at her. Catherine blushed. Bah, what a lustful guy.
Lin Mo stared blankly at the blushing Catherine, his mind going blank. Could Aunt Bi be sick? This was
n't what he'd imagined. Foolishly, Lin Mo reached out to check Catherine's temperature…
"Ouch! Aunt Bi, let go! It hurts! It hurts!" Lin Mo cried out, grimacing, his two
slender fingers twisting his ear.
"Aunt Bi, be gentle! This is flesh! Ah, ah, my ear's about to fall off!" Lin Mo looked pitifully at
Catherine.
Catherine, annoyed and embarrassed, grabbed Lin Mo's ear. "You little rascal, trying to take advantage of Aunt Bi?"
"Want…"
"Hmm?!"
"Ah, no, no, it was just an accident, really, I swear to the Party there will never be a next time…"

Catherine didn't quite understand Lin Mo's meaning, but seeing his confident expression, a
wave of tenderness washed over her. She released Lin Mo's ear. "Alright, I'll let you off easy this time. I won't let you off so easily next time."
Lin Mo rubbed his reddened ear and asked cautiously, "Aunt Bi, could it be that… I can
have a next time?"
Catherine's eyebrows furrowed, and her hand immediately reached for the hilt of her knife. Lin Mo
's face paled. "Ah, Aunt Bi, I'll go prepare breakfast." With that, he rushed out the door. Catherine watched Lin Mo's retreating figure and burst out laughing. She looked
down and saw a few milky white droplets still remaining deep inside her navel. She slowly wiped them away,
lost in thought. Her almond-shaped eyes were hazy like spring water, her face sometimes shy and sometimes angry. She slowly
became infatuated. "
Phew—
" Lin Mo let out a long breath, patted his chest, and finally survived. He randomly found a big tree,
plopped down under it, and gasped for breath. The sound of waves crashing filled his ears. Lin Mo looked
into the distance and smiled self-deprecatingly. The energy that people unleash under pressure is indeed astonishing. In his
panic to escape, he had run to the edge of the forest, and the sea was already faintly visible in the distance.
Lin Mo had a sudden idea. Since he was at the seaside, he might as well go there and see if he could catch a few fish
to take back to Aunt Bi and Serena to improve their lives. After resting for a while, Lin Mo jumped up and ran towards the sea
.
He quickly arrived at the beach, but the scene before him left Lin Mo speechless. Where the sea had once submerged,
large sections were now exposed, patches of seaweed clung to the seabed, and countless puddles dotted
the sand, trapping many fish and shellfish, barely alive. The tide had receded into the distant mist, weakly
lapping the shore.
What…what was going on…?
Lin Mo looked up at the sky; it remained a hazy gray, the sun obscured by thick clouds.
He roughly estimated the time—it was nearing noon—but he had never seen the tide recede at this hour.
Carefully observing his surroundings, Lin Mo slowly entered this hellish scene.
Fish of all sizes lay stranded on the dry sand, their pale eyes staring at the sky, emitting a putrid
stench. Flocks of seabirds circled overhead, occasionally swooping down, noisily enjoying their feast,
only to be startled by Lin Mo, an outsider, flapping their wings and scattering to the side.
Lin Mo looked around, sensing the magical aura nearby. Strangely, there was no magical fluctuation whatsoever.
If it wasn't magic, Lin Mo couldn't imagine what force could create such a scene. Unconsciously, Lin Mo
walked closer to the mist, observing carefully. The deep blue seawater churned slowly at his feet, producing
large plumes of white foam. A cool breeze touched his face. Lin Mo looked up, suddenly realizing something, his
expression changed drastically. He grabbed a few clam shells from a nearby puddle and ran desperately towards the shore.
...
Catherine and Serena sat around the fire, whispering. A rustling sound began outside.
Serena got up and went to the door. A curtain of rain draped across the room, blurring the distant scenery.
It was raining. The little girl returned to the house with a worried expression. Her younger brother Lin hadn't returned yet, and with the rain,
she was afraid something might have happened to him.
Looking at Serena, who seemed lost in thought, Catherine couldn't help but tease, "Little girl, missing your lover again
?" Serena blushed at the question and said sweetly, "Auntie Bi," then grabbed Catherine's hand and began to act coquettishly
. Looking at the adorable Serena, Catherine felt a surge of inexplicable emotion. She pulled Serena into her arms
and gently stroked her hair. Serena was startled, but quickly calmed down, nestled in the warm
embrace… Suddenly, Catherine felt a chill on her chest. Looking down, she saw Serena in her arms…
Rain, sobbing softly, was quickly calmed by Catherine who gently patted her back, offering tender comfort.
Selena soon calmed down and began to quietly recount her experiences…
Selena was, after all, just a child. Far from home, with her parents missing, such a heavy blow weighed
on her heart. Catherine's unintentional act opened her heart, and she began to freely vent her
pain and repression… After recounting her experiences, Selena felt much lighter. Looking at
the gentle face of Catherine, she whispered: "Auntie Bi, will you...will you be my mother?"
Catherine was stunned. Looking at Serena's expectant expression, she trembled slightly as she hugged Serena
tightly, pressing her face against her chest, and said excitedly, "My child, of course I will."
Serena looked up in surprise, her face beaming, and cried out happily, "Mommy!" Then she buried her face
in Catherine's arms, hugging her slender waist tightly and sobbing uncontrollably. Catherine's eyes also gradually welled up with tears.
The rain outside intensified, but inside, it was warm and cozy, a deep sense of familial love flowing between the two.
Just at this touching moment, a disheveled figure appeared in the doorway, shattering the warm
scene. Catherine and Serena looked up in alarm at the outside.
Lin Mo was soaking wet, a mixture of rain and sweat indistinguishable. His feet were covered in mud and bits of grass, and
a gash on his calf revealed raw flesh, drops of blood seeping into the ground.
He clutched several clam shells tightly in his hands.
But at that moment, Lin Mo had completely forgotten the pain in his leg. He was utterly stunned by the scene before him, a
sight that seemed to tantalize him: two stunning beauties, one large and one small, pressed tightly together by a warm fire,
their ample breasts showcasing their impressive elasticity. Tears streaming down their faces, they were locked in a passionate embrace
(because Catherine's lower body was in a serpentine position, Serena straddled Catherine, her lower body pressed
against Catherine's waist, so… it looked very much like… that). This… this was simply
the ultimate yuri scene that every lecherous man had ever dreamed of!
But then he thought again, and tears welled up in Lin Mo's eyes: a deserted island, a lone man, a little girl, and a mature woman; what a
suggestive scene! But the little girl and the mature woman are actually a lesbian couple! Can you imagine such a life
? Can you?! Lin Mo sighed to the heavens: Is being unconventional really that fun?! Can't we do something else?! Don't they know
how unbalanced the male-to-female ratio is these days? How many guys are still single? All the good girls are being taken by pigs! Lesbians, lesbians,
my ass! I hate lesbians!
Lin Mo was heartbroken. Suppressing his grief, he slowly raised a finger, pointing at the two women, and
said in a trembling voice, "You...you...you actually did such...such a shameful thing behind my back! I...
uh? Where...where?!"
A pair of warm little hands grabbed his arm, and at the same time, he received a hard flick on the forehead.
Catherine stood beside him, glaring at him menacingly. "You brat, what are you thinking about all day?" The sword
behind the beauty emitted a faint glow, and Lin Mo shivered. Turning around, Serena
looked at him shyly and whispered, "Yes, little brother, what were you thinking? I just recognized Aunt Bi as my mother."
With those words, Lin Mo instantly went from hell to heaven. A feeling of 1949 welled up inside him. Mother and
daughter, threesome, oh my god, just thinking about it made him excited. He was moving towards the dream of countless men
; the ups and downs of life were truly thrilling.
Lin Mo stood there with a silly grin, staring blankly ahead, lost in a passionate fantasy.
His manhood was peeking out, yearningly peering in. The two women blushed and spat simultaneously. Serena even pinched
Lin Mo's arm hard. "You bad boy!"
Lin Mo snapped out of his reverie, wiping his drool. Damn, that little girl really hit hard; he
had a bruise on his arm.
The two women pressed Lin Mo down by the fire, wiping the mud off him. Serena, looking pained, carefully bandaged
the wound on Lin Mo's leg.
Lin Mo skewered the clam meat on a branch and grilled it while inquiring about the island from Catherine. Catherine
listened to Lin Mo's account, frowning thoughtfully. "I've lived here for over 200 years, and apart from you, I've never
seen anyone else, nor have I sensed any magical fluctuations. However… this island does have some strange aspects.
The thick fog surrounding it never dissipates, and…"
Catherine paused, "This island has never been affected by the sea."
Lin Mo's heart sank. Sure enough, the abnormal receding tide meant towering waves outside, while here it
was calm. This meant there must be a magic circle somewhere on the island, which he and Aunt Bi had simply never discovered.
Lin Mo voiced his conjecture and reasoning, asking earnestly, "Aunt Bi,
have you been to every single place on this island?"
Catherine pondered Lin Mo's reasoning, secretly astonished. Could there really be a magic circle
on the island that she hadn't been able to sense? Upon hearing this, they immediately began to rack their brains. The room was quiet except for the sizzling of the roasting meat
and the crackling of the firewood. Lin Mo and Serena looked at Catherine with serious expressions.
Suddenly, Catherine's eyes lit up. "I've been to every inch of this island's surface, but
I've never been inside."
Lin Mo and Serena exchanged glances, both understanding Catherine's meaning. The only clue lay
beneath their feet—inside the volcano.
...
Based on Lin Mo's speculation, there might be something strange inside the volcano, perhaps leading to a way out of Misty Island
. The two women's enthusiasm was immediately ignited, and they quickly began preparing for the upcoming adventure. Catherine
chopped vines and wood in the forest to make ropes and weapons for the expedition,
while Lin Mo and the little girl prepared food for the three of them. Lin Mo even took the opportunity to once again harass the warblers in the treetops
—for their eggs and the feathers needed for the Featherfall spell.
By dusk on the third day, all preparations were complete. As soon as it got dark, Lin Mo and the other two...
He lay down early on the haystack to rest and recharge for tomorrow's adventure. Lin Mo lay between the two women,
gazing at the flickering light on the roof. The thought of leaving this place and returning to the prosperous continent filled him with
excitement, and he tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep.
Serena, nestled in his arms, was already fast asleep. The little girl had been exhausted these past few days preparing food and braiding rope
. Lin Mo chuckled softly, pulling her beautiful body closer, hoping she would have sweet dreams. Just then,
a deep sigh came from behind him. Lin Mo turned over and saw, in the dim light, Catherine's eyes gleaming with a faint
light, looking at him with reluctance.
Lin Mo was startled and grabbed Catherine's hand. "Aunt Bi, what's wrong?"
Catherine forced a smile and grasped Lin Mo's hand in return. "It's nothing, little one. You and Serena have a chance to return
to the continent, and Aunt Bi is happy for you."
"What do you mean by 'me and Serena'? Aunt Bi, aren't you leaving with us?"
Catherine lowered her head and said softly, "Aunt Bi comes from the Infinite Abyss, is a six-armed serpent demon,
and in your human eyes, she is the embodiment of evil. Besides, what difference is there between my body and yours? It's impossible to hide. If I, this
anomaly, return to the Forgotten Realms with you, and others see me, it will definitely bring you endless trouble, and
maybe..."
At this moment, a hand covered her mouth, silencing the rest of her words. Catherine looked up in surprise
and saw Lin Mo staring intently at her. A sudden panic welled up in her heart, and Catherine
closed her eyes shyly.
"Aunt Bi, race, status, age—I don't care about any of that. For you, I can
stand against the whole world." A deep voice rang in Catherine's ears. Catherine opened her eyes abruptly. These words
were like a lightning bolt, piercing through layers of obstacles and striking her heart with a heart-wrenching pain.
Tears streamed uncontrollably from her eyes, a mixture of happiness and sorrow.
"But…" Catherine wanted to argue, but Lin Mo got up and placed the sleeping little girl in her arms. Then
he whispered in her ear, "Aunt Bi, don't forget Serena. Do you want her to experience the pain of losing her mother again
?"
Hearing this, Catherine suddenly weakened. Yes, Serena, my daughter.
For the first time in hundreds of years, I had tasted the flavor of family love. Was I really going to give up like this? For the first time in her life, Catherine felt lost and
helpless.
A pair of warm, strong hands wrapped around her waist from behind, and Catherine's soft body
stiffened instantly. Lin Mo said softly, "Aunt Bi, whether we can return to the mainland is still unknown. Don't
worry too much. If we can return, believe me, I will find a way to protect you; if we can't, then I
will hold your hand and stand on the beach with you, watching the sunset together, growing old slowly. Actually, whether we can go back or not
really doesn't matter to me, because I only want to be with you. If you're not here, then I'd rather not go back to the Forgotten Realms
..."
"Aunt Bi, wherever you are is paradise to me. No one can stop us from being together...
" Lin Mo paused, reached out and cupped her mature, beautiful face, her eyes filled with tears, his deep gaze fixed
on her emerald-like eyes, and said, word by word, "Because, I love you!"
Catherine stared blankly at the young man's handsome face, the words "I love you!" echoing in her ears like thunder.
"I love you!" "I love you!"...Tears welled up again, scenes of meeting and getting to know the boy
flashed through her mind. In an instant, it felt as if a thousand-pound burden had been lifted. The battles in the abyss, the scheming among demons
, the plans of the Dark Lord...all of these were left behind. She only wanted to hide
behind the boy like a little woman, entrusting everything to him, watching him shelter her from the wind and rain...
Catherine suddenly opened her heart, feeling completely relaxed. She pressed her delicate body tightly against
the slightly immature chest behind her, one hand tightly gripping the hands around her waist, the other embracing
Serena in her arms. As if she had made up her mind, a sweet smile appeared on her lips, and she gently closed her eyes.
As she drifted off to sleep, she whispered, "We'll be together forever." The
next
day, Lin Mo and his companions got up early, ate a quick bite, and set off for the mountaintop.
Lin Mo used up all the parchment scrolls he had to make nine Featherfall Scrolls, packing three for each person in case of emergency
.
Around noon, they reached the summit, a barren expanse with only a
crater about several tens of meters in diameter. The dark opening faced the sky, its depths unfathomable
. Wind swirled above the opening, leaving a whistling sound, and a sense of vastness filled Lin Mo's heart.
Catherine carefully observed the interior of the volcano, then turned to Lin Mo and shook her head. Lin Mo nodded, but
Catherine still didn't sense any magical fluctuations.
Lin Mo found a large rock weighing over ten kilograms at the entrance and, together with Serena, coated it with arcane
powder. Lin Mo took out his spellbook, cast a light spell on it, and then pushed the glittering rock
into the crater.
The three of them stared intently at the falling stone. After descending about 100 meters, the light suddenly
vanished. Lin Mo's heart sank. Natural darkness couldn't absorb the light of arcane magic; only
darkness conjured by spells could do so. Catherine beside him exclaimed, "Dark Curtain!"
Dark Curtain, a renowned level 6 spell of the Evocation tree, shrouds a space of uncertain shape in darkness.
From the outside, nothing can be seen within (darksight is ineffective), but from the inside, everything can be seen. It can
conceal magical fluctuations within the darkness.
Lin Mo looked at Catherine with a grim expression, and she looked equally somber. This mountain was so
vast; to be able to unleash such a large-scale Dark Curtain, what a powerful being it must be! Just then,
the sound of stones colliding came from the darkness. Lin Mo was startled and quickly estimated the distance it had fallen. He soon arrived at the answer: about six or seven hundred meters. He secretly breathed a sigh of relief; the time it took for a Featherfall spell was more than enough, and he wouldn't need to replenish his scrolls
along the way .

Catherine looked at him with concern. Lin Mo smiled and said, "Aunt Bi, the good news is that it's not
as deep as we thought, only about six or seven hundred meters. The bad news is that there might be something unusual
in there." Catherine immediately rolled her eyes at him, which amused Lin Mo. Aunt Bi was becoming more and more feminine
.
The three of them tied ropes around their waists and linked them together. Lin Mo cast the Featherfall
spell on each of them. The group walked to the cave entrance. The deep cave entrance was like the mouth of a strange monster, without any light.
The gravel kicked at their feet fell down the cliff and was swallowed by the darkness in an instant. Catherine turned around and nodded slightly to her lover.
Lin Mo squeezed her hand, everything was understood without words. Then Catherine jumped down first.
As the rope around his waist gradually tightened, Lin Mo took a deep breath, put his arm around Serena's slender waist, and jumped down
.
A gust of cold wind blew past, and Serena shivered involuntarily. Lin Mo pulled her closer to him, and
the three of them, like a few soft feathers, slowly disappeared into the endless darkness.
The surroundings were pitch black, so dark that one couldn't see their own hand in front of their face. This feeling was extremely uncomfortable; the two, so close yet
unable to see each other, couldn't see each other at all. Lin Mo, having experienced the Night Lady's dream, felt relatively alright, but the little girl
's breathing immediately became rapid upon entering the dark sky. Lin Mo pressed his face against the little girl's, and Serena calmed down.
The rope around his waist twitched rhythmically every few seconds—a pre-arranged signal with Aunt Bi. Seeing
that everything was going smoothly, Lin Mo finally relaxed a little.
They drifted down for about 10 minutes, and the darkness began to blur. Lin Mo was overjoyed;
this meant they were about to pass through this thick layer of darkness. Sure enough, a few minutes later, accompanied by a
dazzling arcane light, the three of them passed through the dark sky, but the scene before them left them speechless.
A towering mage tower, tens of meters high, leaned against the opposite cave wall. Its spire was embedded in the rock face, bearing numerous
scratches. The massive tower radiated arcane light, occasionally displaying strange characters and magical
symbols. The tower's architectural style was completely different from any mage tower on the continent; it looked…
like an artifact from a thousand years ago in a museum.
Unlike Catherine, who stared at the mage tower with a tense expression, Lin Mo's mouth watered, his eyes gleaming. A
mage tower! That's a symbol of status, identity, and power! My god, how many gold coins would that cost? When
will I be able to have one? The three landed unsteadily on the ground. Lin Mo finally managed to shed his lecherous
grin, wiped his drool, and began to carefully observe the mage tower before him. The tower's main gate was sealed with a
magic circle composed of two nine-pointed stars. The patterns and symbols on it were incredibly complex, and the two nine-pointed stars were constantly
rotating in opposite directions; the surrounding defensive magic appeared and disappeared intermittently.
Lin Mo frowned, circling the entire mage tower several times. Aunt Bi and Serena watched him anxiously
. Just then, Lin Mo let out a cheer, and the two rushed over. They saw Lin Mo laboriously moving a pile of stones
, under which was a magic circle, a corner of which was vaguely visible.
With the help of Aunt Bi and Serena, Lin Mo quickly cleared away the small magic circle and casually
swept it... He brushed away the loose soil, placed his spellbook in the center, pressed one hand on the cover, closed
his eyes, and began to infuse it with magical energy. Soon, the entire magic circle began to slowly rotate, the dark
characters and lines emitting a faint blue light that flickered on the faces of the three.
After about ten seconds, the magic circle stopped rotating. Lin Mo opened his eyes, picked up the spellbook from the ground,
and the entire magic circle went dark. Turning around, he saw Serena looking at him curiously. Lin Mo smiled
and explained, "This is a common magic circle found in mage settlements. When a stranger visits,
they can place their spellbook on it to convey their message to the owner, expressing that they have no
ill intentions. It's a simple one-way communication tool."
"Alright," Lin Mo took a deep breath, suppressing his nervousness, and said in as calm a voice as possible,
"Let's see if this is a hospitable host."
Catherine stood at the forefront, her hands gripping her battle sword tightly, her entire serpentine body coiled together, ready to strike; Lin
Mo shielded Catherine behind him, his hands, clutching the magic book, were sweaty. A tense atmosphere
permeated the three of them, and all eyes were focused on the gate of the magic tower.
The flickering magic circle continued its slow rotation, the mage tower's gate standing silently behind it,
covered in dust, its length of time unknown. The gate was adorned with ornate patterns,
shimmering faintly in the arcane light. The group waited patiently, the seconds ticking by. Suddenly, the nine-pointed
star magic circle erupted with a blinding light, stinging their eyes. Fortunately, the light
vanished in an instant, and darkness returned. Soon, the stinging began to subside, their eyes readjusting to
the darkness. Lin Mo and Catherine remained cautiously vigilant. The magic circle had stopped rotating; the radiant
arcane symbols dimmed, and the entire circle gradually disappeared into the air. A heavy, metallic
gate appeared before them. The black gate trembled, dust billowing, and with a screeching
sound, slowly opened, revealing the dark passageway of the mage tower, which had slumbered for millennia, welcoming its new
guests.
Looking at the deep, dark passage, Lin Mo nervously swallowed. Mages were generally a group lacking in morality
; many were obsessed with magical research their entire lives, with eccentric personalities. Who knew if this master might have some
terrible habits?
The door remained wide open, without the slightest sound coming from within. Lin Mo gritted his teeth, steeled his
resolve, took the two women's hands, and gave a wry smile. "Aunt Bi, let's go visit your old neighbor."
With that, the three of them held hands tightly and entered the dark tower. As their figures were swallowed by the passage, the
door slammed shut with a whooshing sound, and the magic circle that had just disappeared reappeared, once again enveloping the entire
entrance. The mage tower stood there silently, as if nothing had happened, only the echo reverberating in the mountains...
The sound of the door closing in the cave told the story of everything that had happened here.
As soon as Lin Mo entered, he felt his feet sink into the ground. Before the three of them could react, a wave of dizziness
washed over him, as if his body had been disassembled, stretched, and then reassembled. Lin Mo then collapsed onto
a cold floor, gasping for breath, his stomach churning. This was
the most typical reaction after experiencing teleportation magic; he was truly pathetic, experiencing motion sickness again in this other world.
Having barely suppressed his nausea, Lin Mo sat up. It was a spacious hall, two
rows of burning candles floating in the air under magical power. After a rough visual assessment, Lin Mo was certain that this place was
much larger than the exterior of the mage tower, meaning that spatial magic was compressed within. Lin Mo was secretly astonished.
Such extensive spatial magic was almost lost to the entire continent of Faer?n, except in the temples of a few powerful gods.
He never expected to witness this legendary spell here. Lin Mo's
curiosity about the identity of the mage tower's owner grew even stronger.
The entire hall was lifeless. The three of them leaned against the wall, nervously awaiting their master's arrival in the silence
. Soon, footsteps echoed from the darkness in the distance, accompanied by the faint sound of bones clashing.
Catherine immediately drew her sword and assumed a fighting stance, shielding the two children behind her, intently
guarding the area ahead.
In the dim light, two silvery-white lights drew closer. By the hazy candlelight, Lin Mo could vaguely make out
the clothing of the approaching figure. Strangely, it wasn't the robes worn by high-ranking mages or archmages, but rather a
type of noble attire he had never seen before.
The master's strides were large, and the two silver lights drew ever closer. Lin Mo gasped; those weren't
silver lights at all, but two flames—more precisely, soul fire. When the master of the mage tower fully revealed
himself, his face exposed in the candlelight, the little girl screamed and collapsed onto Lin Mo's back. Catherine lowered
her body, letting out a threatening growl, slowly twirling her sword, ready to attack at any moment. Lin Mo himself felt
his scalp tingle and his hair stand on end.
A "former" nobleman stood before the three, dressed in magnificent attire. His sash was embroidered with arcane symbols that
swayed with his movements, reflecting shimmering light. The clothing was made of the finest
magic-weave fabric, adorned with numerous decorations crafted from the highest-grade magical materials. Many of these ornaments
were made from high-level materials that Lin Mo had never seen before, nor even heard of. The overall appearance of this garment
differed greatly from traditional mage robes. Traditional mage robes had tightly bound cuffs and collars, while
this robe was wide and flowing, with a large ruffled collar and two trailing hems at the back,
exuding nobility and elegance.
Yet, to Lin Mo, this outfit felt inexplicably strange—yes… extremely strange… After
racking his brains for a long time, Lin Mo finally found a suitable description: the whole outfit looked more like…a theatrical costume?!
This "former" nobleman—yes, "former"—does not mean he lost his noble status,
but rather that he is no longer a person, but merely a living skeleton. Within the deep sockets of his eyes, two
silver flames of soul energy flickered. Lin Mo could feel the "he" before him slowly scrutinizing the two women and himself.
On that skeletal face, there seemed to be... seemed to be an expression of amusement and a mocking smile. Lin Mo shook
his head; he must be seeing things. A skeleton grinning at him? That was simply a fantasy,
unless... Thinking this, Lin Mo's heart clenched as if gripped by an invisible hand...
Just then, the nobleman before him bowed slightly to the three of them, performing an ancient and cumbersome mage
's salute. The flames of soul energy in his eye sockets suddenly intensified, and a
voice, brimming with aristocratic bearing and somewhat resembling a bel canto, echoed in the hall: "Welcome to my territory, dear friends..."
Lin Mo let out a silent wail. His last shred of hope was shattered with the skeleton's movements and voice
. Lin Mo almost wept, covering his face. The one before him was no ordinary skeleton or
undead, but... but a high-ranking lich!
The nobleman, however, paid no heed to the unpleasant expressions of the three spectators. He paused, then
bowed in three different directions, as if thanking the other unseen spectators and their applause, which only made the atmosphere more chilling
.
Then, the nobleman elegantly extended his hand to Catherine and the young girl, and continued, "Ah, beautiful
ladies, it's a pleasure to meet you. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Schiller Salgard,
a renowned mage and alchemist of the Nether Empire. You may call me Master Schiller or Mr. Schiller..."
The "nobleman" lich ignored Lin Mo and continued his incessant flattery of the two beauties, creating a
bizarre scene that completely dispelled the terrifying atmosphere. Lin Mo himself found it both laughable and pathetic.
What kind of world is this? Even liches can be lecherous? With your skinny frame, do you even have that ability
?!
