Chapter 1 The Siege

At dawn, a large crowd gathered under the banyan tree at the east end of Niujia Village. A man in his sixties

was telling a story:

"In the blink of an eye, Qin Qiong performed a somersault, wielding his double maces to knock the villain off his horse. The

soldiers cheered loudly. Qin Qiong was about to charge into the enemy ranks and wreak havoc when suddenly

the sound of retreat rang out..." As the old man spoke animatedly, spittle flying everywhere, they suddenly heard the sound of approaching footsteps in the distance

. Someone shouted, "Run! That yellow-haired monster is coming again!"

The crowd, who had been listening with great interest, turned pale with fear and jumped up, running away.

The old man, seeing the dust rising in the distance, did not flee like the others. He stood quietly,

waiting for the so-called yellow-haired monster to appear.

After the dust settled, a creature covered in yellow fur slowly approached. The old man noticed that this yellow-haired

monster was actually walking upright, its body no different from a human's. What puzzled him even more was that this yellow-haired monster, in

the dead of winter, was completely naked, walking in the middle of the street.

Upon closer inspection, the old man was even more astonished: a man's penis was hanging from the monster's crotch, long

and thick. Looking at the monster's eyes, they were reddish-brown. Good heavens, what else could this be but a monster?

Confirming screamed and ran away, covering his head.

This yellow-haired monster was none other than Hua Wulei. He tried to call out to the old man, but his mouth opened wide,

and no sound came out. Seeing many people fleeing, including the old man,

a surge of anger rose within him.

Hua Wulei decided to grab the old man; he desperately wanted some clothes to cover his flowing yellow

fur . Therefore, Hua Wulei flashed forward and stood before the old man, staring directly at him.

The old man trembled violently, raising his hands in a gesture of supplication and prostrating himself on the ground, pleading in a terrified voice, "Gods, spare my life!

Gods , spare my life!"

Hua Wulei could understand him, and opened his mouth to speak, but only uttered

incomprehensible "ah ah ah" sounds. The old man continued kowtowing, clearly in a state of utter despair.

Hua Wulei felt a surge of resentment and disgust towards the kowtowing old man, so he extended his hairy hand and lightly tapped the old man's head

with a single finger. The old man's brains immediately flew out, and he collapsed dead in an instant.

He didn't know that he had already killed five people. The first was a young man he encountered after descending the lonely peak,

who screamed in terror upon seeing him. Hua Wulei found this annoying and simply slapped the man's

head shattering it into a red and white mess, which Hua Wulei found quite pleasing to the eye.

Hua Wulei didn't want to think about how he had killed the others. However, he didn't want to kill the old man

, but the old man was too annoying, constantly kowtowing on the ground.

Hua Wulei looked around and saw that no one was there; many house doors were tightly closed. Without thinking, he turned

and walked into one of the houses.

Hua Wulei stood outside the door, gently pushed it open, and the tightly closed door shattered instantly. Then he went inside.

It was a farmhouse; four people inside were tightly huddled together, trembling incessantly. Hua Wulei was very

puzzled ; why did everyone who saw him act like this?

Hua Wulei looked at the adult couple and the two children, at a loss. He didn't know what he was supposed to do,

but when he saw the coarse cloth clothes worn by the older man, a smile appeared on his lips.

Hua Wulei shouted, but the adult was already trembling with fear and didn't dare look at him. Hua Wulei

smiled and walked over, pulling the man who was squatting on the ground up, only to find that the man was being lifted into the air.

The man screamed, clearly terrified.

Hua Wulei put him down, then took off his clothes and put them on himself. The man finally understood

that the yellow-haired monster wanted clothes, not to kill him.

Hua Wulei put on the man's clothes and stepped out, then realized he was barefoot. He went back and

pointed to his feet. The man understood and immediately took off his shoes and presented them to him with both hands.

Hua Wulei smiled; finally, someone wasn't so bothersome, and he felt a little better. He put on

the man 's shoes, but they felt a little small; his toes poked out. Hua Wulei stepped out and saw snowflakes

swirling in the air. This immediately reminded him of the snowy day he spent on the lonely peak.

He looked left and right, unsure where to go. Although his mother had told him to go to Love Flower Valley to find

Granny Hua Mu, where was Love Flower Valley? Hua Wulei was utterly lost.

"It's him! It's this yellow-haired monster! It just killed the storyteller, Grandpa Zhang!" A voice

rang out in the snow, followed by a dozen people wearing hats who surrounded Hua Wulei.

Hua Wulei was even more puzzled, thinking: What are these people doing? Why are they surrounding me?

What ? Even if I did something wrong, only my mother could scold and beat me, not these people!

Hua Wulei stood still, letting these people surround him.

As these dozen or so people leaped and bound, a dozen thick iron chains were thrown into the air. Hua Wulei looked at these people strangely, thinking:

They're a bit like those rabbits hopping around me on the lonely peak, only bigger.

The dozen or so iron chains instantly landed on Hua Wulei, and then quickly spun around,

binding him with the chains. A smile appeared on Hua Wulei's lips as he looked at these rabbits hopping around him.

He heard one of them shout, "Don't get close to him, drag him away, put him in a cage!"

As soon as the words were spoken, Hua Wulei felt his body being dragged by these people towards a certain place.

Hua Wulei smiled, gently spreading the chains apart with both hands. The rabbits, who were tightly gripping the chains,

immediately scattered and fell to the ground. The dozen or so people looked at each other, their faces filled with terror.

The iron chains binding the blond monster weighed at least ten pounds, and without the monster struggling, they

snapped on their own.

The leader immediately shouted, "Everyone scatter! Kill this monster!"

Hua Wulei was instantly enraged. They had mistaken him for a monster and wanted to kill him! "

How be? I'm a human just like you, only... just a little hairy.

" Hua Wulei mumbled something, but how could these dozen or so people understand him? They only saw him as a blond monster.

These dozen or so people, wielding gleaming long knives, rushed towards Hua Wulei.

A moment later, these dozen or so people showed expressions of extreme terror, because they had clearly seen the blond monster

standing in the middle, but how could he have vanished in an instant?! Of course, they couldn't see him, because Hua Wulei spun at an incredible speed, his body disappearing

like a gust of wind . The leader asked in shock, "Where is the monster? Did we see a ghost?!" These were his last words. Hua Wulei's figure moved like a ghost, hovering above their heads. With a series of palm strikes, the heads remained, but were all deflated, their red and white brain matter spurting out, a striking contrast against the snowflakes. Hua Wulei landed, his palms retracting, instantly crushing the dozen or so long knives on the ground into a ball that rolled to the ground. Then, he began to trace the feet of the men lying on the ground. Feeling that one man 's dead man's shoes fit him somewhat, he took them off and put them on. "Hmm, just right," Hua Wulei thought with a smug smile. These dozen or so "rabbits" were constables from the county government. Poor constables, from the encirclement to their deaths, less than half an hour had passed. One of the constables was from Niujia Village. An old woman ran out crying, throwing herself on her son and wailing . Hua Wulei looked on blankly, and the image of his own mother appeared before him. "Hmph, my mother is much prettier than this," Hua Wulei thought to himself. The old woman wailed for a while, then rose and charged at Hua Wulei, crying, "You heartless beast! You killed my only son! How am I supposed to live now?" Hua Wulei raised his hand, about to strike the old woman. But his hand stopped in mid-air. He remembered his mother's words: Never kill women and children! This was Sun Yueying's instruction to Hua Wulei before he descended the lonely peak. The old woman, her heart already broken, saw that the yellow-haired monster before her hadn't attacked, and felt that this beast still possessed some humanity. Unconsciously, Hua Wulei uttered a single word: "Mother!" The word was clear, understood by anyone! The old woman was stunned by this "Mother." She had always thought this yellow-haired monster was a beast, but she never expected it to speak, to call someone "Mother." This meant it was human, just like her! Hearing Hua Wulei call out "Mother," the old woman was no longer afraid. Instead, she stood up shakily and extended her hands to Hua Wulei. Hua Wulei instinctively grasped them, and the old woman saw tears welling up in his eyes. Hua Wulei was thinking of Sun Yueying, his own mother. So, he couldn't help but shed tears . However, this originally heartwarming scene could awaken Hua Wulei's conscience, but then several constables wielding long knives attacked. The old woman saw that the blond-haired man holding her hands shone with hatred in his eyes. The old woman really didn't want to see innocent people die, and hurriedly cried out, "Stop! He's a person! He's a person! Don't come any closer!" Hua Wulei understood these words; his mother often spoke to him in this way. So, although Hua Wulei's eyes were filled with a fierce light, and his reddish-brown pupils were quite frightening, he did not move . The constables didn't believe the old woman's words and continued to surround her step by step. The old woman panicked and cried out, " Stop! He's a human!" One of the constables laughed, "Is this beast your son? Why are you protecting him like this?" The old woman immediately stamped her feet and burst into tears! Hua Wulei's bestial nature erupted again, but he still respected the old woman. He gently lifted her up with both hands and carried her towards the outer edge of the surrounding crowd. The old woman screamed in terror in mid-air, but landed unharmed . She immediately understood that the blond-haired man had carried her out to avoid hurting her. The moment the old woman hit the ground, the constables raised their long knives and rushed towards Hua Wulei. Hua Wulei smiled, and with a quick movement of his arms, he pulled them back to his chest. The constables were horrified to see that they could no longer hold their long knives and instead ran towards the blond-haired monster. Hua Wulei brandished his hands, and the longswords instantly turned into iron balls. Several constables were so frightened that they took several steps back and scattered like birds and beasts. How could Hua Wulei tolerate these vicious people? —Anyone who wants to kill you is a bad person , and you can intercept and kill them! Hua Wulei remembered his mother's instructions, so he roared and spun around rapidly. Some of the poor constables were cut in two, and others had their heads turned into bloody ladles. The old woman looked at the horrific scene before her, vomited a mouthful of filth, and then collapsed to the ground, pounding the ground with her hands and wailing again. Hua Wulei went over, bent down and helped the old woman up. The old woman trembled all over, tears streaming down her face. Hua Wulei said, "Mother!" He couldn't finish the sentence. What he really meant was, "Mother, I'm hungry!" The old woman looked at him in horror, but Hua Wulei's eyes were gentle. In front of his mother, in front of , he always had this look in his eyes. Upon hearing "mother," the old woman was once again convinced that the blond-haired monster before her was a human, a living, breathing human. She responded with an "Ah," waiting for Hua Wulei to continue. However, Hua Wulei could only utter this one ; he couldn't express the rest. He could only point to his mouth and then touch his stomach. The old woman understood; the blond-haired man was hungry. She took Hua Wulei's hand and they walked slowly down the street. She wanted to take him home and cook for him. The old woman's heart softened at the blond-haired man's call of "mother," and she felt pity for him. She thought to herself: This world is chaotic and all sorts of strange things happen. This blond-haired man must have suffered a great calamity to be in this state. Alas, my poor son , you've become a wronged ghost! When they arrived at the old woman's house, Hua Wulei saw a water vat beside the earthen courtyard. His face lit up with joy, and he ran over, shoved his head into it, and drank his fill.

The old woman walked shakily into the inner room, took out several large flatbreads and some pickled vegetables from an earthenware pot, and said, "

Eat , eat your fill. I know you're not a monster, nor an animal, you're a human!"

Hua Wulei nodded vigorously, then took the flatbreads and ate them in large mouthfuls.

He grabbed handfuls of the pickled vegetables from the earthenware pot and stuffed them into his mouth, chewing them.

After wolfing down his food, Hua Wulei felt much better and

looked at the old woman with the gentle gaze usually reserved for those on lonely peaks.

The old woman muttered to herself, "Child, stay home and don't go out. I'll teach you to speak, and then I'll

cut off your yellow hair, and no one will attack you anymore."

Hua Wulei nodded and groaned, finally only able to call out, "Mother, Mother, Mother!"

The old woman responded with soft "Ah, Mother," and tears welled up in her eyes as she thought of her only son whom she had killed.

After eating and drinking his fill, Hua Wulei felt sleepy and lay down on the ground. For many days, Hua Wulei

had lived like this: when hungry, he would catch chickens in the village and tear them apart alive; occasionally, if he saw

fruit on a tree, he would leap up and pick it. But these fruits weren't as tasty as those on the lonely peak, so he could only catch chickens

in the village . When thirsty, he would drink from the river beside the village; when tired, he would lie down wherever he was.

One day, Hua Wulei was drinking from the river beside the village when he was discovered by the villagers. Seeing his long,

yellow hair, they screamed and ran back into the village.

The villagers, remembering that their chickens often disappeared in the middle of the night, thought it was because of this monster and

reported it to the county government. The county government then sent constables to capture him.

The yellow-haired monster easily killed more than ten strong constables from the county government. This news spread like wildfire,

and rumors began to circulate. The county government was also in a panic and hurriedly reported to its superiors.

The news spread, but it reached the ears of one man who had come to Niujia Village specifically to find

an old friend. This man was dressed in Taoist robes, carried a long sword on his back, and had a kind face; he appeared to be a cultivator.

He was from Wudang Mountain, named Chunyangzi, and known as "Ziyang Zhenren." Hearing such a miraculous story,

Chunyangzi naturally wanted to investigate. He asked an old woman walking through the village, who laughed and said, "That's

nonsense. He's not some yellow-haired monster, nor is he any beast; he's just like you and me!"

Chunyangzi was even more astonished and clasped his hands in a respectful bow, saying, "Please tell me more, old lady."

The old woman smiled and said, "No need to say anything, just follow me." She then walked ahead, and Chunyangzi

followed her to her house. Sure enough, he saw a person covered in long yellow hair lying asleep on the ground in the courtyard.

The old woman chuckled, "That is him."

Chunyangzi smiled, stroked his beard, nodded, and stood quietly watching the sleeping Hua Wulei.

The old woman was about to speak when Chunyangzi waved his hand to stop her, and she fell silent.

After watching for a while, Chunyangzi sat cross-legged, waiting for Hua Wulei to wake up. As the sun slowly set,

Chunyangzi saw the blond-haired man before him slowly sit up. Seeing him sitting to the side, the man quickly got up and

stared at .

Chunyangzi smiled slightly, gently patted the ground with his right palm, and his cross-legged body

floated . Then he stretched out his legs and slowly stood up.

Hua Wulei smiled, approached, and looked at Chunyangzi. Chunyangzi saw that the blond-haired

monster was indeed human, not the monster of legend.

Chunyangzi bowed and said, "I am Chunyangzi of Wudang Mountain. May I ask where you come from?"

Hua Wulei didn't understand such refined language and remained silent.

Chunyangzi found it strange, because any martial artist who heard his name would return the greeting with

respect, but this blond-haired man seemed completely unmoved.

The old woman was already cooking inside, the aroma of rice wafting through the air, making Hua Wulei

feel hungry again.

Seeing Hua Wulei's lack of reaction, Chunyangzi, wanting to test his martial arts, asked, "

Young hero , what skills do you know?"

Hua Wulei remained silent, staring at Chunyangzi. Chunyangzi, without further ado, thrust his palms forward,

a gust of wind immediately rushing towards Hua Wulei's face. Hua Wulei instinctively raised his palms to meet the attack, instantly feeling an

invisible pressure like a small mountain bearing down on him. His primal instincts were unleashed in that instant. Hua Wulei

screamed, forcefully pushing his palms forward, startling Chunyangzi!

This skill, lost to the martial arts world for decades, is said to have been created by Master Miao and is called the Dragon Soaring Skill.

Chunyangzi regretted his actions; the Dragon Soaring Skill was like a tidal wave, likely destroying the old woman's house.

In a flash, Chunyangzi abruptly withdrew his palms, sliding backward to dodge Hua Wulei

's Dragon Soaring Skill. Once unleashed, the Dragon Soaring Skill was unstoppable; instantly, the old woman's house collapsed, burying her inside

while she cooked.

Seeing the old woman trapped, Hua Wulei panicked, abandoning Chunyangzi and rushing into the house.

Chunyangzi was astonished to see the collapsed rubble scattering to both sides as the blond-haired man moved.

Hua Wulei carried out the dying old woman, and Chunyangzi saw tears welling in the blond-haired man's eyes.

The old woman smiled sadly, "Child, your kung fu is too powerful. A vicious person will come to kill you in the future. This Taoist priest

is a good man, so go with him. Don't fight anymore, and don't kill anymore, child!"

Hua Wulei howled and nodded, watching as the old woman closed her eyes.

Chunyangzi was filled with regret. His test had caused the death of this innocent old woman; it was a sin.

Chunyangzi raised one palm and bowed to the old woman.

Then, looking at Hua Wulei, he said, "Come with me, don't stay here."

A murderous glint appeared in Hua Wulei's eyes, forcing Chunyangzi to take a step back.

After , he put down the old woman's body, slowly walked to Chunyangzi, and then lowered his eyelids.

Chunyangzi understood; he was willing to go with him and no longer wanted to fight.
