Chapter 1 First Encounter

"Ah..."

I yawned and sat up in bed, realizing it was almost dark outside. I was a little hungry, so

I got out of bed and decided to go to the tavern for a hearty meal. Although the tavern was simple, the landlady was an excellent

were merely decorative… I stopped to see what was going on.

"What are you doing?"

a young woman asked. Her long ears indicated she wasn't human, but the moon was

"Hmph… the competition is about to begin… I thought we'd only bet a little and watch the fun, but we've

The leader of the group spoke, moving closer to the woman. She drew a dagger from her waist and

swung it fiercely. The leader was startled and stumbled back. I initially intended to help, but

seeing the woman draw her weapon, I hesitated. My master always taught me not to interfere in other people's battles. The others around me

jeered and laughed.

I punched another guy in the stomach, using only a fraction of my strength, and tears were already streaming down his face. The

leader then realized he'd run into a tough opponent and quickly shouted.

After leaving the mountains, I learned that slaves existed in the world, and this woman must be one of the unfortunate ones

Ironically, I kept calling her "this lady," which was obviously a distant way of addressing her, but the leader knew he

couldn't me, so he forced a smile and said, "Sorry, sorry, we didn't know this was your

merchandise. We apologize for disturbing you."

My master told me to avoid trouble when I was out, and not to come home if I messed up. He wanted to have a peaceful old age... so I just

casually agreed.

"Oh."

The leader was taken aback at first, not expecting me to agree so readily. He then said "Okay, okay" and told his

men run away quickly. The woman stood there stunned for a while before suddenly calling out to me.

"How could they get away! Arrest them and take them to the police station!"

It's so rude of them not even to say thank you. I ignored her and turned to walk towards the tavern. I hadn't eaten yet, and I was already using up

my energy. Seeing that I didn't intend to eat and was heading straight for the tavern, she followed closely behind. After a few steps, she spoke again.

"Are you also here to participate in the hunting competition?"

"A hunting competition? Are there really rare bosses around here?"

She paused for a moment after hearing my question, then said,

"You don't know? Then what are you doing in Katheran?"

"I was passing through and saw that it was quiet and peaceful, so I stayed here for a few more days. I just came down from the mountains not long ago, so I don't

know much. What's this hunting competition you mentioned?"

She gave me a brief introduction to the hunting competition on the way, leaving me bewildered.
