Chapter One: A Sudden Change is a Turning Point in Life

Women are like God, they can have whatever they want.

Joanna, like all 15-year-old French girls, is fair-skinned, beautiful, pure, and devout.

If we had to describe her beauty and purity, we could think of it this way: In Saint-Tóral Abbey,
there are 25 young women (13-18 years old), many of whom are already engaged to nobles;
then, we can assume that one day, the great God suddenly wants to choose one of them to be his
preacher on earth, and that favorite would undoubtedly be Joanna Duval.
