Prologue

Western Han Dynasty

Since

ancient times, Jiangnan has been a place of beautiful scenery and abundant resources, a veritable

paradise on earth. Many wealthy families lived in Jiangnan, but only the Piaoyue Manor on Longhai Mountain in the eastern suburbs of the city

was renowned for its immense wealth, a fact shrouded in legend. Today, a strange event occurred in the usually peaceful Piaoyue Manor. No one could have imagined that this event would have such a profound impact on the future of Piaoyue Manor. Enchanting Lady 1 Your spirited eyes quietly entered my heart, stirring up long-dormant emotions within me . Chapter One The architecture of Piaoyue Manor was quite exquisite , magnificent and grand. Within the manor were the Wanjin Garden, the Yutang Hall, the Shanglin Residence, and four gardens for plum blossoms, orchids, bamboo, and chrysanthemums. The buildings were connected by long corridors, and the pillars, walls, and carved towers were adorned with fine copper lacquer. This ambition stemmed not only from the Leng family's desire to demonstrate the immense wealth of Piaoyue Manor, but also from the fact that successive generations of the Leng family had hoped their descendants could live in this imperial residence and lead a life akin to that of royalty. The Leng family had always maintained a single-lineage succession, and the current Leng Lingyue was known as the "Jade-Faced Emperor," holding a formidable position in the business world. Juyuan Garden, the residence of the Leng matriarch Lin Xiujuan, was considered one of the quieter courtyards of Piaoyue Manor. Although it was late at night, it was still brightly lit. Earlier, on her way back to the manor after worshipping Buddha, she had rescued a beautiful woman dressed in strange attire. Looking at the unconscious woman on the bed, Xiujuan asked the doctor who was examining her, "Doctor! How is the child?" "Reporting to the old lady, this young lady is fine. She was just a little frightened and will need some rest. I'll also prescribe some calming and invigorating medicine for her to take after each meal." "That's good, that's good!" Leng Lingyue's aunt, Leng Wenyue, said happily. "Xiaolian, see the doctor out and give him a generous reward. Also, send someone to get the medicine." Xiujuan instructed , then reminded her, "By the way, don't disturb anyone, especially the master of the manor, understand?" "Xiaolian understands." After the doctor left with the maid, the two old women gathered around the bed and commented on the unconscious woman. So noisy! In her sleep, Shangguan Zilan seemed to hear someone chattering in her ear. She tried to open her eyes, but was startled by the sudden approach of the two women and screamed. "Ah—" She was not only startled by them, but also surprised by their attire. Ancient costumes?! Ancient people?! She kept looking around. Why were they all from ancient times? Was she still dreaming? Or was she already...dead?! Thinking of this, she quickly pinched her cheek hard. "Ouch! That hurts!" Her sudden strange action surprised Xiujuan, who quickly grabbed Zilan's hand and said, " What are you doing? Why are you pinching yourself?" "Could she be feeling unwell?" Wenyue asked with concern. "Really? Take a look!" As they examined her, Zilan noticed that she had been changed into a pink, long-sleeved dress. "Wait a minute, I'm fine." She quickly stopped them. "Really? If you're feeling unwell, you must tell us!" "Yes!" Zilan looked at them suspiciously. Why were they dressed like this? How strange! Where was she? And who were they? She was about to speak when one of the women interrupted her. The woman who spoke was Leng Wenyue, the second young lady of the Leng family. Since her husband's death, she had returned to her parents' home and lived with her sister-in-law; the two had a very close relationship. "Look how pretty she is, with such delicate skin and tender flesh, truly a jade-carved beauty! Sister-in-law, don't you think so? " Wenyue turned to her sister-in-law and said. Xiujuan smiled and nodded, saying, "Yes! Her voice is as melodious as a nightingale's song, so beautiful!" Hearing the two praising her so much, Zilan felt strange and embarrassed. "Especially those big, bright eyes, they seem to speak. If my little Yu'er hadn't died young, she would surely have been such a graceful little beauty… Waaah… My poor little Yu'er!" As she spoke she suddenly burst into tears. Her sudden change in emotion caught Zilan off guard; she could only stare helplessly at them, completely bewildered. "Sister-in-law, don't be sad! It's all in the past, don't think about it anymore, otherwise you'll cry yourself sick again... Waaah..." The two women ended up hugging each other, sobbing uncontrollably. Their makeup was ruined from crying, making Zilan want to laugh but dare not, thinking they must have something very sad to be crying so miserably. She wanted to wait until they calmed down before asking, but after a long time, they still couldn't stop crying, so she had to speak up, "Excuse me, may I ask your names, ladies? And where is this place? Also, are we filming a period drama?" Zilan couldn't help but interrupt the two heartbroken women. Hearing this, the younger woman patted her head and said gently, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid! My name is Leng Wenyue. Before I got married, I was the second young lady of the Leng family. This is my sister-in-law, Lin Xiujuan, the matriarch of the Leng family. You are at Piaoyue Manor now. By the way! Little girl, how did you end up fainting on the edge of the cliff?" "Me? Fainted?! I fainted?!" Zilan asked in surprise. She had never fainted before. "Yes! Luckily, after we went to offer incense, we passed a cliff on our way back to the manor and found you lying there unconscious, so we rescued you." Wenyue nodded. "Yes! Look how beautiful you are, it would be terrible if you encountered bad people." After saying this, Xiujuan sat down next to Zilan and reached out to hold her, clearly very fond of her.

Zilan was still completely bewildered, but knowing that the two women had saved her, she

genuinely liked them.

They felt like the kind of aunties next door who had always cared for and

looked after her, but who had passed away from liver cancer two years ago, leaving her heartbroken.

"I don't know if I fainted, I only know… I got into the mountains, encountered an earthquake and landslide, and

fell into a valley. When I woke up, I saw you… Are you alright? Huh! Why are you looking at me like that?"

Zilan looked at their sympathetic expressions with some surprise. Before she could react, Xiujuan

hugged .

"Poor little girl, you must have been terrified!"

Zilan felt maternal love in Xiujuan's warm and fragrant embrace.

"By the way! What's your name? Where do you live? Where are your parents?" Wenyue asked gently.

"My name is Shangguan Zilan, I live in Taipei. My father is in America, and my mother has passed away."

As soon as she finished speaking, she saw the two women exchange a strange glance.

"What's wrong?" Zilan asked in surprise.

"Say it again!" Wenyue and Xiujuan said in unison.

"My name is Shangguan Zilan, I live in Taipei, my father is in America, and my mother has passed away..."

Before she could finish speaking, Zilan was hugged tightly by Xiujuan, so tightly that she could hardly breathe.

"Oh! Poor little girl, you must have hurt your head to be talking nonsense like this, saying such strange

things as Taipei, America, and that this is Jiangnan, and that you are currently at Piaoyue Villa." Xiujuan

said sympathetically .

"Jiangnan?! Is it in mainland China? Can you tell me who your president is? Our new

president is Chen Shui-bian." Zilan couldn't help but joke.

"President?! I can't understand what you're saying." Wenyue chuckled.

"Poor little girl, it seems you really hurt your head." Xiujuan couldn't help but feel like crying again.

Wen Yue nodded seriously. "That Doctor Zhang is a complete quack. It seems we need to find

a more renowned doctor to take a look."

"Aunties, I'm fine, but I think you're getting a little too caught up in the drama... Ah! Those people

are..."

When Zi Lan saw the furnishings in the room and the servants dressed in ancient costumes, she began to feel strange.

"They're servants from the manor!" Wen Yue said.

"Servants?!"

Zi Lan's smile instantly froze. Looking at their sympathetic gazes, she began to wonder if

she was going crazy.

She tried to recall carefully. She remembered that she, Mo Yun, and Chu Lian went to the mountains to help the lonely elderly. They were doing volunteer work

when suddenly the earth shook violently, like an earthquake. The ground split in two with a loud bang, and the three of them fell

down from the crack...

Could it be that this fall took them into a time tunnel and brought them to ancient times?!

Is this... real? Zi Lan touched her burning face with both hands, thinking in astonishment.

Good heavens! She actually encountered a plot from a novel!

Zilan felt her mind go blank, unsure of what to say, and could only look at the two worried women.

"Little one, are you really alright?" Wenyue asked with concern.

Zilan gently shook her head, then nodded, then shook her head again.

"I think we should ask someone to find that Doctor Hua in the north of the city!" Xiujuan said, turning to leave.

Zilan quickly grabbed her sleeve, saying, "I'm alright, no! You should be alright... but I...

I feel like something's wrong, yet I feel like nothing's wrong... I don't know if this counts as..." dying?

Thinking of never seeing her family and friends again, Zilan's tears fell like broken pearls

.

"Oh dear! Why are you crying if nothing's wrong?"

Zilan's tears startled Xiujuan and Wenyue, who quickly took handkerchiefs to wipe her tears, patting her shoulder and

comforting her gently.

"It's alright, tell us what's wrong!" Xiujuan comforted her tenderly.

"How pitiful I am! I went up the mountain to do volunteer work, not to do anything bad. I submitted my reports on time and even

bought lunchboxes for stray dogs. My dad had to leave me alone when he went to work in America, but I bravely

faced the darkness alone. I've never hurt anyone. I even broke my piggy bank

to donate money to the victims after the 921 earthquake. I was a good friend at school and never caused trouble. When my dad remarried, I even wished

them a long and happy life together. But my mother died. I long for a mother who loves and cares for me. I miss my

biological mother so much. She died not long after I was born. I don't even know what she looked like. I can only look at her

photos . Every Mother's Day, I make carnations. I never thought I'd end up in this strange place..." After talking

for a long time, Zilan realized that her words were too modern. Seeing that the other person was stunned, she had to

repeat herself , but this time she used more literary language, changing "Dad and Mom" to "Father and Mother."

"By the way, have you seen my other two good friends?"

Xiujuan and Wenyue both shook their heads upon hearing this.

"Could they be dead? But I'm fine! They should be fine too, but it's hard to say

... Maybe I'll never see them again... Oh God! What can I do? I can't go back..."

Wenyue and Xiujuan exchanged glances, unsure of what to do.

Zilan looked at them with her red and swollen eyes from crying, and asked softly, "Do you think I'm being long

-winded?"

She sobbed and rambled on, expecting them to find her crybaby and long-winded like Moyun and Chulian,

but to her surprise, they both covered their faces with handkerchiefs and started crying at the same time.

"No, we just feel sorry for your background!" Wenyue said with heartache.

"That's right! Your father remarried, and you must have been framed by your stepmother to fall off the cliff. How tragic!

How could she do this to such a well-behaved and adorable little girl? If you were my Xiaoyu'er, I would cherish you rotten and never

let you suffer any harm or hardship. Wenyue! Look at her! Her stepmother dressed her in such

strange clothes. It's outrageous!"

Xiujuan was shocked when she saw Zilan's jeans, camisole, and white jacket.

The ripped jeans further convinced her that Zilan had been abused by her stepmother.

"Yes! I've been wondering why she's wearing men's tattered pants for so long, it's so pitiful! Sister-in-law, since she

has a home can't go back to anyway, didn't you say her eyes look a lot like Yu'er's? I think you should adopt her as your goddaughter!" Wen Yue suggested

.

"Goddaughter?!" Zi Lan looked at them in surprise.

"Okay! It's decided then." Xiu Juan held Zi Lan's hands tightly. "Zi Lan, you should stay

! I won't mistreat you. Come! Call me Mother!"

Xiu Juan's eyes were filled with kind and tender tears.

"But..." Zi Lan stammered. Wasn't it too fast? She had only just met them, and hadn't even exchanged

a few words, and yet...

an indescribable feeling of gratitude welled up in Zi Lan's heart.

"Why are you all so kind to me? I'm just a stranger to you." Zi Lan said, her voice

choked emotion.

"Silly girl, this is what you call fate! Otherwise, how could it be that we two happened to save you on our way back from pilgrimage?

We, as sisters-in-law, usually never leave the house," Wen Yue explained to Zi Lan.

"Yes, yes! Today, I went to the temple to draw lots, and the poem indicated that I would meet a mysterious woman who would

fulfill my wish. That means you! I've always wanted a daughter, someone I could cherish."

Xiu Juan tenderly stroked Zi Lan's soft, black hair, growing more and more fond of her with each passing moment.

Zi Lan was deeply moved, especially by Old Madam Leng's gaze, which reminded her of her deceased mother. So, she

excitedly hugged Old Madam Leng and called out, "Mother!"

"Good girl! My precious daughter!" Xiu Juan said happily.

"Then you must call me Auntie too," Wen Yue added excitedly.

"Auntie," Zi Lan called out happily, hugging Wen Yue tightly.

"That's wonderful, sister-in-law! Your long-cherished wish has finally come true!"

"Yes! That's wonderful! I have a daughter now."

The room was filled with the sounds of three women laughing and crying, all deeply moved by their precious connection.

And so, Zilan traveled from modern times to ancient times, becoming the eldest daughter of the Leng family, the richest family in Jiangnan.

Not long after getting up, Zilan was led by her maid to an elegant and quiet room. Seeing the mountain of

beautiful clothes piled on the bed and the boxes of jewelry on the table, she realized they were going to give her a makeover.

"By the way! Zilan, you haven't met your eldest brother yet, have you?" Xiujuan asked as she helped her dress.

Zilan then realized that Piaoyue Manor was the richest family in Jiangnan, so wealthy that with a single command, anything you needed

could .

She thought that just trying on clothes had already taken up the whole morning, let alone matching jewelry. Before,

a pair of jeans and a t-shirt would suffice, but now she was

overwhelmed by these strange and complicated clothes.

"Big brother?! Never seen him before."

Wen Yue, who was helping her choose a hairpin, said, "Don't mention that brat. He's almost thirty and still hasn't

married or had children. Our Leng family has always had a single heir. If he doesn't carry on the Leng family line, I'm afraid the ancestral rites will

end here."

"Not married?! Why?" Zi Lan asked, puzzled.

Xiu Juan sighed and said, "Zi Lan, to be honest, your big brother, my son, isn't

interested in women."

"He's gay... uh, does that mean he only loves men and not women?" Zi Lan's other explanation made them

understand.

"No, no!" Wen Yue shook her head and casually picked up a jade hairpin to put in her hair. "It's because no

woman can attract him."

"Is he frigid?" Zi Lan murmured.

"What?" Xiu Juan looked up in confusion and asked.

"Which normal man isn't attracted to beautiful women?" Besides, men generally enjoy that kind of

thing, otherwise why would Viagra be so popular?

"Yes! But we've searched all the beauties around here, even sent the pretty maids from the manor

to him, and still couldn't win his heart," Wen Yue said helplessly.

"Maybe he's sick," Zi Lan guessed.

"No way! He's perfectly normal, every doctor says there's nothing wrong!" Xiu Juan thought her precious son's

standards were too high.

"Then it might be a heart problem!" Zi Lan said seriously.

"A heart problem?"

Wen Yue and Xiu Juan exclaimed in unison.

Zi Lan smiled and nodded, "That's right! Maybe when he meets his dream girl, he'll turn into a

lecher, and suddenly become enlightened."

"A lecher? Enlightened?"

Xiu Juan and Wen Yue exchanged glances, finding it hard to imagine

what the taciturn, serious Ling Yue would become—a lecher or enlightened.

But if they could get him to conceive, they wouldn't care what he became.

The two women, almost driven mad by their desire for grandchildren, thought helplessly.

Wen Yue quickly changed the subject, saying earnestly, "Oh my! Zi Lan looks like a fairy descended from heaven!"

Xiu Juan and Wen Yue were full of praise for Zi Lan's appearance. A red gauze dress made her flawless white

skin appear even more rosy, and her flushed cheeks and delicate features were captivating.

"I've never worn such beautiful clothes before!" Zi Lan didn't seem to mind the outfit.

However, Wen Yue and Xiu Juan misinterpreted these words as evidence that Zi Lan had been abused by her stepmother, leading to

her suffering. They immediately decided to buy her more clothes and jewelry to cheer her up and soothe

her past pain.

Zi Lan was unaware of their thoughts; she simply felt excited and curious.

Chapter Two: Excitement, over time, can turn into a terrible emotion.

When Zi Lan finally escaped the nightmare of piles of clothes and the two overly enthusiastic women, it was already late.

She breathed a sigh of relief, thinking, "It's finally over!"

Honestly, Zilan felt that her experience was a stroke of good fortune amidst misfortune.

After fate played such a cruel joke on her, she was fortunate to have met her godmother and aunt, who truly

loved her and treated her like their own daughter. It wasn't that she coveted the Leng family's money, but rather that these two kind and gentle women

had fulfilled the maternal love she had lacked since childhood, and she received it twice as much at once, which is why she was willing to stay.

There was only one thing she found very difficult to get used to: the boredom at night.

In this ancient era, there was no television to watch, and no familiar friends to go shopping with;

it was just incredibly boring.

She didn't want to bother her godmother and aunt, so…

Zilan sighed. She was truly worried about Mo Yun and Chu Lian, wondering how they were doing.

If she had inexplicably ended up in the Western Han Dynasty after the earthquake, would Mo Yun and Chu Lian have suffered the same fate?

Ah! She missed Chu Lian and Mo Yun so much! Especially on this boring night, she longed for

the beautiful times when the three of them would talk intimately until dawn.

Now…

stop thinking about it! Shangguan Zilan, even without them, you must bravely face everything. Zilan

told .

She decided to wander around alone, unknowingly passing through many unknown places within the manor.

Having been there for several days, she still didn't quite grasp the size of Piaoyue Manor, but its grandeur and luxury had already

broadened her horizons. The back garden alone contained a frighteningly large lake, along with numerous beautiful artificial hills and

flowing streams , and exotic flowers and plants everywhere. A captivating fragrance wafted in the evening breeze.

"Wonderful!" she exclaimed, taking a deep breath of the fresh, unpolluted air.

Looking around, Zilan came to a garden filled with bamboo. The tall, upright green bamboo,

illuminated by the moonlight, appeared mysterious and dreamlike, like jade, exuding an otherworldly atmosphere.

Curious, she stepped into the bamboo grove, gradually approaching the magnificent and imposing pavilion nestled within.

What a beautiful place! She was mesmerized by the scenery before her.

Besides the bamboo grove, the pavilion was surrounded by a mesmerizing artificial waterfall,

with willows swaying gently in the evening breeze, a truly enchanting sight.

"Being in ancient times isn't bad; you can see so many beautiful sights," Zilan murmured

to herself . Having lost her mother at a young age, sometimes a simple sight or a caring word could bring her happiness and contentment.

"Ah... um... oh..."

What's that sound?!

A strange sound came, and Zilan couldn't help but hold her breath and listen.

It sounded like a woman's moans!

She cautiously approached the house, and when she discovered the source of the sound, she also saw a scene that made her blush

.

No way?! She rubbed her eyes, then opened them wide to look more closely, realizing it wasn't a hallucination.

She stared dumbfounded at the scene before her.

The enchanting moonlight shone on two beautiful women on the green grass in front of the house, completely naked,

swaying their bodies in front of a man, allowing him to freely admire them.

Pole dancers?! An ancient version at that.

She also noticed that the sitting man had very beautiful long hair. Although men in ancient times often had long hair,

if it weren't for his clothing, she would have thought he was a woman, because his hair was even softer, shinier, and more captivating than her carefully

maintained hair.

She really wanted to see what he looked like.

Zilan couldn't see the man's face because he was sitting with his back to her, completely still,

simply watching two voluptuous women perform a seductive dance before him.

She figured he must be drooling and too weak to move, otherwise he would have rushed forward long ago.

Zilan's gaze then shifted to the two beautiful women facing her.

How daring! If she had to dance naked in front of a man like that, she'd be better off performing a

suicide .

Amazing! Zilan couldn't help but admire them, yet her face flushed as she watched the two naked, beautiful

bodies sway

in , their bright red nipples erect, like red plums tempting a man to taste them…

She couldn't help but glance down at her own chest, inwardly complaining that fate was truly unfair.

Just then, a woman lay down, first moaning softly and then writhing her body wantonly. Then,

she slowly spread her long, slender legs, exposing her private parts completely to the man…

Good heavens! Zilan gasped. This was too stimulating! No wonder the man's nose was bleeding! Even

her face felt like it was burning, all the blood rushing to her cheeks.

The woman lying down continued her wanton moans, one hand constantly kneading her full breasts, finally

teasing her nipples with her fingers; her other hand moved between her legs, gently caressing and massaging them.

Zilan was instantly speechless.

No! Shangguan Zilan, this is restricted! Turn back before it's too late!

But as she tried to leave, she saw another woman, who had been swaying seductively in front of the man, squat

down and lick, suck, and gently nibble on the pink nipple of the woman lying on the ground with her small tongue. Her other hand

kneaded and played with the other breast, causing the woman to tremble and moan with pleasure.

This…this…is too hot!

Two women actually…no way!

Zilan couldn't help but cover her face, but her ten fingers were still slightly spread, peeking at

the scene was practically useless.

Even she felt like she was burning up from the sight, but the man remained seated,

without any movement. He was probably too weak to move due to a nosebleed.

An ordinary man would have been unable to resist such a scene; how could he have endured it for so long?

Finally, the man moved. Zilan thought to herself, "He finally couldn't resist such an alluring and

hot scene!

He wants it, doesn't he? That's how men are."

She didn't believe any man in the world could resist!

Just as Zilan was gloating over her correct guess, she heard the man speak coldly.

"Alright! That's enough. You can go back now!"

The two women, who had been writhing together, froze, and Zilan, who was hiding to the side, was equally stunned.

Zilan was utterly astonished. Had she heard correctly?! Or had he gone mad?!

With such beauty before her, he was actually telling them to go back?!

"Master..."

"Go back!"

The cold, stern voice made the two women's faces change drastically, and even made Zilan, who was hiding to the side,

jump up . Without bothering to put on her clothes, the two women grabbed them and hurriedly excused themselves, trembling.

Wow! What a fierce man! But his voice was quite pleasant.

So he was Leng Lingyue, the master of Piaoyue Manor, the busy man who always said he had no time to see his sworn sister,

making her almost think that ancient men were all impolite to women.

Unfortunately, she wasn't an ancient woman, so she didn't care about his neglect; she would only mentally

give this arrogant man a big "X".

Hmph! She really thought he was busy; so this is what he's busy with—what a scoundrel!

Looking around, Zilan felt a little bored and wanted to wander off somewhere else.

Now that the R-rated show was over, she should leave.

Just then, Leng Lingyue made a move, and Zilan immediately dared not move, afraid he would discover she was spying.

Leng Lingyue stood up and walked to the courtyard, sighing silently as he gazed up at the enchanting moon,

lost in thought. Zilan was captivated by his somewhat lonely figure in the moonlight, and couldn't help but

wonder what he was worrying about…

Alas! It was still no use.

Beautiful women before him stirred no desire in him; instead, the more he looked, the more annoyed he became. If it weren't for

his mother and aunt's constant nagging about "of the three unfilial acts, the greatest is to have no descendants,"

he wouldn't be bothered by those women every day.

On quiet nights like this, he could read more of the books he wanted, but their commotion always killed

any interest.

As the master of Piaoyue Manor and the only one in the Leng family to continue the family line, Lingyue had no choice but to obey his mother's wishes and

let those women, found from who-knows-where, seduce him. If someone took a liking to him, the Leng family would have a successor.

But even he himself didn't understand why he felt no desire whatsoever.

From a young age, he had mastered all the martial arts his father had learned, making him strong and healthy. What was wrong with him?

Could it be that he was truly impotent?!

He didn't like men, and of course, he couldn't possibly have homosexual tendencies.

So why was he like this?

Ling Yue gazed at Yue Niang with a puzzled expression, repeatedly asking himself this question. The only answers he received were the gentle

evening breeze and the rustling of bamboo leaves in the wind.

At this moment, a night breeze blew in from another direction, bringing a captivating fragrance that made him unable to resist

looking in the direction the wind was coming from. It was a scent he had never smelled before.

When Zi Lan saw that he was actually looking in her direction, she shrank back slightly. She knew he couldn't see

her because there was a large rock in front of her.

But when he turned his head, she froze.

He was so handsome!

She almost jumped up and shouted that he was her idol.

She hadn't expected a man to be so handsome, yet not feminine at all.

Moonlight illuminated his incomparably handsome face, radiating an aristocratic elegance and nobility.

His shoulder-length black hair was tied back with a black ribbon, further emphasizing his beauty and classical charm.

His dark, mysterious eyes, like the night sky, shone with a chilling light, inspiring a sense of unease.

As he walked towards her, she quickly and quietly scurried away like a mouse hiding from a cat.

Was it just his imagination? Ling Yue wondered.

He scanned his surroundings again, but saw no one, only a captivating fragrance.

He closed his eyes and took another deep breath of that faint, alluring scent, unexpectedly feeling his blood rushing faster than

usual .

In the afternoon, Zi Lan, Wen Yue, and Xiu Juan sat in the pavilion drinking tea.

Wen Yue and Xiu Juan's favorite pastime was sitting in the beautiful back garden, admiring the rockery, flowers, and

lotus pond, enjoying the cool breeze, accompanied by a few plates of delicious pastries, fine tea, and refreshing

lotus seed soup and mung bean soup, chatting away – how delightful!

Wen Yue and Xiu Juan were engrossed in their conversation, while Zi Lan sat quietly without saying a word.

"Zi Lan, what's wrong? You look distracted," Xiu Juan asked with concern.

"Yes! Your eyes are dark, didn't you sleep well?" Wen Yue also asked with concern.

"It's not the familiar surroundings, I just didn't sleep well," Zi Lan forced a sweet smile, pretending nothing was wrong.

Actually, she had a nightmare all night, dreaming that the two women she had secretly seen were embracing, then

three women, then four, five… and finally a whole bunch of women. She woke up terrified and couldn't fall

back asleep.

"It's okay, it'll be better in a few days," Xiu Juan comforted, patting Zi Lan's hand.

"Mm!" Zi Lan picked up her tea and took a sip.

"By the way! Sister-in-law, I heard that Yue'er scolded those two women back last night." Wen Yue shook her head.

"Sigh! I really don't know what to do." Xiu Juan was also at a loss.

"If two don't work, then call a bunch!" Zi Lan blurted out subconsciously, only to find the two women

staring at her with four eyes. "I'm just suggesting, I don't mean any harm." She explained softly.

"No, no, no! You're absolutely right, if one doesn't work, if two don't work, how about ten women?"

Wen Yue said happily.

"It's not bad to try, as long as one of them wins Yue'er's heart, then there's hope for our Leng family to have an heir

." Xiu Juan also chimed in with a smile.

Zi Lan nodded in astonishment. She had just said it casually, but she didn't expect the two old women to take it seriously!

She looked at the two

women .

"Zilan, you're such a good girl, always thinking of your older brother. Alright! We've decided to take your

suggestion . Tonight, we'll find ten women to seduce Yue'er. I don't believe he won't be tempted."

"This… Mother, Aunt, I'm so tired. Can I go get some sleep?" She wanted to leave quickly,

and she was genuinely exhausted.

"Alright! Go and rest."

Zilan got up and left the pavilion. She walked with her head down, but as she turned, she bumped into something and fell to

the ground.

"Ouch! That hurts!"

Her bottom hurt terribly from the fall, and just as she was about to see which clumsy person had caused it, she heard a

voice that startled her.

"Are you alright?"

Ling Yue asked like a high and mighty monarch, turning his head to order his attendants to

help .

Zi Lan kept her head down and covered her face with her sleeve, a strange behavior that piqued his curiosity.

"Raise your head!" he commanded.

"No!" Zi Lan only showed her big eyes, staring at him, "You can't!"

His face darkened, "Why not?"

"Because... I'm very ugly, I'm afraid I'll scare you."

"I've been scared since I was a child, you can't scare me." His stubborn tone made it seem like he was

determined .

"I... have smallpox, it's contagious." As soon as she finished speaking, the two

attendants who turned pale, and although Ling Yue didn't back down like the group of people behind him, his face wasn't much

better.

"Smallpox? Then you shouldn't be wandering around the manor." He said sternly, his face cold.

"Yes! May I leave now?"

He didn't answer, and Zilan took it as tacit consent.

As she hurried past him, Lingyue suddenly caught a faint, sweet fragrance, which startled

him . He turned to call out to her, but she was already gone.

Was he overthinking things? He shook his head, remembering that he had come to see his mother and aunt.

Reaching the pavilion in the back garden, Lingyue called out, "Mother! Aunt!"

"Ah! It's Yue'er! What a coincidence, Zilan was just here. Did you run into her?" Xiujuan

asked her son, whom she was always so proud of. Seeing that he was even more handsome and capable than his father was her

greatest comfort.
