Chapter One: A Chance Encounter on a Flower Boat - Yulan, a Virtuous Woman, Suffers a Struggle Due to Her Excessive Emoluments

. Now, let's talk about Feng Guan, who, upon reading the Japanese poem, found it indeed reasonable. Just as he was admiring it, he saw the boat arrive at Yue Fei's tomb.

Feng Guan went ashore, looked at the tomb, and then went to the Su Causeway. He saw a lake boat with three tables of wine, filled with scholars

, and beside them was a beautiful courtesan. Feng Guan recognized her immediately – it was Yulan. He was startled, fearing he had mistaken her for someone else. He looked

closely saw that the passengers from that boat were coming ashore with the courtesan. Feng Guan ducked aside and looked her over; everything was correct.

He also heard her voice, which sounded exactly like his own. He thought to himself, "This prostitute, you're

having fun here while your husband suffers. I wonder where he lives; I must follow this boat to find out." A moment later, they all

disembarked . Feng Guan followed behind, and the boat stopped in the bay. Feng Guan went forward and saw Wu Ren

come out and take Yulan home, after which the other passengers went inside. Feng Guan, feeling quite confident, went to the Great Buddha Temple and met an elder.

Upon inquiring, the elder explained in detail when Wu Ren had moved there to carry out this matter. Feng Guan

bid farewell to the elder and returned to his lodgings.

The next day, he received a reply and returned to his county to submit it. He then rushed to the prison to see Sun Chang, saying, "It's all right, your wife has been

found ." Sun Chang said, "So Wu Ren abducted her, causing me such suffering." Feng Guan

immediately went to court and vouched for Sun Chang's release. The magistrate issued a warrant for his arrest and sent another warrant to the magistrate of Qiantang County, ordering additional officers to arrest and escort him. Feng Guan, along with

a companion, bid farewell to Sun Chang and headed to Hangzhou. After more than ten days, they arrived. The warrant was issued, and Qiantang County ordered local officials

to assist in the arrest. Two more constables were added, and together they exited through Yongjin Gate, passed Zhaoqing Temple, and went straight to Wanzhong. Just as Yulan

was about to get into the sedan chair, Feng Guan and Zhu Wuren saw her, and the two were so shocked that their faces turned ashen. The servants took out the insignia and

showed it to Wuren, saying, "It's come to this, no need to talk about it anymore, let's have a feast." Everyone sat down, and Yulan went upstairs to collect her silver,

which amounted to over two hundred taels. She gave some loose change to Wuren to pay off his errands, and kept the rest with her. She packed her fine clothes into

two bundles, and gave her belongings to the landlord as rent.

Wuren dismissed the two servants from Qiantang, ordered a small boat, and headed straight for Yongjin Gate

. Yulan sat in the boat, weeping, and composed four lines to bid farewell to West Lake: "Since my first visit to West Lake, I've always felt the beauty of the lake in late autumn.

Today, I part from her with nothing to give, and frequently shed red tears in the clear stream.

" After Yulan left, some people went to the building to watch, sighing endlessly. There were also a few lines inscribed: "The prince planned to meet tomorrow,

bringing wine to invite friends, but you have already invited me."

The wind has died down, the building is empty and quiet; a moment of tranquility has turned to ashes.

Soon they reached the shore, and the group was taken to Qiantang for interrogation. Traveling by day and resting by night, they arrived at their destination, went directly to the yamen, and submitted to the county magistrate,

who had Sun Chang and Yang Lu arrested and brought to trial. First, the magistrate asked Yulan, "How did you end up fleeing to Hangzhou with Wu Ren and doing such a

despicable thing?" Yulan replied, "Grandpa, my husband is so impulsive and unpredictable, I was terrified. Wu Ren

was going to Hangzhou on business, and I lost my mind and went with him. I've already betrayed my husband and

taken all the money and valuables from the house." The magistrate hurriedly asked, "Are you sure you haven't lost anything?" Sun Chang replied, "Not a single thing."

The magistrate said, "That Wu Ren is a servant; he's completed his apprenticeship in five years, no need to mention him. Yulan should be sold by the government, otherwise, she'll

be back in the brothel." Yulan said, "I beg you, Your Honor, to decide how much I should be sold for. I'm willing to redeem myself and become a nun

to live out the rest of my life." The magistrate, wanting to collect his salary, said, "Why don't you find him another wife to settle down with?" Yang Lu said:

"Your Excellency has instructed me." Yulan looked at Yang Lu and said, "How could I possibly recognize you as my uncle? You're falsely accusing my

husband !" Yang Lu said, "Niece, it's no wonder you don't recognize me. I was doing business in the capital when you were five years old, and I

only returned this year." Yulan said, "Tell me, what business did my father do? What was the family background of our three generations? Tell me clearly what

my mother ." Yang Lu couldn't say a word for a moment. The county magistrate was furious: "There are such

shameless scoundrels in the world! He must have heard that Sun Chang's wife is missing, and he's trying to extort money by impersonating a relative, fabricating a story to falsely accuse me." Sun Chang said,

"Your Excellency, he sent someone to mediate, demanding a gift of money from me. I didn't give it to him, and now he's framing me."

The county magistrate drew lots and gave Wu Ren thirty strokes of the cane, and then gave Yang Lu forty more strokes. To find out what happens next, please read the next chapter.

Chapter Two: Sun Chang and His Wife Reunited, The Rich Man Visits the Release Pond

. The county magistrate gave Yang Lu another forty strokes of the cane and ordered him to be imprisoned. He said, “I will report this to the three courts and have

this scoundrel beaten to death to prevent future generations from suffering the same fate. Wu Renfa served five years as a penal servitude at Fuchun Post Station and will be released upon completion of his term. Yulan is willing to become a nun,

so let her be spared from prosecution.” Sun Chang reported, “Although my wife has committed a crime, she has a kind heart in supporting me. Firstly, she did not take a penny, and secondly,

she testified against Yang Lu, every word of which was for my sake. I cannot bear to part with her for now, so I beg Your Honor to make a decision.” The county magistrate said, “Officials

can only sever the bond between husband and wife, not their separation. But this matter is subject to official sale by law. If she is not sent to a nunnery, there is no way to

save her. Let her temporarily enter a nunnery, and then I will report this matter again. At that time, both the law and the sentiment will be exhausted, and there will be no objection.” After

finishing the trial document, he added eight lines about Yulan’s decision to become a nun: Shedding her fine robes for simple clothes, she suffers loneliness and desolation after parting from her love.

She will no longer see the red leaves of West Lake, but will instead plant purple fungus in the Taoist temple.

In the midst of the hustle and bustle, she has no heart to write these eight lines; in the stillness, she ponders deeply.

My soul flies back to Hangzhou in my dreams, lingering by the lake, remembering my friends.

After the verdict was handed down, everyone was driven out, except for Wu Ren, who was granted bail and sent home. He then made his way to his destination. Yulan returned home with Sun Chang,

took out the men's clothes and returned them to Wu Ren, and gave Sun Chang the finest women's clothes. She took out the two hundred taels of silver she had, weighed out fifty

taels, and gave them to Wu Ren, saying, "I'm grateful for your hard work. Go to Fuchun to marry a wife and make

a

living. You must never come back here." She gave the remaining one hundred and fifty taels of silver to Sun Chang, saying, "Although your wife has left you, I'm giving you this silver first. Marrying another good wife to live with requires patience. If you hadn't committed any crimes,

how could bear to leave you?" She took off her gold and silver rings and several pieces of jewelry, giving them all to Sun Chang.

She still had a few taels of loose silver left, and looked at Feng Guandao, saying, "Please trouble Uncle Zhou to find a quiet nunnery for me to use as a vegetarian offering. This will help me

make a living." Seeing his wife's kindness, Sun Chang couldn't bear to part with her and burst into tears. Yulan also cried,

and even Feng Guandao shed tears. He said, “I can’t bear to see you two in such a state. Why not take the silver to

another prefecture or county and do some business? That should be enough to make a living. I’ll sell your jewelry for you; we’ll have three hundred taels of silver. Are you worried about finding business? Once we’re away

from here, who will come to sue you?” Sun Chang said, “That’s excellent. I only ask that you be careful, elder brother.”

He quickly bought

wine and food and invited Feng Guan to eat. The couple rekindled their love. This was also a debt of romance that Yu Lan owed to these people, which Wu Ren repaid, and they resumed their marital bliss. Later, Feng Guan redeemed the silver, and he and Sun Chang opened a

woodworking shop in the south of the city. The couple earned a fortune and had two sons. Sun Chang left the yamen to drink…

Sometimes, he would stop his drunken rampages, and the two families reconciled. Yang Lu was beaten to death by the magistrate.

The scholar mistook Zhangtai Liu for a real woman, little did he know his deception would become reality. Yulan owed a debt of romance, and enjoyed two more springs at West Lake.

One must be wary of those who get drunk and act like turtles.

Now, in Huzhou, there were two wealthy landowners. One was surnamed Zhu, named Zigui, styled Fangqing, in his early twenties. His wife

had died early, leaving him with only one concubine, a woman from Yangzhou named Qiaoniang, twenty-nine years old, with unparalleled beauty.

The other was surnamed Long, named Tiansheng, styled Dading, twenty-one years old. His wife had also died, and while in Nanjing, he had met a

woman named Xiangjie, twenty years old, from Suzhou, whose beauty was, needless to say, exceptional. Their two families lived

next door in a bustling area on the front street. Both men were wealthy landowners, half-literate and half-vulgar, feigning refinement with their hats and caps. They were both

fond of children and had befriended a minor official named Zhang Yang. Zhang Yang was only seventeen years old, but possessed a womanly beauty

that was captivating. He would bring Tian Sheng to their place daily, and the three of them would drink and frolic together, occasionally indulging in

romantic affairs. Tian Sheng also admired his beauty and repeatedly tried to seduce him, but Fang Qing kept a tight rein on him, preventing him from succeeding.

Meanwhile, a new release pond had been built in West Lake, several miles in circumference, with two layers of banks and the pond itself,

quite splendid, comparable to the beauty of the Lake Heart Temple. As a result, beautiful women flocked there, adding to the splendor of the place. Every year on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month,

the day of Buddha's bathing, the entire city's residents would buy all kinds of aquatic creatures and release them into the pond, a change from previous years. Upon learning this, Zhang Yang said to

Fang Qing , "Tomorrow is the eighth day of the fourth lunar month. The release of fish into West Lake is quite interesting. Why don't we

call a boat and go for a ride?" Fang Qing smiled and said, "Sure." She quickly told a servant to go to Yongjin Gate to call a boat and row to Changqiao Bridge to wait for them. Tian Sheng, upon hearing this news, said, "I'll also contribute

some money and

go for a ride." Xiang Jie, knowing this, said to her husband, "I have five qian of silver. I'll buy some snails and the like and go for a ride." Tian Sheng said, "It would be best if you brought Zhu Qiao Niang along." Xiang Jie listened and went to the back garden, knocking

on the side gate. A maid opened the gate. Qiao Niang, hearing that Long Er Niang had arrived, hurried to greet her. Xiang Jie explained the reason, and Qiao

Niang smiled and said, "Thank you for taking me for a ride, Er Niang. I'll also buy some aquatic creatures and do some good deeds." She then invited Xiang Jie to stay for

lunch before leaving shortly after. Qiao Niang told her husband that she knew Long Er Niang had invited her, and that they should all go for a ride together. Fang Qing said,

"Sure."

She didn't want to leave any food and wine overnight. The next day, the sedan chair bearers were summoned, and the sedan chair was carried directly to the Long Bridge. What happened next remains to be seen; please read on for the next

chapter.

Chapter Three: Zhang Yang's Ingenious Plan Leads to a Joyful Reunion; Two Women Mistakenly Believe in Marriage .

A poem reads:

The scenery of ancient Hangzhou has always been renowned, its green mountains and clear waters a place to wander.

A painted boat carries spring away, a beautiful woman, drunk, sits beside the zither. Now, the sedan chair arrived at the Long Bridge, and the people disembarked from the lake boat to meet. Qiao Niang and Xiang Jie sat at one table, while the three men sat

at the other. They rowed the boat to the release pond and looked towards the temple, indeed a grand gathering. On the temple gate was a couplet: "Both vegetarian and meat-eating, relying on the wild game of our mountains. Neither killing nor releasing, letting the pond be vast and the sky high." The five then boarded the boat and went directly to the pavilion in the middle of the lake, where they stayed. Going ashore and climbing the tower, the scenery was truly delightful. Fang Qing glanced at Xiang Jie frequently, stealing glances. Tian Sheng, seeing Qiao Er, exchanged flirtatious glances with every step. The two women understood and, as the sun was setting, hurriedly returned to their original spot. The sedan chair bearers, who were already waiting, took the same route home. From then on, the two families became close, visiting each other without any reservations. However, Tian Sheng wanted to befriend Zhang Yang every day, and Fang Qing was aware of his intentions. One night, Zhang Yang stayed in Fang Qing's study and made love to her. Fang Qing spoke highly of Xiang Jie's beauty, expressing her deep admiration and reluctance to engage in such behavior. Zhang Yang said, "This is not difficult. As the saying goes, 'If you are willing to sacrifice yourself, you will win others.' I guarantee you'll get the hang of it." Fang Qing said, "In the end, it's not about exchanging my concubine for his." Zhang Yang laughed, "Tian Sheng always wants me to do this with him. Because I'm good to you, the matter of getting things done with him only requires me to do it, and then it will be easy to do it." Fang Qing said, "How can it be done with you?" Zhang Yang said, "Old Li, the gatekeeper, is deaf and blind. You can hide at his door beforehand. When I knock on the door, call out to Tian Sheng and say that you've gone to drink somewhere and won't be back at night. I'll go with him to your study to rest. When you see me come in, you should pretend to be Tian Sheng and go straight into the inner room. It's better if there are no lights in the room. If there are lights, just blow them out and get into bed. How could Xiang Jie know it's someone else? You must not make a sound. Once you get the hang of it, it's not too late to tell her slowly." Fangqing laughed, "A good plan, a good plan. But what if something goes wrong and he recognizes her?" Zhang Yang said, "Even if he recognizes her, we're not afraid . She's just a prostitute; we won't take her to heart. She's not a chaste woman. Even if she recognizes us, it'll be a great pleasure." Fangqing said, "In that case, I'll have to lie to Qiaoniang tonight and say that Yue and I rested in the study." Zhang Yang said, "That's not something I can do." After the plan was decided, Fangqing removed her hat and clothes, and at dusk, she went with Zhang Yang to the Long family's gate to sleep. Zhang Yang said, "If there's anything important, go in and tell him." Old Li opened the gate, and after a short while, Tiansheng came out . Fangqing stepped aside, and Zhang Yang pulled Tiansheng to the front and whispered in his ear. Tiansheng was delighted, and Zhang Yang said, "Hurry up and go straight to the study; I'll have Old Li lock the door." Tiansheng entered the Zhu family's gate, and Zhang Yang pushed Fangqing straight into the Long family's house, telling Old Li to close the gate. Fangqing walked all the way to the back and saw a lamp in the room. Upon entering, he saw the bed curtains clearly visible, quickly blew out the lamp, closed the door, and went to sleep. Xiangjie said, "I only said that little thing told you to go out and do that kind of thing, why did you agree to come in?" Fangqing sneered, then grabbed her and began their business. Xiangjie, unaware it was Zigui, quickly parted her bound feet, gently pressed her body against his, and, aligning herself with his manhood, let herself sway freely. Fangqing was overjoyed and exerted himself tenfold, making Xiangjie cry out in pleasure, further arousing his lust; indeed, they were both deeply in love. Soon the passion subsided, and the two embraced, falling into a deep sleep. Until dawn , they went back to the balcony. Just before daybreak, Fangqing got up. Xiangjie said, "It's early, you should sleep." Fangqing whispered, "Come if you need anything." He went straight out of the room, opening doors as he went. Reaching the street, he found his door still closed, so he went elsewhere. The door opened shortly, and Tian Sheng, fearing Fang Qing would return and see him, had already gone home. Afraid of being questioned by Xiang Jie, he went straight to his study to wash and dress. Xiang Jie saw Tian Sheng but said nothing. Tian Sheng was overjoyed. Meanwhile, Fang Qing returned to her study and met Zhang Yang. They recounted the events of the previous night. The two were delighted. From then on, they often secretly carried on their affair , completely unaware of each other 's presence. Later, Tian Sheng and Zhang Yang developed a deep affection for each other. He repeatedly told Zhang Yang how beautiful Qiao Niang was, asking how he could win her over with just one night's sleep. Zhang Yang smiled and said, "It's not difficult. Fang Qing often goes out to rest and doesn't come home. Just wait until she leaves, then you pretend to be Fang Qing and go inside to sleep. When Second Madam asks how you got in, just tell her you were talking to me, and there will be no doubt." Tian Sheng was overjoyed.

The next day, waiting for Fangqing to leave, Tiansheng sneaked into the study. Zhang Yang said, "There's no time to lose, go in now.

If the lamp is off, blow it out before you go to bed." Tiansheng said, "What if Qiaoniang recognizes me and calls out?"

Zhang Yang said, "She's not a very discreet woman. If you go in now, how will she know it's you? Even if something happens,

it's just a friend's concubine, nothing serious. Just go in without worry." Tiansheng followed Zhang Yang's advice, emboldened,

and went inside. When he got to the room, the lamp was still on. He quickly closed the door, blew out the lamp, and took off his clothes. Qiaoniang said, "Congratulations today!

Why did you leave your beloved to sleep in my room?" Tiansheng gave a fake laugh, grabbed her, and kissed her. Qiaoniang

responded with her tongue, and the two made love.

Only in this world could such a scene be captured by the brush of immortals.

Chapter Four: Rape at the Brothel, Xiangjie Refuses to Steal Pleasure .

Tiansheng and Qiaoniang were very happy and fell asleep in each other's arms. At cockcrow, they resumed their rendezvous at Wushan. A short while later

, dawn broke, and Tian Sheng, dressed, went out. He met Zhang Yang, told him everything, and then went home. Fang Qing, however, feared Tian Sheng's

return, and Tian Sheng, fearing to run into Fang Qing, concealed their affair. They believed it was fate, and never acted again. Neither of the two

women knew anything about it.

Unexpectedly, two months passed. Because Fang Qing had fulfilled her vow, she put on a play at home, inviting relatives and friends. Xiang Jie also came to drink, and

the play lasted until late. Halfway through, Xiang Jie went to Qiao Niang's upstairs to relieve herself. Fang Qing, not wanting to go upstairs, walked to the bedside and found Xiang Jie

hadn't yet fastened her trousers. Fang Qing went forward and embraced her, but Xiang Jie resisted fiercely. Fang Qing laughed, "After two months of this, you still

won't ." Xiang Jie said, "Don't talk nonsense. I've nurtured your sense of shame; I won't let you get up. Let me down."

Fang Qing said, "Let her down now, and we'll question her slowly." She helped her dress and went downstairs.

A few days passed unexpectedly. After finishing their chores at home, Tian Sheng was thinking of Qiao Niang, and Fang Qing was thinking of Xiang

Jie . Fang Qing and Xiang Jie secretly slept together again. In the midst of their blissful moment, Fang Qing called out, "My little darling,

how does it feel inside?" Xiang Jie replied, "It's fine, but it's a pity your manhood isn't very hard." Fang Qing said, "If it were hard,

I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to handle it." Then he asked, "Why were you so intimate tonight? Why did you

refuse ?" Xiang Jie was startled and said, "I haven't mentioned this at all. How did my husband know? Could it be

Zhu Fang Qing?" The lamp was still lit. She glanced at him carefully and exclaimed, "You're so bold!

What would happen if you met my husband?" Fang Qing said, "You're still dreaming. Because Tian Sheng is destined to be involved with Zhang Yang, I've been doing this

and that with you since last month, but I haven't mentioned it again, so you haven't suspected anything." Xiang Jie laughed and said: "Such a strange thing,

and now I'm bringing it all up with you." Fangqing asked, "Why?" Xiangjie laughed and said, "Your Lingzheng has also been

impersonated and taken advantage of." Fangqing was furious and said, "Such a strange thing! Unacceptable! I will not let this go!"

Xiangjie laughed and said, "That's unreasonable. I slept with you for two months. Can't your wife do the same? This is your

inhumanity , not his injustice. Who started this first?" Fangqing remained silent and then asked, "How could my wife

sleep with him?"

Xiangjie laughed and said, "Right now, Tian Sheng is also hating you in your house. This is retribution. What are you still angry about

?

If you're willing to change next time, we can do it a few times. If not, we can each keep our own and stop." This made

Fangqing laugh and say, "Don't let him get away with it." So they started doing it again. At first, Xiangjie only said it was her husband

and didn't care. But now that she knew it was Fangqing, she naturally showed a charming and seductive side. Fangqing was extremely fond of him and said

, "Sister, I admire you very much. How about we switch places?" Xiangjie said, "You deserve to die! You

can only do this shameful thing in secret. If others find out, wouldn't you be ashamed to death? Your second mother doesn't even know he's a natural-born woman. When you go

home tomorrow night, explain it to your second mother and see how she feels." Before she finished speaking, it was just getting light. She dressed and left, heading straight

to the study. Upon seeing Zhang Yang, she angrily recounted what had happened.

Zhang Yang laughed, "This is like a novel about reversed marriage. You don't commit adultery with other men's wives, and others don't commit adultery with yours. Your

sister-in-law doesn't know about this yet. If she did, things would get out of hand, and if outsiders found out, it would be bad. It's better to keep it a secret and hide it; that's

the mark of a wise person. If it's publicized, people will laugh at you." Fang Qing said, "It's all your doing, you little brat."

Zhang Yang said, "What does your doing have to do with me?

" Fang Qing went inside without a word. Qiao'er said, "You've finished washing up; don't be so unkempt." Fang Qing

whispered to ." Qiao Niang laughed, "So, the one in bed last night was a dog." Fang Qing said, "I'll tell you tonight." Qiao Niang

was filled with suspicion. She wanted to ask again, but Fang Qing went out again. She thought about it a thousand times, considering the circumstances. She

was lighter than her husband; could she have been robbed? She sighed and lamented until nightfall.

Fangqing and Zhang Yang had dinner and went straight to their room to sleep with Qiaoniang. Qiaoniang hurriedly asked what had happened that morning. Fangqing

told her everything about stealing Xiangjie. Qiaoniang sighed, "Madam, you must have shamed yourself first. Then others will shame you. It

was . You must not repeat the same mistake." Fangqing said, "Xiangjie is a former prostitute, very good at seducing men.

Last night, after I told her the reason, she knew it was me and showed me a lot of affection. I couldn't bear to part with her and had to sleep with her again before she would

stop." Qiaoniang laughed, "If Tiansheng came, I wouldn't be able to change my mind." The couple inevitably had some

affairs .

The next day, it so happened that Long Tiansheng went to a relative's house to celebrate a birthday. Fangqing knew this, so he went to the back garden, opened the back door, and went straight to Xiangjie's

room. Xiangjie saw him and was startled, quickly going to the back, cold room. Fangqing followed him into the room. Xiangjie said,

"This matter can only be done secretly. How can we do it in broad daylight? If the servants see us, will they shout and make us cry out

? How can we hide it? You must never do this again." Fangqing smiled and said, "It's only because I love you that I

had this thought when I saw the sky. I hope you will forgive me." Fangqing looked at Xiangjie carefully and found her to be his beloved. To be

continued .

Chapter 5: Changing Wives to Perform a Play, Two Beauties Reconcile

and Remarry Their Husbands. Now, Fangqing embraced Xiangjie and begged for pleasure. Xiangjie couldn't refuse for a moment, so she pulled down her pants on the chair and started to make love.

Truly, passion arose from her heart, and they became increasingly affectionate. They lasted for two hours before stopping.

Xiangjie got up, fastened her belt, and went outside to wash her hands, saying, "You sit here, I'll go out and come back

to talk ." She went straight to the room to wash her hands. Seeing the maids idly playing in the outer hall, she closed the door behind her and went back into the room, laughing,

"Last night I told Tian Sheng about your situation, and he was helpless, saying it was fate and he could only accept it. But

he couldn't bear to part with Qiao Niang, what could he do? So I teased him, saying, 'How about switching places?' He said that would work, anyway, you..."

Having seen many men, I know he's just a young wife; it'll be a simple affair. I think if he's willing to do this, why should I hesitate? Perhaps I

should explain to Zhang Xiaoguan that he can help arrange the feast, a family gathering, so everyone can have some fun without any taboos? What do

you think?" Fangqing laughed, "It's better to wash my hands of this than to come for nothing. Let's do it your way."

Fangqing and Xiangjie went to the corner gate in the garden. Fangqing pushed the door open, but it was locked. She quickly knocked twice, and Qiaoniang

opened the door Seeing the two of them, she laughed, "That's wonderful! You two are getting along

so well." Xiangjie blushed. Qiaoniang said, "Second Sister is teasing me. We're all equal; what's there to be shy about?" She pulled her

into her room, told the maid to prepare some things, and invited Xiangjie to drink. Fangqing went to the study and told Zhang Yang, who said it

was due to her birth. Zhang Yang said, "Let me settle things between you two." The next

day, Zhang Yang went to Tian Sheng's house and, with sweet words and flattery, persuaded him. Tian Sheng agreed. He then spoke to Fang Qing again

, and both agreed. Each party would contribute two taels of silver to produce a play, without inviting any outsiders, to be displayed in the back

hall. It would be a play about a strange encounter between two capitals, a reversed marriage. From then on, the transaction was clear and transparent.

Unexpectedly , the neighbors, upon hearing of this, laughed and wished for good fortune. They immediately composed a poem, "West River Moon," which reads: "

Brothers for wine and food, husband and wife for firewood and rice. Such a secret and clever exchange is rare in this world, a delightful surprise for a minor prostitute. If a son or daughter is born, who knows

who the father and father will be? The relationship between them is not insignificant, why celebrate with wine and a play?"

The whole of Hangzhou was abuzz with the news. Zhu Long Er... The family felt it was improper, and wanted to move the house but it was inconvenient. They wanted to marry the woman

but couldn't bear to part with her. So they composed four lines of poetry and replied to everyone: "This strange fate is hard to control, who knows the clever scheme behind it?

All because Heaven sent me to repay a debt of love, there is no high or low, no shame."

Later, when people saw his four lines of poetry, they wrote four more:

"Zhang Lang's wife, Li Lang rides, Li's wife becomes Zhang's wife again.

If you are not ashamed, I will laugh, I have never seen anything so strange."

When the Zhu and Long families saw this, they wrote four more lines: "

What's wrong with the two families being on good terms? Why bother with your pen and ink?

If your own children and grandchildren surpass me, how will you reply then? "

From then on, everyone suddenly realized, "Indeed, there are those whose children and grandchildren are useless, and whose wives and children are just keeping men for free. It's not as good as this little

mistress exchange." Among them was Wang Xiao'er, a bachelor and a rogue. One day, he got drunk and said

, "This is a shameless turtle, that's why he does this wife-exchanging thing." "Zigui happened to be going out when he heard the vicious cursing and slapped

him hard. Tiansheng heard it and also came out to help. A group of neighbors came to persuade them to stop, blaming Wang Xiaoer, saying,

'You're so young, you shouldn't have been so quick to defend yourself.' Wang Xiaoer knew he was wrong, and late at night, he jumped into the river and died.

No one knew.

A few days later, the body floated up, and the fishermen pulled it ashore. Everyone recognized it and realized it was Wang Xiaoer who had drowned

. The local headman, seeing his rival, refused to buy firewood to store the body. Just then, the county magistrate came to the riverbank to welcome his superior, and the headman

reported the whole story. The magistrate drew a warrant and arrested all three of them, making them kneel on the ground. The magistrate

said, 'Why did you two indulge your concubines in promiscuity and then beat Wang Xiaoer to death?' Zigui said, 'Your Honor, indulging in promiscuity is

a crime I deserve. Wang Xiaoer insulted me, and I only hit him a few times. He knew he was being disrespectful and drowned himself. What does that have to do with us?' " The old man said, “

If she really did drown herself, why should you pay with your life? Quickly pursue her, burn her alive, and bury her. Zhang Yang, Long Tiansheng, and

Zhu Zigui shall each be given twenty strokes of the cane as punishment for their licentious behavior. The two women, unaware of this, shall not be punished; they shall be allowed to remarry and shall not be allowed to remain. Zhu and

Long shall each marry a proper wife to avoid further disgrace.” "Having made his judgment, he immediately expelled the local people.

Zhu Long and Zhang, the three of them, tiptoed out of the post station and arrived home quickly, having completed their business. They had no choice but to sever their ties,

marrying each of the two women to good men, each taking a wife, and reuniting as husband and wife. One moved to Wu Mountain, the other to Yue River,
