Gu Wangyan [Complete] - 6

    page views:1  Publication date:2023-03-24
In the fifth chapter, the sycophantic man inherits the mantle, seeking only sustenance; the wealthy young master, relying on his power, seeks riches and honor. The

dull old man says:
This chapter depicts Huan E's folly to the fullest extent. Later, he even reaches the status of aspiring to sainthood and sagehood. Why is he initially condemned so harshly and then excessively praised in the end? An ancient saying goes: "Appearances arise from the mind, and appearances perish with the mind." This is an inevitable principle. Just as a person with excellent character, if they only stray into depravity, their appearance will change completely, taking on a vulgar form. Conversely, an extremely ugly person, if they aspire to higher things, will unconsciously develop a kind and gentle demeanor within their ugliness. Huan E's initial condemnation and eventual praise follows the same principle. Initially, he was a foolish and stubborn young master, only knowing how to be arrogant and willful. That kind of dullness naturally intensified day by day, reaching a point of utter ineptitude, almost indistinguishable from a beast. Suddenly, he repents and changes his heart, deliberately striving to be a good person, and his dullness diminishes day by day. Over time, a pure and compassionate heart completely dispelled the dull-witted man. Mencius said, "Even a wicked person, if he fasts and bathes, can still worship God." How much more so for him, who did more than just fast and bathe! Li Yu's *Naihe Tian* (奈何天) contains two apt lines: "People don't say that form is hard to change; if you want to change your appearance, you must first change your heart." This is what it means.

The unworthy teachers in this book are You Xi and Bu Tong. The excellent teachers are Zhen Jiaxun, Guang Dehou, and Liu Taichu. While criticizing You Xi and Bu Tong is certainly harsh, praising the three excellent teachers is also quite generous. Some teachers might see this and angrily say, "What grudge do you hold against the author, that you would curse so harshly?" Haha, you are mistaken. If you learn from those three excellent teachers, you will naturally not utter a single word of criticism. If you were to emulate You Xi and Bu Tong, you would likely curse many people, and it wouldn't just be this book.

Si Fuzhi and Huan E are two extraordinary teacher and student throughout the ages. Once you understand it clearly, you can enter into a humorous collection.

Everyone fears Hou's appearance and nature, except for Huan'e, who was unfortunate enough to encounter him. The old man quipped: "If I encountered him, I would also fear him, not just Huan'e."

Regarding the section on Wu He, don't think the description is excessive. There are many sycophants among officials throughout history.

From Minister Dou, who crowed at dawn in the capital, stroked his beard as a councilor, smelled the fragrance of the Censor's feet, and tasted the bitterness of the Grand Commandant's excrement—aren't they all of the same kind? How much more so Wu He? But I fear there are even those in the world worse than Wu He; if they don't know it, Wu He is not worth condemning.

Yao Guangxiao's evil is universally hated by anyone who knows about the Jingnan Rebellion. This description of his lewdness in a second life further highlights his cruelty in those days. I believe that virtuous people who see this section will only applaud, and certainly not cry foul. Occasionally, such a person might exist, but perhaps not with loyalty and filial piety at heart, like this bald-headed fellow? Even more delightful is the case of Yao Zemin, who, though having an affair with his stepmother and concubine, was actually having an affair with his granddaughter-in-law and concubines, as Yao Guangxiao had an affair with his grandson. Yao Huazhou was the maternal grandson of the Duke of Rongguo, thus he could be called a descendant of a noble family. But his sons, Yumin and Zemin, are foolish; the foolish only think of themselves, while the traitorous ones bring shame to their families today and will later ruin the affairs of the kingdom. Moreover, he has a traitorous grandson, Bu Yiwu, who is also his uncle; their extermination of their clan is fitting.

Monk Wanyuan didn't write about him to show the corruption of the Buddhist order, but used this present monk to condemn the monks of the past. Just as the monks of the future had affairs with their stepmothers and concubines, this present monk has affairs with his beautiful wife and concubines. Every point is pointed, every detail is accurate.

The table of contents reads: "The report now details the beautiful wife's affair with a monk and her nephew." These three words are exquisitely crafted, clearly indicating that Yao Buwu had an affair with Gui Shi. The reason it's not written as "nephew having an affair with his aunt," but rather "aunt having an affair with her nephew," is to avoid revealing Gui Shi's lewdness and the ugly retribution for Yao Zemin's actions.

The phrase "Shengwang's affair with Gui Shi," while vividly depicting Gui Shi's ugliness, also carries a deeper meaning. In short, Yao Zemin's "kidneys" were not strong enough, hence the concubines of Qiu Shi were not his victims; similarly, Yao Buwu and Wanyuan's "kidneys" were not strong enough, hence the maids of Gui Shi were not his victims. His entire family suffered from the effects of their "strong kidneys."

Yao Zemin's affairs with his concubines began with Lian and Liu, two flowers blooming in the sweltering heat, thus their lust was more intense than others. The next story is about Aunt La, whose extreme heat eventually turns to cold, a natural progression of time. By the time of Sister Xue, the coldness has reached its peak. As winter ends and spring returns, Aunt Dan and Sister Shao appear. Finally, the flowers of Gui and Ju are mentioned. After these two blooms, winter will arrive, and all the flowers will be gone. Therefore, the story concludes with these two. Although this book is a novel, the author has profound insights. If you only glance at it, how can you see that even in this section, there is a principle of peeling back and reverting? Do not overlook it.

Su Xin and Yao Buwu commit adultery in the Buddhist hall. Later, she also has an affair with Wan Yuan in the Buddhist hall. It turns out that the Buddhist hall was built for this purpose. How amusing.

This book is a collection of short biographies of each character, with no repetition. The description of the Hou and Huan families is done using a narration method. First, Hou Min is described, then Huan E, then Hou Gongfeng, and then Huan Shi. The arrangement is well done.

Yao Zemin's visit to Qian Gui is merely to embellish Qian Gui's story. It is a concluding detail and should not be taken as the main text.

The description of the women in the Yao family, including Yao Huazhou's concubine, Chu, is a homophone for "rat," implying that rats are the most detestable and repulsive creatures in the world. And she gave birth to a foolish and stupid son, and a cunning and treacherous one. What good would it do to keep them? Therefore, her death is written, making room for Lady Qiu. Her concubines, Dan, Shao, Lian, Liu, Gui, Ju, La, and Xue, and her maids, Yao Tao, Hong Xing, Bi Wu, Cui Zhu, Hong Ye, Ji Guan, Shui Xian, and Tian Zhu, are merely descriptions of the scenery of the four seasons, which are self-evident. As for Lady Qiu, Qiu means hydrangea. A hydrangea is made up of dozens of flowers clustered into a ball, hence it is placed at the head of all flowers. Her later affair with Yao Zemin is a summary of her concubines. Jasmine has an extremely fragrant scent. Jasmine and Xiang'er are both related to the same flower, hence they are both maids of Yao Zemin. Green calyx is a flower. Green plum is a fruit. They are originally the same thing, hence they are both maids of Lady Gui. Lady Gui means osmanthus. Osmanthus is extremely noble and precious. An ancient poem says, "Osmanthus seeds fall in the moon, heavenly fragrance drifts beyond the clouds." Now, it is written in contrast to its unworthiness. When cassia trees reach the north, they don't flower; trees that don't flower are like the ailanthus and oak, and are considered cheap. Therefore, the text describes him having an affair with his nephew and a stable boy, a despicable act. He is even worse than the concubines and maids, and this is used to strongly condemn Yao Zemin. The maids of the Qiu family are named Chunhua and Qiuyue. Chunhua symbolizes the season, referring to hydrangeas and spring flowers. Qiuyue symbolizes their appearance, like the full moon of Mid-Autumn Festival, round and bright. If these details weren't carefully pointed out, the reader would skim through them, failing the author's painstaking effort.

Chapter Five: Flattering and Coercing Petty Men Inherit Their Traditions for Food and Clothing; Wealthy Young Masters Rely on Their Wealth and Power to Seek Riches and Power; Again, a Monk Steals His Stepmother's Body and His Father's Concubine; Now, a Beautiful Wife Steals from a Monk and His Nephew . Speaking of Dai Qian, this young official who came south by boat, what was his name? His given name was Min. His father was originally the Chief Minister of the Nanjing Court of

Imperial Sacrifices , but retired and returned home.

Father and son had been separated for many years. He took leave to return to his hometown in Guangdong Province, bringing his family with him. He had a brother-in-law, a foolish young man who was greedy and arrogant, a man who could bully others with money and oppress others with power. [Alas! Money can bully others, power can oppress others; these two words are heartbreaking.] His name was Huan E, courtesy name Shengzhi, and he lived in Nanjing. He arrived in Nanjing and met with his brother-in-law and sister. Huan E brought his aunt home, and they performed a play and cleaned the house, which need not be described in detail. After staying for several days, they changed boats and set off. Now, let's talk about

Huan E. His father was named Huan Shi, who had passed the imperial examinations and served in various official positions for many years, and was approaching sixty. He first served as the provincial governor of Shaanxi for ten years, then rose to the position of vice minister of the Ministry of Revenue in Nanjing, and was currently the minister of the Ministry of Works in Beijing. Not only did he hold a high-ranking official position, but his family's wealth was also no less than several hundred thousand. They truly had gold in their coffers and grain in their granaries; their wealth and status were among the highest in Nanjing. Later, seeing Wei Zhongxian's power and influence over the emperor, and how all the officials and civil servants treated him as their adopted son, he feared for his own safety and also followed suit, becoming

Wei Zhongxian's adopted son. Wei Zhongxian, because he was Wei Zhongxian's son, who was of high rank and status, naturally favored him even more, [foreshadowing the case of Chen Zhongcan]. Thus, his power and influence were immense, and his reputation intimidated the masses. His wife, Lady Ai, had only one son, Huan'e. Huan'e was born with a rough and unruly nature, an ugly face, and a muddled appearance, like a stubborn rock whose seven orifices had never been carved. Yet his parents cherished him dearly. [No parent in the world would not cherish their child, no matter how foolish, ugly, or stubborn they are; this is the profound kindness of parents, as boundless as the heavens.]

Huan Shi served as the Vice Minister of Revenue in Nanjing, and from a young age, his son was betrothed to the daughter of Hou Min's father, Hou Taichang. This Hou Taichang, named Gong Feng, was from Nanxiong Prefecture in Guangdong, living at the foot of Meiling, [a monkey-like person]. He had passed the imperial examinations twice, and when he first served as the Grand Master of Ceremonies in Nanxiong, [he could be described as a monkey wearing a crown]. They were both officials living in the same household. His wife, Lady Yuan, bore him two sons and a daughter. His eldest son, Hou Min, served as the Vice Minister of the Imperial Stables in Beijing, and his second son, Hou Jie, served as the Vice Minister of the Court of Imperial Stud. [It was quite unusual that he had two sons with the same birthmark.]

His beloved daughter was not particularly attractive; she had a pointed mouth, sunken cheeks, short ears, and a short neck, with red, pockmarked eyes, [a monkey-like face]. Fortunately, she was graceful and slender, [a monkey-like figure]. However, she had a very unruly temper. When she was only seven or eight years old, if someone angered her, she, being too weak to fight back, would grab them and bite them, leaving her wet nurse and maids with a series of bloody bite marks on their hands and arms. [She had the temperament and behavior of a monkey.]

Madam Yuan was nearly sixty, and her daughter was an old maid whom she doted on and spoiled in every way. [Of all things in the world, only a mother monkey loves her child more than the father.] Although Hou Taichang wasn't exactly henpecked, he dared not disobey his wife, [these two sayings are probably universally true.] He often thought, "With my daughter's appearance and temperament, when she grows up, if people knew, what wealthy family would want such a daughter-in-law? She'd be a hot commodity, hard to marry off. It would be better to arrange a marriage for her while I'm still an official; if she turns out to be as wicked as him, they wouldn't be able to back out." He also thought, "With my daughter like this, marrying her to a clever man would not only ruin the man's son, but they would also never live in peace. It would be better to find someone a little simple-minded." [Hou Taichang's thinking was truly a wise method for choosing a son-in-law.] Not only did he desire a good match for his daughter, but he also harbored many virtuous thoughts. The *Jinggan Jing* says, "When a person has good intentions, Heaven will surely grant them." He not only did not harm the man's son, but also helped his daughter achieve her goals, enjoying a lifetime of happiness—all due to this one thought. He and Huan Shi were classmates in the same year and had a close relationship. He often saw Huan E and suddenly thought, "That child is truly a fool. Moreover, his father is of similar age and currently serves as a servant; it's

a perfect match. If the opportunity arises, I must do this and that, and I won't have to worry about him not falling into my trap." He made up his mind. One day, he happened to visit Huan Shi's house and they sat and chatted. It was truly a fortunate coincidence; Huan E was already eight or nine years old and was playing outside when a servant woman of about thirty years old carried him on her back. [The servant woman is mentioned here because she will later teach Huan E.] She was holding a rattle drum. [She hadn't even started school yet, but she already knew how to play the rattle drum; she was truly a child prodigy.] Several maids followed, one carrying a silver plate piled with fruit, another carrying a toy horse with a funny face, and yet another carrying a handkerchief, staying close by and constantly wiping his drool and snot. [It's hilarious. This shape is impossible to depict in a painting.] Upon seeing this, Hou Taichang smiled and said to Huan Shi, [This single word "smile" is perfectly captured. He wanted to say something against his will, hence the inability to suppress his laughter first.]: "I think this nephew is truly kind and blessed; he will have a great future, no less than an old man. I have a young daughter, but I regret that the government office is indifferent, the position is leisurely, and the salary is meager, so I dare not approach her. It would be a pity to lose such a fine son-in-law." The ancients said: No one knows a son better than his father. Did Huan Shi not know his son was a fool? But because he was his only son, he had to dote on him. Besides, the family's wealth and status had already reached their peak; as long as he grew up to be virtuous and produce offspring, ensuring the continuation of the family line, that was enough. He was also worried, wondering which prominent family would be willing to marry their daughter to him, while those of humble status would disdain to be related to him. He had often hesitated over this matter. Now, hearing Hou Taichang's words, he was overjoyed and quickly replied, "Your Excellency is mistaken. My relationship with you has lasted for many years, so why would you say such a thing? Although I know you have a daughter in your household, I fear that you will be returning to your esteemed province in the future, and your wife will be reluctant to let your daughter stay here. Also, our son is too dull to comfort your son-in-law. Although we have the desire to marry her, we dare not speak of it. If Your Excellency would be so kind as to arrange this marriage," he said, bowing deeply, "My wife and I are endlessly grateful." [He had thoughts of deceiving others, and thus he was deceived in return. Is this what is meant by "a man of integrity"? Yet, he was still a good man.] Hou Taichang quickly returned the bow, saying, "Since Your Excellency is so kind as to arrange this important life event for my daughter, it is truly wonderful." The two agreed on the matter. Huan Shi, still fearing something might change later, chose an auspicious date and asked a trusted friend to act as matchmaker, exchanging letters and offering thanks upon the appointed time. He then chose another day to hold a banquet, present betrothal gifts, and only after the engagement was finalized did he feel at ease. Huan Shi thought his son had married into such a good family, little did he know that his future father-in-law was a cunning schemer. [This is a story from the Jin Dynasty, attributed to A Zhi.]

Huan E only hired a tutor when he was thirteen or fourteen years old. The tutor's name was You Xi, courtesy name Hun Gong. [Both his name and courtesy name were excellent; why are there so many like him today?] He had obtained a recommendation from a prominent friend of the Huan family. Huan Shi, firstly out of courtesy, and secondly because he didn't expect his son to achieve fame, but because he was from a prominent family and a family with a scholarly background, how could he not hire a tutor for his son? He wanted a chance to learn and gain recognition, so he hired the tutor regardless of the circumstances.

You Hun Gong was a scholar who had obtained his degree through donation; his talent was far from sufficient for even a minor examination, but he could certainly pass with a high level of learning. [A good scholar.] Upon arriving at the academy, he saw that Huan'e was the son of a wealthy man, and was spoiled rotten. Although he was called a student, he was a beast in human form, utterly devoid of any manners. He was treated like a mere flatterer, with no respect for discipline. Huan'e

could only sit for one or two hours a day, during which he would eat fruit and nap; his reading was merely a pretense. He could teach the three characters "人之初" (the beginning of man) a thousand times, but Huan'e simply wouldn't understand. Even more remarkably, at first, Huan'e would repeat after him. Later, he grew tired of it, and no matter how much he was taught, he would remain silent, only nodding. [When the monk Sheng preached, even a stubborn stone nodded; people considered him an extraordinary monk. You Hun Gong, who managed to get Huan'e to nod, was also considered an extraordinary teacher.] You Hun Gong was at his wit's end, and dared not reprimand him, letting him read or not read as he pleased. Huan'e, being a doting father, saw his son as a ready-made favor, a ready-made official hat; why should he suffer the hardship of studying? The ancients said, "Why must one read books to be considered learned?" Even if he is illiterate, with my wealth and influence, he will be rich and powerful in the future, so I never bother to check. That frivolous old man also had his own idea, saying, "Since his parents aren't strict, why should I make things difficult for him? Besides, I've only been teaching him for a year. As long as my tuition is sufficient, and I have enough to eat and drink every day, I'll be fine. Although I'm a scholar, it's just a title. Besides, I've been working as a witness for others, running errands for the government, paying for carriages, horses, food, and drink for years, and I've long since abandoned my books. If I rush to teach him the *Three Character Classic*, and when I get to the *Four Books*, if the characters are difficult to recognize and I can't teach them immediately, the young master will get away with it. But if someone overhears and it reaches the master's ears, my lucrative teaching position will be in jeopardy. Moreover, there's a five-word secret for teachers these days, none of which can be omitted. Why not follow it?

The first word of that secret is: 'Relax.' Why should I be strict with him? If I offend my student..." He looked at his parents and said the teacher was formidable. His parents, doting on their son, feared they would spoil him and, in a moment of over-discipline, piled up the two "mountain" characters (referring to the characters for "mountain" and "mountain"), making the school look like a lama's hat, all yellow. This was not only useless but harmful. The first thing to follow is the word "relaxed.

" The second thing is two words: "hands up." These two words are brilliant. From ancient times to the present, people, not only teachers, need to dress respectfully to earn the respect of their employers, but even bystanders seeing such a presentable person, would they think he was just trying to get money or food? One must always be respectful and attentive to ensure the school's stability. Otherwise, it's not like being a teacher. Nowadays, people are very short-sighted and too materialistic. If someone is dressed slightly shabbily, even close friends and relatives will only give a half-bow; if someone is dressed extravagantly, people will bow deeply, filled with awe and fear. Respectfully. Moreover, since I hold power in the government, I must dress more formally. Not only will the officials listen to me, but seeing my respectable appearance will attract even more people to seek me out. This neat attire is absolutely essential. I remember a Tang Dynasty poet, whose name I don't recall, once wrote a poem: "

Nowadays, good writing is unnecessary, only a long, fat beard is needed.
And there's another enviable quality: clothes are starched and sturdy. "

If it was like this back then, how much more so today?

The third point, in three words, is: "Don't be too knowledgeable." This simply means that if a teacher is too knowledgeable, he will be embarrassed when encountering a foolish student. Besides, if someone is too knowledgeable, full of wisdom, would they be willing to do shameless things to deceive the school's owner? The school would be in trouble. The school needs to be careful, hence the saying "Don't be knowledgeable." But these three words resonate with me. " The art of flattery is so profound that there's no need to learn it. Even if you took me to the execution ground and tried to teach me, I wouldn't be able to master it. It's clear I'm a natural-born teacher,

like a bald man becoming a monk. The fourth thing is: 'Old Man of Bamboo Slices.' I'm even more adept at these four words. Don't even mention flattery; even if I were asked to lick boils and hemorrhoids, my tongue would stretch longer than anyone else's. Not only that, even if you asked me to taste excrement, I'd have to learn from Goujian.

The fifth thing is: 'Treat the young servants with care.' What's so difficult about that? I'm not just a young servant; I

treat all the uncles in the household—those older than me like brothers, those younger than me like fathers—how could I not win their favor?" Having mastered these secrets, he was so beloved by Huan Shi, Huan E, and their entire family that no one disliked him, and for several years there was no gossip. He taught Huan E to read for three whole years, finishing a single copy of the *Three Character Classic*. After finishing, he reread it, then read it again. He read it for another two years, and still couldn't memorize it completely. [Huan'e studied for five years, yet couldn't memorize the entire Three Character Classic; that's still considered good character. I've seen many people who have studied their whole lives, yet can't even remember the eight characters of filial piety, brotherly love, loyalty, trustworthiness, propriety, righteousness, integrity, and shame. What can be done about them?]

Huan E thought he had read the books countless times and that no other scholar in the world could rival him, so he stopped reading anything else. Even You Hun Gong didn't dare persuade him to read any more. Before long, Huan E was twenty. Although he had grown into a large, fat man, he remained completely oblivious to worldly affairs. [His later happiness, who knows, might not have been due to this.] His father-in-law, Hou Taichang, was old and had no interest in officialdom, so he pleaded illness and returned to his hometown. His daughter was also twenty and urged the Huan family to arrange a marriage. Huan Shi, seeing his son so dull and needing servants for clothes and food, was very anxious about how he could find a wife. [Huan Shi still had the wisdom to understand his son, far surpassing Ma Shiying.] Helpless, he discussed it with his wife, Ai Shi, and decided to name the widowed servant who had raised Huan E since childhood, named Si Fu [a very good name]. She was about forty years old [the same woman who had previously held Huan E until she was nearly thirty]. When Huan'e was eight or nine, he was almost thirty; now Huan'e is twenty, and he is around forty. These seemingly unrelated things are all perfectly matched. He was instructed to be taught the intricate techniques of marriage at night. The servant, firstly, dared not disobey the mistress's orders, and secondly, having taught the young master meant having someone to rely on later. Rather than being a mere wet nurse, it was better to be a truly intimate teacher.

At night, he would go to bed with him, diligently imparting his secrets. At first, when he held him to his belly, he was so frightened he almost cried. Fortunately, the servant patiently guided him, [truly thanks to him]. First, he pulled his hand to touch his vulva, then he manipulated his penis. After a while, it became erect. He was coaxed to hold him to his belly, and he was taught to penetrate. He then held his hips and told him to thrust. At first, he didn't know anything, but after two or three times, he grasped some of it. Everything in the world requires learning, but this matter is something one is born with; there is nothing that cannot be learned. Although Huan'e was foolish, he possessed a remarkably large and long-lasting penis.

His body was like a stubborn rock, yet his lower back dangled like a monk's.

Si Fu, long thirsty for such a thing, would instruct him two or three times every night. Though it was a pretext for personal gain, Si Fu's instruction was undeniably sincere. Within a few days, Huan'e suddenly understood, not only mastering the technique but also becoming adept at it. [A good teacher, not only imparting knowledge orally but also sharing his own experiences, how could he not understand?] Si Fu reported back to his mistress, and only then did Huan Shi feel at ease enough to arrange a marriage for him.

After his marriage, Huan'e would only visit the inn every ten days or so, sitting down briefly before leaving. A year later, Huan Shi was promoted to Minister of Works in Beijing. He resigned from his teaching position and took Huan'e and his wife to the capital. After living there for several years, Huan Shi saw that his son was approaching thirty and thought he was already mature enough. [The word "thought" is apt; what parent doesn't think their son is already mature enough, unaware that others might not see him as mature at all?] He also noticed that his son was more clever than before, and since the family's wealth was gradually increasing, he sent his son and daughter-in-law home to take care of him.

Huan E soon returned home. Having spent several years in the capital with his father, navigating the officialdom, he was completely different from before. His heart was now as sharp as a sword, and his actions as treacherous as a demon. Although his learning hadn't improved at all, his eyes had become larger, his demeanor more dignified, his snobbery more pronounced, and his body more obese. [He was a living portrait of a noble young master.] Although he had learned some refined, half-understood language, his appearance was quite comical. There's a tune, "Xi Jiang Yue," to describe him: "

A round, fat face, a few tufts of curly yellow beard, thick eyebrows, a large nose, and a body like a pig." His eyes were slightly narrowed, his belly empty, and his speech coarse and stilted. He knew nothing of poetry or literature,

yet he wielded his power arbitrarily. His wife, Hou, had been pampered since childhood, her wickedness ingrained, possessing the air of a shrew and the appearance of a treacherous villain. Huan E, a man who feared neither heaven nor his parents, couldn't help but feel a sense of dread upon seeing him. He often thought to himself, "She's just a frail woman; I'm a strong man. I can beat her, I can verbally abuse her—what's there to be afraid of?" With this thought, his courage grew, and he went into the room to test the waters. But the moment he saw Hou, a chill ran down his spine, his heart pounded, and his limbs went limp. [If he couldn't bear to look at her again after getting into bed, things would be bad.] He tried to ask a question, but his throat tightened, and he couldn't even reply. If pressed repeatedly for an answer, his face and neck would turn red before he could finally utter two words: "No, no." This happened several times, and he knew he couldn't be a tough guy, so it was best to avoid him. Fortunately, he had a good set of assets that could still win his favor at night. During the day, he rarely dared to enter, only staying in the outer room. He had nothing to do at home all day, and in his spare time from drinking and eating meat [these were the two main activities of such people]. He would either bully the neighbors, intimidate the kind-hearted, frolic in the opera, or invite people to brothels. [Truly, the essential business of a young nobleman]. As for relatives, friends, elders, and acquaintances, he had no contact with them. There was only one man, named Wu He, whose family had been hangers-on for generations, and he had perfected the art of it. His obsequious smiles, shrugs, and groveled manner [the obsequious smiles, shrugs, and groveled manners were well-known, but the way he groveled was unknown; it was probably something only a member of this hanger-on family could do] were his inheritance, needless to say. He possessed a cleverness that allowed him to read people's minds, and his ability to flatter and fawn was unmatched. A poem, "Xi Jiang Yue," praised him: "

He flatters and fawns like a bamboo sliver, stretching his head and shrinking his neck like a turtle. He feigns a beaming smile, adept at licking sores and sucking boils. Those present only hear praise, and he's always by their side. He's swift as lightning when summoned, unparalleled in his ability to be a hanger

-on." Because of these qualities, Huan E greatly favored him and couldn't bear to be without him for a moment. Although Huan E was a man who disregarded friends and family and was extremely stingy, he got along well with him and often received his financial support and sustenance. A poem, "Chou Nu Er Ling," describes the two of them: "

Flattery and sycophancy are common in the world, what's wrong with them? Even more shameful, today all the officials imitate him. This arrogant and foolish young master, with no worries about food or clothing, schemes for wine and women, and considers poetry and books his enemy."

Huan E's family owned a garden, and his father had commissioned a scholar to name it. The man named it Fei Garden, meaning "lush green bamboos and a refined gentleman." Indeed, the rocks were exquisite, the trees provided shade, the pavilions were varied, and the ponds were winding—a truly magnificent sight. One early summer day, when all the flowers had faded and the lotus leaves were just beginning to unfurl, Fei Garden had a pavilion called Devouring Mosquito Pavilion. Facing the lotus pond, it was surrounded by dozens of pomegranate trees, with towering bamboos in front and behind, and the shade of paulownia trees covering the ground. With windows on all sides, the view stretched endlessly—a truly wonderful and cool place. You ask what Devouring Mosquito Pavilion is? [What is Devouring Mosquito? It's a metaphor for the viciousness of a foolish and stubborn young master.] It's taken from an ancient story about Duke Jing of Qi. It is said that during the hottest days of summer, Duke Jing lay alone, hearing the incessant buzzing of mosquitoes outside his tent. He said, "These white birds are buzzing around; they must be hungry." He opened the tent and let them in, feeding them to their heart's content. This pavilion was his place to escape the summer heat, and the name reflects his carefree spirit. Hence, it was given this beautiful name.

One day, Huan'e sat on a large, cool bed, head bowed, his face filled with shame and fear. Why was he like this? It turned out that Hou had two personal maids, whom he had bought in Beijing and brought with him: one named Jiaohua, the other Nenrui. Nenrui was still young. Jiaohua was fifteen or sixteen, and quite alluring. Her eyes, in particular, were captivating, like pools of autumn water. But even a sidelong glance from her sent a shiver down Huan'e's spine. Jiaohua, having grown up in Beijing, spoke in a soft, delicate voice, her figure graceful and seductive. There was a four-line poem praising her: "

Pear blossom shadow trailing her shoulders, willow branch bending her waist, green silk skirt tied with red gauze.
Though not as noble as the legendary beauty, she possessed a captivating charm."

Huan'e had long coveted her, wanting to win her heart. But fearing Hou, he dared not act rashly. Occasionally, when Hou turned his back, he would glance at her, smile, or utter a suggestive remark, but she would not answer, only glancing sideways, and Huan'e would feel a shiver run through his body. [Hou Shi shuddered at the sight, while Jiao Hua felt a shiver run through her body at just one glance. They looked at each other, and she preferred the shiver to the shiver.] She must have felt that shivering sensation countless times. This girl also had a captivating charm. When Huan E made a funny face at her, she would become serious and unapproachable. But when Huan E dared not provoke her, she would act coquettishly, turning her head away, pinching her neck, biting her lip, glancing sideways, or smiling slightly. [This was the so-called master of seduction.] She had Huan E completely captivated, leaving him breathless and desperate.

That day, Jiao Hua had been helping Hou Shi with her morning routine of washing and dressing. She hurried outside, and Huan E, also heading out, caught a glimpse of her rushing towards the back garden. Huan E quietly followed her to the north window and peeked out. It turned out the girl had suddenly needed to urinate and was standing there in the garden, her white bottom splashing everywhere:

breaking through the green moss, pearls of urine scattered all over the ground.

The sight was incredibly arousing. Just then, Hou Shi came out and saw her immediately. There was a club next to her, so she took it and quietly walked behind Huan E. She patted Huan E's shoulder twice,

and Huan E's tender thighs were just beginning to open through the window when the club reached her shoulder.

Fortunately, Hou was weak and her shoulder bone wasn't broken. She winced in pain and hurriedly dodged. Hou scolded, "Shameless! That girl was urinating, what were you peeping at?" Huan'e rubbed her shoulder, her face flushed, and said, "I... I didn't look at the girl! I just came to see if there were any flowers in the yard, to pick some for you to wear. How can you accuse me like this?" [She deserves a beating. The flowers between the girl's legs may be lovely, but are they something a lady should wear?] Hou glared at her with her red eyes and said, "You were clearly peeping here, and you still dare to talk back. What kind of heart do you have?" She raised her mallet to strike again, but he was so frightened that he ran away, tripped over the threshold, and almost fell, startled again. He went to the Devouring Mosquito Pavilion, sat for a while, feeling both angry and in pain. Seeing the servants standing on both sides, he felt both annoyed and bored, so he ordered wine to be brought. The servants responded, and soon, delicacies from the sea and mountains, rare fruits and delicacies, were laid out on the table. A servant brought a purple-gold cup with a lotus-shaped spout, and poured in a kidney-tonifying wine made with donkey essence powder. [This was something the foolish young master used. After Huan'e reformed, he was never seen using it again.] He drank several cups alone, [this could be considered a calming drink.] and felt increasingly depressed. He summoned a servant named Huan Ying and instructed him, "Go to Old Wu's house and tell him why he hasn't come to see Master for several days. [Recently, many people have been calling him that.] I have something important to tell him, so tell him to come." Huan Ying obeyed and ran off, then called him back and said, "Tell him that my master is drinking in the garden and waiting for him. It would be best if he came quickly." Huan Ying replied, "I'll just say that Master ordered that if he comes late, he's not allowed to come next time. If he hears this, he'll come as fast as he can." Huan E was delighted and said, "You've got a good idea, it's perfect." Huan Ying, pleased with his master's praise, left happily.

A moment later, Huan Ying came to report, "Master Wu has arrived." Huan E said, "Let him in." Wu He was already standing outside the screen. Hearing Huan E call him "Master Wu," he hurriedly bowed and stepped over the threshold, saying, "This junior has not been able to serve you for days; I am truly guilty." Huan E did not rise, but merely raised his hand slightly, [a very formal gesture]. He gestured for him to sit. A servant had already placed a stool across the table. Wu He politely declined several times before daring to sit. Huan E ordered wine to be poured. The servants poured and brought it over. Wu He quickly stood up to take it, forcing a smile, and said, "I have not been able to serve you for days, my sins are countless; how dare I accept wine?" Huan E said, "No need for such modesty. Drink it all." Wu He bowed deeply in thanks, then drank it all in one gulp before sitting down. Huan E said, "You haven't come for days, which has made me extremely bored. What have you been doing at home?" Wu He chuckled and said, "Because I have not served you properly, causing you such distress, I deserve to die a thousand deaths." He bowed deeply again and said, "I have some mundane matters to attend to, please forgive me." Huan E asked, "What has happened at your home?" Wu He said, "Because I have been serving you at home all day, one evening when I returned home, my wife was there, but for some reason she had been kidnapped. I have been busy for several days because I have not been able to see you." Huan E said, "How could such a witty person like you marry such an unworthy wife? You didn't even guard against her, and she escaped." Wu He said, "My wife is usually very virtuous and quiet. She sits alone behind closed doors all day, never stepping out of the door, and is completely unfaithful. The neighbors all praise her virtue." "Shu, how could she possibly run away from her husband? It was a bad man who lured her away; it has nothing to do with my wife. Even if she has gone away, she will surely remain faithful. That's why I'm in such a hurry to find her, unable to bear abandoning such a virtuous woman." Huan'e said, "Since that's the case, why don't you come and tell me? My master sent someone to order the military command to arrest you; wouldn't they dare to obey?" Wu He said, "If the master orders him, he'll be too busy to disobey; how could he dare not? But my wife is still innocent, and I dare not disobey the emperor." Huan'e laughed loudly, "Well said, well said." He then asked, "What is your wife's surname?" Wu He said, "My wife's surname is Ying." Huan'e said in surprise, "That's not surprising. A woman with the surname Yin would naturally run away with someone. How could she have such a surname?" [Strange tale, a surname is something only a fool could utter.] Wu He said, "This surname has existed since ancient times; Qin Shi Huang was born under this surname." Huan E laughed, "I heard a folk song the other day that Qin Shi Huang's mother was a womanizer; this is a family tradition passed down through generations." He added, "Don't worry, I'll send someone with a note to the magistrate, telling him to hurry and get it; it'll definitely be there. You can submit a replacement petition; isn't that better than the military office?" Wu He quickly rose and bowed in gratitude, saying, "That's even better. Thank you for your great kindness, Your Excellency." Huan E then instructed his servant to take the note to the county office. Wu He stood up and said, "I'll go with you to submit the replacement petition and then come back to report." Huan E said, "No need for you to go." He then instructed his servant, "Go to the county gate and hire someone to write it for him and send it in with the note." The servant agreed, asked Wu He for his surname and address, which Wu He explained in detail, and thanked him again. The servant took the note and left, and Wu He then sat down.

Huan'e laughed and said, "Since your wife was lured away, she must be quite beautiful. Why didn't you let me see her before? Besides, I've treated you well. Let her have some company with me; my master might not defile her." [Such words can only be uttered by such a person.] Wu He said, "I am so grateful for your kindness that I would gladly offer my wife and children. I am ashamed that my simple clothes and plain hairpins would sully your noble eyes. I also fear that my poor and coarse body would tarnish your rich and noble appearance. If I were to be able to obtain her in the future, and if you would not reject her and keep her as a concubine, I would be greatly honored. [A piece of bamboo is certainly not worth mentioning, but the insult is too harsh.] If she is virtuous and does not comply, I will certainly persuade her to submit, to fulfill the humble man's intention of offering his humble servant." Huan'e was flattered and felt very happy. He rubbed his large, bloated belly and laughed heartily. He asked, "Your home is quite far from my residence, how did you arrive so quickly today?" Wu He replied, "Last night I dreamt that my grandfather said, 'Lord Huan is so benevolent, even if you have matters to attend to, you can go and pay your respects tomorrow. If Lord Huan is angered, even we will be criminals in the underworld.' I came early this morning, but on the way I met a constable from the Military Affairs Bureau, and we chatted for a while at a teahouse, asking him if my wife was affected. Then I rushed here. On the way I met Uncle Ying, who heard that the Lord was calling, and I wished I could put my hands on the ground and run like a dog." Huan E laughed and said, "Your ancestors were quite capable, that's why you were born like this." "A sensible person has come, how lovely, how lovely!" Wu He hurriedly bowed and said respectfully, "I dare not accept such praise, Your Excellency." Huan E said, "I sit alone all day long, and apart from you, I have no one else to talk to, so I cannot do without you." Wu He said, "This junior student is honored by Your Excellency's great kindness, and I regret that I have no way to flatter you. But I have heard people say that there was once a Lord Mengchang, who had three thousand guests. He was just a nobleman, yet he was still so popular, let alone Your Excellency, a noble young man, who could have thirty thousand guests if he wanted. Why don't I go and find some people to serve you?" Huan E said, "What you say is true, but how could you know what I am thinking? Look at my family background..." "How could I easily associate with such people? Only my sons and grandsons, or my wealthy disciples, are worthy of my acquaintance. [You are indeed skilled at choosing your friends, yet why are you so magnanimous today?] Do you think there's another family like mine in the whole city? It's only because you are understanding and discerning that I associate with you over drinks. Otherwise, would someone like you even be allowed in my mansion? If I were to casually mingle with others, wouldn't I disgrace the court and be ashamed to be a scholar?" Wu He said, "Your Excellency's thoughts are beyond the comprehension of even the most intelligent and wise; how could a humble student like myself possibly grasp them?" He then bowed and said, "I am honored by your instruction." He added, "The ancients said that no one is more intelligent than an emperor, and no one more clever than a young master." Indeed, it is true. But I, a humble student, think that since the lord is so distressed, I would gladly sacrifice myself, but I fear that even death would be of no use. With my mere favoritism, I am insufficient to command him. [Some might read this and say that while I am shameless, I am not quite this extreme. However, since I am shameless, even an exaggeration is not an exaggeration.] And these princes and nobles outside, some are high-ranking officials but not wealthy, others have much gold but no prominent position; I truly disdain associating with them. If I were to have no other choice, I would consider a few of the lord's uncles and brothers who are more shrewd, and befriend them again, [a strange tale throughout history]. They are of the same lineage as our ancestors, and perhaps I would not be tainted.”

Upon hearing this, Huan E's face changed color, and he roared in anger, "Nonsense! Outrageous! This is utter nonsense! How infuriating!" Wu He, unaware of the reason, was terrified and trembled. He quickly stepped forward, knelt on the ground, slapped himself several times, and pleaded, "I misspoke, I was ignorant of taboos, and my crime is punishable by death. I am willing to die, but please do not upset Your Excellency." He kowtowed repeatedly. Seeing his reaction, Huan E said, "Get up and sit down, I will not punish you." Wu He dared not rise, and only after being called several times did he finally stand up and stand respectfully, his expression still unsettled. Huan E told him to sit down and said, “Your crime is still forgivable because you are unaware of it. But you are a commoner, how could you possibly understand the profound principles I've learned about within the powerful and wealthy families? [You should watch him spout these profound principles.] Tell me, are these poor families even worth offending? There are a few scoundrel elders who flatter me in every way, [Elders and scoundrels are strange terms. However, if an elder addresses a junior as a scoundrel, adding the word 'scoundrel' is perfectly acceptable.] I'm just too embarrassed to associate with them, why would I bother with them? As for the words 'ancestor,' that's exactly what I hate about them.” Add vinegar. First, he couldn't earn a high-ranking official position back then, and now I, a mere prince of the eighth rank, have to kowtow to him on his behalf during festivals and anniversaries. I'm already furious. [This thought is quite strange.] That's somewhat forgivable. There's another matter. You were born into a family with only one son, my father, [that's also a strange title.] Now you've received an imperial decree, which is already quite an honor for you. And yet, for no reason, you've had many unimportant children. [This thought is even stranger.] If they all became high-ranking officials, and all were as wealthy as my family, it wouldn't bring shame upon me, and they wouldn't try to emulate me. If they don't humiliate me, that's fine. But there are also the poor and the lowly who come to me demanding I write for my father to take care of them, or they come to beg for my food, making my stomach swell up. I'm just unhappy. Now I'm distancing myself from them, but I'm afraid people will find out that this person is a brother of the eunuch patriarch or an uncle of the eunuch master, making me feel ashamed. Even if I ignore them, they still shamelessly come to harass me. I avoid them like the plague. If I were to associate with them again, I wouldn't be able to stand in this world for a moment. You know, my uncle-in-law, Liu Taichu, is a poor scholar who makes a living by teaching. When he sees me, instead of being ashamed, he insists on acting like my uncle. I'm furious and ignore him, but he still knows this and keeps coming to my house to bother me. You think I, a person above ten thousand, second only to three, would stoop to the level of these poor bastards? Wouldn't I be afraid of being laughed at by those in the know? Do you think I'm right?" [This was a profound and insightful statement, truly superior to the ancient sages, refreshing and worthy of a noble young man.]

Only then did Wu He regain his composure. Seeing how strange he spoke, and not daring to laugh, he hurriedly said, "Your Excellency's words are invaluable; who would dare utter a single word against them? But I am but a frog in a well, how could I possibly understand such profound principles? I have offended you out of ignorance; I am fortunate to be forgiven. I could never repay your kindness, even if I were to be shattered to pieces. But just now, Your Excellency said, 'Above ten thousand men, below three men,' that the so-called 'gentleman' is merely too modest. In my humble opinion, Your Excellency is now truly above ten thousand men, below no one." Huan'e said, "What you say is indeed true, but now there is the Emperor above, Lord Wei above, and my father above..." "Wouldn't that be second only to the three?" Upon hearing this, Wu He clicked his tongue and said, "Yes, yes, I am foolish and ignorant, unable to see this." After a moment of contemplation, he laughed and said, "I am deeply grateful for your kindness and have no way to repay it. I have come up with a plan to promote you, sir, by one rank, making you second only to the two. What do you think?" Huan E said happily, "You must have a brilliant idea. Tell me quickly." Wu He said, "What you mean by sir is only the Emperor, Duke Wei, and the Grandfather. I have thought about it carefully, and the Emperor and Duke Wei are the highest ranks. Only your father, though he cannot be ranked there..." "I could still contend with him, but I feel it's too much to say," Huan'e said. "Don't put on airs. If you truly have a brilliant plan, I will reward you handsomely." Wu He said, "Now that your father is the son of Lord Wei, why don't you prepare a generous gift and also become Lord Wei's disciple, recognizing him as your father? Then you can be on par with your father, like brothers, without acknowledging father and son, without any superiors. Wouldn't you then be second only to the two of them?" Huan'e was so happy that he lay down on the cool couch and laughed loudly, "Hahaha, oh dear!" "Wonderful! What a clever idea, what a brilliant plan!" He stood up and said to him, "Even Jiang Ziya from 'Investiture of the Gods,' Zhuge Liang from 'Records of the Three Kingdoms,' and Sun Boling from 'The Spring and Autumn Annals of Swords and Blades,' none of them possessed your ingenious strategies and knowledge. I have known you for a long time, yet I never knew you had such great talent and learning. You are truly admirable and lovable." Wu He laughed and said, "I was extremely foolish in my youth, but thanks to your guidance, sir, I have gained a brilliant mind and even acquired knowledge and strategies. This is all thanks to you, sir."

The two got along very well, and more delicacies, rare foods, and fine wines were served. They ate for a while. Huan E said, "Drinking and playing games are only truly enjoyable with three or four people. With your high level of learning and broad knowledge, you should devise a brilliant plan: visit one or two extremely wealthy friends." Wu He, while eating and sipping his wine, said, "I offended the magistrate earlier, and although he has been forgiven, I am still filled with trepidation. How dare I say another word?" Huan E replied, "I was merely in a fit of rage; it will subside soon. Do you see any resentment towards you now? You are simply unwilling to take it to heart, hence this excuse." Wu He feigned surprise, raising his neck... He shrank back a couple of times and said, "If that's what you say, sir, I can't accept it. Besides, your matter is my matter too. And since several high-ranking officials have come, I'll have a few more bowls of wine to drink. It'll be a small supplement to my humble stomach, so how could I not take it seriously? Although I've been eating and drinking tonight, this matter hasn't left my mind for a moment. I've been thinking of someone, but I wonder if I dare to speak of it?" Huan'e said, "Go ahead and tell me."

Wu He held a cup in one hand and chopsticks in the other, his mouth closed over the wine cup, his eyes fixed on the food in the bowl, eating incessantly. He had no time to answer. Huan E said, “Put down your cup and chopsticks for now, let’s discuss something serious. If you recommend a wealthy and virtuous person to me, [Alas, this is heartbreaking; the wealthy are considered virtuous, and the poor are naturally considered wicked.] we can form a drinking and eating society, then you’ll have plenty to eat every day. Why are you in such a hurry now?” Wu He, hearing this, had no choice but to put down his cup and chopsticks, took out a handkerchief to wipe his mouth, and said, “There’s a wealthy man in the city named Tong Baiwan. Have you heard of him, sir?” Huan E said, “I know of him, but I’ve never met him. I wonder what he’s like?” Wu He said, “That Tong Baiwan is arrogant, [Why are there so many people with that name today?] I also know him. His family is truly wealthy, with warehouses full of gold and silver, granaries overflowing with rice and beans, round pearls and shiny jewels. He has rhinoceros horns and elephant tusks. He owns dozens of pawnshops and hundreds of tenant houses.” "Houses, fields in the south, islets north of the river, large trees in the mountains, fish traps in the river—they have it all. Though not as luxurious as your mansion, sir, it's still quite second-best in Nanjing. In my humble opinion, it's alright to associate with such a family."

Huan'e shook his head and said, "His money is fine, but he has no official position. How can we associate with him?" Wu He said, "He's changed a lot lately. People take advantage of his lack of power. Last year, he took a lot of silver and recruited a top-ranking student in some 'Tuanyu Lan' program. He says it's very prestigious, [self-praise is clever; everyone boasts of their own importance, unaware of how insignificant others perceive it.] He'll be selected as the Left Vice-Prefect in forty or fifty years, [still a boastful claim; it might not even be effective in forty or fifty years.] a rank higher than the magistrate of this county. [This is true.] I don't know what this Left Vice-Prefect is, but it's probably..." That's quite something. He even complained it was too small and wanted to use it on the Yellow River. I surmise that once he gets there, his future as a military commander will be assured. Yesterday, he returned carrying a two-person sedan chair, even larger than a four-person one, carried by four porters in shifts. The sedan chair's cover was made of silk from Beijing, with a large, dazzling silver top reminiscent of the Five Sacred Mountains facing the heavens. Following behind were servants, dressed impeccably, all wearing corrugated hats woven from horsehair, uniform dark blue cloth robes, clean shoes and socks, and carrying a gilded book cover, supposedly made of foreign lion skin, containing many gold-flecked and vermilion-stamped visiting cards. There was also a large silver-topped umbrella, said to be made of Korean paper and styrax oil; when opened, it truly provided complete shade. There was also a folding bed with a grayish-brown quilt that looked like a child's bedpan; I didn't examine its material closely. It was certainly a treasure. In the evening, a pair of large lanterns were lit, one side bearing the inscription "Left Hall of the Candidate Prefecture," and the other "Tong Yamen" in bright red—very official indeed. A long-time attendant led the way, calling out, and he was actually interacting with the officials of the street patrol, the investigating officials, and the constables. People on the street would bite their fingers and look askance at him, avoiding him like the plague. [Was it fear of his power? Or his stench?] Who dared not call him "Master"? [This is, in borrowing Wu He's words, a strong denigration of the nouveau riche of Jiangnan. Readers, please don't blame the author for gossiping.] It was quite a spectacle. I've heard people say that his ancestor seven or eight generations ago had also held eight high positions in ancient times. [That's truly a distant and distinguished lineage.] In my opinion, besides the Grand Master, he's probably the only one who could be considered one. Huan E said, "Since you're getting so worked up, let's just say one. How about another one? Think about it again."

Just then, the head servant came to report that the letter and petition had been delivered to the county, and the county magistrate said he understood and would naturally accept the order. Wu He thanked Huan E again, said to the head servant that he had done a good job, and replied, "Good! It was bound to happen, and it was bound to happen." He sat down, quickly drank a few cups of wine, ate a few bites of food, and thought for a while. He said, "There's another family, the Jia family, whose name is Wenwu, a former convict. His late father, Jia Hanlin, is renowned throughout the city, and his late father-in-law, a wealthy official in the Ministry of Revenue, is famous far and wide. Their house has dozens of courtyards, the facades gleaming white, the paintings dazzlingly bright. In the center hangs a plaque made of agarwood, with three large gold characters on a dark blue background reading 'Jinshi Di' (Residence of a Jinshi). Outside stand four sandalwood flagpoles, painted bright red, with white jade carved drums at their bases. This family is the third most distinguished and wealthy in the city. As for his belly, this humble man cannot fathom its depths, but just hearing him speak, he speaks with charmingly refined elegance, truly eloquent. Occasionally, he sways his protruding belly, indeed displaying the physique of a nobleman, quite different from ordinary people. If we were to eliminate him and pursue..." "There's nothing left to search for."

Huan'e frowned and said, "Well, that's fine, but I heard that his status as a successful candidate in the imperial examinations is a bit unclear. I'm afraid people will laugh at me, a young master, for not recognizing talent." Wu He said, "The master is here again. [This half-finished sentence is brilliant. I was about to refute him, but I didn't dare to speak, so I quickly stopped myself and continued.] Although he's a bit unclear, he's now openly saying he's a successful candidate in the imperial examinations. Who dares to say he's fake? He's also become a disciple of Wei Shanggong as his grandson. Who wouldn't respect him? [A grandson is far better than a fake candidate.] Who would dare say a word against him? Besides, he can even write poetry. If we associate with him, people will praise the master for his discerning eye." Huan'e asked, "How do you know?" Wu He drew circles on the table with his finger. He said, “Everyone praises you, sir, as a wealthy and talented man. That’s why you associate with such a wealthy and learned scholar. With such a reputation, who wouldn’t admire you? Isn’t that wonderful?” Huan’e said, “I don’t care whether he’s talented or not. Since he has wealth and power, you go to those two tomorrow and tell them that my master never deigns to associate with those of lower status, but because he admires their wealth, he wants to be friends with them. See what they think. Once you’ve explained it, come back to me. I’ll be waiting for your reply tomorrow afternoon.” Wu He said, “When they hear that it’s your master who wants to befriend them, they will naturally obey without question. How could they dare to disobey? I will explain it to them tomorrow and definitely come back to report.” After saying this, he drank more than ten cups of wine, and was quite drunk. As dusk approached, he got up, bowed eight or nine times, and took his leave. Truly, “

Countless flatterers fawn over the wealthy, while half of the relatives and friends of the humble household are gone.”

Let’s leave the rest of the story aside for now and talk about Qian Gui. Ever since he met Zhong Sheng, he has vowed to remain chaste and was looking for an excuse to give him a hard time. Just then, Zhu Sikuan wanted to patronize a prostitute, but was met with a tantrum and several days of cursing. Hao Shi, also finding it uninteresting, waited until he seemed somewhat less irritable, then tried to persuade him to accept clients again, but he resolutely refused.

Some time later, a wealthy young man from Beijing arrived, bringing fifty taels of silver, wanting to patronize a prostitute for two nights. The madam, greedy for money, was tempted again, first trying to persuade him to comply, but Qian Gui swore to die. Then she further oppressed him, nearly killing him. Although Hao Shi was also greedy, she was still his own daughter, and fearing he might actually cause trouble, she had to repeatedly and politely ask him to leave. Now, who was this young man? What was his name? Let me tell you the details.

During the reign of the Jiajing Emperor, he happened to remember the meritorious officials who had followed the Taizu Emperor in pacifying the country. Later, because the Yongle Emperor usurped the Jianwen Emperor's throne, those who refused to submit were stripped of their hereditary titles. Emperor Jiajing, unwilling to let their merits go to waste, ordered an investigation of their direct descendants to inherit their titles. The descendants of Liu Chengyi, Xu Zhongshan, Chang Kaiping, and others all inherited the titles of duke, marquis, and earl. He then recalled Yao Guangxiao, the Junior Tutor and Duke of Rong, whose contribution to Yongle's usurpation was paramount. Although a monk, he must have brothers, uncles, nephews, and other relatives. Emperor Jiajing was ordered to investigate in Wuxi County. At that time, there was a man named Yao Huazhou, from a wealthy family, who was not entirely incompetent. He was knowledgeable in various schools of thought, though not necessarily an expert in every one. Moreover, he was eloquent, able to discuss military strategy, history, and current events with great fluency, making him difficult to argue with. He was in his prime, with a handsome and refined appearance. Upon hearing of this imperial decree, Yao Huazhou went to the county court to plead his case, claiming to be a direct descendant of Yao Guangxiao and entitled to inherit the title. The magistrate retorted, "The Duke of Rong should inherit the title; how could the monk have a grandson?" Yao Huazhou initially intended to claim he was the Duke of Rong's grandson, which was perfectly acceptable, but he never considered how a monk could have a son to carry on the family line. Seeing the magistrate's rebuttal, he panicked and secretly gave the magistrate a generous gift, changing his claim to be the descendant of Yao Guangzhong, the younger brother of Yao Guangxiao. It was said that Yao Guangxiao only had a virtuous older sister, never a brother.

So, whose descendant was Yao Huazhou? Yao Guangxiao was the son of a physician; his father was skilled in medicine but a devout Buddhist, and had only one son and one daughter. His daughter was truly a remarkable woman, literate, virtuous, and devoted to her husband, remaining chaste after his death and raising her children to adulthood. Though a woman, she was stronger than any man of iron will. Ever since Yao Guangxiao aided the Prince of Yan in his usurpation, she had hated him to the core. Later, Yao Guangxiao was enfeoffed as a Duke and returned home in glory. His parents had already passed away by then. He came to see his virtuous sister, but she refused to let him in. She said through the fence, "Our family has never had such a distinguished person." Yao Guangxiao understood her meaning, so he changed into monk's robes and went to see her, but she still wouldn't let him. His family repeatedly urged him to open the door, and his sister finally opened it, standing in the main hall. Yao Guangxiao entered and bowed respectfully. His sister angrily said, "Is anyone in this world a good person who doesn't even finish their job as a monk?" and then withdrew. Yao Guangxiao left, ashamed. [Yao Guangxiao was indeed his sister's sinner, but he still had a heart. Nowadays, even those who gain a little fame are looked down upon, let alone someone like his sister. Such a woman, meeting Di Lianggong's sister again, is a rare occurrence throughout history.]

Now, let's discuss why Yao Guangxiao became a monk at a young age. From a young age, he was clever and cunning. The renowned physiognomist Yuan Gong, upon seeing him, said to his father, "This child has triangular eyes and a sick tiger-like appearance; is he perhaps a descendant of Liu Bingxi? If he were to study Confucianism, he might not live long. If he were to become a monk, he could one day become an imperial tutor." His father then sent him to a nunnery run by a monk named Yuantong, with whom he had a long-standing friendship. He didn't choose to become a monk willingly; he was forced into it. His master, Yuantong, was also a famous and talented monk at the time. He loved Yao Guangxiao's intelligence and handsome appearance, diligently teaching him classics and poetry during the day, and they became husband and wife at night. This was a common practice among monks, a legacy passed down through generations. However, as he grew older, although he possessed extraordinary talent, he also had many vices. Furthermore, his conduct was immoral and extremely shameless. He secretly had an affair with a nun, who gave birth to a child, which he refused to acknowledge. He had a cousin named Yao Guangzhong, who secretly had an affair with this woman. Yao Guangzhong had no children, so Yao Guangxiao gave the child to him as his son, thus establishing Yao Guangzhong's lineage. Yao Huazhou was this child's descendant, and by all accounts, he was Yao Guangxiao's direct heir.

Over time, Yao Guangxiao's reputation grew, and he could no longer stay in his hometown. He went to Nanjing to seek refuge with a monk named Zongle, whom Emperor Taizu trusted. Zongle, unaware of his bad character, was fond of him because of his good looks and talent, and gave him the Dharma name Daoyan, with the Dharma title Sidao. At that time, a prince named Wang Xing, seeing through his character, said, "Sidao is not like others who serve Buddha and their masters, idly becoming monks for a long time." Zongle recommended Yao Guangxiao to Emperor Taizu. Later, each prince was granted a position as a Buddhist official, and Yao Guangxiao was assigned to the Prince of Yan. After Emperor Taizu's death, his grandson Jianwen succeeded to the throne. He saw that the court was young and, wanting to be a meritorious official, strongly urged the Prince of Yan to rebel. He usurped the throne from Jianwen and changed the era name to Yongle. Considering his contribution the greatest, he was granted the title of Junior Tutor and Duke of Rong. Yongle bestowed several palace maids upon him, but he, wanting to appear like a living Buddha, refused to accept them. Besides, he already had a young novice monk as his wife; why should he need these? Yongle valued his virtue even more. Later, people said that Junior Tutor Yao was a true monk, not lusting after women, unaware that he, because of his high position, sought empty fame and knew nothing of his youthful disgraceful conduct. As a Duke, he received countless imperial favors, totaling tens of thousands, all of which he gave to Yao Guangzhong to bequeath to his son. This wealth continued for nearly two hundred years, until Yao Huazhou, who remained immensely wealthy.

Yao Huazhou initially claimed to be the direct grandson of Yao Guangxiao, but the magistrate rejected this claim. He then claimed to be a descendant of Yao Guangxiao's younger brother, Yao Guangzhong, simply replacing "brother" with "clan." The magistrate, having received a substantial bribe, reported this to the emperor. His superiors, unable to verify the truth, dared not report it lightly and instead ordered the magistrate to investigate thoroughly. As the saying goes, "A sum of money can move mountains." How could the magistrate, having accepted such a large bribe, possibly repay it? Moreover, with no way to verify the facts, he simply signed a document confirming that Yao Huazhou was indeed a direct descendant of Yao Guangzhong's younger brother. Based on the document, the superiors summoned Yao Huazhou and, having also bribed Yan Song and his son, made the false claim seem true. They summoned him to the capital for an audience with the emperor. When he met the emperor, he answered fluently. The Jiajing Emperor was overjoyed, believing that only a descendant of Yao Guangzhong could possess such a talented individual in both literature and military affairs, and thus granted him the title of Marquis. At that time, the world was at peace. He spoke eloquently, discussing military strategy and tactics, often lamenting that heroes had no opportunity to use their talents. Some court officials believed him and genuinely respected him, praising him as a reincarnation of Zhuge Liang and a return to the life of Liu Hou, a source of great joy for the court. Others were annoyed by his boastful words but dared not argue with him. He lived through the reigns of three emperors—Longqing, Wanli, and Taichang—and enjoyed a life of luxury for over fifty years. He had two sons: the eldest, Yao Yumin, was a simpleton who only ate millet; the second son, Yao Zemin. On the night his wife, Lady Chu, gave birth to Yao Zemin, Yao Huazhou dreamt that a monk entered his inner chamber. Enraged, he exclaimed, "What wicked monk dares to enter my chamber?" The monk replied sharply, "I am your ancestor, Yao Guangxiao. In my previous life, I committed too many sins, and I have suffered for over two hundred years. Now you have unjustly received a high rank from the court. Tomorrow, the dynasty's fate will be sealed. The Heavenly Emperor has decreed that I come to be your son, to atone for my past sins and settle this matter." Having said this, he crawled between Lady Chu's legs and disappeared. Yao Huazhou awoke with a start, just as Lady Chu was experiencing abdominal pain and soon gave birth to a son. Although Yao Huazhou knew he was the reincarnation of his ancestor, he did not understand his words about atonement, so he gave him the nickname "Zuguan" (祖官), meaning "ancestor official." He said that when he grew up, he would emulate his ancestor in pacifying the world and benefiting the people; hence, he named him Yao Zemin.

On the night Chu gave birth to him, she was half asleep when she saw a naked monk climb onto her bed. Chu was both surprised and delighted. [Delighted, why the surprise?] Just as she was about to ask him where he came from, the monk thrust his bald head into her vagina. Chu exclaimed, "Oh dear, this monk is so clumsy! How can such a big head fit?" She was about to push him away when, unexpectedly, his entire head was inside her. [Exactly. A small head would be fine, but how could a big head be used? Little did she know it would fit! The joy in her dream is immeasurable. She felt a swelling in her vagina and a slight pain in her lower abdomen. She awoke with a start, already in labor. The monk's entry was easy, and his exit was even smoother. Chu gave birth to a son without any difficulty, and was overjoyed. Chu told Yao Huazhou about her dream, and Yao Huazhou also told him his dream. The couple found it deeply strange.]

Yao Huazhou was a devout Buddhist. He built a Buddhist shrine in his home and invited a monk he often associated with, named Wanyuan, the abbot of Baoguo Temple, who was only in his thirties, to come and support him. Wanyuan was well-versed in all the scriptures, and was also handsome, with a fair complexion, a round head, and a tall, large body. A few lines praised him:

"A bald head, [and to call it 'full' is quite strange.] A large, white face. His eyes are half-open, half-closed, feigning a compassionate expression; his mouth opens and closes, speaking eloquently. A hundred and eight white beads hang on his chest; the three thousand Buddhist scriptures are all forgotten. 'Amitabha' is constantly on his lips; his mind is filled with thoughts of beautiful women." Yao Huazhou thought he was a bodhisattva, but little did he know he was a lecherous devil.

He was also very eloquent, and Huazhou respected him like a living Buddha. The whole family called him Master. Yao Huazhou then took Zu Guan under his wing as his apprentice. Zu Guan was plump and handsome, and the couple loved him dearly. They hired a wet nurse and a young girl named Su Xin, around ten years old, to help care for him. When

Zu Guan reached seven or eight years old, he was delicate and chubby, with a large face and a clever mind, but also cunning. [The previous mention of Yao Guangxiao also uses these four characters, so the order is consistent.] Even at this age, his wet nurse still slept with him every night. The wet nurse and her husband never stopped engaging in illicit activities in bed. He would occasionally wake up at night and see the two of them moving around, not knowing what they were doing. In the summer, when they were both fully aroused, he saw that the wet nurse's penis had entered his wet nurse's vagina, and they were moving around. Only then did he realize what had happened, and his little penis even began to throb.

When he was ten years old, his wet nurse died of illness. No one took care of him at night, and he cried in the night. Even when Madam Chu took him to sleep, he refused. Because Su Xin had carried him since he was a baby, he wanted to sleep with Su Xin. At this time, Su Xin was twenty years old and had married a man named Wu Shi. After more than two years, another maid named Xiang'er was assigned to serve him. Madam Chu then asked Su Xin to take him to sleep. By this time, he was older and more knowledgeable. He often saw Su Xin and her husband moving around in the quilt, just like his wet nurse and her husband, but they would stop after a few movements. He knew what they were doing and was very upset.

One day, Wu Shi was sent away on a mission, and Qin Xin slept with him. At dawn, Zu Guan woke up. He saw that Su Xin was not covered by a blanket, lying naked on her back with her legs spread wide. He quietly got up, crawled to her feet, and looked down at her crotch, only then realizing the shape of this beautiful thing. His penis was over three inches long, and it hardened without warning. It brazenly climbed up his stomach, aimed at his entrance, and thrust inside, pumping rhythmically. Su Xin awoke with a start, saw it was him, and laughed, "Such a small child already learning this? Why aren't you getting off?" The old man grabbed her waist tightly. [He was just a little boy; he couldn't reach her shoulders or arms, so he grabbed her waist.] He started pulling and tugging wildly.

It turned out that Su Xin's man, Wu Shi, although in his twenties, was similar to the old man in this way, and much faster. Although they had been together for two or three years, Su Xin had never experienced loss, nor did she know the pleasure. At this time, the old man was still young and had no semen to release, so he kept thrusting without stopping. Su Xin felt he was far superior to Wu Shi. Seeing his young and weak nature, she held his buttocks tightly with both hands and pounded downwards for a while, until the old man made her lose control once. She loved the old man terribly. Zu Guan, having just tasted this unusual pleasure, refused to get off his belly once they were in bed. Su Xin, being small and light, found it easy to carry him, letting him press against her stomach. They began to move, and Su Xin, experiencing sudden pleasure, let out many lewd moans and sighs. Zu Guan found this even more amusing, and the two lingered for over ten days. Then Wu Shi returned, interrupting their tryst, leaving him heartbroken.

One day, Wu Shi went out to a banquet with Yao Huazhou, giving Zu Guan the opportunity to speak with Su Xin. Su Xin readily agreed. However, their maid, Xiang'er, was with them, and Zu Guan told her, "Go upstairs and get me some snacks." Xiang'er went, and the two quickly got into bed, undressed, and began their activities. Having been apart for several days, neither wanted to stop, and they continued their activities without ceasing. Suddenly, Xiang'er returned with a plate of snacks, but Zu Guan was nowhere to be seen. She had only said he was sleeping in bed. Lifting the curtains, she saw the two of them, bare-bellied, moving bare-bellied. Xiang'er was fourteen years old. Although she had never tasted it before, she knew what it was all about. So she put down the plate, smiled, and slipped away. Su Xin felt a little embarrassed and said to Zu Guan, "If he sees this girl, it might get out quickly. If the master and mistress find out, it's fine for you, but not for me. Even if my husband finds out, it won't be good. You have to get him to do something too, so we can keep quiet." Zu Guan said, "Don't worry, I'll take care of it." The two of them got dressed. Zu Guan went into the main room, and Xiang'er looked at him and smiled. Seeing that no one was around, he went up, hugged her, and kissed her. Then he tried to pull down her pants, but Xiang'er pushed his hand away, saying, "It's broad daylight, people are coming and going, what are you doing? Let go!" Zu Guan was also afraid of being seen, so he only scratched her crotch a few times through her pants and let go. The two of them laughed incessantly.

The day was very hot. In the evening, Su Xin took a bath in her room, and Xiang'er followed suit. Just then, Zu Guan came in. Su Xin said, "Xiang'er is taking a bath, hurry up and go." Zu Guan quickly stripped naked, pushed open the door, and ran into the room. Xiang'er was sitting in the bathtub when he suddenly pushed her down, pounced on her, and thrust in, spreading her legs. Although Xiang'er was a virgin, her lower body was soaking wet, and he entered her easily. Xiang'er cried out "Ouch!" as he pulled her out. Zu Guan felt his penis was tighter and more beautiful than Su Xin's. After a few thrusts, Xiang'er pushed him away, saying, "Get up, someone's coming." Zu Guan, already enjoying himself, got up, wiped himself, and asked Su Xin to bring clothes for him. The three of them looked at each other and laughed. From then on, they became a family, engaging in illicit affairs for several years. His penis grew to be: nearly six inches long and over the girth of a tiger. Even a brief encounter in bed, a thousand thrusts were still vigorous.

When Zu Guan was fifteen, Yao Huazhou arranged for him to marry a woman surnamed Gui, a member of the Embroidered Uniform Guard. [During the late Ming Dynasty, the Embroidered Uniform Guard and the Eastern Depot were sworn enemies, hence the curse that she gave birth to such a lewd and despicable woman.] The dowry was very rich, and she was accompanied by two maids, Qingmei and Lü'e. Within a month, Yao Zemin had taken advantage of all three women.

He was incredibly lustful; even with three wives and three maids, plus Xiang'er, he still wouldn't let go of Su Xin, often having pleasure with her in the west room. Su Xin's husband was only in name; he would often pretend to be summoned by his superiors for night watch, and would come to do so. Gui, a young girl of only fourteen or fifteen, was unaware of jealousy or resentment, and they lived happily together.

When Yao Zemin turned eighteen, his mother, Madam Chu, died. Yao Huazhou's eldest son, Yao Yumin, sent her back to their ancestral home for burial. Yao Huazhou was somewhat henpecked by nature. Although Madam Chu was not a shrew and did not subdue her husband, Yao Huazhou wanted to take concubines and maids. Although he had this desire, he dared not utter it. Yao Huazhou had once tested his intentions. One day, while chatting idly, Yao Huazhou laughed and said, "Whenever people open their mouths, they talk about wives and concubines. These two words together show that concubines are indispensable in a household, but they are meant to serve the wife. These wives misunderstand this, thinking their husbands are just seeking pleasure, and they never tolerate it. Isn't that ridiculous?" Chu Shi coldly retorted, "The ancients said, 'Only when one has no son at forty does one take a concubine.' If the wife has already given birth, then the word 'concubine' is unnecessary. People also talk about maids and concubines, showing that maids are indispensable in a household, and concubines are secondary, dispensable. As for the idea of serving the wife, it's even more laughable. Do you think maids can't serve and you must hire a concubine? That's just the pretense of heartless men." Yao Huazhou was speechless and had to abandon his thoughts. Now that Chu Shi was dead, he was nearing seventy and, not content with his past, indulged his desires of the past decades, marrying a twenty-year-old woman as his second wife. She was the daughter of the deceased Qiu family of the Guanglu Temple, and was very beautiful.

His home, originally designed for spring, summer, autumn, and winter, featured houses and pavilions, traditionally tended by a few simple maids for his and his wife's leisurely outings. Now, without such care, he sent someone back to Nanjing to purchase four beautiful concubines in Yingtian, Yangzhou, Suzhou, and Hangzhou, each with a beautiful maidservant. He also bought four more concubines in Beijing and Shanxi, with similarly arranged maidservants. Two concubines and two maidservants shared a room, solely for entertainment; the cleaning and chores were handled by the same simple maidservants.

His spring garden had a peony terrace and a peony railing, surrounded by peach, apricot, plum, and apricot trees, their blossoms fragrant and vibrant when in bloom. He appointed two concubines, one as the principal wife and the other as the assistant wife, one called Aunt Dan and the other Sister Shao. His

summer garden had a lotus pond on all four sides, with a waterside pavilion in the center. Several pomegranate and willow trees lined the pond, their branches shaded by green paulownia and bamboo. A gentle breeze carried the sweet fragrance of lotus blossoms. He also appointed two concubines to manage this garden, one called Aunt Lian and the other Sister Liu.

The autumn scenery features several old osmanthus trees, a chrysanthemum garden, and is complemented by crabapple, hosta, cockscomb, and red leaves, creating a very elegant atmosphere. When the hibiscus is half-open and the chrysanthemums are in full bloom, the landscape is like a tapestry. [It is strange that the osmanthus does not bloom in the capital, so it is not mentioned.] Two concubines, one called Aunt Osmanthus and the other Sister Chrysanthemum, are in charge of its care.

The winter scenery features many wintersweet trees of varying heights, interspersed with several clumps of nandina, their red and green hues blending together. In the corner of the room, there are many forsythia, winter jasmine, honeysuckle, and other varieties. Inside, several pots of daffodils, jade plum, winter plum, large citron, and Buddha's hand are arranged, their fragrance filling the air, quite elegant. Two concubines are also in charge of their care, one called Aunt Wax and the other Sister Snow.

Although he has these beautiful wives, concubines, and maids, the nearly seventy-year-old man has limited energy. Although he has cultivated each of them, while he has some ambition to constantly adorn the garden, he lacks the strength. These women could only be used as decorative playthings; it was impossible to truly study them. [Strange saying]

How could these young women remain chaste? His family rules were quite strict; children under three feet were not allowed inside. Even his eldest son, Yao Yumin, and grandson, Yao Buwu, dared not enter without permission. Only Yao Zemin, his beloved son, was allowed to come and go occasionally because of his young age. These enchanting women guarding an old man with hair like Peng Zu and a beard like Li Dan, were already repulsive. Moreover, there was a white-haired man above and a white-haired woman below. [The Guangxi people call old men "Po," presumably for this reason, but they call old women "Gong," I wonder what that means?] Useless nuisances. They couldn't even experience him once a month; even if they did, his leather-like penis would repeatedly stop, offering no pleasure whatsoever, only fueling their lustful desires. How could these women endure it? Upon seeing Yao Zemin, such a robust young man, and of similar age, their eyes blazed with lust. They wished they could swallow him whole. But once they saw him, they were all talk and laugh. Yao Zemin initially dared not be presumptuous, but as they grew closer, and given his lewd tendencies [the word "novel" suggests a peculiar interest], he wanted to take over his father's duties, and thus began to banter and joke with the others. Because he was interested in them, none of the concubines or maids failed to notice him, but none dared to make a move due to a lack of opportunity.

One day, Aunt Lian and Sister Liu were enjoying the cool air, chatting and laughing for a while. They happened to talk about the pleasures of married life, and Aunt Lian suddenly sighed, saying, "When I was a daughter at home, my bedroom was separated from my brother and sister-in-law's by a fence. Every night I could hear them laughing. Occasionally I would peek over and see them joking and laughing so happily; it was truly heavenly joy, and they were indeed husband and wife. Now we are unfortunate enough to be with an old man. Although we don't lack food or clothing, we live like widows. It would be better to marry a poor man; at least we could have a monogamous marriage." Sister Liu said, "This is everyone's fate. It's too late to complain now. Why not find joy even in hardship? Why waste your youth so foolishly?" Aunt Lian said: “I long to be here too. But apart from the Second Young Master, no one else has come here. If anyone dares to seek pleasure here, it would have to be him.” Sister Liu smiled and said, “That’s exactly what I was thinking too. But I don’t know what you think, Sister. Since we are of one mind, we shouldn’t delay. [It started with those two, because their lustful desires are even stronger in the hot summer.] I’ve seen that all the sisters are interested in him. If we don’t act first, someone else might take the lead. If we’re late, it’ll be no fun.” Aunt Lian said, “Since you’re determined to do this, the maids are very perceptive. We can’t hide it from them. We’ll explain it to them and it will work.” Then she called the two maids, one named Biwu and the other named Cuizhu, to her side. She said, "You two are with us, and we treat you like sisters. I have something to say to you both from the bottom of my heart. If you work together, I guarantee you'll benefit too." The two maids replied, "We are honored by your kindness, Auntie. How could we be so heartless? We know you have something to say, so please speak freely."

Aunt Lian and Sister Liu said in unison, "Master is getting old, and we are young and carefree. What kind of chastity are we upholding? We want to find someone interesting to alleviate our loneliness. What do you say?" The two maids said, "That's difficult. How can outsiders get in? And we can't get out. We advise you to give up this idea, Auntie." Aunt Lian laughed and said, "Silly girls, do you think I don't know? There's one right in front of us. Why do you need to go looking for him?" Wu said, "If it's someone right in front of you, it must be Second Master?" Aunt Lian laughed, "You're so shrewd, it's him." Bi Wu also laughed, "It's easy to talk about him. I dare not lie to Aunt Lian, the other day, my aunt went to the madam's house, and Sister Cui went with her, leaving me alone at home. He suddenly came over, and seeing no one was around, he raped me. I couldn't resist him, so I had to let him do as he pleased for a while. [Many people, the first to act is Bi Wu, which has a deep meaning. The zither is made of paulownia wood, and the ancients said that the hearts of the zithers provoke each other, which is the meaning behind this.] He asked me to be a matchmaker, wanting to get together with my aunt. He said he didn't know what the two of you thought, so he didn't dare to speak up himself and asked me to sound him out. I declined, saying I dared not agree. If my aunt is interested, this matter will be easily accomplished."

Aunt Lian was overjoyed. He laughed, "I didn't expect you to be the first to do this. What do you think of him compared to Master?" Biwu said, "He's much bigger. His thing is like cast iron, unlike Master's soft and pliable one. Besides, it's much bigger, and he lasted a long time. He made me feel weak for quite a while before I woke up." Aunt Lian and Sister Liu's faces flushed with anger as they discussed, "Although we see each other often, how can we do such a thing?" They said to Biwu, "I'll pretend to be asleep, and you go and invite him over so he can steal from me." [This is truly like burying one's head in the sand.] Once he's done it, I won't feel ashamed. Once he's done it, Sister Liu will break in, and we'll all join in." Sister Liu laughed, "Since you're so comfortable doing this, what's there to be ashamed of? I'm not afraid, [and I'll do it your way, sister]." She said to Biwu, "Go quickly and see where he is and invite him over."

Biwu went out the door and saw him coming from afar. She hurriedly came in and said, "He's here." Aunt Lian hurried into the room, took off her undergarments, leaving only a single skirt, and pretended to be asleep on the bed. She deliberately crossed her legs, lifting her skirt slightly to reveal her vulva. Sister Liu also dodged, and Bi Wu came out. Yao Zemin walked up, saw no one, hugged and kissed her, and asked, "How's the matter I asked you to do?" Bi Wu said, "How could I bring it up? He's sleeping in his room right now. Why don't you go and steal from him? You can't change your mind. If you get involved, wouldn't it be better than me saying so?" Yao Zemin, overjoyed, quietly entered the room. He lifted the curtain and saw that her upper body was bare, covered only by a light green gauze bodice and a bright red crepe skirt, revealing a thin red cleavage. His penis instantly hardened. He took off his shirt and trousers, climbed onto the bed, and thrust into her. After a dozen or so thrusts, he reached the root and began to move vigorously. Aunt Lian, feigning sleep, opened her eyes and laughed, "You thieving bandit! How dare you come to rape me in broad daylight? Seeing someone's here, why don't you get off?" Yao Zemin embraced her and laughed, "A bandit who comes to someone's house, does he ever leave empty-handed? This person is just Sister Liu; I'm going to ravage her flower." He then began to thrust vigorously. Aunt Lian, experiencing pleasure for the first time, felt it was completely different from that old man, and arched her back to meet him. As Yao Zemin continued, he admired her, finding her truly beautiful, and praised her, saying:

Her face was like a lotus bud, her cheeks flushed and pink; her body exuded the fragrance of lotus, her very being radiating a sweet, lotus-like scent. Her vulva resembled a slightly blooming red lotus, its petals parted wide in the thrusting; her feet were like golden lotuses raised high, truly like lotuses standing upright. Her whole body trembled, like lotus leaves turning in the wind; her tender vulva was moist, like dew dripping from a lotus pod. She truly deserved to be called Aunt Lotus, truly worthy of living in a lotus chamber.

The two indulged in their passion for a while, then Yao Zemin rested briefly before resuming their battle. It turned out that Sister Liu had been eavesdropping on their lovemaking from the side of the bed, seeing everything clearly through the gauze curtain. Hearing Aunt Lian's sounds again, he couldn't resist any longer. He came over, lifted the curtain, and laughed, "Sister's lotus heart has been thoroughly crushed by you. It should rest a bit. You two shouldn't enjoy yourself too much." Aunt Lian laughed, "Let you enjoy yourself too. Let him rub the pomegranate flower heart as well." Yao Zemin picked him up and put him on the bed, lifted his gauze skirt, and saw that he wasn't wearing any pants. He lifted his legs to look, and there was a bright red flower heart, just like a pomegranate bud. He started to play with it. While he was thrusting, he stripped him naked, revealing his white flesh, soft and lovely. Yao Zemin looked down at the entrance and exit. His orifice was tighter and smaller than Aunt Lian's. The flower heart was being pulled in and out by the penis, turning and turning interestingly. He mustered his courage and pounded wildly, making him moan softly and his starry eyes hazy. He stopped after a long time. Yao Zemin and Aunt Lian then played with it. He was watching with great interest, his body arching and twisting, trying his best to receive the thrusts. Sister Liu sat up, bent over, and looked down with a smile at the man's erection. Aunt Lian said, "Sister, you're so naughty! You help him push his back, so he can exert more force. What's so interesting about that?" Sister Liu laughed, "You're just enjoying yourself, all hot and bothered. Don't I care about the effort?" Aunt Lian said, "You're so ruthless. You push him hard, and I'll help you in a bit." Sister Liu laughed and went behind Yao Zemin, holding his buttocks with both hands, and pushed him for a while. Then Aunt Lian pushed Sister Liu down, and the two of them did it for a while until they both came. The three of them hugged, kissed, licked each other's lips, touched breasts and genitals, and played around for a while. Aunt Lian said, "We are destined to meet today, and we should have a long-lasting relationship. If there's nothing else, I'll have Biwu come to invite you. You should go now, or someone might come." Yao Zemin was still reluctant to leave, squeezing one's breast and pinching the other's genitals, before getting dressed and leaving.

The two of them, having just enjoyed their pleasure, felt completely relaxed and rested together. Yao Zemin entered the main room, where he was stopped by Biwu and Cuizhu, who laughed and said, "We've done the coal for you, what will you give us in return?" Biwu said, "I've already accepted your kindness." Pointing to Cuizhu, she said, "This is the new tax official, he needs to pay taxes, how can you bypass him?" Cuizhu giggled, and Yao Zemin knew they were asking for his thanks. He would need her for many things later, so he dared not treat her poorly. Besides, he was never satisfied in this line of work, so he grabbed one of them with each hand and said with a smile, "You don't care for other gifts, I have a diamond drill for you. I'll clean the bamboo joints and drill a hole in the paulownia tree." The three of them went to the bed in the west room, and he generously distributed the gifts to each of them, making sure they had plenty of bamboo sap and paulownia tears. [The two sentences are clever and witty.] Then they left.

The five of them often gathered together. Aunt Lian's two pieces of mushroom had been transformed into a large, open lotus flower, and Sister Liu's half-open flower had been kneaded into a pomegranate branch with a swirling blossom. No need to go into details.

One day, Yao Zemin was enjoying himself with Lian and Liu in their room when Biwu and Cuizhu overheard them. The water in the bamboo spout dripped incessantly, making them feel aroused. They teased each other for a while, their lust intensifying. After a few quiet words, they went to the west room and took off their trousers, their naked bodies slapping each other and laughing incessantly. Suddenly, Aunt La came in, wanting to speak to Lian and Liu. Hearing the laughter from inside, he peeked through the window and saw the two maids polishing a mirror. He thought with a smile, "Where is their master? These two maids are so aroused." He went to the main room but saw no one, assuming the two were asleep. He quietly went to the room and felt the unusual sounds from the bed. He assumed they were doing it, and with a grin, he lifted the bed curtains. He saw Aunt Lian's legs erect, Yao Zemin bending over and thrusting, and Liu pushing him from behind. He turned and walked away. The three of them were taken aback. Aunt Lian gestured with her mouth, and Yao Zemin understood. He jumped off the bed naked, caught up with her, and carried her inside. She said, "Good aunt, please don't tell anyone." Lian and Liu, both naked, also got out of bed and pleaded, "We're good sisters, please keep it a secret, dear sister." It turned out that Aunt La had long harbored feelings for Yao Zemin, but had no opportunity to do so. Now, seeing them like this, although she felt jealous, she couldn't express it. She wanted to take this opportunity to get to know him, so she said, "Each family has its own affairs. You two are fortunate to have found kindred spirits. What does it matter to me? What am I talking about? Let me go quickly so you can do your proper business." Yao Zemin held her tightly and said, "Good aunt, since I appreciate your kindness, I thank you for going again." Aunt La said, "Did I come here to seduce you? Don't I have a home? Why should I stay here?" Yao Zemin knew that she meant to go to his home, so he let her go and said, "Please go first, I'll get dressed and come back shortly." Aunt La then wandered away. Yao Zemin discussed with Lian and Liu, saying, "Since he's caught us, we have no choice but to go. If we don't shut him up, things will get messy." They knew that if he went, four more people would entangle him, taking away half of their affection. Though reluctant, they had to let him go.

Yao Zemin quickly dressed and went to Aunt La's place. Arriving in her room, he found her sitting alone in a chair, ignoring him. Yao Zemin smiled, rushed forward, and embraced her, kissing her. He pushed her away, saying, "Go and enjoy yourself with your sweetheart, I don't want to." Yao Zemin said, "I've missed you for so long, but I didn't dare to come near you. Today, by chance, I came here especially to befriend you, why are you treating me so coldly?" Aunt La said, "Who are you trying to fool with such nonsense? Your eyes are so blind! Those two are so handsome, you should naturally be close to them. I'm ugly, I don't want you to come here against your will. If I hadn't stumbled upon you today, would you even bother to look at me properly?" Yao Zemin said, "You're so wronged! Aren't you prettier than those two? How can you say such a thing? Although I wanted to come, I didn't know what you thought, so I didn't dare to be presumptuous. I was grateful for their affection, so I befriended them first. You're just upset that I came late. I'll come more often from now on to make up for what I owed you." Although Aunt La didn't say anything, she didn't move. Yao Zemin quickly stripped naked and tried to carry her to bed. He gripped the chair and said, "No, please don't trouble yourself." Yao Zemin, in a panic, knelt before him and said, "I beg you to go to bed, don't waste time." Aunt La, of course, loved it. This performance served two purposes: first, to vent her jealousy since Lian and Liu had gone first, and second, to urge him on so she could make up for her earlier shortcomings. Seeing him kneeling naked, his penis thick and long, throbbing wildly, so incredibly arousing [as the proverb says, "Even if you don't respect the monk, you should respect the Buddha," Aunt La, however, respected the monk even more than Yao Zemin]. She laughed, stood up, and helped him up, saying, "I'll give in to you, let's see if you have a conscience later." Yao Zemin carried him to the bed, undressed him, and, wanting to please him, did his best. Before long, he had already orgasmed twice. Yao Zemin wanted to continue, but he said, "I've had enough. Sister Xue is with me, but I can't have him. Let me call him over, and you can have some fun with him too." So he called out, "Sister Xue, come here." Sister Xue had seen Yao Zemin arrive before him, and had been peeking at what was happening from under the window, which only fueled his desire.

He was from Shanxi, only sixteen years old, young and shy, and didn't dare to come in and teach her. Knowing that Aunt La wouldn't favor him, he waited patiently. Hearing her call, he pretended not to know and came in, saying, "What did you call me to say?" Before he could finish speaking, Yao Zemin jumped off, grabbed him, and pulled him onto the bed, pulling down his pants. He didn't move, just giggled. Yao Zemin saw that the crotch of his peach-colored gauze pants was wet, like snow melting in spring water. After taking them off, he saw his vulva, small and tender, dripping wet, and he was incredibly horrified. He thrust straight in. He said in a sweet, soft voice, "Ouch, you're hurting me! Be gentle!" Yao Zemin thrust in forcefully. He laughed, constantly yelling "He's hurting me!" Before long, both of them had lost their virginity. Yao Zemin, in the middle, put his arm around one of them and lay down, kissing one on the lips and biting the other's cheek, looking quite pleased with himself. Aunt La said, "I have a question for you, and you can't hide it from me. How long have you been seeing those two?" Yao Zemin replied, "Only a month or so, and to be honest, only six or seven times." Aunt La said, "I don't believe you." Yao Zemin said, "If you want to fool me, make me swear whatever you want and I'll tell you." Aunt La said, "Those four, do you have any secret affairs with them?" Yao Zemin said, "I wouldn't dare hide it from you. Although I have such intentions, I haven't done it." Aunt La said, "You make up for the previous debts for me, and I guarantee you'll get two more." Yao Zemin asked, "Which two?" Aunt La said, "Don't worry about it, just two more will be yours." Sister Xue laughed, "Sister, don't worry about him. Someone as clever as him, I'm afraid he won't go looking for them himself. Why would he want us to be with him?" Yao Zemin, hearing Aunt La getting excited again, gently bit Sister Xue's cheek and said, "You can be so glib." He rolled over and did it for a while. Then he made a match for Aunt La, heavily sucking her several hundred times before stopping. Aunt La said, "When you come tomorrow, please show some kindness to the two girls, Shui Xian and Tian Zhu, so that everyone can get things done smoothly." Yao Zemin readily agreed, got dressed, and went out.

The next day, upon entering, he went to the west room but found no one there. He heard a dripping sound behind the bed and hurried to investigate. It turned out that Tianzhu was urinating on the chamber pot. Seeing him approach, he quickly stood up. Yao Zemin grabbed him, not allowing him to pull down his pants, and dragged him to the bed, tearing off his trousers. Tianzhu didn't move or make a sound, just smiled slyly. Yao Zemin quickly took out his penis, stood in front of the bed, and began to vigorously penetrate him, making him moan incessantly. Just then, Shuixian came in from outside. Seeing the two of them enjoying themselves, she quietly went behind Yao Zemin to watch them urinate. Seeing Tianzhu's appearance, she couldn't help but laugh. Yao Zemin turned around, saw her, and abandoned Tianzhu, pushing him onto the bed, tearing off his trousers, and also giving him a rough and pounding session. The girl's lewd moans and groans were even more unbearable than Tianzhu's. After a while, wanting to save his energy for Aunt La and Sister Xue, he stopped.

Passing through the east room, the two men, having just enjoyed their tryst the previous day, were discussing its pleasures when they saw him approaching. They greeted him with smiles and, without further ado, went to bed, undressed, and made love. Yao Zemin told him about the two maids. The two men exclaimed in unison, "We thought you were just a young man, only slightly better than the master, but who knew one of you was worth seven or eight! As for the taste, you're like a feast for the eyes, while they're like coarse porridge!" They all laughed for a while. Yao Zemin came several times. One day, Yao Zemin asked Aunt La, "You said the other day that you'd give me back two after I made up the difference, and I've done so. Don't break your promise." Aunt La laughed, "You greedy little devil who only eats a little bit! Now that I've won you over, you can't fall for the new girl and neglect me." Sister Xue laughed, "In my opinion, sister, don't worry about him." Yao Zemin hugged him and bit his neck, saying, "You bad man, you're good at gossiping. If I don't cripple you tomorrow to get revenge, I won't be a hero." He then said to Aunt La, "Don't listen to him. If you help me get what I want, and I dare to be heartless, may I die a horrible death." Aunt La laughed, "Water the plum root thoroughly today, and tomorrow you'll definitely meet the new girl." Yao Zemin was overjoyed and pulled the two of them onto the bed, where they took off their clothes. He wanted to win her favor, so he used all his strength, and he also flattered Aunt La to his heart's content. Then he began to pound on Xue Jie, from head to toe, thrusting hard over a thousand times. Xue Jie, young and timid, was breathless from his ministrations. She struggled and said, "Master, are you going to kill me? I can't take it anymore, please spare me!" Yao Zemin laughed, "Are you afraid? Will you dare to talk back next time?" She laughed and pleaded, "I won't dare again, please spare me, dear master." Yao Zemin was also satisfied, and he loved her charming demeanor. He thrust hard a few more times and then ejaculated. Everyone dispersed.

It turned out that Aunt La was as close as Aunt Dan and Sister Shao as sisters, sharing intimate secrets with each other. They often chatted, lamenting how they were wasting their youth with an old man, sighing and lamenting, and they all thought of using Yao Zemin's sweet dew to quench their burning desire. They agreed that whoever succeeded first would not hide it from each other. Aunt La got it first. Among women, she's willing to yield to others in everything, except for this one thing. Even though they're sisters married to the same man, she still feels a little resentful of being treated unfairly. Aunt La, because of a previous agreement, couldn't bear to hide it from them. She gave them the benefit several times until she was satisfied before sharing it with Dan and Shao.

That day, she went to sit down with Dan and Shao. Dan said, "Sister, you look so happy today. What good news is there? It would be good if you brought your sister along." Aunt La smiled and said, "Tomorrow is my sister's birthday. I've prepared some small gifts. Please come to my place tomorrow noon to celebrate. Here's a gift list; please take a look." She took out a red slip from her sleeve and handed it to her with a smile. Dan quickly took it and saw it was a "hanging branch" (a traditional Chinese greeting card). It read: "

Dear sister, I've come to celebrate your birthday. The gifts are not meager; I hope you'll accept them all. There's a bolt of rolled silk, and two bolts of walnut-shaped crepe. A small bluefish, with big eyes and a cracked head." "I've brought her inside, and there's still a bottle of wine lying around outside."

One day, Yao Zemin happened to come to his place and saw the girl Hongye sleeping on a drunkard's chair, her legs propped up on the armrests, legs spread wide. He couldn't help but laugh. Looking around to make sure no one was watching, he quietly stepped forward, lifted her skirt, took out his penis, pounced on her, grabbed her, and started thrusting his penis through her pants. Hongye woke up with a start and said, "Why don't you let me up? My aunt is upset and is sleeping in the room. I'm afraid he'll see me when he wakes up." Yao Zemin didn't listen to her and just kept thrusting. The girl was aroused by his thrusting and laughed, "You reckless boy, you think you can get it in through your pants?" Yao Zemin didn't even bother to take off her pants. He tore open the crotch of her pants with both hands, making a big hole, and started thrusting. The girl wrapped her arms around his waist for a while, then said, "You should rest now. If Sister Ju comes back and sees this, she'll think I'm in heat and came looking for you, instead of saying you're shameless." Just then, the girl with the crest suddenly came over and saw him. She laughed, "Shameless! How come you two are all tangled together in broad daylight?" Yao Zemin quickly pulled out, hugged the girl with the crest, kissed her, pressed her down onto a stool, pulled down her pants, exposing her bare buttocks, and then penetrated her from behind, thrusting wildly. Hongye asked with a smile, "Where's Sister Ju?" Jiguan replied in a trembling voice, "Sister Ju, Sister Ju is still playing chess with her husband. I, I came home for a visit, but I didn't expect to run into this robber, who's doing this to me." Yao Zemin laughed, "I won't force you. If you don't want it, I won't do it anymore." Jiguan turned his head and laughed [turned his head, clever, indicating he was the one doing it from behind]: "You're so carefree. Since you've raped me and made me feel uncomfortable, I won't let you off the hook." The two laughed and played around for a while before stopping. He then went back to his bed with Hongye, but fearing Sister Ju would return, he had to stop.

Yao Zemin quietly asked Hongye, "What's wrong with your aunt?" Hongye replied, "Who knows? She hasn't been eating much these past two days, just sighing. She asks me to keep her company at night, but she tosses and turns, refusing to sleep. I'm dying of exhaustion! You can see I'm just dozing off here." Yao Zemin said, "Perhaps she's been aroused and wants someone to sleep with?" Hongye said, "Even though she can't say it, if there's someone interesting right now, she might not refuse. Why don't you go and cure her?" Yao Zemin said, "How could I not want to? But when she sees me, her face turns pale and she doesn't dare to make a move." Hongye laughed, "You're dreaming. She knows you've been close to those three aunts and three older sisters for a long time, and she's annoyed that you don't come near her. If you go and be apologetic, I guarantee you'll get what's coming to you." [Here, Hongye is used to remind him, implying that the two will get what's coming to them, with Hongye acting as matchmaker.] Yao Zemin suddenly realized what she meant, and he had always been angry about this. Chicken Crest said, "You heartless wretch, no wonder they're angry. Although my Sister Ju has never had any private affairs with you, she's been very kind to you. Now that you've found someone else and abandoned her, she's furious. From her words, though she says she hates you, she still has some affection for you. If you and Auntie get together, she'll naturally agree."

Yao Zemin was secretly delighted. He went into the room, went to the bedside, and saw that Auntie was sleeping facing inwards. He sat on the edge of the bed and called softly, "Auntie, are you feeling unwell? I've come to inquire after you." Auntie Gui was clearly awake but didn't answer. Yao Zemin reached out to touch him, and asked again. He suddenly rolled over, sneering, "Go to those people you love. Why are you asking me? It's a waste of your time." Yao Zemin said, "I heard you weren't feeling well, and I was extremely worried. I rushed over to inquire, with good intentions. What's this talk of lovers and servants?" He sneered again, "Do you think I don't know? Those six are all people you love, while the two of us are people you look down on, people you've discarded. You're so cold now..." "The beans are frying in the pot, what are you talking about? I've wanted to come and expose your adultery several times, firstly because I was afraid of implicating you, [and also to show my kindness.] Secondly, as sisters, I felt embarrassed. Although they kept it from me, I'd rather they be unkind than I be unrighteous. I've held back time and time again. [and also to show my wisdom, this woman is good at talking.] In truth, we're all the same kind of people, what's the difference between bricks and tiles? Even if I'm a little ugly, I'm not as ugly as Dong Shi or Mo Mu, yet you can tell the difference so clearly." As she spoke, she began to sob. Yao Zemin hurriedly pulled at his sleeve to wipe away his tears, but he turned his face away again and pushed him away, saying, "Go away, I don't care for your hypocrisy." Yao Zemin quickly knelt down by the bed and kowtowed, saying, "May anyone who is even slightly hypocritical be struck down by heaven and earth. I longed to be close to you, but seeing your angry face when you saw me, I dared not act boldly. If I had known you had such good intentions, I would have come to be with you long ago. You ruined this good thing yourself, how can you blame me?" As he spoke, he reached out to pull down his pants. He quickly grabbed them, saying, "Don't compromise your heart, you still want to go find your lover." Yao Zemin said, "My goodness, I'm telling you this, and you still don't believe me. If you don't agree, I'd rather die here today than go." As he spoke, he hurriedly took off his own pants and forcefully tried to undo his belt. Aunt Gui was still going to act coy, but Yao Zemin suddenly straightened her body, leaned over her, and thrust his hard penis wildly into her crotch. Aunt Gui was aroused and couldn't control herself. Her hands involuntarily loosened, and he took advantage of the situation to pull them off, put them inside, and began to thrust.

After a while, Aunt Gui said, "You wicked man, if I give in to you today, you'll definitely not care about me later." Yao Zemin said, "My mother, don't say that, it's so unfair. If we're talking about looks, you're the best among the eight of us; if we're talking about charm, you're the best too. I've loved you for so long, if I were to tell even one lie, I'd be doomed." Only then did Aunt Gui finally smile. [Her ability to cry and laugh so quickly is typical of a woman's nature.] Holding him close, she said, "If you truly love me, then Sister Ju will be yours to enjoy, and Hongye and Jiguan will be yours to have your way with. We are all sisters, how could I possibly take her place? I just want you to be fair. If you favor me, I'll find out and won't let it go." Yao Zemin said, "Since you love me so much, how could I dare to deceive you? The six factions have been taking turns each day, but since you haven't abandoned me, if I were to favor you, they would argue, so I'll just have to accept the rotation." As he spoke, he lifted her buttocks and placed her legs under his ribs. This play lasted for over a thousand minutes, leaving Aunt Gui weak and breathless. She laughed and said, "My dear, with such skill, no wonder everyone loves you. Although I've been here for several years, I only learned today how wonderful this thing is." She then laughed and asked, "Which of the sisters got to go first?" Yao Zemin told him the whole story in detail. Aunt Gui laughed, "What a flirtatious butterfly! You've stolen everyone's heart!"

As the two were laughing, they heard Sister Ju return. Aunt Gui said, "Sister Ju, come here, I want to talk to you." Sister Ju went to the bedside and saw Yao Zemin on the bed. She said, "Why should I let such a heartless man come here, sister?" and was about to leave. It turned out that Sister Ju was even more flirtatious and promiscuous. [After Fu fell ill.] She and Yao Zemin had played around, playfully touching arms and kissing. They hadn't actually been intimate. Later, hearing that he had many women, and seeing that Aunt Gui was too handsome to have, and that the vice-general was out of reach, she gradually distanced herself. Sister Ju was filled with jealousy, unable to vent it. Although she was secretly pleased, her desire had been brewing for a long time, hence her words. Aunt Gui pulled him down to sit, saying, "I just scolded him for being heartless. He said he was annoyed because you and I had seen him lately, and he didn't know what we meant, so he didn't dare to act boldly. We ruined things ourselves. In my opinion, we can't blame him; we were just being paranoid." After speaking on Yao Zemin's behalf, she persuaded him to go to bed. Sister Ju half-heartedly agreed and made love with him. From then on, Yao Huazhou's eight concubines and eight maids were nominally his, but Yao Zemin truly benefited from them.

One day, Yao Zemin thought, "I've already got them all, so I don't think they'll be afraid of being exposed. But Chang's wife is the lady's beloved, and she tells my father all sorts of stories. Besides, she's always been a

gossip; if word gets out, what will happen? I must get her too, that's the only way. I'll keep an eye out for an opportunity every day." One day, he saw Chang urinating by the Peony Terrace from afar. He quietly approached, grabbed her, and, since they were used to teasing each other, and Chang was extremely licentious, she actually yielded. They only had a brief encounter, and Yao Zemin was relieved. He put it aside for now.

At that time, the world was at peace, and the people were living in happiness. But extreme peace breeds chaos. By the third year of the Tianqi reign, some bandits in Sichuan and Guangxi colluded with local Miao people to incite rebellion. They didn't occupy any cities, but they looted people and livestock, and killed some old and young. If there had been a good general guarding the city, he could have led some troops and killed these bandits. But because of the long period of peace, people were unfamiliar with military matters. Upon hearing this news, the local officials were terrified and at a loss for what to do. They reported the matter seriously, saying that a rebellion had broken out in a certain place, and that it was extremely fierce. Upon seeing this report, these superiors were terrified that the rebels would come to kill them. Fame and fortune were minor matters; if they were to seize the officials' possessions and concubines, what would their sons eat in the future? They didn't even bother to inquire how many rebels there were. They hastily submitted a memorial requesting troops, describing the situation as extremely dangerous. When Emperor Tianqi saw the memorial, he also feared the loss of the region and ordered a meeting of the Nine Ministers and the Censors, ordering an expedition. Everyone recommended the veteran general Yao Huazhou, who was knowledgeable in military affairs, and pushed him to lead the campaign. He was already over seventy years old at this time, and he had boasted for decades; why was he now too old to go? It was Emperor Tianqi who worried that Yao Huazhou, being so old, couldn't endure the hardships of the malarial lands. The emperor questioned his ministers, who replied, "The generals of the past, such as Lian Po, Ban Chao, Zhao Chongguo, Guo Ziyi, and Ma Yuan, were all veteran generals, which is why they succeeded. Moreover, without encountering deeply entrenched and complex forces, one cannot find a suitable weapon. Although Yao Huazhou is over seventy, he is as vigorous as a young man and will surely be able to quell the rebellion." The emperor then ordered him to lead the troops. Those two places were merely small-time bandits; upon hearing of the arrival of the government troops, some went into hiding, others fled, and the region was pacified without bloodshed. Yao Huazhou, however, presumptuously claimed credit, reporting that the fighting had been extinguished upon his arrival. The emperor was overjoyed and bestowed generous rewards upon him. Fearing that the bandits would rise again once the troops withdrew, he appointed him General Who Guards the West, stationed in Guangxi.

After Yao Huazhou left, his second wife, Lady Qiu, was in her prime, married to such an old man with white hair and beard, soft as cotton, and prone to weeping. She was filled with unspeakable bitterness. Every time she saw Yao Zemin, she felt a surge of anger, thinking, "I am his perfect match, how could the Old Man Under the Moon have mistakenly tied the red thread to his father's feet? I am a delicate flower, how could I be entangled by this withered vine? Although Heaven has made a mistake in our union, human effort can still salvage it. Why not find a way to bring this son to serve me?" But as a stepmother, she couldn't speak up, and with the old man watching over her every day, there was no opportunity for her to take advantage. Helpless, she had to endure it. Unfortunately, that tactless old man still pretended to be charming, speaking sweet words and arousing her desire. But she couldn't do anything proper, and sometimes she had to force herself on him. It was a soft, pliable thing, and there was nowhere to find a small piece of bamboo to help him get in, so it didn't hurt or itch, making her feel even more miserable. Often, when lust flared up, she could only swallow cold tea and water, hoping his quick wit would extinguish the fire. If that didn't work, she'd rather be away from him, sleeping alone, out of sight, out of mind—that would make it a little easier to bear. After enduring this for several years, when he finally left, it was like removing a thorn from her eye, a feeling of relief washing over her. But Yao Zemin was constantly hovering under her nose. Seeing him made her heart flutter, and that strange thing below her navel would involuntarily throb with discomfort. She thought to herself, "I know I can't endure this; I'll eventually be unable to let him go. I might as well save myself from this predicament sooner rather than later." She often plotted to be with him, to marry him, and to enjoy those romantic pleasures. However, she lacked a reason and found it difficult to speak of it.

Although Yao Zemin deeply admired her, she held the status of a stepmother, different from his other concubines, and dared not even utter a casual remark, let alone act rashly. Although both women were interested, they couldn't confide in each other. One day, Qiu was sitting hesitantly when she overheard two maids arguing. One was named Chunhua, and the other Qiuyue. Qiuyue said, "You call me lewd? You were flirting and kissing the Second Master, and he put his hand in your crotch—I saw it with my own eyes! Isn't that lewd?" Chunhua retorted, "You can't deny it either; you're not exactly a pure maid. I saw him fondling your nipples every single day, and you kept it from me. I won't tell anyone." Qiuyue flew into a rage, cursing, "Shameless harlot! He only fondled my nipples! Take off your pants, and you'll see thousands of testicle marks on your vulva!" [Strangely, where are the marks?] Chunhua, enraged by her insults, retorted, "You filthy harlot, are you going to cushion my fall? How do you know so much?" The two almost came to blows. Qiu, who had been listening closely, came out and stopped them. A moment later, she called Chunhua into the room and quietly questioned her, "I've heard about your affair with Second Master for a long time. Tell me the truth, and I'll let you off the hook. If you try to hide it from me, I'll press you, and you'll be in big trouble." The maid, thinking that Madam was indeed aware of something, blushed and knelt down, saying, "Second Master often looks at me with a grin and laughs, but I ignore him. That day, he tried to kiss me, but I turned my face away, and he didn't kiss me. He then pulled down my pants, and I clamped my legs tightly together. He didn't touch anything. I wanted to scream, but I was too ashamed, so I coaxed him, saying, 'Go away, I'll invite you back when I have time.' Only then did he let me go. I didn't expect Qiu-jie to see it, and he scolded me today. I also saw him playing with Second Master. That day, Second Master was on top of him, touching his nipples and kissing him, laughing and giggling, and he stopped talking about it." Madam Qiu then asked, "Are you sure you haven't been intimate with him?" Chunhua said, "If I dared to lie to Madam, what if I saw what Second Master's things were like?" Her eyes were practically oozing with desire. She wanted to get intimate with him, so she'd tear her lower body apart, even spilling her intestines. He did forcefully kiss me. That day, when Madam wasn't in the room, Qiu-jie stole Madam's sleeping shoes for him to see. The Second Master even smelled them and saw me. Qiu-jie quickly took them and stuffed them under the mattress, without telling Madam yet. Madam Qiu smiled, then thought for a moment and said, "I have something for you to do. If you can do it, I'll reward you handsomely and let you get away with it." Chunhua stood up and said, "Whatever Madam asks, how could I dare not go?" Madam Qiu smiled and whispered in his ear, "Go find the Second Master and quietly tell him that you arranged for him to meet you at the Hundred Flowers Pavilion after sunset. I'll impersonate you and try it out with him. If it works out, the benefits will be yours, but you mustn't reveal it." Chunhua said, "I'll take care of it, I guarantee it will work." After a while, she returned and said, "I've arranged it." Madam Qiu was secretly delighted.

After dinner, he instructed the maids, "I'm taking Chunhua to the Hundred Flowers Pavilion to cool off; you don't need to come." Who dared disobey? Upstairs, there was a bed ready, so he lay down and told Chunhua to stay away. It turned out that Chunhua and Yao Zemin had been intimate countless times, and she had already told him about Qiu's pretense of inviting him. Yao Zemin was overjoyed and prepared himself to be filial to his stepmother. As sunset approached, he sneaked down to the Hundred Flowers Pavilion, quietly went upstairs, and felt around on the bed. He saw someone sleeping, but still didn't know if it was Qiu. Suspecting Chunhua was tricking him, he undressed and got into bed, then went to help her take off her pants. Qiu waited a while, about to fall asleep, when he woke her. Not wanting to make a sound, she let him undress her. Yao Zemin reached out and touched her vulva; it was plump and tender, with a tight cleft, a tiny clitoris the size of a fingertip, and a few fine hairs—completely different from Chunhua's. He knew it was real. Seeing that Qiu's tiny lotus feet were less than three inches long, Yao Zemin reached out and pinched them, his heart pounding with joy. He leaned down and took her vulva into his mouth, sucking on it for a while. Then he stuck out his tongue and licked her vulva wildly, making Qiu feel aroused. She had never done this before, and her waist just twisted and turned wildly, her tender buttocks rising and falling. Yao Zemin was in high spirits and climbed on top of her, thrusting hundreds of times in one go. Qiu was enjoying herself so much that she couldn't make a sound, only twisting and turning her body wildly to meet his thrusts. Yao Zemin said, “My darling, I’ve done this with you many times. You seem so happy and amused today. In just a few days, your body has become smoother and more supple, your vagina tighter and fuller, your feet smaller, you more alluring, and your whole body more fragrant. I think even a wife is no better than this. Could there be anyone like you? I suppose I’m not fortunate enough to enjoy a wife’s beauty. So today, I’ll treat you as my wife. My darling, why aren’t you saying anything?” He then stuck his tongue into her mouth and told her to stick it out again. Qiu had no choice but to stick out her tongue, which he took and sucked on for a while before thrusting it wildly from head to toe. Qiu had initially claimed that Chunhua had never been intimate with him, so she was impersonating him. Now, hearing that they had done this many times, she naturally knew it wasn’t the real Chunhua. After a while, she felt ashamed and couldn't help but moan, laughing, "You short-lived fool, don't try to fool me with your cleverness. You know it's me, what are you pretending to be?" Yao Zemin also laughed, "So it really is you, Madam. I was wondering where else could find such a good thing. My dear mother, I've offended you." As he spoke, he became more and more vigorous. Madam Qiu cried out in pain, calling him "my love" and "my brother." Yao Zemin felt she was even more wanton than his eight concubines. The two of them didn't stop until almost midnight.

Overjoyed, Qiu hugged him tightly, catching her breath for a moment before asking, "I heard rumors that those eight demons are all entangled with you, is that true?" Yao Zemin replied, "How could I dare hide it from you, it's true." Qiu smiled and said, "You're quite capable, it would be good if you shared some of your strength with your father. Today's events can't be kept from them, so tell them we don't care about rank or status, we just want to be of one mind and protect you." Yao Zemin said, "With such great kindness from you, who would dare not show you respect?" Qiu smiled again, "Chunhua, you..." "Have you slept with him too? He swore to me the other day that he hadn't." Yao Zemin said, "I've only dared not sleep with you in this family. I've already slept with your two beautiful maids." Qiu said, "Those two little sluts got off easy. He's lucky. He gave himself to you long ago. He's better than me." Yao Zemin saw how deeply she loved him. He caressed her body for a while. Her body was as smooth as jade, as smooth as a mirror. Her hair, lips, and face were all fragrant. He was aroused again and did it again. They hugged and embraced, their chests pressed together, and slept until dawn. They made love again. At this time, Yao Zemin saw her beautiful face and her body as smooth as jade. He loved her like a rare treasure and kissed her dozens of times before getting dressed and leaving.

That day, the other eight concubines all knew and came to congratulate Qiu. They didn't say anything to each other, but just smiled at each other. In the evening, everyone prepared wine and fruit and went to the Hundred Flowers Pavilion. They invited Qiu and Yao Zemin to sit side by side in the center, and everyone else sat in a circle. They laughed and chatted happily, drinking until they were half-drunk, then each took their leave. The two of them lit large candles, making it as bright as day, and indulged in wild revelry until midnight, feeling even more exhilarated than the previous night's intimacy in the darkness. From then on, a rule was established: Lady Qiu would get two nights, and the eight concubines would each get one night, rotating every ten days. He treated his concubines with extraordinary kindness, and they, moved by his affection, would often invite him to share the night's treat, which he never refused.

This Yao Zemin was infatuated with the beauties, rarely even visiting his own room. His wife, Lady Gui, was naturally promiscuous, and seeing her husband's behavior, how could she not make a fool of herself? Furthermore, the misdeeds of the women in wealthy households often stemmed from maids and servants. These people knew nothing of shame or chastity, only seeking to please their mistresses, acting as ringleaders and gossips. Through this relay of information, they led the way, resulting in his lewd acts. However, this also stemmed from the sins of the master. If the protagonist were a virtuous gentleman, and his wife, influenced by his teachings, were naturally virtuous and chaste, would those maids and servants dare to seduce him? It was only because Yao Zemin was a lecherous man that Gui Shi was naturally transformed into a lustful woman by him.

Su Xin and Xiang Er had been lustful to him since childhood; how could they not be? Qing Mei and Lü E had also been with him. But although Gui Shi had a bellyful of lustful desires, she was, after all, the daughter of an official. Moreover, she was young and had never tasted the pleasures of adultery [the pleasure is naturally sweet]. Having not yet lost her face, she still felt ashamed. Although these three maids had been used by their master, and he only used them occasionally, not daily, although he knew it was a delicacy, he had not yet fully experienced its wonders. And having spent all his time with his mistress, he had the desire but not the courage to indulge in lust. Only Su Xin, having been with her master for many years, deeply understood the secrets. Now that her master has fallen for a new lover and abandoned her, if she were like those three maids left alone in their secluded chambers, she could at least endure it. But every night she shares a bed with a husband who is all show and no substance. If food were placed before her mouth, would she not eat it? When it comes time to eat, it's like a ravenous person having a piece of meat, only allowed to savor its aroma but not to devour it; naturally, it only fuels her craving. She is often left with no pleasure by Wu Shi, which makes her even more distressed and desperate. She longs to find someone to rescue her, but she fears that if she were to sacrifice herself and find someone like her husband, wouldn't she be like a scoundrel who doesn't drink and is merely a figurehead? And she can't very well ask people, "How big is your penis?" How could she possibly utter such a question?

One day, when her genitals were in their prime and the Peach Blossom Star entered her palace, she got out of Gui's room, wanting to go home. Just as he reached the back of the hall, head down, lost in thought, he suddenly saw someone urinating. He paid attention and quickly glanced at the man's waist. [Looking at the waist before the person—a sign of a wanton woman.] He saw a hard, erect penis, even thicker and longer than Yao Zemin's. He was both surprised and delighted. Looking up, he saw it was Yao Yumin's eldest son, Yao Buwu, three years older than Yao Zemin. Although his father was foolish and dull, he was sharp-tongued, strange, lustful, and greedy—a trait he shared with his uncle. Su Xin, seeing his unusual member, looked at him and walked away with a grin. Yao Buwu, seeing this, knew she was envious, so he quickly caught up, wrapped his arms around her neck, and kissed her. Su Xin didn't utter a sound, just smiled and glanced sideways, then pushed his hand away and went home. Yao Buwu followed her into her room, grabbed her, pressed her onto the bed, and started pulling down her pants. Su Xin didn't refuse, only saying, "Oh dear, why are you being so forceful? This won't do, you've bumped into my man!" As she spoke, he pulled her down, saw her treasure, took out his penis, and thrust it in hard, halfway through. He said, "Slow down, you're too hasty to shove me like that. This won't do. The master has gone back today, let's go to the Buddhist hall, there's no one there. You go first, I'll be right back." Yao Buwu agreed, kissed her twice more, and slapped her a few more times before going first.

Su Xin rolled up her trousers, tucked a piece of cloth into her waistband, locked the door, and went to the entrance of the Buddhist hall. Seeing no one around, she took a few steps inside, bolted the door, and went in. Yao Buwu quickly took off his trousers, and Su Xin followed suit, lying back on the meditation bed. Yao Buwu climbed on top of her and began thrusting, reaching the hilt in a few strokes. They continued for about two mealtimes, during which Su Xin ejaculated two or three times. Yao Buwu also ejaculated. Su Xin took out the cloth, and they both wiped themselves clean before putting their trousers back on. Yao Buwu hugged her and said, "Thanks to your love, this good thing has come to fruition. I have another favor to ask of you. If you can do it for me, I'll make you some jewelry as a reward." Suxin said, "I don't want that. How can I answer my husband if he asks about it? You do have money to buy me some food, though." Yao Buwu said, "That's easy enough. [This woman has a sweet tooth from every angle.] I'll send it over." Suxin asked, "What do you want me to do?" Yao Buwu smiled and said, "I've seen how lovely Second Mistress is, and I've been eyeing her for a long time, but I haven't had a way to get her. You're her confidante, so please think of a way for me. If I can get her, I'll definitely..." "I will thank you again." Su Xin laughed, "You greedy devil, you've already stolen from me, and now you're going to steal from him too. If you steal from him, would you still care about me? I don't care about this matter." Yao Buwu kissed her on the lips and said, "My dear, if you succeed in helping me, you will be my benefactor. How could I forget you? I just want to taste what he's like. After it's done, I'll steal time every day to do my best to have sex with you. [The success of the matter is due to this sentence.] I will repay your kindness. If I can have sex with him once, I will definitely have sex with you twice. Is that alright?" Su Xin happily agreed. [Once upon a time, there was a man with a wife and a concubine. He slept with his wife for two nights and with the concubine for one night. His wife argued with him all day long. Someone advised, "You slept with her for two nights and she slept with him for one night. That's fair." The wife said, "My two nights were such and such, and his one night was such and such." Su Xin had never heard of this before. She smiled.] She added, "This matter depends on fate. It can't be rushed." The two of them came out and dispersed one after the other.

Do you think the monk worshipped in the Buddhist hall is a good person? This monk, with his benevolent face and kind eyes, pretends to be a living Buddha, but he is actually a wicked creature with a wolf's heart, indulging in wine and meat, and worshipping both men and women. He secretly keeps two women and seven or eight handsome disciples at Baoguo Temple, often taking pleasure in them. He is infatuated with his disciples and women, often returning home for a few days and then coming to Yao's house for a few more. He covets Yao Huazhou's clothes, money, and food all year round, so he has to come often. But at Yao's house, he eats only vegetables, and there is no one to keep him company at night. After two days, he goes home for his pleasure and then comes back again, and the two sides keep in touch.

Meanwhile, Su Xin, having been with Yao Buwu, has finally released her pent-up desire and feels quite refreshed. She had just entered the room when Yao Buwu brought her two strings of cash, saying, "Keep this for yourself. Tell me when you've used it up, and I'll bring you more." She happily accepted it and hid it away. Yao Buwu earnestly entrusted him with the matter again, and he readily agreed. Yao Buwu then left. Having accepted Yao Buwu's request, he planned to use the money to pay Yao Buwu a couple of thank-you gifts later. Suddenly, he came up with a plan, saying, "I must arouse his lust before I can make my move."

That evening, Suxin came up and slept in the west room with Xiang'er and Qingmei, while Lü'e was on night duty in Gui's room. After the three of them had slept for a while, Xiang'er asked him with a smile, "You have companions at home, why don't you go and enjoy them? Second Master isn't here either, why are you suffering this loneliness with us?" Suxin said, "I feel sorry for you all, you've been staying up late these days, I've come to have some fun with you and cool you down." Xiang'er laughed and said, "You're just like me, you need someone to cool you down, how can you cool us down?" Suxin said, "I naturally have a reason." She then reached out and touched Xiang'er's vulva, inserting a finger inside to probe and dig. Xiang'er laughed, "I know how to do this myself, no need for you to teach me. What's so fun about this?" Su Xin took out her hand and said, "Yes, try making something fun." She then got up, propped up his buttocks, and climbed on top of him. They bumped against each other, making a loud thumping sound, and then she rubbed him wildly, making Xiang'er feel intoxicated with lust. She giggled and said, "Oh no, it hurts inside, get off me." Su Xin didn't listen to her. After rubbing for a while, Xiang'er became very anxious. She hugged him tightly, calling out sweetly and affectionately. Her whole body went numb, and a lot of clear fluid flowed from her vagina. She couldn't stop laughing. Su Xin then climbed on top of Qing Mei. Qing Hai saw Xiang'er's appearance and became so aroused that his lustful fluids flowed freely. Seeing him on top, he stood on his hind legs and hugged him, calling out "My dear brother!" loudly. The three of them played around until midnight.

Now, when Lady Gui woke up, she suddenly heard laughter coming from the west room. She listened intently, but could only hear talking and laughing, unable to make out what they were saying. She wondered, "What are these girls having so much fun about?" Unable to guess, she got up the next morning to find everyone in the room serving her. Lady Gui asked, "What were you all doing last night? You were laughing and talking non-stop, keeping me awake all night." Xiang'er and Qingmei both looked at Suxin and smiled, and Suxin smiled back. Gui said, "Why aren't you answering your questions? What are you grinning about?" Xiang'er pointed at Suxin and said, "It was him who did it, Madam, just ask him." Gui asked Suxin, "What did you do?" Suxin, about to seduce her, smiled and said, "Last night I slept with both of them. They hadn't seen Second Master's thing for a long time, and they were burning with desire. They begged me to quell their fire. They enjoyed it very much, that's why they were laughing like that." Gui asked Xiang'er, "How did he do it that you enjoyed it so much?" Xiang'er said, "Madam, ignore him. He pressed down on me and started rubbing and kneading me, it was so uncomfortable, what enjoyment was there?" Suxin said, "Nothing." "Honestly, if you weren't enjoying it, why would you call me 'my darling brother'? If you weren't having fun, would you swear an oath?" Gui Shi laughed, "Are you really having fun?" Xiang'er said, "It's just that he made me so passionate, and in my excitement, my whole body went numb for a moment. Yes, I did." Gui Shi then asked Qingmei, "What about you?" Qingmei pouted and said, "Those two are so horny, taking turns pressing me down and rubbing me. I didn't enjoy it at all, and I wasn't having any fun. They rubbed me all night, and my nipples are all swollen. They still hurt now." Xiang'er laughed, "If you weren't having fun, there's a wet patch the size of an ice plate on the mattress under your buttocks. Where did that water come from?" Everyone laughed and talked for a while.

Gui Shi, a young woman in her twenties, used to have sex with Yao Zemin every night, but now it only happens once every few months. She was already extremely embarrassed, but she couldn't say it. After hearing these words, she couldn't hold back anymore. By the afternoon, none of the maids were around, only Su Xin was by her side. Gui chuckled softly and asked him, "Come to my room tonight to keep watch." Su Xin knew she was testing him and was secretly delighted. She secretly went to meet Yao Buwu. That evening, Gui called the three maids to the west room. Su Xin brought the bedding to the spring bench and helped Gui into bed. She blew out the lamp and said, "I'll go check if the courtyard gate is closed properly." [Her cunning is formidable.] She went out and secretly brought Yao Buwu into the room, where he slept on her bed. Just as he finished taking off his clothes, he heard Gui say, "Su Xin, come here." He hurried over, bent down, and quietly asked, "What did you say, Madam?" Gui smiled and said, "What did you and they get together last night?" Taking advantage of the conversation, Su Xin climbed onto the bed and said, "I'll play with Madam." She then touched him and found him completely naked. Su Xin lay on top of him, rubbing him for a long time until he was burning with desire, his juices flowing freely, and he was moaning incessantly, clearly in great pain. She said, "Grandma, don't move, I'll pee, and I'll make sure you get what you want." She then got off the bed, pulled Yao Buwu, and pushed him back onto the bed.

Yao Buwu rolled over, climbed onto her stomach, touched her wet vulva, and thrust his hard penis in and out. Gui Shi was in pain, waiting for him to rub her, when unexpectedly, something thick and long was inserted into her, causing her both surprise and joy. [Probably more joy than surprise.] She quickly touched it and found it was a man, hurriedly asking, "Who are you?" He didn't answer, just thrusting wildly, and after a few dozen thrusts, Gui Shi came. The man held her and increased his strength, and another chaotic struggle ensued, Gui Shi came again, but the man was slightly slower. Gui, breathing through the air, asked, "Suxin, who is he?" Suxin, standing by the bedside, replied, "This is the eldest master's husband. He often asks me to come and serve Grandma. I see Grandma all alone and lonely, so I brought him to keep her company." [Although this is similar to the story of Qi Xintong and Sunflower, their conversations are completely unrelated, a clever and subtle way of writing.] Gui had already been seduced, but so well, that there was nothing more to say. [At this point, things had gone badly, and there was nothing more to say.] Seeing her silence, Yao Buwu knew she was convinced and, regaining his power, continued for a while until both had ejaculated. [Yao Zemin was at Qiu's place, not with the concubines.] Yao Buwu said, "Thank you for your kindness, Aunt. I will come to serve you often from now on. But I cannot stay overnight. After the lamps are lit, I must return home in the middle of the night. I live across from my master, and I fear he might question me. Shall I go?" Gui, having broken her vow for the first time, was still somewhat ashamed and refused. Su Xin saw him out and locked the door, then returned to sleep. Gui Shi, having enjoyed this pleasure, slept until breakfast the next day. Looking at Su Xin, she couldn't stop smiling. Yao Buwu, having tasted the sweetness, came again the following night. They made love by lamplight. The two became familiar with each other, chatting and laughing, playfully kissing and smacking their lips. A few words describe the uncle and nephew:

The uncle embraced his stepmother with boundless joy; the nephew held his aunt with a thousand tender affections. The stepmother praised her son far more than your father; the aunt praised her nephew far more than your uncle. The uncle called his stepmother his darling thousands of times; the nephew called his aunt his beloved hundreds of times. Though it was a misfortune for his family, it was also the cycle of fate.

A month passed quickly. One day, Gui woke up from her afternoon nap and heard laughter coming from the west room. She quietly went to the window and peeked out, seeing Yao Buwu naked and making love with Xiang'er on a chair. Qin Xin, Qingmei, and Lü'e were all naked. Su Xin grabbed Yao Buwu's penis, preventing him from pulling away, and said with a laugh, "You two have been pounding around for a while, it's time to let me have my turn." Qingmei then hugged Su Xin around the waist, and Lü'e held her hand, laughing, "You're too ungrateful! You do it with him once or twice a day, while we've only done it three or four times this month. We should let the three of us have our turn!" Su Xin still wouldn't let go, and Xiang'er cried out anxiously, "Sisters, you two pull that shameless old man away, I'll do it a few more times for you!" They wrestled and laughed, creating a strange and beautiful scene, a scene even a skilled painter might not be able to depict. Gui Shi, watching with great interest, came in and pushed open the door. The others, still struggling, immediately let go when they saw her and ran behind the bed to get dressed. Xiang'er pushed Yao Buwu away and also ran behind the bed. Yao Buwu was in high spirits when he saw Gui Shi come to break up the fight. He rushed forward, grabbed her, and took her into her room. He undressed her, put her legs up on a chair, and they had a good time. The four of them also came to watch from outside the window. They saw Gui Shi with her eyes squinting, moaning, her buttocks swaying, and her waist twisting, looking extremely flirtatious. Xiang'er quietly asked Su Xin, "Is this how it is when we're doing it?" Su Xin laughed and said, "She's a little more refined and better looking than you guys." Lü E said, "It's not pleasant to watch. Let's go." So they all left. The two of them continued until the afternoon before stopping.

After some time, Gui Shi suddenly changed her mind. Why was that? Since ancient times, people have been insatiable. They want more after getting one, and they want more after getting life. Everyone is like that. When Gui Shi was suffering the other day, she often thought about how to find a way to vent her anger. She would be very lucky. When he first met Yao Buwu, he was quite satisfied, thinking it was a wonderful encounter. However, after several encounters, he suddenly developed extravagant desires, thinking, "This kind of thing requires two people to spend the whole night in bed together, talking about romance and telling jokes. When things get exciting, we can do it, and when we're tired, we can cuddle and sleep for a while. Only when we're in the mood can we do it again. That's what makes it fun. Yao Buwu is good, but he's always rushing around like he's doing something. He has to leave after we've done it, and when I wake up in the middle of the night, I'm still alone. I feel even more desolate. What kind of wonderful experience is that? How can I have someone to keep me company for a long time to satisfy my heart? I've never experienced the pleasure of adultery before, and I'm too shy to be shy. But today, when I'm with my nephew, it's like we're husband and wife. What's the shame? As long as I know he has a big thing, I'll have fun with him. Let's enjoy every night we can. If a stranger possesses me, I'll close my eyes and be shy for a while. What's there to be afraid of?" As he was thinking this, an opportunity came his way. Because Yao Zemin committed adultery with his stepmother and father's concubine, his evil deeds were so numerous that even ghosts and humans secretly believed his wife's adultery as retribution. [These are all examples of using adultery to illustrate a point.]

One day, Gui called to Suxin, "My pillow is old. Go to the stable and gather some straw to make a new one." Suxin took a winnowing basket and went, returning a moment later laughing and tumbling back. Seeing that he hadn't even taken the grass, and was flushed and panting, Gui asked in surprise, "You went to get the grass, why did you come back like this?" He laughed and said, "Don't tell me. When I got to the stable door, it was closed. I pushed it open and went in, and to my surprise, that beheading Shengwang was stripped naked and squatting there picking lice. His thing was so big and thick, a huge lump dragging on the ground. I was so scared that I ran so fast I almost tripped. My heart is still pounding." Gui glanced at him with a smile and said, "You're so carefree. Haven't you ever seen such a thing before? No matter how big it is, even a young maiden wouldn't be so frightened." "Like that," Su Xin said. "Oh dear, Grandma, you haven't seen how long it is, it's so ugly. It's not just longer than Second Master's, it's even longer than First Master's by an inch or so. If Grandma saw it, she would be shocked." Gui Shi was tempted and laughed, "Silly woman, if you're afraid, don't look at it. It's not easy to find something like this, you can try it with it. Close your eyes and let it stuff inside you, then you won't be afraid. Be bold and go for it." Su Xin laughed, "Alright, alright, Grandma can be someone else, I dare not provoke it. I'll keep my intestines, it would be a blessing if it broke in one go." She chuckled for a while and left. Gui Shi thought to herself, "I've met both of them, uncle and nephew, they're about the same size, how come this woman says it's so big and scary? I think our thing is like a pocket, it can hold a lot or a little. A man's thing is naturally the bigger the better, if I can get it in, we can have fun all night long. But it's just a servant, I'm embarrassed." She lowered her head and thought for a while. Suddenly he spat and said, "Loyal ministers serve their enemies, and virtuous women lose their chastity; all are ruined by this one thought." And with that spit, he said... “The man is heartless, he abandoned me for his stepmother and stepmother, what do I have to fear? I’ll be happy anyway. Let’s call him over, if things go well, that’s fate. If it gets too out of hand, we’ll figure something out later. Su Xin is timid and useless, I’ll coax Xiang’er to take the lead.” She then called Xiang’er into the room and whispered, “I’m asking you to do something easy, if you succeed, you’ll be happy afterwards. Go to the stables and get some hay to stuff your pillow. See Sheng Wang, and if no one’s around, quietly tell him to call him over after midnight when everyone is quiet. Don’t be late. Give him a hundred coins from under the bed and tell him to take a bath. When he comes at night, wait at the door and welcome him in. If the master is in my room, lead him to wait in the west room, I have something to say. If he tries to do anything with you then, test his skills and come back to me.” Xiang’er accepted this wonderful task, her face beaming with joy. She took the winnowing basket, pocketed the money, and left.

When they arrived at the stable, Shengwang, having finished picking lice, was lounging on the bed. Seeing her, he sat up and smiled, "What do you need, sister?" Xiang'er replied, "Second Mistress told me to fetch some grass to stuff into my pillow." Shengwang quickly took the winnowing basket, filled it with grass, and said, "Please take this." Xiang'er took out some money and gave it to him, saying, "This is a reward from Second Mistress." Shengwang exclaimed in surprise, "The grass is for feeding the horses in Master's mansion. Why am I being rewarded with money for grass?" Xiang'er smiled and said, "I've told you about a truly great thing. How will you thank me?" Shengwang said, "I'm just a poor man; what can I thank you for? If it's really good, I'll just kowtow for you." Xiang'er laughed, "Who cares about your kowtow? Give me your ear, I'll tell you." She then whispered to him, "Second Mistress is giving you this money so you can take a bath and get thoroughly clean. After midnight, when everyone is quiet, she'll call you in, and I'll come out to meet you. There's a great benefit for you. Let's see how you thank me then!" Shengwang was overjoyed; he couldn't believe his eyes. He grabbed him and laughed, "You don't care about my big bow of thanks, I'll thank you with a small one. [That's enough, what more could I ask for?] There's nothing else." He then pulled him onto the bed. Xiang'er didn't refuse, but said, "Are you afraid someone will come?" Shengwang said, "They've all gone to release the horses, they won't be back until tonight. I'm alone, no one else will come." He quickly closed the door and helped him take off his pants. Xiang'er said, "I'm afraid you'll be waiting for my reply, so just take off one pant leg." Shengwang did as he was told, taking off one pant leg, and at a glance, he saw a plump, round vulva. This young man of twenty-four or twenty-five, his penis was hard and erect, thick and long. When Xiang'er saw it, she said, "Oh my, how did you get here with such a big thing?" She was about to get up, but Shengwang quickly held her down, saying, "Don't be afraid, I guarantee you'll be fine." Xiang'er was both afraid and fond of him at this moment, and only said, "Be careful, look carefully, my intestines are important." She spread her legs, closed her eyes, and listened to what he did. Although Shengwang was anxious, he dared not be reckless. He swayed his head left and right at the entrance of Xiang'er's vulva, drawing out some fluid, and then slowly inserted it. As he pushed it in, Xiang'er cried out. Shengwang thrust in and out a dozen times, and Xiang'er cried out a dozen times, until there was nothing left. Xiang'er felt full inside, experiencing pleasure without pain. She touched herself and found that it was all the way in, and only then did she feel relieved. Seeing that she was alright, Shengwang relaxed and began to tug at it haphazardly. He had never used this before, and he ejaculated after only a few dozen thrusts. Xiang'er, having never encountered such a large object before, was still lost in the process. He sat up, pulling on his pants, and said to Shengwang, "Your thing is growing, but it's too fast. I'm afraid it won't please Grandma." Shengwang replied, "To tell you the truth, I don't have a family. I only get a quick turn when there's a wife out there shoveling horse manure. Otherwise, I don't see her at all. I finish quickly because I've been waiting a long time. If I do it often, I still have the ability to finish in a couple of hours. You'll see at night that it won't be this fast."

Xiang'er brought the grass up, and Gui Shi, seeing his disheveled hair and beaming face, knew he had come after enjoying a delicious meal. She asked with a smile, "How does it compare to your grandfather and the eldest son?" Xiang'er laughed, "The eldest is indeed thicker and better, but he's very fast. I asked him, and he said it's because he's been waiting a long time. If it's done often, he could even have more skills. He told Grandma Xie to reward him, and he'll definitely come to serve me tonight." Gui Shi asked with a smile, "Is it really that big and unsightly? What's it like when it's inside?" Xiang'er laughed, "It certainly doesn't look good at first glance, but once it's inside, it's fine." Gui Shi was secretly delighted, constantly coming out to look at the sunlight. She waited until the lamps were lit before going to bed and undressing. Just then, Yao Buwu came by. Unable to refuse, she had to do it with him for a while, her body there but her mind elsewhere. Just as the night was drawing to a close, Yao Buwu left. Xiang'er came and said, "Shengwang has been here for a while; he's in that room." Gui said, "It's embarrassing to leave the lamp lit; blow it out and bring him here." It turned out that Shengwang was in that room, taking turns making love with Qingmei, Lü'e, and Xiang'er. Xiang'er came to call him, and he followed her naked, carrying his clothes, to the bedside. Xiang'er said, "You can go now." He handed the clothes to Xiang'er, climbed onto the bed, lifted the covers, and touched Gui, who was lying naked on her back. He climbed on top of her and said, "Thanks to your grace, Grandmother, I am here to serve you." Gui couldn't agree. He felt her opening was wet and slippery, and inserted his penis. With Yao Buwu's remaining semen inside, it was extremely slippery, and he reached the root in just a couple of strokes. Gui felt the deep inside pressing against her, which was very interesting. He continued to thrust, pounding and pumping, feeling even more pleasure. Shengwang, who had lived for over twenty years, had only ever enjoyed himself with those ugly, rough women shoveling horse manure on haystacks. He had never experienced anything like this. Now, nestled in a brocade quilt, embracing this delicate, fragrant beauty, his desire was a hundredfold greater, and he could not easily ejaculate. Guishi had first heard Xiang'er say he was very fast and was afraid he would stop and spoil the mood, but unexpectedly, he had ejaculated over a thousand times in one go, making her heart flutter and her soul fly away, and she lost control several times. She had never experienced such pleasure before, and her whole body was weak. Holding her neck, she said in a sweet voice, "You are so skilled, I can't take it anymore, you should rest." Shengwang stopped and made a few jokes: "

My penis is thick and strong, like the handle of a guillotine. My pubic hair is stiff and strong, like straw. Ying Feizi of the Zhou Dynasty, who herded horses and multiplied them, was honored with a title by the emperor; Sheng Houcao of the Yao family, who was good at raising horses, was favored by his mistress. Wang Liang could only drive a carriage back then; Shengwang today is even better at riding in the quilt." Miss Gui was so captivated that she whispered to the groom, Sheng Wang, to stop riding.

She told him to get down and lie down with her on the new pillow. [A story I happened to recall: Zhou Kui, the father of Empress Zhou during the reign of Emperor Chongzhen of the Ming Dynasty, was a lowly bricklayer. He was commissioned to build a mansion, but the work was too arduous. He sighed, "We've worked so hard, who will benefit from living here?" Later, Emperor Chongzhen ascended the throne and made Empress Zhou his wife. Her father, Kui, was then given this mansion to live in. Sheng Wang, while laboriously cutting grass, could never have imagined sharing a pillow with her.] She said, "I've given you my body. From now on, I'll just have Xiang'er call you, and you'll come. I'll secretly take care of you." Sheng Wang said, "I am deeply grateful for your kindness, Grandmother. I could never repay you enough, even if I gave my life. I can only do my best to serve you and fulfill my filial duty." Miss Gui truly loved him. She made love to him several times that night, only letting him go at dawn. Afterwards, she would call him every two or three nights and often reward him with some money.

Several days later, Su Xin learned of the situation and saw Xiang'er and the other two with joyful and charming expressions. He thought that since Gui Shi had tried it and was unharmed, he realized that the bigger the thing, the better, and it was nothing to fear. He deeply regretted his mistake the day before. He went to the stable and said to Sheng Wang, "I was the one who saw you that day and praised you to Grandma, which led to this wonderful encounter. I'm the one who started it all, shouldn't you thank me?" Sheng Wang was also happy to oblige and thanked him profusely. He kept inquiring, but whenever Xiang'er went to meet Sheng Wang, he would go upstairs to stay overnight to enjoy the aftermath. Gui Shi asked him with a smile, "Why aren't you afraid now?" He laughed and said, "Who knew that this thing looks scary but is actually not scary? From now on, I'm bold, and I won't be afraid of even a donkey that's big anymore." Gui Shi laughed heartily for a while. After Gui Shi and Sheng Wang had their way with each other that night, the two talked as they slept. Gui, holding his penis, laughed and said, "Is there anything as big as his?" Shengwang replied, "I don't pay attention to others, but the master often goes to the stable to relieve himself. I've seen it with my own eyes. Although he's only slightly longer than me, he's thicker when he's soft than when he's hard. He's probably as thick as a donkey's when he's hard." Gui took this to heart and the next day thought to herself, "Shengwang enjoyed it a few times, but after many times, it's nothing special. If it were thicker and bigger, it would be quite wonderful. My family has been supporting this monk every day for years, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to use him as a servant." After thinking for a while, she said, "Xiang'er is too young; she can't do this. Unless we provoke Suxin, who is extremely lewd, we have to do it this way and that. No matter what kind of true monk he is, we're not afraid he won't break his vows." She called Suxin over and said, "I have another task for you. Are you even worse than Xiang'er?" Su Xin said, "Grandma always says I'm not even as good as him. It's true what they say, 'A mother is not as good as her grandson, and a radish is not as good as a vegetable root.' Gui Shi laughed, 'You were afraid when I asked you to go the other day, but he did it.' Su Xin said, 'That's because I was startled first, hence my timidity. I'm not afraid now.' Gui Shi laughed, 'Sheng Wang said the head chef's thing is much thicker and bigger than his. I want to bring him here to see. If you do as I say, it will definitely work. If you're not ruthless enough, things won't go well. You'll have to put your pants over your face to see me.' Su Xin also laughed, 'I'll go, I'll go! If I don't bring that bald donkey here, I'll fight him to the death!'" "

Now, let's talk about the monk Wanyuan. He stayed at the Yao family's house for ten days out of the month. One evening after dinner, he sat alone under the lamp, reading a novel called 'The Lampwick Monk.' [This was the kind of novel monks read.] He was burning with lust, his penis throbbing painfully, and his saliva was constantly dripping from his mouth. Just as he was feeling helpless, he suddenly heard a knock at the door. He went to open it and saw a woman in the shadows, carrying a box in one hand and a wine pot in the other. She came in and said, 'Master, close the door.' Wanyuan, not knowing what was going on, bolted the door and went inside with her. Under the lamplight, he recognized her as Suxin and said, 'Sister-in-law, what brings you here at this hour? What do you have with you?' Suxin put down the wine pot, opened the lid, and revealed several exquisitely prepared meat dishes. She said, 'Second Madam said that Master is sitting quietly here by himself, and asked me to bring these dishes for Master to enjoy at night.'" "Then Wan Yuan sat cross-legged and said, 'Amitabha, this humble monk is a Buddhist disciple and never eats the five pungent vegetables or the three forbidden foods. Quickly take it away, don't defile the Buddhist hall.' [A true monk is never pretentious; a pretentious person is never a true monk.] Su Xin plopped down next to him, facing his face, and laughed, 'Master, who are you fooling? What monk doesn't eat meat and drink alcohol, or crawl through dog holes? Second Madam kindly sent some; please accept some.' She then poured a cup of wine and brought it to his lips.

Wan Yuan smelled the fragrant aroma and couldn't help but drool. He barely managed to hold it in and declined, saying, 'Bodhisattva, the first precept for monks is to abstain from alcohol. This humble monk dares not accept it. Although there are those unworthy people who eat meat and drink alcohol and crawl through dog holes, Buddha, they are committing evil deeds themselves. How could this humble monk emulate them?'" Seeing his pretentious act, Su Xin put one arm around his neck and poured the wine into his mouth with the other. Wan Yuan, who was already feeling a bit unbearable, took the opportunity to swallow it down, saying, "Bodhisattva, this disciple has broken his vows today." Qin Xin then placed a piece of Jinhua ham on his plate, but he said, "Buddha, the wine is fine, but I really dare not accept this." Su Xin said, "I ask you, you monks always talk about Buddha, but when you see a woman's...things, you probably don't even care about Buddha anymore." Wan Yuan said, "Namo Buddha, there are monks like that. As for me, this poor monk is like withered wood and dead ashes, my heart is like iron and stone, I will not be moved." Su Xin laughed, "Indeed, stretch out your hand, and I'll slap you. If I tempt you and you are still unmoved, then you are a living Buddha. If you can't resist, then you can acknowledge me as your mother." Wan Yuan said, "This poor monk can resist." "Just as he stretched out his hand, Xiangxin grabbed his wrist. He hadn't been wearing pants, and she rubbed his hand against his genitals a few times, saying, 'Can you hold it in?' Wanyuan quickly pulled his hand back, but Suxin suddenly reached under his crotch and found a penis standing erect like an iron pestle. [This is a true monk demonstrating his skills.] He grabbed his pants and laughed, 'What's this? Bald monk, what are you pretending for? If this little bald monk is hard like this, how hard can you, the big bald monk, be? Quickly kowtow and acknowledge me as your mother.' She released his hand, straddled him, and kissed him on the neck."

Wan Yuan could no longer pretend to hold back. He laughed, "My mother, let me defile you now." He laid Su Xin down, took out his penis, and thrust it into her vagina several times before finally penetrating her. Su Xin laughed, "So that's why you bald donkeys are called bald monks, you really do have such a big donkey penis." She laughed and said, "My luck is bad today, how could I be fucked by a donkey?" Wan Yuan laughed and thrust several times until he reached the root, pulling hard. Su Xin felt it was even more exquisite than Sheng Wang's, and kept saying, "Good monk, good true monk, good master, good bald donkey, no wonder women love to find monks." They did this for about an hour. Su Xin said, "I've had enough, stop now, I have something to tell you." Wan Yuan thrust hard a few more times, and Su Xin cried out a few times before he ejaculated. "What is it you want to say?" asked Su Xin. After resting for a while, she sat up and laughed, "Aren't you afraid of defiling the Buddhist hall?" He laughed, "Buddha is in the Western Paradise. He is very compassionate. He doesn't care about our trivial matters. Have you ever heard the monks and nuns singing at the assembly: 'The great Bodhisattva, the small Bodhisattva, they are all raised by their parents.'" Su Xin laughed again, "Have you abstained from meat and alcohol? If not, I'll eat and talk with you." Wan Yuan laughed and pulled him to sit opposite him in his lap. They put their bodies together and began to move while drinking and eating meat.

Su Xin told him her purpose. It was Second Madam who had asked her to meet him. Gui Shi went to the Buddhist hall to burn incense on the first and fifteenth of each month. Wan Yuan had seen her many times and had been in love with her for several years. Hearing this, he was overjoyed and exclaimed, "What a stroke of luck!" He quickly downed his wine in one gulp. He said, "Let's go quickly. Don't keep him waiting and disappoint him." Su Xin dismounted, and the two stood up. The monk pulled up his trousers, Su Xin closed the box, took the wine pot, and walked away. Wan Yuan came out, closed the door, put an arm around Gui's shoulder, and went to Gui's room.

Gui had sent Su Xin away when the lamps were lit, then washed herself and went to bed, her eyes fixed on the clan festival flag, her ears listening for good news. She hadn't received a reply for a long time, knowing the two of them were up to something. Her desire surged, her juices flowed freely, and she stared intently at the door. After a while, she suddenly saw two figures in the lamplight. Looking closely, she saw the master jump onto the bed, take off his clothes, and slip under the covers. Su Xin turned the lamp up bright and went out, closing the door behind her. Wan Yuan quickly undressed Gui, cupped her face in his hands, kissed her twice, and said, "Thank you for not abandoning me, Madam. I don't know how many lifetimes I've cultivated to be able to be close to your body today. It truly suits my Dharma name. I have immense good fortune to have met Madam's treasure." As he spoke, he thrust his hard penis wildly into her crotch. But Gui's vulva was swollen with fluid, slipping and sliding, unable to penetrate. Gui Shi, aroused by his thrusts, was overcome with lust. Not seeing penetration, she hastily reached into her vagina. Wan Yuan pushed his glans in, taking advantage of the fluid, and thrust several times to the root. The bald man was easy to handle, sometimes deep, sometimes shallow, sometimes tight, sometimes slow, relentlessly pounding. Gui Shi's vagina, already filled with the size of his member, was experiencing countless pleasures. His methods, surpassing those of others, had never been like this before. She was aroused, waking and waking in a state of ecstasy, climaxing several times. Her voice trembled as she pleaded repeatedly before he finally stopped, still unwilling to pull out. Gui Shi rested for a while, just catching her breath, when Wan Yuan began to thrust again. Gui laughed, "I'm completely weak, I can't take any more. Let's stop tomorrow night." Wan Yuan laughed, "Since you've invited me, I'll wait until he's drunk and full before I'll appreciate it. If you stop now, it's like offering alms to a monk who isn't full; you might as well bury him alive and ask you to give me more alms." He was about to pull at her when Gui opened her mouth, stuck out her tongue, and said, "Good master, I really can't take it anymore. I've called the maids over, you can do it with them all, then come and do it with me, and you can have your fill." Seeing her coquettish state, Wan Yuan was extremely fond of her and couldn't bear to do it anymore, nodding in agreement. Gui called out breathlessly, "Xiang'er, come here." It turned out that the four of them had been listening outside the door, and upon hearing the call, they all came in together. Gui said to Wan Yuan, "You go down."

Wan Yuan jumped off the bed, grabbed Xiang'er, took off her clothes, pressed her down on the chair, and began to thrust. They were all soaked with lustful fluids, and he easily penetrated her without any effort. Wan Yuan and Xiang'er were playing around, and Wan Yuan said to the three of them, "You all take off your clothes and wait, I'll take care of you one by one." The three of them then took off their clothes. Wan Yuan took turns playing with them, starting from the second watch of the night and continuing until the first beat of the fifth watch. He was about to ejaculate, so he rolled onto the bed and had another round of passionate lovemaking with Gui Shi before finally ejaculating inside her. Gui Shi had watched this live sex show for half the night, and her vagina felt like it was being gnawed by maggots. He had made her weak in the knees and her muscles weak, as if she were ascending to heaven. Su Xin and the other three were also satisfied and content.

After Gui Shi had met Wan Yuan, when Yao Buwu and Sheng Wang came to play with her again, it was like eating scallops; she could no longer bear to chew on butcher meat. Yao Zemin enjoyed his stepmother and stepmother, neglecting Gui Shi for a long time, but he never showed the slightest anger or uttered a word of complaint. On the contrary, he saw that she was more radiant and smiling than before, and he thought that she was a virtuous woman who did not care about sex, and he was secretly happy. Little did she know that he was seeking something extremely large and exquisite, never tiring of it, thus discarding her husband like worn-out shoes.

One night, Wan Yuan was in bed with Gui Shi. He sat up against the pillows, had Gui Shi straddle him, and then, facing him, he put his penis on, mimicking the posture of a lama offering a joyful meditation. As they were getting into it, Xiang'er, Qingmei, and Lü'e came running in, laughing and tumbling. Gui Shi laughed and scolded, "You three little sluts, are you crazy? What are you laughing about at this hour?" Xiang'er said, "We have something to ask the master." Wan Yuan asked, "What do you want to ask?" Xiang'er said, "We were just joking outside. I said a man's thing is made of tendons, Qingjie insisted it's skin, and Lüjie insisted it's flesh. We made a bet, so we've come to ask the master to see who's right." As Wan Yuan and Gui Shi continued their act, they recited a verse: "

The three of them don't need to be so forceful, their descriptions are all quite similar. When hard, it's pure tendon; when soft, it's just skin." "Hey, everyone, look closely, and there's a lump of flesh on the bald head!"

The three maids laughed so hard they stumbled out, while Gui Shi, laughing so hard she couldn't keep up with the fleshy saddle and fell off the donkey, lying on the bed, rubbing her belly and laughing. Wan Yuan, seeing Gui Shi lying on her back laughing, lifted her legs to do it. Gui Shi quickly covered her vulva with her hands, saying, "You have to recite a verse before I allow you to do it." Wan Yuan laughed and said: "

The gate of my birth, the door of my death, everyone says it's the place of soul-stirring pleasure. The old monk enters casually, crashing into the deep ravine of bewitching souls. Hey, relying on my power, I've entered and exited thousands of times, the beauty's path to the Blue Bridge has risen. Hearing this, the crowd, with their hair and horns, are like Yama

, the King of Hell, let's find pleasure here." After saying this, he raised his little monk and crashed in, leaving Gui Shi paralyzed on the brocade mattress to rest. After that, Wan Yuan, Yao Buwu, and Sheng Wang, at Gui Shi's behest, took turns inviting her to the room for pleasure, which need not be described further.

Now, Yao Zemin was busy with his affairs inside the palace, while Gui Shi was busy outside, and they had been doing this for several years. Gui Shi's luck was

at its peak, while Yao Zemin's luck was about to leave the palace. Why was this? After Yao Huazhou went to Guangxi, in the seventh year of the Tianqi reign, the emperor suddenly remembered him and asked his ministers, "Yao Huazhou has been in Guangxi for several years. He is now nearly eighty years old. Does he have any sons?" Someone who knew replied, "He has two sons." The Tianqi Emperor summoned him. He saw that the eldest son was about fifty years old and pedantic. The younger son, around thirty years old, bore a striking resemblance to his father. When the Emperor asked their names, the elder son remained silent, but the younger son bowed and said, "My elder brother's name is Yao Yumin, and mine is Yao Zemin." The Emperor turned to Yao Zemin and said, "Your father has been gone for several years; as his son, you should go and see him. Go there now and see how his health is. Is he still as good as before? Report back quickly. Your brother is foolish and mediocre, only fit to be a doorman. You will inherit your father's title someday." The two brothers accepted the decree, kowtowed in gratitude, and left. This was a matter of receiving an imperial edict, and they dared not delay, so they chose a day to depart. Yao Zemin's first love was wine; he would drink anything, whether it was distilled liquor or fine wine. His second love was the word "wine" itself; he couldn't bear to be separated from his wife even for a night. This time, he was traveling by land to visit his family, and dared not bring his wife along. He was used to spending his days with women at home, and now, seeing the common people like a tiger, how could he possibly endure it? Although he had two male servants with him, the experience was completely different from that of a woman. He knew that any prostitutes he encountered on the road, though they might have a semblance of human form, were likely to have a hole in their waists; he was determined to test them out. What decent prostitutes or brothels were there on the main streets? He was merely loosening his muscles, not truly seeking pleasure.

Upon arriving in Nanjing, he stayed temporarily at an inn outside the Shuixi Gate. He summoned the innkeeper and asked, "Are there any famous prostitutes in the city these days?" The innkeeper replied, "The prostitutes these days are all quite ordinary. There's a blind woman named Qian Gui, however, who is truly exceptional in both looks and talent. But I've heard that she hasn't been taking any customers lately; I wonder why." Yao Zemin said, "She's just putting on airs because she has a reputation. If we give her a few more taels of silver, I'm afraid she won't accept it." He then inquired about her lodgings. Overjoyed, he brought a dozen servants, dressed in fine clothes and riding a fine horse, to Qian Gui's house.

Since parting ways with Zhong Sheng, Qian Gui had refused to receive any guests, claiming only illness. Hao Shi tried to persuade him several times, but he stubbornly refused. Since there were no wealthy or powerful elderly people to help, Hao Shi tolerated it. One day, Qian Gui was sitting by the window when Yao Zemin inquired about his home, knocked on the door, and entered. He immediately recognized her; indeed, she was a beautiful woman. Hao Shi hurriedly greeted her, saying, "Sir, what brings you to my humble abode?" A servant said, "Our master's surname is Yao; he is the second son of the Marquis of Zhenxi. He admires your daughter's reputation and has come to wish to be with her." Hao Shi said, "My daughter is ugly and has been ill recently; I fear she cannot accompany you." Yao Zemin said, "You merely want to gain some status by virtue of your daughter's fame and ask for a few more taels of silver. Why refuse? I only intend to have two nights with her and then leave; I will not treat you poorly." He then ordered a servant to fetch fifty taels of silver and handed it to Hao Shi. He smiled broadly and said, "Please sit down, sir. I'll go discuss this with my daughter." He told the maid to prepare the wine and food, and then went to Qian Gui's room.

Qian Gui was at the window when he heard someone coming in and talking. He quickly stepped aside and sat on the edge of the bed. Hearing that someone wanted to patronize him, he was furious. Hao Shi entered and said, "My son, this is a young nobleman passing through. He's heard of you and has come to visit. He's only staying two nights and is giving you a silver ingot. Such a good man! Why don't you help your mother earn these few taels of silver?" Qian Gui angrily replied, "I will never again dishonor myself, Mother. Don't be delusional. If you insist on taking these few taels of silver, I will fight to the death!" Hao Shi was furious and said, "I've never heard of a woman from a respectable family remaining chaste. Even if a woman from a good family wants to remain chaste, she will wait until her husband dies before she does." "You're just waiting for someone to come and see you. I raised you all this time, and I'm relying on you for my old age. If you don't take customers, do you expect me to support you for the rest of my life? I only hesitated to hit you because you're my own daughter. If you continue to be stubborn, I'll offer you a whip." Qian Gui said, "Mother, don't mention the whip. Even if there's a boiling pot in front of me or a saw behind me, I won't be afraid." Hao Shi became even angrier and said, "Fine, since you're such a rebellious child, it's either you or me who dies. I'll give you a good beating so you'll know what's what." She viciously reached for the whip. Qian Gui said, "Mother, don't be angry. Since you love money more than people, what use is my life to you?" He shouted, "Fine, fine, I'll give you my life back." Suddenly, he slammed his head against the ground, his forehead and nose were broken, his face was covered in blood, and he fainted. Fortunately, the steward was nearby and quickly pulled him up, preventing him from being seriously injured. Hao Shi saw that things were not going well and didn't dare to make a sound. After a while, she saw that Qian Gui had woken up and was relieved.

Startled, he hurriedly came out and returned the silver, saying, "My daughter refuses to accompany me, and I am unworthy of your generous reward, sir." Yao Zemin, seeing the money, was very fond of it. Seeing that he refused, he became anxious and threatened, "Am I, a young master of a noble family, coming to you? Do you think I would defile you? Obey me properly, or I'll take you to the authorities for severe punishment. Or I'll have my servants strip this filthy whore naked and hold her down, and I'll take her by force. What can you do about it then? There's no crime of rape in the Great Ming Code." "The crime of adultery." Qian Gui also angrily said, "A common man's will cannot be taken away. Don't think that just because you are a marquis's son, or even an emperor's son, my head may be cut off but my will cannot be changed. If you want to commit robbery and adultery, I will give my life for you." He ordered the steward to fetch a pair of scissors, took them in his hand, and said, "Go back now. If you force me again, I will slit my throat and die. You are powerful, and my mother can do nothing to you. I will become a vengeful ghost to avenge this hatred." Hao was afraid that her daughter would really cause trouble. He pleaded, "My daughter is unlucky enough not to be favored by noblemen. Besides, there are plenty of beautiful prostitutes out there. Sir, please find another one." Yao Zemin was about to use his power to intimidate him when an experienced old steward said, "This was originally meant to be amusement, but it's probably not going to be fun anymore. Besides, you're here on imperial orders to visit your family. If someone dies while you're patronizing prostitutes, the Emperor will find out, and the consequences will be dire. You'd better go back and find someone else to please." Yao Zemin thought he had a point, so he had his servant take the money, cursing under his breath, and left sullenly. When he

got to the inn, he took in the famous Xia Jin'er from the old courtyard, and a prostitute named Yan who had just arrived from Jiangxi. [These two are mentioned together here, but Huan E mentioned them again later, so it's not just a random name.] He patronized them for two nights and then left. Qian Gui's facial sores took more than a month to heal. He sat alone behind closed doors, not even going near the window. From then on, Hao Shi never dared to force him to take in any more customers. Whenever someone came, they would feign illness, refusing to serve customers because the price was too high. What became of them? As for Yao Zemin's trip to Guangxi, when would he return? Later, everyone naturally returned with his whereabouts.

Now, let's talk about Wu He's wife, Ying. Her father, Ying Yang, was an actor from Kunshan County. Her mother, Yin, learned many female roles from her father. Ying Yang was disabled and could no longer perform, unable to earn a living. Although Yin could sing, how could she allow him to perform in their hometown? Even her family wouldn't allow it. Although Yin had a means of earning money through her connections, she couldn't openly engage in such illicit business. She had made a couple of close friends, but due to gossip in the neighborhood, they couldn't stay there any longer and moved to Nanjing. Hearing of a court official named Ruan Dacheng who was a great admirer of female actors, she became his protégé. They had a daughter, nicknamed Jiaojiao, who married Wu He.
