In Chapter 4 of Episode 7, the knife-throwing man

completely ignored all the notices and signs, pushed open the door, and shoved me inside.

"The most dangerous person, why aren't you hiding?" she commanded, yet she remained by the door, locking it.

"Watch out!" A flash of silver light appeared in the distance, and I immediately pulled her aside. Instantly, with a "click!", the metal lock under the doorknob fell off.

Looks like her knife skills are terrifyingly accurate…

"The door and windows are all glass; no matter how you lock it, he'll find a way in. That just tells us he doesn't want too much trouble." I tossed the souvenir bag against the wall and pulled her to find a hiding place.

This time she didn't say anything, quietly letting me lead her wherever I wanted.

The alien creature exhibition hall, to put it bluntly, is an exhibition hall that uses wax to create various strange creatures that don't exist in this world, paints them with suitable colors, and poses them in different terrifying poses to scare young children.

Unlike haunted houses, the wax figures here don't move. The park has even put up information boards for each monster, introducing its race, home planet, personality, and so on.

Even though the exhibition hall isn't currently operating, a chill still wafts from the basement.

"It's so dark..." Feng Hua gripped my hand tightly, hesitating as I prepared to go down the stairs.

"It'll be even darker after you die." I didn't mean to scare her, but to accept a place she didn't like, there had to be an even worse option pushing her from behind.

She glared at me.

Death was guarding behind her, and the anger caused by my jinx made her legs move without hesitation.

"Where was Fei Yue when you called her?" I asked in a low voice.

"The amusement park, I guess? I only heard people talking and the machines running." Feng Hua said uncertainly.

If she was in the amusement park, it would take at least a few minutes to get here.

"By the way, I haven't told Fei Yue we're hiding here yet."

The cultural area is so big; to rescue her, we need to find her first. Feng Hua pulled out her phone, intending to notify Fei Yue again, when a lightning-fast throwing knife pierced the screen instantly.

"Run!" With only half the stairs left, I immediately quickened my pace.

The enemy was already behind us; he had only been silently following us, likely unable to pinpoint our exact location in the darkness.

Although the phone was only on for two seconds, that was enough for him to see our situation, so he preferred to destroy the phone to let us know someone was behind us rather than let Feng Hua tell us the correct location of our reinforcements.

I hurried down the stairs, not daring to delay.

The man's throwing knife technique was increasingly astonishing—hitting a light source in such darkness might be a piece of cake for him, but before destroying the screen, the knife had to pass between Feng Hua and me, and avoid Feng Hua's right hand holding the phone.

This might sound simple, but we were running. To be so accurate in the dim light, it seemed he could easily take my life even in the most crowded amusement park.

I pulled Feng Hua, who had dropped her phone in fright, and ran down the stairs. There was a safety door, but I didn't have time to close it. I just haphazardly pushed over the nearby clutter, trying to slow down the knife throwers.

The basement was designed similarly to the upstairs, used to introduce the fictional alien history and ecology. The windows, display stands, interactive machines, and props were mostly set up, but the decoration was only half done; exposed pipes and wires were visible under the wooden platforms.

But I didn't care anymore, and just ripped off a "Nokoana" planet and piled it at the entrance.

"Come help me!" I shouted.

But by then, Feng Hua had already uprooted the "Treira Mountain," the polystyrene symbol of the "Sisiri" planet.

"The female warrior..." I exclaimed, secretly pressing the black button in my pocket. A

"bang!" came from Feng Hua's side, making me deeply understand what "Mount Tai pressing down" meant.

"There's nothing usable here!" she roared.

Without the sacred mountain, the "Sisiri" planet immediately became insignificant. Even if ancient civilizations had creatures like Tyrannosaurus Rex before they began, in scale, they'd just be tiny silicone monsters barely taller than a calf.

"I'll hold them off for a bit, you hurry and look around!"

Luckily, "Nokoana" is a famously giant planet in the universe. After scaling, the Nokoana inhabitants are about my height, and the planet's volcanoes, houses, and weapons can all be put to use.

"Got it." Feng Hua jumped off the display stand and opened the cabinet below, but it only contained wires and dust.

"Hurry up!"

I was piling things up here, while the knife thrower was dismantling things. The trash looked huge, but it was actually quite light. The items in the display case were limited, and if she didn't hurry, I wouldn't be able to hold them off for much longer!

"Found it!" came her excited whisper from the other end. She opened a broken cabinet used by workers in the corner and brought over two cans of paint.

"Great..." I felt like I was about to be defeated by her, but I still said it.

Well, at least it increased my disgust.

"Quick, here you go." She put the paint cans on the ground, turned around, and ran back to the cabinet to rummage through them.

Without even glancing at them, I continued dismantling the props on the display stand, throwing them all, regardless of size, towards the door.

This was slightly more effective than the paint-throwing prank.

But creating obstacles wasn't a long-term solution; the other person could easily cause the half-built mountain of trash to collapse with a single kick, making the situation only worse.

"Is dismantling those props, lighter than paper, faster than scattering nails?" A short while later, she returned with a bottle. Seeing the paint bucket still intact, her face immediately darkened.

Nails?

Upon hearing this, I immediately abandoned the half-dismantled Nokoan and rushed to the paint bucket. Looking closely, I realized the open metal bucket indeed contained small parts like nails and screws.

Somewhat embarrassed, I lifted the bucket and splashed the slightly rusted metal objects onto the obstacles, while she unscrewed the cap and poured the clear, watery liquid onto the seams between the trash.

"What's that?"

"Quick-drying glue," she replied, gluing the large object to the door frame.

This made pushing aside the obstacle much more difficult; the knife thrower would have a headache just trying to climb over, avoiding the sharp objects! In

this critical moment, Feng Hua's reaction time was surprisingly good.

After applying the glue, she turned to fetch another bucket of nails. Suddenly, she pointed behind me and exclaimed, "Behind you!"

A lizard-like Nereid, dressed in ancient leather armor, leaped down from the display stand, wielding a wooden shield in its left hand and an iron sword in its right, and swayed its green tail as it approached. Feng Hua nervously hid behind me. The lizard-man stopped about ten meters in front of me, tilting its head back and sniffing the air.

"W-why is this thing... moving on its own?" Feng Hua stammered. "And... what is it doing?"

"Probably a performer trying to scare people..." I muttered.

I rushed down here and didn't notice anything strange down there. This oddly-looking guy is definitely a soul possessor too!

What's going on? It's fine if they're out in broad daylight, but Feng Hua is right next to me, and they don't even care. Or have they confused Feng Hua with the paparazzi?

Speaking of which, more than ten minutes have passed. The paparazzi should have arrived by now, so why hasn't anyone come? Could it be… could it be that the basement can't receive or transmit signals?

My heart skipped a beat.

God, if that's true, then we're completely isolated!

Luckily, the Scarlet Moon person should already be in the cultural area; I have to hold out until she finds this place!

The lizardman sniffed around a few times, shook his head, and suddenly straightened his long face, his blue glass eyes glaring at me: "It's you!"

My heart skipped a beat.

"It's you again!" Feng Hua angrily punched me. "How much money do you owe them?"

"Money?" The lizardman tilted his head, stopping his lunging motion.

"Don't think you can fool me like this. You debt collectors, do you even have any respect for the law?"

This strange conclusion popped into her head. She took out a check from her wallet and laid it flat in front of the strange man.

"Tell me how much he owes, I'll cover it for him."

"It's not that easy to talk..." I gestured to the completely oblivious woman to put the check away; this wasn't something money could solve.

"Shut up!" she snapped. "I just want to get rid of these two as soon as possible! Consider this a loan, I'll definitely get it back later!"

If I could, I'd wish for that too.

But the lizardman didn't even look at the check, just glared at my face, brandishing his iron sword, snorting heavily through his nostrils: "I just want his life!"

With that, it took a big step forward, and I immediately and swiftly threw the remaining bucket of nails and screws onto the ground. Before it could retract its foot, it stepped on it, roaring instantly as it leaped backward.

The return gift for my show of force was a flying sword, but unfortunately, it was slower than a flying knife, and I easily dodged it.

"Stop provoking it, you damn idiot!" With no use for her money and facing another life-or-death situation, Feng Hua was losing her temper.

"Don't worry, it can't get through."

Just as I finished speaking, the lizardman picked up an iron rod from the ground, deliberately trying to embarrass me, and jumped into the empty display case belonging to Planet Nokoana, using it as a temporary escape route.

"What do we do? It's coming!" Feng Hua cried anxiously.

"Don't worry, hold it here for now." I released my grip on the obstacle, making room for her to take over the crucial task of suppressing the continuous ramming of the throwing knife-wielding man. Then, pointing at her, I earnestly told the lizardman, "She's an innocent 'human'!"

I emphasized the word "human" to prevent the green monster from actually harming her. Making sure it understood, I turned and ran.

"Hey, where are you going!" Feng Hua's voice was filled with incredulous anger.

"I'll save you," I shouted, pulling open the cabinet she had just retrieved.

If this really is a decorator's storage area, it should contain what I'm looking for.

"Hurry...it...it's coming!" Feng Hua's trembling voice was filled with intense tension, and her strength failing her; she seemed almost unable to stop the obstacle from breaking down.

"Just a little longer, just a little more!"

Fortunately, some of the scattered nails landed on the cabinet, though not as many as on the ground, but they slowed the lizardman's progress.

"Quick...I can't take it anymore..." she trembled, as if she were about to faint.

"Found it!" Finally seeing what I was looking for on the last shelf of the cabinet, I grabbed it and rushed back.

At that moment, the lizardman also dodged the projectiles and jumped down from the cabinet.

Feng Hua could no longer resist her fear and ran towards me, while the knife-throwing man kicked through the riddled wall of props, bursting through the door along with two other monsters.

"Four...four..." Well done! I quickly shoved one of the items I'd acquired into her hands: "Here you go!"

"Thank... what do you mean by this?" The words of thanks she was about to utter vanished the moment she saw what I'd given her. "You let the lady handle the chainsaw, while you take the drill?"

"When you want to launch an attack, which type of enemy do you deal with first?" What's there to complain about? I'd given her a powerful weapon!

"I can't swing something this heavy." She pouted, stubbornly clinging to her image, and took the drill.

...Whatever. The drill is light, but don't come back later saying it's too weak and useless.

I thought to myself, then started the chainsaw.

A skilled craftsman must first sharpen his tools. The powerful "partner" roared, the deafening sound momentarily halting the four "people" from advancing. Finally, the knife thrower made the first move, sending a knife flying straight at me.

I immediately raised the chainsaw to block it, and the deflected knife embedded itself in the ceiling, only the hilt sticking out.

Seeing this, the lizardman immediately swung his iron rod, while the other two monsters seized the opportunity to attack. Sparks flew as the chainsaw clashed with the iron rod, instantly piercing the lizardman's long beak, forcing it back several steps in pain.

The other two monsters quickly filled in, Feng Hua wielding her electric drill to force one back, while I immediately attacked the lone one. But the knife thrower seized the opportunity, hurling a gleaming knife from an angle I couldn't defend against, aiming for my heart—

"Clang!" The knife fell to the ground, struck by a bamboo chopstick.

Fei Yue was by the door, still panting. The lizardman tried to ambush her, but was instead knocked to the ground.

Now it was three against three… no, not immediately.

Fei Yue gave the enemy no time or chance to retaliate, a pair of knives and forks flying towards the two monsters. The two weakest seemed to have anticipated being the first targets, dodging to the left and right, respectively having their arms and faces slashed.

Neither of them bleeds a drop from their wounds—a cold sweat trickled down my back, fearing the secret behind this would be discovered. But Fei Yue seemed to attribute it to the thick wax coating, not finding anything amiss.

As the monster dodged, Fei Yue prepared for the next attack. But just then, the knife thrower suddenly unleashed a barrage of thousands of blades. In an instant, I grabbed Feng Hua and dove behind a royal blue display stand against the wall, while Fei Yue provided cover.

In the rain of blades, the surrounding glass shattered, and the displayed props were bent and cracked, becoming a gruesome sight.

...The renovation project probably has to start all over again!

Only after the last swaying piece of glass fell to the ground and all sound ceased did I peek out and cautiously survey my surroundings. Fei Yue was already crouching on the ground, checking the unconscious person's breathing.

"How is it?"

"Not 'dead'," Fei Yue said. "Breathing, body temperature, heartbeat—absolutely no signs of life. If they weren't 'alive,' how could they have had so much time to escape?"

"That makes sense..." I watched, knowing the truth but remaining silent, as she carried the three monsters to the wall and sat them down.

The knife thrower was too ruthless; to ensure his own safe departure, he was willing to sacrifice his companions. Although there's no real affection between those possessed by spirits, seeing this, I could only shake my head.

At least in the rush, there wasn't time to use excessive force, giving them a chance to survive.

“Just ignore those debt collectors.”

Feng Hua brushed the broken glass and wood chips off her clothes, then walked over and kicked the wax figure a few times in frustration.

“Damn it, I almost got killed by them!”

“Debt collectors?” Fei Yue asked blankly, then seemed to only then notice me and said, “What are you doing here?”

“Never mind, it’s not important.” Feng Hua changed the subject, turning back to scold me, “You were too slow, I almost got killed by this guy!”

“Sorry, I was on the Ferris wheel when you called, it took me a few minutes to climb down…” she apologized. “I walked around the cultural area and found that the lock on this alien creature museum was broken, so I thought you might be inside. I tried my best, but because I was in a bit of a rush, I accidentally… damaged some of the things in the bags.”

“It’s okay, this guy will pay for it.” Feng Hua pointed at me as a matter of course.

“Me? Why?” I pointed at myself and shouted.

"You put it there, so you should have borne all the risks of potential damage before it was officially returned to me."

What nonsense! You practically forced it on me!

"If you still have objections, please consider who should be responsible for the damage here if it were investigated."

She placed her right hand on her hip, palm up, and drew a semicircle horizontally, showing me the scene of destruction, like that after a hurricane.

It was a complete disaster.

"I..."

"Then from now on, I am your creditor." She smiled like a spring breeze, but I felt like I was in the dead of winter. She

's definitely a loan shark!

"Let's leave quickly! We need to get there before the park authorities find out," Feng Hua said, puffing out her chest.

At this moment, she had regained her elegant demeanor, like a young lady from a wealthy family, unhurried and unperturbed, since being caught wasn't her problem anyway.

“Oh, right, ‘Lin,’” she said, her smile widening as she stepped out of the emergency exit. “The question I asked you earlier seems to be bothering you. Let’s leave it for now and answer me next time.”

She turned to Feiyue and said, “Let’s go! We need to explain to the park about you climbing off the Ferris wheel, or you might be on TV tomorrow.”

Feiyue didn’t say anything, but the look in her eyes as she looked back at me suggested she wanted to say something.

After they left, I felt a sense of relief.

Fenghua probably assumed I was a penniless, desperate person being chased.

Judging from her expression, she didn’t seem to be planning to publicly express her suspicions about me yet. I wondered if it was because my identity hadn’t been confirmed, or because she didn’t want to hurt the girls I’d already been in contact with.

In any case, one thing was certain: no matter what I said next time we met, she would never believe my “one-sided account.” She would do everything she could to investigate the truth.

But she wouldn’t find anything, because I couldn’t tell the truth. Since that's the case, I have no choice but to find a way to avoid her.

As for Feiyue, her eyes before she left are still in my mind.

What did she want to tell me?

I know I still owe her an explanation about why I was being hunted down. She won't believe Fenghua's guess; the debt collection group wouldn't have such a strange age group, wouldn't have that kind of fighting ability, and wouldn't be willing to risk their lives for money.

She has some things she wants to tell me, something private and not for public knowledge, something she doesn't want anyone to know.

I have to see her again, avoiding everyone else's eyes and ears, but what should I tell her then?

I feel like I'm getting more and more "finished." More and more people know about the Soul Possessions, and more and more people know about the war where people killed each other for the lottery.

Suddenly, I realize that I'm an invincible "broadcasting station." If this continues, even if I can return to Heaven, I'm afraid I'll be kicked back to Hell for my long tongue and suffer hundreds of years of torture...

Oh, I forgot again, Hell isn't that kind of place.

Back on the first floor, I was immediately surrounded again.

But this time it wasn't the Soul Possessions, but the Extreme Sports Club. Unfortunately, they only showed up now because it was too late.

"Well done," said President Raphael.

If it weren't good, we would have been dead already.

"Could you replace the distress button with one with a stronger signal?" I was considering throwing away this defective black device.

"The test results are good!" The paparazzi disagreed. "At least everyone's device was checked, and Ash showed mercy, didn't he?"

With that, the "knife thrower," who should have vanished without a trace, reappeared behind him.

"A-Ash?" I rubbed my eyes in disbelief. Looking closely, it really was him.

If it weren't for the chaos earlier and his disguise, I would have recognized him long ago.

No wonder! No wonder the knife thrower always hid in the shadows, no wonder I never smelled the stalker's scent on him, no wonder he could have killed me with a knife but deliberately damaged the phone screen, no wonder I could block him for so long at the basement entrance, no wonder he knocked out his "comrade" before escaping, no wonder the paparazzi and the others hadn't shown up…

It was all planned!

"Where's that throwing knife that wanted my heart?" Surely it wasn't meant to kill me?

"It's specially made; the blade retracts into the hilt," Ash said.

It turned out that when Scarlet Moon came downstairs, she intended to attack him first. Before throwing the knife, he had assessed Scarlet Moon's strength and was certain she wouldn't harm me. Scarlet Moon blocked the knife, knowing the knife thrower was difficult to deal with, and would deal with the two monsters first, thus giving the knife thrower an opportunity to escape.

As for the purpose of going to such lengths to conceal everything from me, it was to lure those Soul-Binding individuals who would initiate an attack.

Ash, disguised as the knife thrower, attacking me first would attract the attention of other Soul-Binding individuals, who would then attack Ash or me if interested, allowing Ash to eliminate them.

However, the Soul-Binding individuals in the exhibition hall, seeing I was much weaker, all chose to become Ash's "ally." With Scarlet Moon arriving later and busy with the act, there wasn't enough time to completely eliminate them.

However, the paparazzi had already sent Soren and Far to deal with it, ensuring that no matter how difficult the monster's body was to dissect, it would be reduced to a pile of fragments.

After a battle, an hour had vanished like smoke. The paparazzi ordered A (Levi) to "retrieve" me, and five hours later, the same drama would continue.

However, the plan didn't execute as the paparazzi expected, because during those five hours, A took me on the most terrifying journey through hell on earth, without a break for a full five hours—a total of six pirate ship rides, eleven roller coaster rides, and thirteen freefalls. I was practically dangling in the air every minute, so dizzy that I even threw up my transmitter.

The reason for this miserable ordeal was the lack of safety measures; A simply carried me in a small cloth bag.

You can imagine how swayed I was while people were swinging on the pirate ship; while everyone screamed at the top of the 360-degree roller coaster, I was looking down at the height below, trembling with fear.

And then there was that freefall I hated most! As the machine rapidly descended from the sixty-story building to the twenty-something-story, the crackling of the ropes in the wind repeatedly made my nerves snap and my blood vessels in my brain burst.

So, when the time was up and the paparazzi demanded I transform, I was already completely weak and powerless.

A got a scolding for being secretly filmed, but my work wasn't cut, just moved to the evening.

I lay in bed until eight o'clock. Those terrifying mechanical demons of the pirate ship kept spinning in my nightmares, making me groan in pain for hours.

Later, C shook me awake.

"Time to work."

I opened my eyes wearily, the discomfort not completely gone.

"We've been waiting for you!" A, on the other hand, was full of energy.

I sadly sat up in bed.

The room was still as opulent as ever, with thirteen beds. I sniffed, and C handed me a new transmitter. Just

as I was about to swallow it, I glanced at the wicker trash can beside the bed, and a sudden urge to vomit surged up.

"It's all because you don't know how to control yourself!" C scolded A, patting my back with some sympathy.

My stomach was completely empty, so I just dry-heaved while hugging the trash can, but the intense nausea made my stomach churn.

"Outside...outside..." It was the same discomfort, but a completely different feeling. I struggled to explain, but then realized the atmosphere in the room was also off.

It was raining red blood! Soren wasn't playing video games; the only LCD TV was being used by Dilo and Xirui. The two were watching a fighting game and calmly discussing it.

Ash stood by the window, lifting a corner of the curtain, his dark eyes, gleaming with a hidden starlight, scanning the dark street. "People everywhere."

People everywhere? No, it was a large number of "Soul Possession Users"!

The Allied Forces!

But why would Soul Possession Users who partnered with humans join the Allied Forces? They had enough strength, didn't they? What did that damned crow say to them that made those Soul Possession Users willing to spare their companions to kill me?

“Souls are spreading rumors that you not only have the ability to transform into a human, but also have many humans around you who help eliminate those possessed by spirits. Rumors are circulating that you are the chosen one to summon souls in Heaven, on the condition that you help the celestial realm eliminate as many souls as possible. Now the possessed souls are all in turmoil, coming to take revenge on you.”

Ariel’s warning echoed in my mind…

Oh no! No wonder they came, because the conditions have been met!

The insect army that attacked me in the park was probably the weakest member of the alliance, secretly designated as sacrifices. How could I not have thought of that? Why could those insects attack me despite Yin You’s presence, yet retreat so drastically because of Liuya’s appearance?

At the time, I only thought they considered Yin You an “assistant,” and Liuya an “unsuspecting human,” fleeing to avoid exposure. But how could the crow not know who the truly innocent were?

It must have seen Soren and Far approaching from its high perch! So, deliberately letting the insects retreat was ostensibly to spare my life, but in reality, it was to let the extreme sports club make the move.

This way, the "humans assisting in eliminating the possessed ones" and the "removal of the largest possible number of souls" would have a large number of wandering spirits to corroborate their claims, thus eliminating the hesitation of those intermediate possessed ones who were initially wavering. The crow's scheme would succeed.

However, before I discovered it, the paparazzi and his gang probably already knew, right? Although they can't sense possessed ones themselves, they are extremely sensitive to "killing intent."

The dark mass of people around the hotel didn't appear out of nowhere. Given what happened to me, they probably guessed immediately that those people were possessed, which is why the person sitting in front of the LCD TV wasn't Soren.

And the others were... fully armed?

"Feeling better now?" It was President Raphael who spoke.

In my mind, he was just a weakling who had returned from abroad specifically to be protected by the paparazzi, but now, he... was dressed exactly like me?

I looked down at myself. Yes, I was still in the shape of a massage stick, but now there was a human version of myself standing in front of me… I looked back and forth like this a few times, and I felt a strange sense of disorientation.

“Is the disguise convincing?” the humanoid “me” said, but the voice was still that of President Raphael.

“Convincing… very convincing.” I could barely speak.

“President’s time abroad really paid off.” Su Fei said excitedly to me, “Actually, President Raphael did Ash’s makeup yesterday too. That’s the real power of President Raphael!”

A high-level skill learned in response to being chased…

“I can disguise myself in other places, but I can’t completely overcome the difference in voice and height. Even though I’m wearing platform shoes, there’s still a difference between me and you, but I don’t think they’ll notice.” President Raphael said with a slight sigh. If the soles of my

shoes were any thicker, I probably wouldn’t be able to run.

“Regarding this, I think most of those people probably don’t know Xiao Mo and wouldn’t have any idea what his voice is like. But to avoid any knowledgeable wandering spirits nearby, President Raphael should try to avoid speaking as much as possible.” The paparazzi said.

“That’s right.” President Raphael nodded, then asked each member, “Is everyone ready?”

“It’s ready here.” Xi Rui turned off the TV.

“Okay!” Soren grabbed Pluto, while Fal carried a bag of unknown things.

Shi Jing held his bow and carried his bow case.

Ash, needless to say, was a weapon in himself.

Su Fei picked up his skateboard.

B (Xuan He) picked up his mountaineering gear.

“I’m going with Xuan He,” C said.

Only A didn’t bring anything.

The paparazzi tossed me a cell phone and said very seriously, “After tonight, we can’t guarantee you’ll still be alive.”

So, he wanted me to give my last words.

But who could I call? The pretty landlady? Sama? I didn’t even know their phone numbers… I thought sadly.

“It’s already in the phone book.” The paparazzi saw through my thoughts at a glance.

“Uh… all of them? When did you…”

“The school year address book is very useful.”

The paparazzi produced a high-value future aristocrat contact book.

"While you were asleep, I saved you some work, but I only entered seven phone numbers. If you want to say anything to them, I can arrange a private space where you won't be disturbed."

"Th-thank you..." I said gratefully.

"You're welcome, then please move to the bathroom!"

Huh... wasn't I supposed to be given an empty room?

"For safety reasons, it's not advisable to leave you alone in a place where you might be attacked. Don't worry, no one will disturb you for at least ten minutes."

Thank you so much...

I never thought I'd have to make my last few phone calls in the bathroom! I hugged my phone with deep sorrow, and walked into the small, square space with a dark feeling in my heart. Shi Jing closed the door for me.

Ten minutes... I pressed the function key on my phone to search the phonebook. The perpetrator was really honest; there were only seven numbers, not even names.

What's going on now, playing a guessing game?

I hesitated for a long time before turning off the first number and pressing the call button.

Who will answer the phone? Will it be the pretty landlady, or…? I hesitated, constantly changing the numbers I chose.

Who did I really want to call? Who did I want to hear my last words? What was the point of calling them?

Even if the pretty landlady answered, she might say something like, “Good riddance, never come back!” If I called Sama, she might cry and beg me to come back; if it was Hiizuki, Otoyu, or Yotsuba…

God, what am I even hoping for? I looked at the seven long strings of numbers, whose identities I didn't know, with a sense of disgust, and even more disgusted with my own indecisiveness.

It's just giving my last words! A few short sentences explaining my whereabouts, what's so difficult about that? Even if the call connects and I find out it's not the person I'm looking for, I can just ask them to pass on the message, right?

Thinking like that, things seemed much simpler. I blocked the first number and pressed the dial button with my eyes closed.

Hopefully, this will be a good start!

"..."

After two seconds of silence, the sound of chanting sutras could be heard. My face darkened, and my left hand reached for the red call-off button, intending to interrupt the ominous ringtone, but the phone had already been answered.

Episode 7, Chapter 5: Farewell

"Who is this?" A calm, emotionless voice asked.

"Uh... Ryua? I... it's Mo." I couldn't bring myself to hang up on a woman, so I forced myself to speak.

I hadn't expected it to be her; there was absolutely no sense of farewell.

"What is it?"

Her voice was so indifferent, as if she had no interest in anything, and all my words instantly melted away.

"Um... I might die tonight, so there are some things I want to say... um... actually I... I just..."

Damn it, what did I even want to say? The thought of her coldly guessing what I was up to on the other end of the line made me even more incoherent.

"Um... actually, I dialed the wrong number, I'm sorry!"

In the end, I couldn't help but hang up on her in shame, instantly shattering my "gentlemanly beliefs."

Ryuuya was too difficult to talk to, so I'd better try another number!

I wiped away my cold sweat and dialed the next number. This time, soft classical music played.

Was it... Otoyu?

"Who is this?" It was actually Hishizuki's voice. I was so surprised that I lost my balance and slipped.

Hearing the terrible background noise, the person on the other end of the phone immediately asked, "What's wrong? Are you alright?"

"N-nothing... I'm fine." Good heavens, her ringtone was so different from her image!

"Xiao..." she said in surprise, but immediately lowered her voice: "Xiao Mo?"

"Yes, it's me." I unconsciously lowered my voice to match hers.

"I know I still owe you an explanation, but time is running out, and I'm afraid I won't have time to finish. If I'm still alive by tomorrow, I'll tell you all the details clearly."

Anyway, I'm definitely going to be punished.

"What's going on?" She immediately sensed something was wrong. "Are those people here again? Where are you? I'm coming right now!"

"No need, anyway... it's probably bad enough. If those people think you're with me, you'll be in danger too," I sighed.

"That's alright, just tell me..."

I pressed the call-end button. It seemed impossible to pass on a message to her before I was forced to give her an answer.

Actually, instead of asking her to pass on a message, I should talk to the pretty landlady myself.

There were still five numbers left, and with mixed feelings, I randomly picked one.

"Hello?"

I got it! It was the pretty landlady!

I nervously brought my mouth close to the receiver and said, "I... I'm Xiao Mo."

"..." There was silence on the other end of the line.

Just when I thought the call was about to end, she angrily asked, "Where are you? And how did you get here?"

"I..."

"What do you want? Didn't I already say I didn't want to see you again during my graduation trip?!"

"I..."

"If you want to apologize for what happened last time... save your breath. I will never forgive you! Absolutely not!"

"Yes..."

"Beep—beep—" She hung up the phone directly.

She wouldn't even listen to my apology, let alone explain. Sigh!

I dialed again. Although she might yell at me again, this might be my last chance. I'll just have to endure it, no matter how embarrassing it is!

"Hello?" Her voice came through.

"This is Xiao Mo." I put my hand to my ear, just in case her roar went off and deafened me.

"What are you calling for?" Fortunately, her volume was normal, just her tone was unfriendly.

"I sincerely want to apologize to you."

"Then forget it." Snap, she hung up the phone again.

It seems she's still furious and won't calm down easily. But it's not like I can't understand her. If she could be comfortable kissing something like me...

I'll just have to bear it. Since I'm about to die anyway, I shouldn't take her bad temper too seriously... I pressed the call button three times.

She seemed to be deliberately ignoring it; the phone remained busy.

I sighed deeply. I'll try again later...

There are four numbers left, possibly one of Yin You, Yotsuba, Fuuka, or Sama. I kept switching between the numbers, finally choosing the one that looked the best.

The ringtone sounded. Based on my previous experience, I didn't want to guess who was using this crystal-clear music as their ringtone; it wouldn't be accurate anyway.

"Hello, this is Sama."

Hearing that cute voice, I perked up. "Sama, it's Momo!"

"Momo? You're awake? I'll come back for you now!"

She didn't know I was gone, nor did she suspect how I knew her phone number.

"Sama, I drew the fortune stick!" I tried to sound happy. "I'm going back tonight. Someone will come to pick me up soon. I came to say goodbye."

"What?" Sama asked, taken aback.

"You're happy for me too, aren't you? Don't worry, soon..."

I tried my best to make her think I was going on a long journey, using a cheerful tone to at least prevent her from being too heartbroken.

But at that moment, the bathroom window shattered, and a boy hanging from a rope, having kicked open the air vent, angrily said, "You drew the fortune stick? It wasn't a rumor after all!"

Before I could explain, he turned to the people in the dark alley and said, "Everyone, I heard it with my own ears. Someone from above will come to pick him up tonight!" As soon as he said

this, a roar of anger suddenly erupted from the crowd around the hotel.

"Xiao Mo! Xiao Mo! Who's that? Why is there such a strange sound?" Sama's voice called out into the microphone.

"This, this..." I'm doomed. How am I supposed to explain this?

My eyes were fixed on the boy who had suddenly appeared, kicking and shoving at the glass, trying to create a space to pass through. I hurriedly backed away, unable to utter a single word to Anfu Shazhen's explanation.

Just then, the toilet door was suddenly pushed open, and Shi Jing stood outside, bow drawn. Before anything could be done, the arrow had already severed the ropes binding the boy.

"Go!" Shi Jing scooped me up.

"Xiao Mo—Xiao Mo—" The cell phone on the ground was still ringing.

"He…"

"You won't die from a fall from the second floor," C said for Shi Jing. After taking my clothes, everyone quickly and orderly went downstairs.

"Boss, we need to check out." The voyeur put a stack of banknotes on the counter and said, "This is the room fee and the glass repair fee. Besides the front and back doors, is there any other exit?"

"Aren't those drug addicts outside here for the carnival?" The boss, who was watching porn, lazily turned around and pointed to the floor next to the seat, saying, "This is a good spot."

"Thanks." The voyeur stepped over the counter and easily lifted the wooden board.

Beneath the wooden planks was a staircase leading to the underground sewers.

The members filed down, and when it was Di Luo's turn, he handed the owner a business card: "If the repair fee isn't enough, please call the number above, and I'll send someone to make up the difference as soon as possible."

"No need!" the owner said, licking his lips as he counted the money. "You're a regular customer, I won't haggle.

Any extra, no refund; any less, consider it 'fan service'!"

Once everyone had reached the bottom of the stairs, the owner closed the hidden door. I silently prayed that those possessed individuals wouldn't completely destroy the inn.

Regardless of what those humans believed or why they obeyed the "possessed individuals," since it had escalated into a siege, they had to be defeated.

"Wow, this is more exciting than a sports meet!" My adrenaline was already pumping, and I was so excited I felt like I was on fire.

"Taking them down is easy, the key is how to identify the possessed one? Without Xiao Mo's identification, we can't tell in a short time," C sighed. "If only we had something that could instantly identify a possessed being."

...Instantly identify it, then we have to make the possessed one "revert to their original form"?

"A camera!" I shouted, "A camera might work!"

"Who has a camera?" the paparazzi asked.

"Would the same function work?" B picked up his phone and pointed it at me.

"How is it?" A asked.

"Without a doubt." B smiled and turned the phone away.

In the photo, I, held in Shi Jing's hand, was a blinding white light, with a face appearing in the halo of the white light.

"It really looks exactly like the president!" Su Fei, who also leaned over to look, laughed, "But it's the president in disguise."

"Finally, we've discovered some interesting information." The paparazzi laughed, as if the goddess of victory had moved closer to us, "Whose phone doesn't have a camera?"

"I..." Xi Rui stammered.

“No problem, I brought an extra camera.” Dilo immediately solved the problem.

At this moment, Ash, who was at the back, said, “Here we are.” The others immediately stopped smiling.

“Have you found them already? Time Mirror, Orin, give me Little Mo and the clothes!”

The paparazzi took me and ran ahead with President Raphael. A stayed behind at the first fork in the road.

“I’ll lead some of them away.” He waved and said.

“Survive.” The paparazzi only said four words.

The others continued forward, their pace extraordinary.

But having locked onto me, the other Soul Benders were not left behind. The nearby waterway covers were removed one by one, and the Soul Benders and their human partners flowed in like rainwater seeping in on a cloudy day. In

the blink of an eye, they reached another fork in the road, and the small waterways on both sides of the main road were filled with the clamor of people.

“A standard ‘bad water’ scene, this is my territory.” Soren stopped, dragging Pluto.

“Big brother, no…” Pluto looked at his brother, his fearful eyes seeming to be pleading.

“Don’t worry, I’ll get this piece of trash back to fighting strength before the enemy gathers here!” Soren assured the president and the paparazzi.

Far immediately threw them two chainsaws.

“Just delay, no need to wipe them all out,” the paparazzi instructed.

The others who hadn’t yet had a chance to stay continued moving forward.

The anthill-like sewers had branches everywhere, and the ant swarm could surround the main path at any time. Not long after leaving Soren, the paparazzi instructed us to return to the surface.

After running a long enough distance, the Soul Possessions were left behind. The paparazzi told me to transform back into human form and change into the same clothes as the president, then he told me to start looking for a safe exit.

“Here, there’s no reaction on this cover!” I pointed to the round cover above a row of iron ladders.

“I’ll go first!” Su Fei nimbly climbed up, pushed open the iron cover, and slipped out.

Five seconds later, he poked his head back and said, "Nobody's here, everyone hurry up!"

The paparazzi immediately invited President Raphael to go first, while he followed behind.

I, Diluo, Xirui, and Shijing also returned to the ground one by one.

Suddenly, the air pressure dropped.

"Damn it, it's a trap!" I shouted, but it was too late. A dense crowd of people suddenly surged out from around the waterway opening.

"Back up, quick!" Diluo ordered B, who was about to climb out of the waterway.

"No, they're coming."

It was Ash's warning from below. The atmosphere there was also changing rapidly.

"Xuanhe, you go up! Diluo, close the waterway cover!" C helped push from below, and with Diluo's pull, B quickly reached the ground.

"Take care." Before pushing the round cover back, Diluo said earnestly.

"Don't worry, I, Ash, and Fal are down there." C held the quick-drying glue, standing on the ladder with a smiling face.

But through the obstructed view, only Ash and Far were visible, trapped in a small area at C's feet.

"We'll be alright."

The round cover was pushed back into place, immediately followed by an explosion.

"Oh..." Dilu was startled, instantly reaching out to move the metal cover, but the quick-drying glue had already taken effect.

In that fraction of a second, the metal cover firmly adhered to the base, unmoving. Xirui immediately joined in to help, but even with their combined efforts, the situation remained unchanged.

"Damn it!" Dilu punched the metal cover hard, but to no avail.

"The extreme sports club members aren't so easily defeated," the paparazzi said.

Despite the sadness, there wasn't much time for mourning them, because the situation on the ground was also terrible.

The club president and I were tightly surrounded in the center. The sewer exit was in a maze of alleyways, not far from the amusement park, where the glowing Ferris wheel could be seen spinning.

The nearby houses were all dark and showed obvious signs of damage; I couldn't bear to imagine the torture and beatings the people inside had suffered...

The attackers, mostly teenagers, were armed with baseball bats or knives, dressed in old t-shirts and baggy pants, chewing gum, and sporting numerous tattoos.

So that's it, they sent the possessed one to incite hot-blooded social outcasts…

These people have the air of desperados, capable of anything.

There were about a hundred of them, completely surrounding us. Suddenly, a flash went off, and as the teenagers raised their hands to shield their eyes, a figure instantly somersaulted over their heads.

"Hey, got it!" Su Fei proudly flipped the camera, revealing a spectacular supernatural photograph.

"If I send this to the newspaper, it'll definitely be on the front page tomorrow, right?" With that, he jumped onto his skateboard and vanished in a flash.

"Camera!" The possessed individuals caught in the shot were stunned for a moment, then roared, "Chase them! If this gets out, we're finished!"

"Go chase them yourselves!"

The teenagers blew bubbles nonchalantly until one of the possessed individuals yelled, "Idiots! Your faces are in the shot too! Do you think the cops won't catch you tomorrow?" Only then did they react.

The first few rows of people captured by Su Fei immediately turned around to chase after them, creating a gap in the encirclement.

Seizing the opportunity, several "clicks!" rang out again. B, Di Luo, and Xi Rui each grabbed their phones and cameras and started snapping photos. As the frantic young people tried to attack, they immediately fled in three different directions.

Only about twenty people remained on the scene.

Seeing the extreme sports club's actions, the others followed suit, pulling out their phones. Shi Jing tried to raise his bow to stop them, but was immediately threatened by five or six people with knives and forced to put it down.

"Hand over the arrow!" one of them shouted, and Shi Jing had no choice but to obey.

The quiver was thrown to the ground and immediately dragged aside. Two or three people rushed forward and snapped all the arrows in two.

I was slightly sweating. Now only the club president, the paparazzi, and Shi Jing remained. The club president and I were powerless to fight, and Shi Jing had just lost his weapon. In this unfavorable situation, it would be too difficult to defeat the more than twenty people in front of us!

"What strongest Soul Possession User? Nothing special!" someone laughed loudly.

Showing off by tossing his small knife, a boy with a buzz cut approached and said, "You can't say that. They only have fourteen people, but they scattered us down to just these... Hey, why do these two look exactly alike?"

He was the first to notice that Club President Raphael and I had almost identical faces. The others had just curiously approached when, in the blink of an eye, seven or eight of them suddenly fell down.

"W-what happened?" The others, seeing this, immediately took a few steps back in fright.

"A true master doesn't show off, Senior Shi Jing," the paparazzi laughed.

He only casually took down the two closest to him, while Shi Jing, in a very short time and without making any significant moves, knocked out three times that number of people, even eliminating those who dared to harm me and the club president.

"Consider this the result of half a year of training away from the club? You're not bad either." Shi Jing still wore a gentle, kind smile. "

In that case," said the paparazzi, "club president, Xiao Mo, we'll each fight our way out, and then you can run as fast as you can!"

The club president and I nodded simultaneously, tacitly concealing our voices.

"Hey... which one of them is the Soul Possession User?" someone asked from the side, but the "earring" hanging on my left ear pondered.

"This..." Perhaps because the club president and I were standing too close, it couldn't tell for a moment.

"Senior Shi Jing."

"Vice Club President."

The paparazzi and Shi Jing said at the same time, and the two of them rushed out like arrows at the same time, aiming to open up an escape route, and also to prevent the Soul Possession User from distinguishing between me and the club president.

In the blink of an eye, a large number of the enemy fell.

"Quick, now!" Shi Jing said.

He had already cleared a path, and the voyeur was in the same situation.

I was facing Shi Jing; the path he had cleared was very clean, and the enemy wouldn't have a chance to get close for at least thirty seconds. The situation was different with the voyeur; several people were still standing there, swaying, and could retaliate at any moment, making the situation more dangerous.

I exchanged a glance with the club president and turned around at the same time. He ran straight towards the path Shi Jing had cleared, while I dodged the enemies and ran in the opposite direction.

"That's him! He's trying to run into the amusement park!" The teenagers who were still standing swung their baseball bats, pointed at the club president's back, and shouted, chasing after him all at once.

"It's not him, it's someone else!" As soon as they separated from the club president, the lingering scent made the possessed individuals shout.

"Damn it, we've been tricked! Chase them!" the teenagers shouted angrily, but the paparazzi and Shi Jing simultaneously pulled out their phones and started snapping photos of them...

"Huff—huff—" I panted heavily, running as fast as I could.

The simple psychological tactic of using the safer escape route left for the possessed soul had successfully fooled them. Feeling no one was chasing me, I slowed my pace, but still dared not stop.

"Hey kid, are you thirsty?"

After groping my way through the dark alley and finally almost back onto a normal road, a chilling voice asked.

I jumped up in fright, about to run, when I realized the person who greeted me in Taiwanese was the watermelon stall owner, pushing his stall and preparing to do business.

"Coconut water isn't bad, sweet and cold!" the coconut stall owner followed behind, pulling a cart full of coconuts.

"Damn it, you short-haired bastard, this is my customer!" the watermelon stall owner roared.

"Alright, don't be so fierce. Doing business is all about fair competition. Maybe this kid just wants coconut water!" the coconut stall owner said.

"Alright, whatever you want! Kid, what do you want to drink?" The watermelon stall owner brandished his watermelon knife, looking like he was ready to die if I didn't buy watermelon juice.

"Uh, this..."

"Found it, over here!"

Just as I hesitated, about ten more people suddenly appeared behind me, looking menacing, holding either baseball bats or machetes.

"One, one cup of watermelon juice!" I shouted.

"Okay, one cup of watermelon juice!" The watermelon stall owner beamed, immediately picking up a watermelon, ready to make a sale.

"Then let me go first!" Not having gotten a customer, the coconut stall owner didn't mind, pulling his cart to leave.

"Go to hell!"

The teenagers looked grim when they saw I still had the leisure to buy juice. Especially the one with the hottest temper, who swung his machete at my head.

"Smack!" A flip-flop hit him in the face, followed by the watermelon stall owner's furious roar—

"Damn it, can't you see I'm doing business?! If I have customers, why am I charging them?"

His shout sparked an idea in me.

I immediately called out to the coconut stall owner who was about to leave, "Wait, I want a coconut juice too!"

"Oh, why didn't you say so earlier?" Upon hearing this, he immediately smiled and dragged back his cart, starting to peel coconuts.

"You old rascal, this is Ruan Ye Daizhi, don't pay him any attention, or you'll all get into trouble!"

The hot-tempered boy, embarrassed by the flip-flop, was about to swat at me again.

"Help...help me!" I scrambled between the two stalls.

The hot-tempered boy chased after me, kicking over the watermelon stall and smashing a used juicer with a single blow. The watermelon stall owner's face paled

. I immediately hid behind the coconut stall owner. Despite the boy's menacing look, the coconut stall owner smiled and asked, "Young man, want to buy a coconut water?"

"Dodge!" The hot-tempered boy swung away the coconuts the owner was holding, his right hand flashing with a knife.

I ducked down, the machete missing me, but leaving a large crack in the orange plastic bucket filled with coconuts.

The coconut stall owner's smile froze.

"I'm going to make sure you die today!" the hot-tempered boy spat. Seeing me cowering, he slashed with the knife even more mercilessly.

"Fuck you!" the watermelon stall owner suddenly roared, kicking the hot-tempered boy in the stomach. "You didn't want to buy watermelon juice, so you're going to get lost, damn it!"

The hot-tempered boy flew backward, crashing into a pile of garbage in the corner, vomiting blood, and immediately passed out.

The remaining boys looked terrified and turned to run away, only to find that the coconut stall owner had somehow appeared behind them, holding a coconut knife, and revealing a sinister smile. "Kid, do you know

how to use a 'machete' and a 'baseball bat'?"

"Back when you were a 'gangster,' you could chop people up like weeds... Let these two 'seniors' teach you how," the watermelon stall owner said, stretching his shoulders as he held up the watermelon knife.

"Sorry, young man, we're not doing business tonight." The coconut stall owner waved to me. "Go on your way, maybe we'll meet again someday!"

"Uh... sorry..."

I bowed deeply to them, then rummaged in my pocket for a while, found a few bills, carefully placed them on their stall, bowed deeply again, and left feeling guilty.

After running for a while, seeing that no one was chasing me anymore, I sat down on a rusty trash can, panting.

Just then, I heard a clattering sound overhead.

I looked up and saw a crow flapping its wings in the sliver of night sky. This time it was very close to me, and I could clearly see the wound on its chest, from which an unknown liquid was still oozing.

"It's you!"

A surge of anger rose within me. It was because of it that such a big incident had occurred.

It didn't utter a sound, but simply increased its altitude and flew away.

"Hey, don't run!" I waved my hands and feet behind it and shouted, but it ignored me.

"Hey buddy, judging by how loud you're yelling, you must still have plenty of energy, right?"

Just as I was still cursing the crow, the disheveled man had already appeared in my sight like a ghost.

Looking at my ridiculous and unsuspecting appearance, he asked with a knowing sneer, "By the way, where are your protectors today? Did they all go on holiday?"

"And you? Shouldn't you relax a bit too?"

I secretly stood behind the trash can. He had a gun; one shot would be enough to kill me.

"I can't help it. There's a big case I can't seem to handle lately, it's made me lose my appetite."

He shrugged helplessly. "So, I'm here to beg you."

"Beg me?" It's like a weasel offering New Year's greetings to a chicken!

"Yes." He suddenly raised his right hand, a gun in his palm. "Please, have mercy and let me get a good night's sleep!"

I ducked, dodging the bullet, but a hole appeared in the trash can.

"Request rejected!" I said without hesitation, flipping the trash can lid over and throwing it at him before turning and running.

"Then I'll have to fight for it myself," he said nonchalantly, his index finger easily hooking the trigger.

"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"

Bullet holes appeared one after another in the wall behind me.

"Take a break, buddy. Don't you think running like this is too tiring?"

As soon as I turned the corner, I leaned against the wall, panting, while he strolled leisurely towards me, not in a hurry at all.

"Buddy, why don't you run faster? I'm in a good mood today and don't want to rush through the 100 meters. This is your chance!" he said loudly, contradicting himself.

Who would listen to you!

You can't trust the enemy's words. Who knows how much of what he said is true? There might be an ambush a few hundred meters away, just waiting for me to collapse from exhaustion.

"I won't do anything to you for now," the dejected man continued. "Everyone's looking for you. If you're done for too soon, I'll be the one in danger. Don't you think what I'm saying makes some sense, buddy?"

...It does make some sense, but if you don't want me to die too soon, why did you pull out your gun to kill me so early?

"I won't believe you..." I muttered.

Seeing his shadow already past my feet, I immediately moved away from my original spot and changed positions.

"How about we chat, buddy?"

He smoked a cigarette and slowly fired a few more shots, hitting several large pieces of trash and an abandoned old sign.

"Otherwise, I might get bored and change my mind!"

I didn't say a word, just kept running until a hand suddenly reached out and pulled me into a small door.

"...Who?" Suddenly pulled like that, my brain cells hadn't even started to react before the door slammed shut and locked.

The room was dark, but someone immediately turned on a small lamp.

Feng Hua sat pale-faced on a square wooden crate, with another similar one beside her.

The hot coffee in her hands seemed unable to offer her complete peace of mind, but upon seeing me, it was as if a source of warmth enveloped her, and all the symptoms of her chill vanished.

"You're really getting more and more formidable..." she said sarcastically, "Everyone's looking for you, wanting you dead. No wonder you called Fei Yue tonight saying you 'couldn't live'!"

"Feng Hua..." another voice said softly from inside the room; it was Fei Yue.

"How...how did you know I was here?"

Feng Hua must have been nearby when I called Fei Yue, otherwise she shouldn't have known.

“Follow the crow,” Fei Yue said. “It was here when I saw you last time. Crows aren’t common around here; I was just trying my luck.”

“I saw it near the construction site too; it was here during the day,” Feng Hua added. “Now, can you explain what’s going on?”

“Hey bro, shall we play hide-and-seek now?” The decadent man’s footsteps were getting closer. “You seem to have forgotten that I know where you’re hiding. This isn’t challenging at all; I just want to sleep!”

“It’s him?” Fei Yue recognized the voice.

I stared in horror at the flimsy wooden door. Without a strong latch, it wouldn’t withstand a kick from the decadent man. I couldn’t help but shout, “You guys better get out of here! He has a gun!”

“Didn’t I say last time that I had to get your answer this time?” Feng Hua ignored me completely. “Fei Yue!”

“Yes!”

“I have some questions for this person; it’ll take a little time. Go chase away that fly outside.”

After saying that, Feng Hua lifted the wooden lid of the cubicle box next to the chair, revealing it to be full of guns and ammunition for an immediate live-action CS game.

"This is a special case, all restrictions are lifted, take whatever you need!"

Hearing this, Fei Yue immediately began to arm herself.

An M16 semi-automatic rifle, bullets, and a few grenades... not just one fly, but an entire swarm of flies could be wiped out!

"I'll be right back." After saying that, she gently closed the door.

"Now we can begin." Feng Hua turned to me.

She didn't intend to waste time and said bluntly, "Time is limited, so I'll ask and you answer!

If you want us to help you, you'd better tell the truth. Things have gotten so big now, you can't hide it for long."

She was right, this area was full of teenagers running around with "soul-binding items," they didn't know the meaning of "keeping quiet." If we were to unfortunately run into the extreme sports club, it would be beyond what my lies could cover up.

“I’ve lost part of my memory, so I can only answer what I know.” I stated this upfront, regardless of whether she believed me or not.

She narrowed her eyes and asked without further explanation, “What’s your name?”

“Xiao Mo.”

“Full name?”

“I forgot.”

Her brows furrowed deeper.

“Where are you from?”

I recalled the newspaper report about my death. Although it indicated which district, this vague answer would likely only displease her further.

After thinking for a moment, I slowly said, “I don’t know…”

Upon hearing this, she was indeed somewhat displeased, but still continued to ask, “Why did you pretend to be a student of Sefer Academy? What was your purpose in approaching us?”

“I pretended to be a student… simply because of my curiosity about Sefer Academy. As for approaching us… actually, it was unintentional.” I stammered.

Hearing all this unproductive nonsense, her interlaced fingers showed her impatience.

The sudden sound of gunfire outside, with its tense rhythm, did nothing to dispel the oppressive atmosphere inside the room.

“Alright!” Feng Hua paused for a few seconds to calm herself before asking again, “Please briefly explain why those people outside are chasing you.”

This question was much easier!

“I was framed. Some guy is spreading false rumors everywhere, deceiving people that killing me would bring them great benefits. Those people believed it, so…” I blurted out.

But Feng Hua seemed unable to tolerate the loopholes in my words and immediately stopped me from continuing: “Wait, why would someone spreading rumors frame you? What benefits would they gain from killing you? Why would so many people believe it?”

“It’s because…”

An explosion almost deafened me.

Of course, Feng Hua didn’t hear a single one of my crucial last few sentences. She angrily muttered a few words about Fei Yue’s lack of restraint, but she was the one who gave me the weapon and she was the one who lifted the restrictions, so she had no reason to slap herself now.

“Feng Hua! Feng Hua!” Fei Yue called from outside the door, “Some more people are coming!”

They must have followed my scent! Or… it was Crow who brought the news!

“They know I’m here. If they don’t let me leave, the number of enemies will be overwhelming,” I said firmly, and I wasn’t joking.

Feng Hua pondered for a moment, then stood up and pushed back her chair.

Below the cube was a staircase leading to the underground.

“There’s a shared storage room down there, so it only leads to the next house,” she said. “I just discovered that. You can leave from here, but I can’t guarantee you’ll escape safely.”

I didn’t know if escaping from here or the next house made any difference.

“Thank you.” I still walked down the stairs.

Perhaps the difference wouldn’t be significant, but at least it would save them some trouble. As I walked down the fourth step, Feng Hua kicked me hard in the back.

“This is your punishment for being dishonest.”

My pained expression seemed to give her a good laugh.

“Next time you won’t escape so easily, and you won’t get away with a single penny of the money you owe me.”

“I know…” I rubbed my aching spot, replying with a splitting headache.

"If you know, then stop dragging your feet! With you gone, Feiyue and I will be much safer, especially since we have a box of weapons!" she said casually, tossing down a flashlight before pushing the wooden box back to its original spot.
