Romantic Encounters in the Daughter Village of Western Hunan

    page views:1  Publication date:2023-03-23
Xiangxi has a long history of matrilineal villages practicing "walking marriage." This practice involves men and women without a fixed marital relationship. At night, women in each household open their doors and wait for the men to enter and engage in sexual activity. Afterwards, the men bear no responsibility, making it a paradise in the eyes of many men.

I once personally experienced a walking marriage, a thrilling and sensual experience. It all started with the mysterious customs of that ancient village.

That year, I was eighteen. On my birthday, I received two gifts: news that my girlfriend, Tingting, had cheated on me, and my college entrance exam results. Suddenly, I became a young man who had lost both his career and love life, aimlessly wandering around the village.

Just then, Li Wei, a fellow villager, approached me, saying he could introduce me to a good job—a chance to experience some serious sex. He said with good luck, I could earn ten or twenty thousand yuan in a summer.

My eyes widened when I heard that amount. At that time, I was struggling with the cost of repeating a year of high school. If I could have that ten or twenty thousand yuan, I could repeat a year and definitely pass the exam next year.

"Is this really true?" It wasn't that I didn't trust Li Wei, but the whole thing sounded too bizarre, completely beyond my understanding of the world. But this guy winked at me, confidently telling me it was his inside information.

"Of course it's true! Not only do you not have to do any work, but there are also plenty of young, fresh girls to play with. Once the girl gets pregnant, you get paid and leave—cash on delivery." Li Wei patted his chest, making grand promises and repeatedly assuring me that this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Not only could I get intimate with her, but I could also earn a hefty commission—a win-win situation. "

No way! You believe this? This is a complete scam! It's either a honey trap or they're asking for a deposit; it's all old stuff from TV shows." I felt Li Wei had been around for so many years and couldn't even see through this little trick.

But Li Wei insisted on taking me along, telling me about the mysterious customs of that place—walking marriage.

I'd heard of the concept of "walking marriage" before, but it was just a legend from a matriarchal society. Villages where it actually existed no longer existed; it only appeared a few times in fairy tales. So I looked at Li Wei with great suspicion, thinking he was deliberately playing a trick on me.

"I'm serious," Li Wei said, "the place I'm taking you to is called Milong Village. There are only women in the town, no men. All reproduction relies on walking marriage. When a woman leaves, the village chief gives her a big red envelope, and if she gets pregnant, the envelope gets even thicker." He spoke with great conviction, even giving a very convincing example: the neighbor, Amao.

This Amao had been a good-for-nothing for years, but last year he suddenly built a two-story house in the village, surprising everyone. I immediately believed Li Wei and begged him to take me with him.

"Brother Wei, I was being foolish just now. My tuition for repeating a year is all up to you." I placed all my hopes on Li Wei. He'd been out there for years, and he definitely knew how to make money better than I did. If everything was as he said, then my luck had truly turned around.

"That's right. Follow me, and I'll definitely make you a fortune." Li Wei's eyes lit up when he saw me agree, as if he hadn't found a companion but had captured prey.

But I couldn't care less now. My family's money was almost gone. If I didn't find a way to make some quick money, even if I stayed in school for another three years, I wouldn't have a chance to go back.

The next morning, I packed my things and left the village with Li Wei. My parents thought I was going to work with the other young people in the village, and they slipped five hundred yuan into my hand before I left.

That was a month's income for my family. Holding those few red bills, I swore that I would earn it back a hundredfold in two months.

"Cheng Hao, hurry up, everyone's waiting for you." I saw Li Wei waving at me from afar when I reached the village entrance. It turned out that Li Wei and I weren't the only ones going to Milong Village; Chen Qi, Lao San, and Amao from the next village were also there.

Amao had introduced us to Milong Village. He said that during the breeding season, many men were needed for the "walking marriage" (a form of marriage where men visit each other to

practice sexual relations). The village chief had specifically asked him to go back to the village and select some strong young men to help the women there reproduce. He promised double the reward if the task was successful. Having such a successful case to lead us all made me feel much more at ease. However, Amao wasn't just introducing us for free. As soon as we got into the van, the five hundred yuan in my pocket went to the introduction fee.

"Don't worry about it. There will be plenty of opportunities to make money once we get to Milong Town." Seeing my troubled expression, Amao immediately patted my shoulder twice, as if we were going to develop a gold mine and soon become rich and well-off.

"Brother Mao is right. It's just five hundred yuan. You could pay more for a prostitute in the city, let alone a whole village of pretty girls. It's worth it even if we don't get paid." Li Wei nudged me when he saw me hesitating, telling me not to offend Brother Mao. The others didn't say anything, so I could only swallow my anger.

However, after we got on the bus, Ah Mao did something very strange. He took out a few small bottles and waved them in front of me. "Hold out your hands, I need to borrow some blood."

Chapter Two: The Mystery of the Ancient Village

"Brother Mao, we're just going to work. What do you need our blood for?" Ah Mao actually wanted to take our fingertips for testing. This strange request made me nervous again, afraid that Ah Mao wanted to sell our organs and that's why he needed our fingertips for matching.

"Cheng Hao, have you gone crazy from all those years of schooling? Women over there want healthy children, so naturally they have to make sure the man isn't sick. If I wanted to sell you, I would have knocked you out already!" Seeing my hesitation, A Mao immediately cursed at me. He opened the car door and told me in a condescending tone that I could get out immediately if I didn't want to.

"Brother Mao, don't be angry. Cheng Hao is young and doesn't understand." Li Wei quickly stepped in to smooth things over after seeing A Mao's anger. The others didn't seem to care much either. When A Mao extended the silver needle, they naturally extended their fingers, letting him take as much as he wanted.

I could only extend my finger for A Mao to draw blood, but as soon as the silver needle pierced my finger, I immediately felt dizzy, and I heard a burst of music, like someone was having a wedding.

"Cheng Hao, you're such a coward! You fainted over such a small amount of blood. If it were a girl's first time, you'd probably faint on the bed right away." The others laughed incessantly after seeing my pale face. They compared their own bodies, wishing they could find a woman to test their skills on immediately.

Li Wei and the others took turns telling dirty jokes in the car. I was always at school and didn't have anything to talk about with them, so I just curled up and slept in the car.

The journey was far from smooth, and the constant bumps and swaying made the whole van feel like it was going to fall apart. It took us a full day and night to reach Milong Village. During this time, I seemed to have been sleeping the whole time. Even when I occasionally got out of the car, I couldn't see the road signs clearly.

"Cheng Hao, wake up! We've finally arrived at a good place." Li Wei forcefully pulled me out of the car and made me stand on the edge of a cliff to look down. After a thin mist was blown away by the wind, a village shaped like an octagon was vaguely revealed from the trees.

"This is Milong Village?" I never expected that a village actually existed deep in these mountains and forests. It still retains its primitive appearance, with no roads leading out; the only way to reach the village entrance is on foot. If A Mao hadn't brought us here, I don't think I would have found this place in my entire life.

"That's right, this is where we'll make our fortune," A Mao called out behind us, then told us to get our luggage from the car and prepare to walk down the mountain. But just then, I noticed something very wrong: Chen Qi was nowhere to be seen.

"Brother Mao, where's Brother Qi? Should we wait for him?" I called out to everyone, reminding them that someone had fallen behind. This place was in the middle of nowhere; without a guide, they'd definitely get lost.

"Cheng Hao, are you alright? Chen Qi failed his medical exam and got off the bus early this morning. He even said goodbye to you guys. You've already forgotten him?" When I mentioned Chen Qi, A Mao looked at me incredulously. He gave me a hard whack on the back of the head, thinking I had dementia.

"Luckily, this place doesn't require a brain scan. Don't talk nonsense after we enter the village, don't embarrass me!" A Mao scolded me a few times before running ahead to lead the way. He hadn't brought any luggage today, only the kit for collecting our blood samples.

I felt he walked incredibly fast. It was almost dark, but he seemed to see the way as he weaved through the bushes.

The rapid pace made me feel a chill in the air, and the further down the mountain we went, the colder it became. My heart began to race again. I glanced furtively at Li Wei beside me. "Did you see Chen Qi this morning?"

"No, I went to pee when he left. Hurry up and catch up, don't fall behind," Li Wei whispered. His eyes were fixed on A Mao ahead. In just over half an hour, he had already darted ahead of us by more than ten meters; we'd be out of sight if we went any further into the woods.

"Brother Mao, slow down, we can't keep up!" Li Wei and I were panting heavily behind us, and Lao San wasn't faring much better. He was already fat, and after this long march, he looked like a man pulled from the water, terrifyingly large in the moonlight.

"You've barely got any energy to work! Hurry up, we'll be lighting the lamps soon!" A Mao shouted from ahead, warning us that we had to get into the village before the lamps were lit, or we'd have to spend the night in the mountains.

"No, Brother Mao, don't leave us here!" Li Wei was known for his bravery, but even he dared not act alone in this eerie forest. The three of us stumbled and staggered along for a long time, finally losing sight of Ah Mao.

"Don't go any further, I'm too exhausted." Sanpang waved his hand at us. He had used up all his strength in bed, and now his legs were completely weak; he didn't want to take another step. I was also exhausted, and I plopped down on a pile of stones nearby.

"What are these things?!" The pile of stones wasn't sturdy; it crumbled as soon as I sat on it, the sharp edges cutting my palms and dripping my blood onto the stones.

"Cheng Hao, these stones represent lonely graves. If your blood drips on them, the female ghost in the grave will haunt you, hahahaha." Lao San laughed gleefully after seeing me injured. His words startled me, and I jumped up from the pile of stones.

"Don't talk nonsense! There are no ghosts here!" I scolded the third brother, but then I nervously examined the pile of stones. There were no bones beneath them, only a small note.

"Don't enter the village." The words were written very hastily, looking like some child's prank. I waved the note in front of Li Wei. "See? There are other people here. Maybe A Mao is playing a trick on us." "

What's the use of finding a note? It's all your fault for holding us back. Now we can't find the village entrance and can't go home. We're just going to starve to death here." This place was unfamiliar to us; no matter which way we went, we'd always end up back where we started. After circling around a few times, Li Wei deflated and vented all his anger on the third brother and me.

"Why are you in such a hurry? Ah Mao will definitely come back for us. Besides, this village is so short of men right now, the village chief won't waste such high-quality specimens like us." I comforted Li Wei for a moment, then realized my predicament. The light from my phone flickered a few times and then went out, plunging us all into darkness.

Fortunately, this Milong Village has a tradition of lighting lanterns at night. After the surroundings were completely dark, I saw many orange lights appearing on distant buildings, guiding us all.

"Li Wei, get up! Let's move forward before these lights go out!" I pulled Li Wei and Lao San up and ran towards the candlelight. This was indeed the direction to enter the village, but when we reached the village entrance, we found something was wrong. It was too quiet. The entire village was lit by candlelight, but there wasn't a single person to be seen on the streets.

I suddenly remembered Ah Mao's words. He told us that we had to enter the village before the lanterns were lit, otherwise we would have to stay in the woods until dawn. This made me regret my rash decision to come in, fearing that I would become the second person eliminated after Chen Qi.

"Let's go back, so no one sees us." I tugged at Li Wei's arm, intending to get him back into the woods, but he was already blinded by the streetlights and refused to leave with me.

"Damn it, we're already here and you're still telling me to leave? If you want to spend the night in the woods, go ahead. I heard from A Mao that you can go into any house with candlelight on." Li Wei had been itching to get into the village and wanted to dash into any of the stilted houses with candlelight.

Chapter 3 Entering the Attic

"Don't wander around. If it's not what you're looking for, you might get hacked to death without even knowing it." I grabbed Li Wei's collar to calm him down. Now that we'd found this place, there was no need to rush. Let's check things out first. Anyway, with so many girls here, they couldn't possibly run away.

"Cheng Hao is right, let's take a look around first. At least we should see which girls are pretty; I don't want to end up with a dinosaur." This time, the third brother sided with me. He tugged at his large earlobe, then suddenly pointed southwest, confidently telling us, "There's the sound of gongs and drums over there, let's go check it out."

"How can you hear that? I can't hear anything." I perked up my ears after hearing the third brother's words, but all I could hear was the wind; there was no sound of gongs and drums at all.

"I have 'fan ears' that can hear farther than you, just follow me." The third brother confidently walked ahead, and Li Wei and I, unable to find our way, could only follow behind.

This guy's 'fan ears' really worked; soon we arrived at an ancient stage. It seemed that some kind of ceremony was being held there, and the entire village seemed to have gathered there, surrounded by several layers of people, making the entire stage completely packed.

Li Wei and I could only watch from the outside. A Mao hadn't lied to us; this Milong Village really was full of women. They wore traditional Xiangxi clothing, and each wore a large silver hat. The silver ornaments gleamed brilliantly in the moonlight, leaving me momentarily stunned.

The girls here were exceptionally beautiful, their bright eyes sparkling and always looking around. I noticed there were no older women in the village; these girls all looked to be around twenty, many still bearing the innocence of youth.

Their shyness and rosy cheeks stirred a desire within me. If I could have a few encounters with these girls, I'd be willing to pay anything, even if it meant nothing at all, let alone ten or twenty thousand.

"This isn't what A Mao said! With so many people, can we just grab one and take her away? And that girl in red, I'm taking her—no one can take her from me!" Li Wei and Lao San were already drooling over the girls, their eyes glued to them.

Especially Li Wei, who already had several casual sex partners outside, had been feeling incredibly pent up in the village these past few days. Now, seeing these pretty girls, he was practically bursting with lust, itching to pounce on them and have his way with them.

"Let's watch first. Since this Milong Village is real, are you worried about not having girls?" I stood on tiptoe, trying to see what was going on on the stage, but unfortunately, the girls' headdresses were just too high. Even with my 178cm height, it was useless; I could only watch anxiously from the outside.

Just then, the girl standing next to us suddenly screamed, "There's a man!"

Her scream made everyone turn around. As the bull-horn-like silver ornaments rushed towards us, I felt as if I saw some extremely lethal weapon, so I frantically waved my arms to show that I had nothing to do with the screaming girl.

"I didn't touch her, none of the three of us touched her!" I tried my best to prove my innocence. The girl's reaction was really strange. She hugged her body tightly, as if she had been violated. But according to Ah Mao, the women here should be eager to have sex with men. Shouldn't they be pouncing on us at this moment?

"Is a man worth screaming like that!" Just as I was at a loss, the crowd suddenly parted and I saw a woman in a purplish-red dress walking over. She looked to be in her early thirties, slightly older than the other girls. She also had the most silver ornaments of all the girls. There were dozens of silver bells hanging from her silver necklace alone.

I could tell this woman was highly respected in the village, so I introduced myself first. "Hello, my name is Cheng Hao. We were introduced by A Mao. We got separated from him in the woods and came here after hearing noises." It was

the first time I'd been surrounded by so many women, and I was inevitably a little nervous, especially with the woman in purple in front of me. She looked serious, as if she were about to interrogate us.

"So A Mao was talking about you guys. My name is Qing Miao, and I'm the village chief. Today is our village's moon-worshiping ceremony, and we don't usually receive guests. But since you're already here, please wait in that stilted house over there." The village chief's attitude towards us was relatively gentle. She pointed to a half-blackened stilted house next to the ancient stage and told us to wait inside.

The house looked several hundred years old, with some burn marks on the bottom. Li Wei and I glanced at the stairs at the entrance and both felt they couldn't support the weight of the three of us, but the village chief had sent two girls with us, practically forcing us into the stilted house.

"What are you afraid of? It's just going upstairs!" Not wanting to embarrass myself in front of these girls, I led the way up.

The stairs were incredibly sturdy; even five people could stand on them without a problem. The only one whose legs felt a little weak was Fatty Sun; every step he took made a creaking sound, causing the girls behind us to laugh.

"Men cannot watch the Moon Worship Ceremony. Please put on your blindfolds." Before I could even see the room's layout, the two girls took out several black cloths and blindfolded the three of us.

I could only accept this custom, but the two girls seemed worried, watching us constantly, as if afraid we would peek.

"Girl, what exactly does the Moon Worship Ceremony mean? Are there any taboos to follow?" I feigned a humble and eager-to-learn attitude, wanting to know more about this village. This time, the girl answered readily. It turned out that the Moon Worship Ceremony was a coming-of-age ceremony; once this ceremony was completed, these girls were considered adults.

"After we worship the moon, we can hang red scarves at our door. You'll have to come knocking on our door then," the two girls said casually, but it sent a shiver down my spine.

The matriarchal system was actually still in use in Milong Village, and these girls were only just coming of age today—did that mean all these beautiful girls were virgins?

"When will this ceremony end? Can we go in a bit?" My mind started racing, and I desperately wanted to take off my blindfold and get a good look at the girls below.

After all, this was my first time, and if I could choose, I'd naturally choose a young and beautiful one to warm my bed.

Before, with Tingting, we'd only held hands; she never let me touch her lips, saying she'd save the good stuff for our wedding day. But then she went to a hotel with someone else, leaving me completely cuckolded.

So now I couldn't wait for a warm body to experience what it was like to spend the night with a woman, especially with these beautiful girls.

"It's still early. Today is our big day. Why are you in such a hurry? Besides, on the day of the moon-worshiping ceremony, we need to pray to the gods to bless us with the birth of offspring. We can't touch men at night." The two girls beside us were extremely talkative, answering almost every question we asked.

They used the word "touch" when referring to men, a habit that was the opposite of what we experienced in the outside world, which I found very interesting. I wondered if these girls were exceptionally proactive in bed, enough to keep men busy.

"Why were you so scared when you saw us? Aren't there any other men here?" I thought about the girl's scream earlier and still felt something was amiss, wanting to find out more from these girls.

This time, they didn't answer me directly. Instead, they gave me a coquettish laugh. "You'll naturally learn about things in this village once you've stayed long enough. We're going to take a bath and change clothes later, so you'd better wait here obediently. Otherwise, the village chief will definitely punish you."

The two girls' laughter was extremely crisp. When they mentioned taking a bath and changing clothes, I couldn't help but swallow. Even though it was my first time, I knew what to do after taking a bath and changing clothes.

Chapter Four: Fragrant Bath

"How many can we touch in one night? My fighting power is amazing; I could easily take on ten at once." The third brother beside me couldn't hold back any longer. He rolled his greasy body on the ground, then sniffed the two girls. "You two should stay here tonight. With me here, you don't need to pray to the gods; I guarantee you'll be pregnant by the next day."

The third brother kept boasting about his abilities, but his words were immediately met with a rebuttal from Li Wei. "Don't listen to him. He's all show and no substance. He might not even be able to handle one. I'm the real deal."

Li Wei and the third brother were practically vying for the job, constantly touting their own strengths while simultaneously belittling each other's stamina. I felt these two were completely superfluous. There were plenty of girls here, few wolves, and even without saying anything, they could attract plenty of attention.

Besides, I didn't think these two girls liked their blatant language. Their rambling hadn't elicited a single response, making me think the two girls had probably already left.

"Girl, what's that smell? It smells so good!" I smelled a unique fragrance in the air, the scent of camellias, very rich and mellow. This floral fragrance gave me a chance to change the subject and see if the two girls were still around.

"That's a local specialty, Hundred Flower Oil. Girls use it to maintain their youth and beauty. When we bathe later, we'll add this Hundred Flower Oil to the hot spring water for the best effect. The annual moon-worshiping ceremony is also the day we refine the Hundred Flower Oil. Smell how wonderful it is!" The two girls hadn't left; they just didn't want to talk to Lao San and Li Wei.

I could feel that the two girls spoke to me much more politely. Their soft, gentle voices made my bones feel numb, so I took the opportunity to ask about how to make the Hundred Flower Oil, intending to promote this product of the ancient village.

"This Hundred Flower Oil smells even better than cosmetics in the mall. If it were sold in a big city, it would definitely be sold out in no time." I couldn't help but sniff. This floral fragrance was very pleasant and could quickly restore one's strength and accelerate blood circulation.

Over the past few years, I had cultivated a state of extreme self-control around Tingting, so that I could remain calm even if I wanted it. But under the influence of this herbal oil, I knew that my body had given itself away. Even with a blindfold on, I could feel the extent of the changes in my body.

"The recipe for the Hundred Flowers Oil is very complicated; outsiders can't learn it. You two stay here quietly, and someone will take you out after we've finished bathing." The two girls chuckled coquettishly, one of them lightly touching my pants, almost making me lose control.

"So this is what a man's body is like," one of the girls muttered softly, as if it were her first time touching a male creature.

The other girl kept scolding me, as if this had violated a taboo in the village. "What are you doing? The village chief said you can only touch."

I was about to give them a lecture on physiological health when suddenly the sound of gongs and drums rang out in the village, like a rallying cry, and the two girls immediately ran away from me.

As they came downstairs, the silver ornaments on their bodies made a jingling sound, a particularly pleasant sound that made my heart flutter.

I imagined the scene of beautiful women emerging from their bath in my mind, and I was already in a state of pre-battle preparation. Just thinking about how the girl's little hand had been intentionally or unintentionally touching my eyelids made me smile.

"Finally free! Cheng Hao, what are you still wearing that thing for? Come over here and take a look." As soon as the two girls left, Li Wei and Lao San ripped off their blindfolds, eager to examine all the girls below the stage.

But I dared not move, afraid of breaking the village rules and losing my chance to make money. This cautious demeanor made Li Wei spit on the ground, thinking I was too cowardly.

"Cheng Hao, such a good opportunity and you still won't open your eyes and look? All those girls have gone to take a bath. How can you still stay here?" Seeing that I didn't move, Li Wei ripped off my blindfold and shoved me onto the balcony of the stilted house.

The crowd that had been gathered around the ancient stage was long gone, leaving only some black liquid spilled on the ground, looking like water stains. The smell of the herbal oil seemed to have come from the ancient stage, sometimes strong, sometimes faint, making one's heart itch.

Li Wei and Lao San both wanted to go down and check, especially Lao San, whose keen ears had already heard the sound of the pool. He confidently told us that the group of girls should be in the mountains to the north.

"Let's wait here. What if we offend the village chief and he doesn't want us anymore?" Unlike Li Wei and Lao San, who were not short of money and were only here to enjoy the company of beautiful girls, I was here for the tuition fees for repeating my studies, so I was naturally much more worried than they were.

"Look at you, Cheng Hao, why are you waiting in this dilapidated building instead of watching the pretty girls bathe? There's nothing here except spider webs." Li Wei urged me to go out with them. It was better to take the initiative than to stay here and wait, lest someone else get there first.

"Let's wait. Didn't that girl say she would come to find us after they finished bathing?" I didn't dare to cross the line, which made Li Wei and Lao San lose their patience. They really left me alone in this stilted building, leaving me to fend for myself.

"Are you two really leaving?" Now that I was alone in this place, everything around me looked incredibly terrifying, especially the animal skulls hanging on the wall, which constantly exuded an aura of death.

I knew that in these minority areas, there were always all sorts of strange witchcraft and medical techniques, so I huddled on the balcony, not daring to take a single step closer to the house. In my dazed state,

I heard the sound of footsteps on the stairs. I thought the person who was supposed to pick me up had finally arrived, but when I opened my eyes, I saw Amao. His entire body was soaking wet, and his eyes were staring straight at me, as if he had just crawled out of the water.

"Brother Mao, shouldn't we go get to work now?" I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Amao. Although Amao had a bad temper, at least he was someone I knew.

But today, Ah Mao was indeed acting very strangely. He squatted in front of me for a long time before finally uttering a single word from his chest: "Go!"

"Go where? What's wrong here?" I was startled when I heard Ah Mao say that, and instinctively grabbed his arm, trying to get him to explain.

His body was incredibly slippery, the texture more like some kind of oily soap than water, and it smelled wonderful, just like the herbal oil I had just smelled.

"Brother Mao, you're having too much fun, did you fall into the oil vat?" I thought Ah Mao had fallen into the vat of herbal oil, which was why he smelled like that, so I couldn't help but tease him a bit. I felt that he was completely exhausted, his eyes devoid of any spirit.

"Go!" Ah Mao suddenly widened his eyes and roared at me, his ferocious face suddenly appearing in front of me, as if he wanted to swallow me whole.

"No!" I was terrified by the sight before me. I sat up abruptly, trying to run away, but after only two steps, I bumped into someone, landing squarely on a soft stomach.

"Cheng Hao, why are you running? How was last night?" Lao San and Li Wei had returned, both looking radiant and in good spirits. Only then did I realize that it was already broad daylight outside. It turned out that what I had just seen wasn't the real A Mao, but just a nightmare.

But my fingertips felt incredibly smooth. I couldn't help but put them under my nose and smell them. It was the scent of medicated oil.

Chapter Five: Bullying

"Li Wei, Lao San, did you see A Mao yesterday?" I shuddered when I smelled that scent. If the smell on my fingers really was medicated oil, then it meant that I hadn't dreamt last night, but had actually seen A Mao.

"Amao? The village chief said Amao took the money and left. Five thousand yuan per person, that kid really hit the jackpot this time." Li Wei's face was full of disdain when I asked about Amao. This guy actually got away with it all, without doing anything, just by driving us here and he made more than ten thousand yuan.

"Good thing he's gone, good thing he's gone." When I heard that Amao had left the village, I plopped down on the floor, thinking that I was overthinking it. The whole village smelled of medicated oil, and the smell on my fingers was probably just something I accidentally got on my fingers somewhere.

"Cheng Hao, are you alright? You look terrible." After noticing that something was wrong with my expression, Li Wei patted my shoulder hard. It seemed to extinguish the fire on my shoulder, making me shiver from the bottom of my heart.

"I'm fine, it's just too cold here, I'm having nightmares." I sniffed a couple of times. I had spent half the night on the balcony yesterday and my eyes were already watering. Now my whole body was burning up, but it was burning hot.

"You deserve it. You came with us last night to have some fun, and you'll be fine now." The third brother's smile widened even more smugly at my listless state. He held up three fingers, boasting about his achievements the previous night. "I broke three last night. If these girls hadn't given up, I would have done it a few more times."

"You're all about quantity, not quality," Li Wei scoffed, feeling the third brother was just randomly poking around with a spear, offering no real substance, unlike his own performance last night, which had the two girls begging for mercy.

These two men, bragging to each other and recounting the details of the night, completely stunned me. My mind went blank.

"You two didn't sleep with those girls last night, did you?" I looked at Li Wei and Lao San and felt like I was a complete idiot last night. They were sleeping with girls while I was left alone on the balcony, exposed to the elements. This world can't treat honest people like this.

"Of course, I slept with a girl in my arms. You didn't see the scene over there on the other side of the mountain. The whole pool was smooth and slippery, like a girl's body. You could just pick up any girl and fall asleep." The third brother still looked ecstatic as he recalled the scene from last night, while Li Wei next to him nodded repeatedly, indicating that everything the fat man said was true.

Their words almost made me vomit blood. I was the only one who obediently waited here yesterday, but I was the only one who didn't get to eat anything.

"Outrageous! Outrageous!" I wandered around the stilted house, the entire floorboards shaking with my steps, and a lot of black dust fell down with a rustling sound.

"Cheng Hao, if you couldn't do it last night, there's always tonight. Why are you in such a hurry?" The third brother and Li Wei both had wicked smiles on their faces, thinking that I was too cowardly last night. If I had gone with them, I would have already been holding a pretty girl.

"It's just a girl, I'll go get one right now... Achoo!" I didn't want to stay with those two anymore and planned to find a girl in the village to avenge myself, but the village was unusually quiet during the day. I wandered the streets for ages and didn't see a single person.

All the doors were tightly locked, and I couldn't push them open at all. In a fit of anger, I kicked one door twice. I had already boasted, and if I didn't even get to touch a girl, Li Wei and Lao San would laugh me to death.

"Didn't I tell you to wait in the stilted house? This is where the girls live. You men can't come here during the day!" I felt my luck was really bad. I had just done something wrong and someone caught me. Luckily, this time it wasn't the village chief Qingmiao who found me, but a girl who looked about eighteen or nineteen years old.

"Are you the girl in the stilted house last night?" I recognized the girl's voice; it was as clear and crisp as the silver ornaments dangling from her head.

Today, however, she wasn't wearing her traditional ethnic costume. Instead, she wore a light orange dress that looked exceptionally graceful. Even her silver jewelry was simplified to a necklace and a bracelet; otherwise, I would have heard her arrive much earlier.

"Your memory is excellent. You still recognize me even after a whole night. My name is Xiaolu, Lin Xiaolu, Lin as in Qilin (a mythical creature)." The girl gave me a bright smile. I noticed she was very beautiful, especially her captivating eyes, which possessed a natural charm that could bewitch anyone. I was momentarily stunned in front of her.

"Your surname is Lin? That's a rare surname," I muttered softly, carefully searching my memory for surnames, but I had never heard of it before.

"All the women in the village have the surname Lin. Come in and sit down. You're lucky today; this is my home." Xiaolu suddenly pushed open the door in front of me, inviting me in. When I learned that this was actually her home, I felt a little embarrassed. My first instinct was to find a rag to wipe the footprints from the doorway.

"Don't go out, don't let anyone see you." Xiaolu pushed me forcefully into the room. She hurriedly wiped the doorway with a cloth, then closed all the doors and windows, covering up any trace of my presence.

As the room became dimly lit, I suddenly felt uneasy. The room was simply decorated with only a few pieces of furniture, but it was clearly a girl's room. There was a strong smell of floral oil, and even the sheets and blankets were embroidered with brightly colored flowers.

The floral scent made my heart race. I had never been to a girl's room before, especially in this dim light. Everything seemed natural, as if something was destined to happen.

"The village chief isn't here today. You can't come during the day on ordinary days; it would be terrible if the village chief saw you." Xiaolu kept glancing out the window, and only turned to speak to me after confirming that no one had seen me.

Her cautious demeanor made it seem as if we were having an affair, which made me even more nervous than before. I'd only ever heard rumors about what happened the night before; I'd never actually done it myself. Now, seeing such a beautiful girl, I didn't know where to begin.

"Why didn't you come back to find me yesterday? Of the three of us, only I waited patiently all night, and then…" I looked up at the girl in front of me, ultimately too embarrassed to tell her what Li Wei and Lao San had done the night before. But I felt uneasy, afraid that this little deer had been violated by another man.

"Something came up last night, and the village chief went to deal with it. He forgot to call you." Xiao Lu was clearly startled when I mentioned last night, but she quickly regained her composure and gently poured me a cup of tea. "Nothing happened between me and them last night, and they broke the rules here; they'll be punished sooner or later." (

Xiaolu spoke quickly, her cheeks flushing instantly, as if she was intentionally telling me this. Such an obvious signal naturally made my heart flutter. I immediately stood up from my chair and grabbed Xiaolu's hands.

"That's wonderful, I was so afraid..." Xiaolu's hands were incredibly soft, but the moment I touched her, she recoiled like a startled fawn.

"It's a rule in our village that couples who are together at night must observe proper conduct during the day and cannot touch each other." Xiaolu placed her hands behind her back, preventing me from touching her, which left me somewhat disappointed.

Xiaolu seemed to sense my thoughts. She glanced out the window and gestured to the old locust tree. "Come back tonight. As long as there's still a red scarf hanging on this old locust tree, it means no one's home. You can come up then."
