Do we need to check the other person's health certificate, etc.?

We currently lack experience and are in the learning and trial phase. I'd like to ask those with experience: in the current social environment rife with infectious diseases, is it advisable to check both parties' health certificates? I wonder if anyone in the community has had any painful lessons or experiences with this before?
