Let us forever form a carefree friendship, and meet again in the distant Milky Way. Back in school, I often went drinking with classmates. The wine back then always tasted sweet. One cup, five cups, a bottle—it was always so easy and carefree, without pretense. We said what we wanted to say, did what we wanted to do, everything natural and unrestrained. Being with classmates was an exchange of pure hearts, a collision of emotions. I loved that feeling, so much so that I often craved wine, wanting to drink heartily and feel comfortable even when drunk. Now, that craving for wine is gone; it's replaced by a dislike. Wine has become a beverage to accompany meals, devoid of any sweetness. Now, it's mostly just poured down, glass after glass. "Too much wine turns into water," meaning it's no different from water. What's swallowed is liquid, what's expelled is bitterness. Today, I had the intention to drink alone, hoping to recapture that former blissful feeling, but after one cup, bitterness overwhelmed my entire palate, making it impossible to drink any more. Only then did I realize, "Drinking alone is without companionship," and I hastily removed the wine vessels, vowing never to drink alone again. If only I had friends today, I would drink to my heart's content, wishing only to remain drunk forever, never to wake!
