Internationally renowned sex psychologist Tetrand said, "Pre-coital massage between lovers can enhance male sexual ability and libido, and it is also very effective for women, helping them to let go of their feminine reserve and fully enjoy the pleasure of sex." Ancient Chinese sexological literature has always emphasized the need for couples to have a sufficient mental and physical preparation period before intercourse, avoiding hasty actions. The bamboo slips unearthed in Changsha, *Yang Sheng Fang*, repeatedly mention "Xi Dao" (i.e., pre-coital preparation), advocating that couples should first caress and massage each other to concentrate their minds, and pointing out the "five desires" function and actions of Xi Dao, aiming to arouse but not ignite, gradually synchronizing the desires of both partners. The so-called "Five Desires" refer to five methods: * **Xu Fen (slowly kissing and rubbing the lips, cheeks, chin, shoulders, chest, and navel between husband and wife)**, * **Xu Bao (also called Xu Bo, embracing and gently rubbing with arms and legs)**, * **Xu Cao (gently rubbing the chest, back, and buttocks)**, and * **Xu Han (slowly shaking the chest, abdomen, legs, and buttocks)**. Sun Simiao of the Tang Dynasty, building upon this idea, further clarified that couples should not engage in intercourse before sexual desire is aroused. They must first engage in gentle play and massage to achieve spiritual harmony and emotional connection, thus achieving a "self-strengthening" effect. He further pointed out that the "way of caressing and massaging" before intercourse can "prolong life." He believed that through the "Five Slows" of mutual touching, holding, stroking, kissing, embracing, and shaking, both partners could be aroused and sexually harmonious. These sexual techniques, known as "erotic massage" before intercourse in ancient times, still have practical value and scientific significance today.
