Three stories that reveal the truth to many people

    page views:1  Publication date:2014-07-16
1. Person A dislikes eggs and always gives them to Person B whenever they receive one.
At first, Person B is very grateful, but over time
, she gets used to it. Once she gets used to it, she takes it for granted .
Then one day, Person A gives the egg to Person C, and Person B is upset.
She forgets that the egg originally belonged to Person A, and Person A could give it to whomever they wanted. They have a big fight and never speak to each other again.
2. One hot summer, a group of people went rafting.
A girl lost her flip-flops while playing in the water, and they sank to the bottom.
When they reached the shore, the ground was covered in scorching hot pebbles, and they had a long way to walk.
The girl asked for help, but everyone only had one pair of flip-flops.
She was annoyed because she was used to asking for help and getting a satisfactory response by being charming.
But this time, she didn't get one. She suddenly felt that everyone was bad and heartless.
Later, a boy gave her his flip-flops and walked barefoot on the scorching hot pebbles for a long time,
jokingly calling it a "teppanyaki grill."
The girl expressed her gratitude, and the boy said, "Remember, no one is obligated to help you.
Helping you is out of friendship, not helping you is perfectly acceptable."
The girl remembered the boy's words and from then on learned to cherish those who offered help and to repay them even more.
Often, we hope to receive kindness from others.
At first, we are endlessly grateful.
But over time, it becomes a habit.
We become accustomed to someone's kindness and take it for granted.
If one day they stop being kind, we feel resentful.
Actually, it's not that others have become unkind, but that our demands have increased.
We become accustomed to receiving and forget to be grateful.
III. One evening, a sheep was playing alone on a hillside.
Suddenly, a wolf sprang out from the trees, intending to eat the sheep. The sheep jumped up, desperately resisting with its horns and loudly calling for help from its friends.
The ox glanced at the spot from the bushes, saw it was a wolf, and ran away;
the horse looked down, saw it was a wolf, and galloped off;
the donkey stopped, saw it was a wolf, and quietly slipped down the hillside;
the pig passed by, saw it was a wolf, and charged down the hillside;
the rabbit, upon hearing the commotion, darted away like an arrow.
The dog, hearing the sheep's cries from below, rushed up the hill, sprang from the bushes, and bit the wolf's neck
. The wolf howled in pain and, taking advantage of the dog's pause for breath, fled in terror.
Back home, all the friends came.
The ox said, "Why didn't you tell me? My horns could have ripped out the wolf's guts."
The horse said, "Why didn't you tell me? My hooves could have crushed the wolf's head."
The donkey said, "Why didn't you tell me? My bray would have terrified the wolf."
The pig said, "Why didn't you tell me? I could have nudged it with my snout and sent it tumbling down the hill."
The rabbit said, "Why didn't you tell me? I'm fast; I could have carried the message."
Among this noisy herd, only the dog was absent.
True friendship isn't about sweet words, but about the hand that reaches out to you in your time of need.
Those who surround you daily, bringing you small joys, aren't necessarily true friends.
But those who seem distant yet are always watching over you, who don't flatter you when you're happy, but
quietly offer support and care when you need them—those are the true friends!
