Prologue 1.
Old Tong was very nervous, extremely nervous. He didn't understand why a man in his early fifties would be so nervous at a hotel.
Old Tong's real name was Tong Da, and he was a doctor at the First People's Hospital of City A. Although just over fifty, he looked much older than his actual age. His balding and slightly graying head, deep crow's feet around his eyes, and dark, rough skin made him look like someone over sixty.
Old Tong was originally from out of town. When he came to City A to make a living, it was still a backward island. Back then, he was young and energetic, hardworking, and willing to take on any challenge, so he quickly gained the trust of the local hospital and became a chief physician in his early thirties. The year he was promoted, he also got married—a double blessing, a happy life. Unfortunately, his wife was unfortunate; she left when their daughter was not yet ten years old. Later, City A experienced a resurgence, transforming into a key national development island city. From then on, it flourished, the entire island brimming with commercial activity. Real estate, tourism, and entertainment industries developed at an unprecedented pace. The hospital where Lao Tong worked became the First People's Hospital of City A, and Lao Tong took on a crucial role, leading to a life of relentless busyness.
After losing his parents, Lao Tong didn't remarry immediately out of consideration for his past relationship. Later, with the hospital's growth, the heavy workload left him no time to think about women, and with a child at home, he single-handedly raised his daughter. The dual pressures of work and life aged this once capable man in his early fifties considerably.
Thankfully, his daughter graduated from medical school last year and returned this year to help him. Moreover, after more than a decade of hard work, the hospital has seen a surge in new leadership, allowing Lao Tong to finally relinquish his burdens.
Men are strange creatures; when they're incredibly busy, their minds are consumed by work. But once the burden is lifted, the thought of women immediately arises, even for a man over fifty who knows his destiny.
But where can Lao Tong find a woman?
For over twenty years, he's never had time to focus on women. Now that he truly wants one, he can't find one anymore.
The entertainment industry in City A is booming, but he's practically a celebrity there. Decades of hard work have built him up, and many business leaders are old acquaintances. If he's recognized, his hard-earned image will be ruined.
Lao Tong racked his brains but couldn't find a foolproof solution. One day, by chance, he overheard a gynecologist complaining about young people engaging in compensated dating, causing them to fall ill and need medical attention. Suddenly, Lao Tong had an idea.
He searched online for compensated dating websites, but most were unreliable, or required real-name registration—those he dared not touch. Initially, he didn't dare spend too much time browsing these websites, and it took him a lot of time and effort to figure it out. Once a man sets his mind on something, his desire for women becomes like an addiction, growing increasingly intense and nagging at his heart. With his work gradually being handed over to subordinates, Lao Tong had more and more time to search for escort services, though he remained cautious.
His efforts paid off; one day, he somehow stumbled upon a private Weibo account and saw an offer for escort services. Without hesitation, he commented and chatted with the person. After agreeing on a time, place, and amount, Lao Tong logged off.
For safety's sake, that night Lao Tong revisited the Weibo account and reviewed every single post. Nothing seemed amiss. The content suggested the person was a student, and aside from this one, they hadn't posted any other escort service offers. Moreover, the only post expressing interest in escort services was immediately deleted, presumably to prevent others from seeing it.
Old Tong guessed that the other party also didn't know why she suddenly wanted to engage in compensated dating. Maybe she was short of money, or she had suddenly experienced some kind of shock in her studies or relationship, or maybe she wanted revenge. Anyway, at her age, she was most prone to going astray. Regardless of the reason, this compensated dating experience should be relatively safe for him.
Old Tong's only fear was that the other party intended to frame him, like taking photos to blackmail him.
Despite his anxiety, his desire for a woman still led Old Tong to the small hotel where he had proposed the meeting early. He had showered early and was sitting on the bed in a bathrobe, waiting.
Old Tong was still waiting nervously in the hotel.
He thought it over and over many times, constantly telling himself, "There shouldn't be any problems." He was so nervous that his palms were sweaty. Old Tong looked at the clock on the wall; it was already past the agreed time. He suddenly felt a jolt, "Could I have been played?"

knock sounded on the door.
"Is that the doctor in white?"
That was the name Old Tong used on his blog.
