Why is human sexual desire considered a bad thing?

There are roughly only two things a person will never truly abhor in their lifetime: appetite and sexual desire. When these two desires cease, a person is close to death.
The ancients said: "Food and sex are the greatest desires of humankind." Of course, there are countless desires in life, but everyone possesses and the most prevalent of these two are these two. One is related to life and death, the other to pleasure. Without food, a person will die; without sex, a person will not die, but will be unhappy.
In China, people once believed that appetite was legitimate and justifiable; sexual desire was illegitimate, base, and dirty. This phenomenon is very peculiar, but it has its origins.
Besides the fact that a person won't die without sex, there is another reason: appetite can be satisfied alone, while the satisfaction of sexual desire often involves others. Thus, it becomes a social behavior, requiring the establishment of social relationships and adherence to social norms, which makes the satisfaction of sexual desire far more complex than the satisfaction of appetite.
Except for masturbation, other sexual interactions inevitably involve others, thus becoming a social issue rather than a purely personal one.
The social attributes of sexual activity sometimes involve legal issues: some sexual activities are legal, while others are illegal.
The legal definition of sexual activity varies greatly within a society: all societies prohibit forced sexual acts, and rape, molestation, and sexual harassment are punished by law; some societies punish prostitution and obscene materials, while others do not; some societies punish group sex, while most do not.
The social attributes of sexual activity sometimes involve moral issues: some sexual activities are considered wrong and violate social morality. The most typical example is adultery. It violates the commitment of fidelity in marriage and violates marital morality.
In some societies, it is severely punished, such as stoning in Arab countries and the traditional Chinese practice of drowning in a pig cage. In China, extramarital sexual behavior by public officials is occasionally punished with administrative demerits or dismissal (Yi Junqing of the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau); while in most societies, it is limited to public condemnation (Clinton and Berlusconi).
The social attributes of sexual activity also involve sexual orientation: homosexuality, heterosexuality, bisexuality, and transgender (LGBT). Societies and cultures vary greatly in their views and norms regarding sexual orientation. Some fully accept it, while others only accept heterosexuality and do not allow other sexual orientations.
Many societies have illegal homosexuality, punishable by imprisonment or even death (seven countries still impose the death penalty). Even in civilized countries like Britain, great artists like Oscar Wilde and great scientists like Alan Turing were once imprisoned for it. Queen Elizabeth II did not overturn Turing's conviction until 2013.
In short, unlike appetite, the satisfaction of sexual desire is subject to social restrictions.
However, it should be remembered that the restrictions a society has to impose on people's sexual desire are inversely proportional to the level of happiness in that society: the more restrictions on people's sexual desire, the lower the level of happiness in that society; the fewer restrictions on people's sexual desire, the higher the level of happiness in that society.
This is simply because the satisfaction of sexual desire is related to human happiness.
