Psychological Analysis of Various Special Sexual Preferences

    page views:1  Publication date:2018-04-11
In this world, besides those who normally date, marry, and have children, there is another group who enjoy the ecstasy of special sexual experiences. They may be called patients, or even mentally ill. Nevertheless, people are still full of curiosity about their lives. These special sex enthusiasts behave very differently from ordinary people. Exhibitionism refers to the repeated exposure of one's

genitals
to unfamiliar members of the opposite sex to obtain sexual satisfaction. It is often accompanied by masturbation, and is most common in adolescent males, especially in the spring. Aside from exhibitionism, there are no further sexual desires. The act involves suddenly exposing an erect penis to a woman, deriving sexual satisfaction from the victim's emotional/behavioral reactions (anger, fear, avoidance, etc.). Each exhibitionism is preceded by a sudden, intense, and uncontrollable desire accompanied by intense tension, followed by relief. Exhibitionism caused by intellectual disability, alcoholism, organic brain disease, or mental illness does not fall under the category of exhibitionism.

Psychology often views exhibitionism as a stagnation in psychosexual development. Those who exhibit this behavior experienced intense sexual stimulation in childhood, causing their psychosexual development to stagnate at that stage. They cannot develop a mature and normal sex life with age, instead satisfying their sexual desires in a childish manner, and cannot cover their genitals like normal people.

Exhibitionism is originally a part of foreplay in primate and human sexual activity, a ritualistic activity preceding intercourse to achieve reproductive goals. Mutual exposure of genitals to attract each other is considered healthy exhibitionism, consensual, and without any problems. The world still worships fertility gods. In some parts of East India, 100 years ago, priests would walk naked through the streets ringing bells to attract women who would embrace their genitals as a sign of respect and to pray for fertility. In some West African societies, women expose their genitals to men they admire to attract their attention, even openly spreading their legs as a clear invitation. If a woman unconsciously adopts this posture in her sleep, it can be a reliable opportunity for a passing man. Around 1948, along the banks of the Suez Canal, some Egyptians would beat drums naked with their erect penises, attracting attention. Modern nudist camps and beaches continue to be a topic of conversation, especially now that everything relies on revealing and transparent models to attract attention. Various types of models have emerged: nude models, breast models, leg models, hand models, foot models, and buttock models—a wide variety. And every industry uses models; in recent years, car models and lingerie show models have been the most attention-grabbing. There's nothing businesses won't do.

However, exhibitionism, a sexual preference disorder, is unhealthy exhibitionism, a pathological expression of sexual psychology. Those with exhibitionism differ greatly from most people; they expose themselves in public, feeling no passion without it, and are not interested in normal sexual intercourse, only favoring this bizarre sexual preference. They use courtship behavior, an expression of affection for the opposite sex, as a means of releasing sexual desire. This often happens without the other person's permission, or even without any intention of obtaining it. For example, they like to hide in dark places or on forest paths and suddenly expose their penises to passing girls or young women, attempting to shock or arouse them through this taboo act. They feel sexually satisfied regardless of whether the other person ignores them, is frightened, or shouts at them. Their characteristic is not that their exhibitionism is particularly bizarre, but rather that they lack normal sexual behavior. They never seek physical relations with the opposite sex, which is the fundamental difference between them and true scoundrels and perverts. They never engage in further indecent acts and always leave hastily afterward. Their purpose is to stimulate the release of adrenaline and hormones to prepare for arousal and orgasm. However, such activity is clearly insufficient to achieve orgasm, and masturbation is needed afterwards to achieve the final release. Some women also expose their breasts, buttocks, or are completely naked. People who never pursue normal sexual relationships and instead use sexual behavior as a means to an end fall under the category of sexual preference disorders, also known as paraphilias.

Like many other sexual behaviors, they often experience anxiety and arousal beforehand. This impulse drives them to engage in exhibitionism regardless of the risks, even if they plan what clothes to wear, where to appear, and which partners to target. Successful experiences reinforce their motivation and actions. Some might wear a mask and wander around with their erect penis. Some prefer a reciprocal stimulation, believing, "You've seen mine, so I should see yours." Others don't seek shock but instead send nude photos, especially pictures of their genitals, to women via email for a specific effect. Those involved in partner swapping (swapping couples) often exchange photos beforehand to "choose a partner," and in practice, they frequently view or display their images publicly. Similar displays can occur at nudist camps and other similar events. Some patients even eagerly display their genitals as soon as they enter a doctor's office.

Exhibitionism encourages women to expose themselves.
Some men, who themselves do not exhibit their genitals, find an alternative way to create a shocking effect: encouraging their female partners to dress provocatively, without underwear (some TV presenters have even exposed their nipples for this reason), even with significant exposure risks. The more exposed and attention their partners receive, the more excited they become. Like other sexual preferences disorders, exhibitionism is more prevalent in men, and exposure inevitably leads to punishment. Conversely, women who expose themselves do not necessarily receive the same "treatment," often showing understanding and tolerance. Men are more tolerant and accepting of other women's nudity, while women are often more easily frightened. This difference is not primarily determined by physiological and psychological factors, but rather by socio-cultural factors. For example, it's not just men who enjoy striptease performances; many Western women also happily watch male striptease performances, mainly because such occasions make them feel safe, and they are all female audience members—a mutually beneficial arrangement. Exhibitionism is not only related to sex, but is increasingly expanding into social activities, such as environmental protection protests, streaking by sports fans, some anti-social actions, university students streaking, swimming naked, demanding unpaid wages naked, and seeking medical treatment naked for their children.

Exhibitionism is not a mental illness or a crime; the exhibitors' emotions, reason, intelligence, and other aspects are normal, only their sexual psychology is abnormal. They often cannot control their behavior in specific situations, and feel unbearable pain if they do not.

Fricative fetishism
is a condition characterized by repeatedly and secretly rubbing the penis against the body of the opposite sex in crowded places, or pretending to accidentally touch the body of the opposite sex, in order to achieve sexual arousal and satisfaction. Also known as fricative fetishism, it is another manifestation of sexual preference disorder.

This condition is generally seen only in men, and the person being rubbed is usually a stranger, a woman; it generally does not involve acquaintances. Common occurrences include taking advantage of crowded places like buses, theaters, and shops to rub against each other. Some men rub or bump their erect penis against a woman's buttocks, legs, or perineum, mostly through her pants, but some even pull out their penis and touch her directly. Some even ejaculate on the spot, sometimes soiling her clothes. Others take advantage of crowds to casually touch or caress a woman's breasts, buttocks, perineum, or thighs with their hands, arms, or elbows.

Fricatives with this disorder show no other abnormalities in their daily lives, work, or interpersonal relationships. Many are married, but generally have little interest in marital sex, finding less pleasure in their sex lives than through rubbing. Fricative disorder is a psychogenic disorder. Opinions differ regarding its pathopsychological mechanisms. Psychodynamicists believe it is related to stagnation or regression in psychosexual development, with rubbing as a way to overcome subconscious "castration anxiety." Behavioralists believe it is a conditioned reflex; the patient may have accidentally rubbed against a woman's body in crowded situations and experienced sexual arousal, then intentionally repeats the act to relive that pleasure, eventually developing a bad habit of rubbing.

Fricative fetishes typically involve men who, in crowded situations or when the other person is unprepared, rub or touch a part of their body (the penis) against a woman's body to achieve sexual arousal. They repeatedly approach strangers (of the opposite sex) and rub their genitals in close contact. There is no desire for sexual intercourse with the object of the rubbing, nor is there a wish to expose their genitals.

Women can also
experience this fetish; some women achieve orgasm simply by clenching their thighs. Some women find it distressing, while others find it enjoyable.

Frictional behavior, due to its harassment of others, constitutes a public order hazard, and patients are often punished accordingly. However, punishment alone cannot eliminate the frictional behavior. Treatment is necessary. As long as the patient has a genuine motivation to seek treatment and adheres to medical advice, behavioral therapy or psychodynamic therapy can be very effective.

Fetishism
refers to the repeated collection of items used by the opposite sex under the drive of strong sexual desire and arousal. The objects of the fetish are all things that come into direct contact with the opposite sex's body, such as bras and underwear. Touching and smelling these items accompanied by masturbation, or having the object held by oneself or the sexual partner during intercourse, can bring sexual satisfaction (i.e., the fetishized object becomes an important source of sexual stimulation or a basic condition for obtaining sexual satisfaction). A fondness for sex toys that stimulate the genitals is not considered fetishism.

Fetishism usually begins in adolescence and is more common in males. Because this behavior can lead patients to resort to illegal means (such as theft, robbery, etc.) to obtain items of the opposite sex (such as underwear, stockings, handkerchiefs, etc.). The objects of fetishism can be defined narrowly or broadly.

In a narrow sense, fetishism primarily refers to arousing sexual excitement and achieving sexual satisfaction through contact with clothing and accessories worn and used

by the opposite sex. In a broader sense, fetishism involves not only inanimate objects worn by the opposite sex but also parts of the opposite sex's body. Fetishists, who derive sexual satisfaction from touching specific body parts, are more prevalent in men. They are not interested in the opposite sex or their sexual organs, but rather focus their interest on women's underwear, bras, headscarves, clothing, or parts of the opposite sex's hair, hands, feet, or buttocks to replace normal sexual activity and achieve sexual arousal and satisfaction. They often arouse sexual excitement through touching, playing with, sucking, or biting these objects, often accompanied by masturbation. Fetishism often affects the quality of normal sexual intercourse, even leading to a lack of interest in normal sex, and can cause negative social perceptions, thus requiring treatment. Fetishism is a manifestation of immature sexual psychology and is a correctable sexual psychological disorder. The younger the age, the easier it is to correct.

Voyeurism
is a recurrent or persistent act of watching others engage in sexual activity or intimate behavior, such as undressing, as a preferred way to achieve sexual arousal. Its prevalence is unclear, but it generally affects men, most commonly between the ages of 20 and 40. It is a sexual preference disorder that often triggers sexual arousal and masturbation in the voyeur. Voyeurism mostly occurs in sexually mature men and requires specific locations (toilets) and methods (using mirrors). In adolescents, voyeurism is primarily driven by sexual curiosity, but a timid personality or an accidental glimpse of female genitalia leading to sexual arousal is often a significant contributing factor. Patients often have underdeveloped personalities, are introverted, withdrawn, lack the ability to interact with the opposite sex, or are experiencing marital failure. Voyeurs go to

great lengths to secretly watch women use toilets, bathe, and engage in sexual activity, risking entering women's restrooms, bathhouses, or other people's bedrooms for this purpose. They peep on women undressing or becoming naked in the bathroom, experiencing sexual pleasure from the act, but without any sexual intercourse being imposed upon them. Some achieve sexual satisfaction by masturbating alone on the spot or through recollection, imagination, and masturbation afterward.

Clinical studies show that most voyeurs had unintentionally seen or heard their parents having sex in early childhood. Psychodynamicists therefore believe that this experience arouses curiosity, astonishment, shock, and tension in the child's mind, and through the operation of psychological mechanisms, "castration anxiety" persists. Voyeurism in adulthood is a manifestation of the subconscious effort to combat castration anxiety. Behavioralists believe that voyeurism is a conditioned reflex gradually established through reinforcement of the aforementioned early experiences.

Patients with this disorder are often punished or disciplined because their voyeurism affects social order, but punishment alone cannot eliminate this behavior. Common treatment methods include psychodynamic therapy or behavioral therapy. When psychotherapy is ineffective, anti-androgen drugs may be tried to reduce or eliminate voyeurism by comprehensively suppressing sexual desire.

Transvestism
, also known as cross-dressing, is a specific form of fetishism, referred to as "fetishistic transvestism" in ICD-10. It manifests as a particular fondness for clothing of the opposite sex, a recurring and intense desire to wear such attire, which is then acted upon, leading to sexual arousal and satisfaction. Transvestism can range from occasionally wearing one or two items to complete costume and makeup. It typically begins in late childhood and is at least initially associated with sexual arousal. Patients have no issues with gender identity; they are affirmative about their biological sex, do not desire to be of the opposite sex, and their sexual orientation is normal, directed towards members of the opposite sex. The abnormality lies solely in the manner or method of sexual behavior.

Studies have found no abnormalities in the patient's sex chromosomes or sex hormones. Temporal lobe EEG abnormalities have been reported in rare cases. The most plausible explanation is the one found in fetishism: hindered normal sexual development coupled with conditioned learning.

Transvestites typically begin actively wearing clothing of the opposite sex during puberty. The main clinical manifestations are as follows: Initially, the patient wears underwear of the opposite sex, and wears it secretly, such as men wearing bras and pantyhose, while their outerwear remains clothing appropriate for their own gender. Later, the amount of clothing worn gradually increases until the entire body, inside and out, is covered in clothing of the opposite sex. Finally, the patient wears clothing of the opposite sex and accessories in public places. Wearing clothing of the opposite sex causes significant sexual arousal. When this behavior is suppressed, it can cause significant anxiety.

Distinguishing transvestism from homosexuality:
While homosexuals sometimes wear clothing of the opposite sex, this is because their behavior has characteristics of the opposite sex and they like to imitate the lifestyle of the opposite sex. Transvestites wear clothing of the opposite sex to seek sexual stimulation, achieve sexual arousal and satisfaction.

Distinguishing transvestism from gender dysphoria: Gender
dysphoria also likes to wear clothing of the opposite sex, but their purpose is simply to resemble the opposite sex, and they firmly believe that this adornment represents a real person of the opposite sex and does not cause them any sexual stimulation. Transvestites, after wearing clothing of the opposite sex, do not doubt or deny their inherent gender, and do not have gender identity disorder. Their purpose in dressing up is to arouse sexual excitement and achieve sexual satisfaction.

Masochism
, on the other hand, refers to individuals who derive sexual excitement or pleasure from being whipped, bound, humiliated, or subjected to other forms of abuse. Masochism falls under the category of sexual perversion; it involves achieving psychological satisfaction through self-inflicted or external forms of whipping, manipulation, etc. Correcting masochistic sexual behavior requires comprehensive treatment

. Masochism refers to the act of voluntarily placing oneself in a state of humiliation or other forms of pain to obtain sexual pleasure (possibly through sexual intercourse or non-sexual intercourse). It has become a controversial and even challenging psychological topic in modern society. Masochists only derive maximum pleasure from being abused. This peculiar need does not harm society or others; rather, it is about obtaining a distorted form of loving excitement through accepting harm. Broadly speaking, both men and women have masochistic needs. Masochism can be seen as a form of bodily tension. Pleasure is impossible during orgasm without tension. Men who chain themselves or put ropes around their necks to achieve masturbation pleasure do so because they doubt their own sexual capacity and, in a state of self-loathing and weakness, are forced to resort to external forces to achieve arousal.

*Understanding Human Sexuality* by Janet Shibley Hyde and John D. Delamater, recommended by experts from the American Psychological Association, overturns Freud's prejudice that women are more prone to masochism than men. According to surveys, masochism is more prevalent among men than women. This also puts male chauvinists in an awkward position.

Masochism is driven by a desire to escape self-awareness…and may be more likely to cause anxiety due to a high level of self-awareness (including excessive focus on pressure, responsibility, and the need to maintain a good image in front of others). Masochistic behavior allows people to escape from the responsibilities of being an autonomous, individual…this theory also explains why masochism is associated with gender (Baumeister, 1988b). According to this theory, because men face heavy pressure regarding autonomy, independence, and personal achievement, male roles are particularly burdensome, and masochistic behavior helps them escape from these role responsibilities. This explains why masochism is more prevalent in men than in women.

There is also an innate genetic perspective; since the Y chromosome promotes violence, violence must differentiate into both aggression and masochism, so men have significantly higher sadistic and masochistic tendencies than women.

Theodor Reik also believed that feelings of anguish and fear are the cause of sadomasochism.

Therefore, masochistic tendencies are related to the process of self-formation: frustration and unhappiness are necessary factors in the process of distinguishing oneself from others in infancy and in the subsequent process of separation from others and personal independence. Separation from the mother causes children to feel lost, angry, and guilty. Therefore, a certain degree of masochistic tendency is a common phenomenon, linked to the existence of the superego, the definition of the ego, and the individuation process. Pain is an inevitable phenomenon in the process of ego formation; therefore, just as people say "I feel, therefore I am" or "I think, therefore I am," we can say "I am in pain, therefore I am." The frustration and discomfort of the ego being separated from the environment is an inevitable feeling when we enter the world. It damages the child's narcissistic psychology, making them feel an unbearable sense of passivity and powerlessness when facing external danger. This is the prototype of self-shame. The infant tries to restore self-esteem by distorting the nature of his experience. He is unwilling to accept the fact that he is weak and powerless, and instead tries to regain control by subjectively pretending that the torment he suffers is voluntary. He might say, "I am frustrated because I want to; I forced my mother to be so cruel." Managing pain is a process of growth; it cultivates the ability to find satisfaction in pain. One step in an infant's adaptation to the external world is adapting to pain. The masochistic tendency in narcissism is a normal developmental process, a process of establishing emotional relationships with an object. The masochistic tendency in narcissism, however, is not about fantasizing about reuniting with a loving mother, but rather about fantasizing about controlling a cruel mother. In narcissistic masochism, the superego is distorted; it is an excessively harsh superego.

The separation process from the mother is more painful for men than for women, involving more anxiety, which some use to explain the difference in masochistic tendencies between men and women. Empirical studies show that men with masochistic tendencies often find a partner to whip, bind, and sexually dominate them, while this behavior is less common in women. This phenomenon is related to gender identity. First, infancy, love and hate are primarily directed towards the mother, and boys need to more strictly separate themselves from their maternal identity than girls; second, because girls, like their mothers, seek male partners as adults, their goals are clearer and less conflicted, while boys' identification with their mothers in infancy is more prone to conflict with their later desires for female partners. Men are more prone to sadomasochistic tendencies because the pressure to reject their mother's gender identity during childhood is far greater than that of women. They feel anger at the loss of this childhood joy and fear they will never be able to complete this separation, thus harboring a vengeful impulse towards the mother who placed them in this difficult situation.

Those holding this view believe that sadomasochism is an obsession with childhood memories. Sadists hope to transcend control by reenacting the feelings of weakness and helplessness they experienced in childhood, thus gaining symbolic power over the scenes in their memories. By reenacting terrifying past memories, sadists achieve a psychological victory over the past, a victory that leads to pleasure.

Others believe that the anxiety in sadomasochistic tendencies is related to toilet training in childhood. The first behavior a child encounters that requires control is excretion. In toilet training, he must learn to temporarily endure discomfort. The child's anxiety focuses on losing affection; if he doesn't learn to control excretion, he will be punished and humiliated. This anxiety transfers to masturbation and sexual behavior in adulthood. The object of fear also shifts from the parents to the superego. Many upper-class children were subjected to restraint and torment by nannies during toilet training, hence the fact that whippers in sex-whipping brothels often dressed as nurses, presumably as substitutes for nannies. Psychoanalysis suggests that those who fantasize about being whipped may have experienced sadistic treatment during their oral and anal sexual stages. Forced to suppress their aggression and desire for revenge, these individuals became burdened with guilt, and the need for punishment for wrongdoing is the source of their anxiety. During toilet training, children face a dilemma: either endure the discomfort and cannot relax control over their excretory organs, or they cannot resist soiling their clothes and being punished. Rick argues that typical toilet training begins too early and is too harsh, leaving children constantly anxious about making mistakes and in danger of doing so, without any opportunity for relaxation. Studies show that German children's feeding and toilet training are as rigorous as those in Britain, and Britain and Germany are the only two countries in Europe with a tradition of sexual whipping. In France, Spain, and Italy, traditionally breastfeeding and toileting habits are much more relaxed and casual, and these countries have not shown the same interest in whipping as Britain and Germany.

Zoology
is a sexual perversion in which one obtains sexual gratification solely from animals. Sexual intercourse between humans and animals is called bestiality. However, bestiality or sexual intercourse with animals is not unique to zoologists; such activities can be found in certain religious traditions or rituals throughout history. It also occurs among people who cannot achieve normal sexual relations, and most of these individuals are not sexually deviant. Bestiality is not the only sexual behavior associated with zoology; male zoologists often obtain sexual gratification through non-coital sexual acts with a clear sadistic element; female zoologists often obtain sexual gratification through rubbing against animals or having them lick their genitals. The animal fetishism of some elderly people in the West is closely related to zoology; these individuals have an abnormal fondness for certain animals.

The phenomenon of animal cruelty has been recorded in almost every dynasty, with records becoming more frequent from the Han Dynasty onwards. Qing dynasty scholar Chu Renhuo, in his *Jianhu Xuji* (Volume 1), quotes from *Wenhai Pisha* as saying: "Panhu's wife had sex with a dog. The King of Guangchuan of the Han dynasty had a palace maid have sex with a ram. Emperor Ling of the Han dynasty played with dogs in the western garden to mate with people. A woman from Zhenning had sex with a sheep. A miller's wife from Pei County had sex with a donkey. Du Xiu's wife, Xue, had sex with a dog. During the reign of Emperor Wen of the Song dynasty, Meng Huidu's maid from Wuxing had sex with a dog. A woman from Lizhou had sex with a tiger. A woman from the Yuan family of Yihuang had sex with a snake. A widow from Linhai had sex with a fish. The daughter of Shi Kui of Zhang'an had sex with a goose. The ancestors of the Turks had sex with wolves. A woman from the Weiluo Kingdom was married to Ying." "Having sex with a phoenix. A woman from Shaanxi who sells goods having sex with a horse. A woman surnamed Wang from the Song Dynasty who has sex with a monkey."

Regardless of the circumstances, it is always a shameful thing. A passage from Ji Yun's *Notes from the Thatched Cottage of Close Observation* (Volume 12) or *Huai Xi Magazine* (Volume 2) reveals the psychological state of the person involved and some social evaluations: "Urumqi is full of brothels. In small buildings and deep alleys, the sounds can be heard from time to time, from the first sound of the city drum until the temple bell is about to ring, the lights are always flickering; the licentious do whatever they want, and officials..." It was neither forbidden nor could it be forbidden. There was a cloth merchant from Ningxia named He, young and handsome, with a fortune of a thousand taels of silver, and not particularly stingy, but he disliked frequenting the northern brothels; he only kept more than ten female pigs, feeding them to the extreme fatness and washing them to the extreme cleanliness, and would close the door every day to mate with them. The pigs would rub against each other, as if affectionate with the male; his servants constantly spied on him, yet He remained unaware. Suddenly, a friend, in a drunken taunt, questioned him, and He, ashamed, threw himself into a well and died. The Assistant Magistrate of Dihua Prefecture, Mu Jintai, said: 'If I hadn't personally investigated this case, even if Sima Guang had told me, I wouldn't have believed it.' I composed this miscellaneous poem about this place. There is a saying: "A shocking event, whether true or not, has always been more lustful than Deng Tu. He Lang willingly died for passion, only then did I believe Liu Lang loved the seductive pig." This is a poem about this matter. Human nature can be so perverse, showing that judging the world by reason alone cannot encompass all its variations; judging the world by emotion alone also cannot encompass all its variations. Ji Yun's last few words illustrate a principle: the world is vast and full of wonders, which cannot be measured by ordinary reason. This applies to illicit sex, and to all sexual perversions.

The book also quotes *Ertan*, saying, "In Lin'an, there was a woman who committed adultery with a dog. In the capital, there was a woman who had sex with a donkey. In Jingchu, there was a woman who had sex with a fox." It concludes, "Thus, we know that the world is vast, and nothing is impossible." In reality, while many strange things happen, the above certainly contain elements of fiction. For example, the "phoenix" is a mythical creature, and "having sex with a phoenix" is impossible. Other accounts, such as "having sex with a snake" or "having sex with a fish," are also somewhat "inconceivable." The story of Du Xiu's wife having sex with a dog is based on Li Yin's *Xiao Xiang Lu* from the Tang Dynasty. However, in *Xiao Xiang Lu*, Du Xiu is referred to as Du Xiuji: "Du Xiuji was a man from Yue, who was skilled in medicine. His wife was the daughter of Xue, a wealthy man from Zhao Prefecture. She was promiscuous. Xiuji kept a white dog, which he loved dearly and always fed it delicacies. After eating, when Xiuji went out, the dog would suddenly enter the room, intending to bite Xiuji's wife, Xue, and seemed to have illicit intentions. Xue was puzzled and asked, 'Do you want to have sex with me? If so, don't bite me.' The dog immediately wagged its tail and got up from the bed. Xue was frightened and had sex with it. The dog was no different from a human. After that, every time Xiuji went out, it would commit adultery without restraint..." Later, Xue was eventually sent back to her mother's house, but the dog continued to visit. The rest of the story is a myth.

Zoophilia is difficult to correct, therefore prevention should be emphasized in its treatment. This includes preventing children from being alone with animals in close proximity, providing age-appropriate sex education, and avoiding presenting children with myths or superstitious stories about foxes, dogs, cats, etc., mating as if they were real. Providing children with scientific explanations or asking them to avoid witnessing animals mating can help prevent the development of zoophilia. For children who show a special fondness for animals accompanied by sexual feelings from a young age, serious corrective measures should be taken, such as preventing them from being alone with the animals in a room, not allowing them to sleep or play with animals in the same bed, and adjusting the child's environment if necessary. Generally, even if a child shows some zoophilic tendency, it is not difficult to correct if measures are taken before puberty.

Sexual addiction
, also known as orgasmic addiction or sex addiction disorder, refers to an individual's strong, forced, continuous, or periodic sexual urges. If these urges are not satisfied, it causes feelings of anxiety and distress. In terms of age, most are men aged 30-40, which is also the most sexually active period in a person's life. Like drug addicts, gamblers, and alcoholics, once their sex addiction kicks in, they will abandon all work to find an outlet. If someone is addicted to online pornography, the reason is very likely that they have a sex addiction.

As far as we know, there are at least two factors, internal and external. Internally, hormonal imbalances are largely to blame. For example, a college sophomore kept changing live-in partners; later, blood tests revealed that his androgen levels were 10% higher than normal, medically termed hypersexuality, a type of sexual dysfunction, mostly caused by endocrine disorders such as adrenal tumors or pituitary tumors.

Externally, the culprit lies in psychological developmental deviations, related to the influence of family and social environment. For example, the temptation of pornography; bad examples from elders; excessive mental stress without better stress relief methods, leading to sexual dependence. Some people use sex to prove their attractiveness; the more sexual partners they have, the more confident they feel, and love is merely an adornment.

Sex addiction is best described as a progressive, compulsive disorder of thought and behavior. Like all addictions, the more the addict and family members increase, the more negative the disease progresses. Over time, addicts often have intensified addictive behaviors to achieve the same result.

For some sex addicts, the behavior does not progress beyond compulsive masturbation or the widespread use of pornography or mobile or computer pornography services. For others, addiction may involve illegal activities such as exhibitionism, voyeurism, phone pornography, child molestation, or rape.

Sex addicts do not necessarily become sex offenders. Furthermore, not all sex offenders are sex addicts. Approximately 55% of convicted sex offenders can be considered sex addicts.

About 71% of child sexual abusers are sex addicts. For many, their problems are so severe that imprisonment is the only way to ensure their safety in society.

Society has accepted that the behavior of sex offenders is not for sexual gratification, but rather for the need for power, dominance, control, or revenge, or for the perverse expression of anger and insecurity. However, recent changes in the brain related to consciousness and sexual behavior, and the brain's reward system, have led us to understand that there are also powerful sexual drives that incentivize sexual offenses.

The National Council defines sex addiction and compulsive sex addiction as "engaging in a persistent and escalating pattern of behavior despite increasing negative consequences affecting oneself and others." In other words, a sex addict will continue to engage in certain sexual behaviors despite facing potential health risks, financial problems, broken relationships, and even arrest.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Volume IV, describes sex addiction under the category of "Other Unspecified Sexual Disorders," specifically "a pattern of repetitive sexual relationships, where an individual experiences a series of sexual encounters with a partner who is being used." According to the manual, sex addiction also involves "compulsive searching for multiple partners, compulsive fixation on an unattainable partner, compulsive masturbation, compulsive romantic relationships, and compulsive sexual behaviors."

Increased sexual provocation in our society has led individuals to engage in various unusual or illegal sexual behaviors, such as mobile phone pornography escort services, increased use of and computer pornography. These individuals and their partners seek help.

Other addictions characterized by the same compulsive behaviors are also typical of "sex addiction." However, these other addictions, such as drug addiction, alcoholism, and gambling dependence, involve substances or activities that are not necessarily related to our survival. For example, we can live normal, happy lives without gambling, taking illegal drugs, or drinking alcohol. Even the most genetically healthy individuals, without exposure or provocation, are susceptible to these addictive activities.

Sexual activity is different. Enjoying food and sex are essential for human survival. While some people are celibate, others choose celibacy for cultural or religious reasons. Healthy people have a strong sex drive. In fact, a lack of interest or a low sex drive may indicate both physiological and psychological problems. The dangers of

sex addiction should not be underestimated; it harms both the individual and others, as exemplified by Mr. Ouyang Hong's experience. Even the mildest level of sex addiction can affect one's normal life, such as masturbation leading to nocturnal emissions; online sex reducing the frequency of sexual activity with a real-life partner, interfering with marital relationships; or losing a job and income due to wasted time.
A middle-aged German man, driven to despair by his sex addiction and unable to break free, tragically choked himself with a kitchen knife, a painful lesson indeed.

Sex addiction is often accompanied by various symptoms, such as anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or phobias and oppression. Therefore, those with sex addiction may also be alcoholics, gamblers, workaholics, or fitness fanatics.

Unlike other vices, some cases of sex addiction only require 15 minutes to satisfy, such as surfing pornographic websites, before nonchalantly returning to their work. Sex addicts generally feel good about themselves and don't acknowledge anything wrong. Once someone develops a sex addiction, it's almost impossible to break free. Constantly chasing sex, indulging in fantasies, or becoming physically and mentally exhausted from excessive activity, while work efficiency declines significantly, and career is gradually neglected.

If it's a harmless hobby, it's best to keep it hidden. However, if you are troubled by this for a long time, or even if it affects your normal life and leads you to do illegal or disorderly things, then I hope you will seek medical treatment as soon as possible so that you can get rid of these unnecessary troubles and live an ordinary and happy life.
