How to become a master of Traditional Chinese Medicine massage

    page views:1  Publication date:2018-10-22
In every profession, there are outstanding individuals. If you love what you do, you'll excel at it. The spirit of craftsmanship—never giving up, striving for excellence—ultimately leads to success and fulfillment. This is especially true of massage techniques. It's not only a craft but also a time-honored method of healing passed down through generations. Especially in traditional Chinese massage, there are numerous masters and experts. Their advanced techniques allow for precognitive diagnosis, bone palpation, and swift healing. One person, one bed, working diligently and conscientiously, some hidden in plain sight, others in seclusion, they quietly contribute to the people with their magical hands. They help people solve major problems with minimal expense; they are true healers, the soul of massage, the pillars of traditional Chinese medicine, and masters among masters.
So how can we, the younger generation, become useful TCM massage practitioners like them? Wang Chunliang, a massage instructor, guides us to diligently study and practice techniques, thoroughly understand the *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic), master human anatomy, learn about meridians and acupoints, and personally experience and feel the techniques. Most importantly, true knowledge comes from hands-on practice. Learning is 30%, practice is 70%. Patients are your true and ultimate teachers. One day without practice, your hands and feet become rusty. Two days without practice, half your skill is lost. Three days without practice, you become an outsider. Ten days without practice, you can only watch from the sidelines. Once you master it, you will never forget it.
Wang Chunliang's massage techniques are applied clinically: pushing, grasping, rolling, rubbing, kneading; pressing, pinching, pulling, straightening, and adjusting. There are no fixed acupoints, no fixed methods; intention, qi, and force are all essential. Straighten the posture, relax the shoulders, rotate the wrists. Follow the tendons, pinching or kneading, rolling or straightening, the tendons are in the groove, the bones are aligned. The hands never leave the meridians; first, unblock the meridians, then press the acupoints to drain excess energy, and finally balance and seal the acupoints. Ten parts illness, seven parts effort; seven parts illness, exert no effort, adjust accordingly, producing soreness, distension, and numbness, leaving behind a feeling of Qi. My heart is my heart, my intention is my intention; my hand on the patient's body, my thoughts in harmony, my movements like flowing water, like the movement of Qi, naturally flowing with ease.
When the exterior and interior are one, and the upper and lower body are unified, no illness can arise. Skin covers flesh, flesh follows tendons, tendons encircle bones, bones generate blood and create marrow, producing essence, Qi, and spirit, nourishing the five internal organs and the hundred bones. If the illness is in the skin and hair, massage the skin area in three days. If the illness is in the muscles and tendons, clear the meridians in five days. If the illness is in the bone marrow, in the body of the intestinal tract, treat the tendons and bones together in one hundred days, massage the meridians and tendons, replenish Qi and blood, cleanse the marrow and fill the sea, and the illness can be resolved. The
tendons of the human body are like dragons, moving up and down to protect the whole body; they have a soul, can save lives, cure all diseases, and are indispensable for survival. An inch longer tendon adds ten years to life; an inch thinner back means the sun is at its zenith. Warm the tendons when they are cold, drain the tendons when they are hot, knead the tendons when they are hard, stretch the tendons when they are short, and supplement the tendons when they are thin. If the tendons are gone, the Mingmen point (a point on the back of the head) is already sunken and beyond saving! Qi stagnates, stagnation leads to blockage, blockage forms knots, tendons go out of their grooves, knots form lumps, tendons twitch, lumps become tumors, forming a dead sea, tumors calcify, tendon cancer has formed, a deadlock that is difficult to untie, a headache for doctors.
Bones are the pillars of tendons, only when bones are straight can tendons be smooth. Bones are Yang, tendons are Yin. If tendons are not straightened, it is a waste of time; if bones are straightened, tendons are only happy for nothing. Tendons are relaxed and bones are straight, bones are straight and tendons are supple. Bone diseases and misalignments must be corrected. First relax the tendons, then straighten the bones. The technique should be short, flat, fast, light, skillful, steady, and accurate, all done in one smooth motion, without dragging. The spine is like a spring, the joints are like screws. An expert can twist them a couple of times, and you won't feel pain for three years.
Wang Chunliang's manual therapy is a process of using righteous energy to suppress pathogenic factors. It's about treating people with people, using your positive energy field to eliminate their negative one. To heal others and become an excellent TCM massage master, one must have a healthy body, full of righteous energy and abundant vitality, so that one can perform the techniques with ease and achieve effective results. You can practice some health-preserving exercises, or you can improve your health at a massage school before starting your own massage practice.
The spirit guides the flow of Qi, Qi propels the flow of blood, and blood carries nutrients, nourishing the five internal organs, six bowels, and four limbs. In other words, where Qi and blood circulate, functions can operate normally. Qi travels through the meridians, so the core is emotional management and the meridian system. Unobstructed meridians prevent illness, stable emotions lead to longevity. Through manual therapy techniques, we balance Yin and Yang, regulate emotions, unblock meridians, promote internal and external circulation, bringing the body to its optimal state, supporting righteous energy, and preventing pathogenic factors from invading, thus achieving true preventative and health-preserving effects. Difficulty falling asleep indicates decreased liver function! Light sleep indicates decreased kidney function! Drooling in your sleep indicates decreased spleen function! Gray hair at the temples indicates decreased liver function! Gray hair on the front of the head indicates decreased spleen function! Gray hair on the back of the head indicates decreased kidney function! A pale complexion indicates poor lung function! A red complexion indicates poor heart function! A bluish complexion indicates poor liver function! A dark complexion indicates poor kidney function! A yellow complexion indicates poor spleen function. A senior therapist, during a massage, told Xiao Li that his liver was not functioning well and needed attention. Xiao Li was frightened and went to the hospital for a checkup, but nothing was found. The therapist returned home and accused Xiao Li of being a fraud. A year later, Xiao Li developed liver cancer! The best doctors treat illness before it manifests. These problems cannot be detected in hospitals. By the time a diagnosis is made, it's often too late. Therefore, prevention and early health maintenance are better than treatment.
