Chapter 113 Life and Death on the Brink

The group gathered in Jiang Yan's room were stunned. What was going on? It seemed they had been framed as hostage-takers?

Fortunately, the captain walked in, his face full of anger.

"Our men were guarding the hotel exit, telling them our identities and forbidding them from interfering. We didn't expect that police chief to pull this stunt, directly framing us as hostage-takers!" the captain explained to Zhang Bing.

Everyone was annoyed. Zhang Bing smiled bitterly, but then a chill ran down his spine. The enemy knew they were from the city's armed police force, so they must know the higher-ups were involved. Even if they wanted to arrest and silence them, they would have done it discreetly. Why would they announce it so publicly?

"Will they just use helicopters and snipers to kill us one by one, like in the movies?" Everyone was worried, except for Jiang Yan, who found the scene incredibly amusing, carefree and fantasizing about scenes from TV shows. She felt this was too exciting; this trip to Shanxi was definitely worth it.

"They want to silence us, just kill us so there's no way to prove anything!" Although Zhang Bing was a little angry at Jiang Yan's teasing, this reminder made him realize the enemy's plan.

"Captain, quickly have all your team members retreat to this floor, abandon everything else, and have everyone else in the hotel leave to avoid harming innocent bystanders. They're about to launch a full-scale attack!" Zhang Bing hurriedly suggested. Zhang Bing

's prediction was correct, because the enemy not only knew that their plans had been exposed and that their superiors knew about it, but also fully understood their predicament.

Around 6 o'clock, Wang Ming, the county party secretary who already knew things were going badly, received a text message: "All members of the municipal party committee, led by Secretary Liu, have rushed to your location. Be careful!"

The text message was sent by the secretary of the municipal party secretary. Wang Ming had spent 100,000 US dollars to bribe this secretary, but it was worth it. The secretary had provided him with a lot of information, which allowed him to have absolute power and do whatever he wanted in Shanyang County. Otherwise, he really wouldn't have dared to disregard organizational procedures and agree to his nephew's request to immediately try Hong Tie.

Now that all the members of the municipal party committee had arrived, he definitely needed to take some follow-up measures to ensure no trace was left. He had just ordered someone to deal with the colleague who had framed Hong Tie and to try and eliminate the nanny when Fa Ge called, informing him of Sima Wen and the madman's disappearance. He was shocked, almost wanting to kill Fa Ge—because Sima Wen knew about his relationship with Fa Ge!

After discussing it at length with Fa Ge, for his own future and to save himself, he ordered Hua Ming to use the heavy weapons secretly purchased by the gang to storm the hotel and silence all those in the know—even if someone blamed him afterward, he could deny everything: at the time, a murderer had taken hostages and was being pursued to the hotel by the police, unaware that the armed police were present! In this

life-or-death situation, everyone acted with high efficiency. In less than 10 minutes, Fa Ge had secretly transported his prized heavy weapons to the scene. He knew he and Wang Ming were in the same boat; if Wang Ming fell, he would be a lost cause too. At this moment, he absolutely could not be selfish. Brother Fa was a military enthusiast; those heavy weapons were purely for personal interest, which he had boasted about to Wang Ming. He never expected they would actually come in handy.

Fortunately, Zhang Bing's decision delayed the enemy's actions. The enemy's rocket launchers were already set up. At this time, hotel guests and staff began to emerge. Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Hua Ming and Wang Ming, who had already arrived at the scene, dared not open fire. After all, such a commotion had attracted the attention of county and government leaders, and many residents lived in the surrounding buildings, even though he had already ordered a 1-kilometer cordon.

Having received specific information from the hotel manager that Zhang Bing and his group had all gone to the top floor (5th floor), Hua Ming waved his hand, and his men immediately rushed into the hotel, occupying all the key passages. Feedback confirmed that the person they were looking to arrest was on the 5th floor!

At this moment, Wang Ming received news that a large number of armed police and public security officers had arrived in the cordoned-off area and were negotiating with his men to get through! Moreover, the other side was heavily armed, and their identification and clothing were clearly visible, confirming that they were the municipal armed police brigade and the county and municipal public security bureaus!

"Listen upstairs, you have one more minute to consider. If you don't surrender, we'll launch a full-scale assault!" Hua Ming glanced at his brother-in-law, seeing no expression on his face, knowing he had tacitly agreed.

"One minute later, rocket launchers will be fired at the windows on the fifth floor, and demolition charges will be used to storm up from the fourth floor! At all costs, we cannot let these criminals escape justice!" Hua Ming gritted his teeth and issued the orders to his men. He knew that once the gunfire started, things would escalate, but survival was paramount now. He couldn't worry about anything else; as long as they silenced everyone upstairs, there would be no way to prove anything, and at most, his men would be demoted or given demerits.

"Director Hua, this isn't a good idea. The public and society will react strongly if gunfire erupts. A mere murderer shouldn't be in such a state!" Hua Ming's words shocked everyone who was unaware of the situation. Using weapons, especially heavy weapons, within the city limits required approval from the provincial government or even the central government. This was a violation of regulations; even if things were handled smoothly in the end, they wouldn't escape punishment, and their positions would likely be in jeopardy. Several deputy directors quickly came to persuade him, and other county leaders also suggested that he wait and consult with his superiors, but they were ignored.

"Give me a test fire of a rocket launcher, give them a warning!" Seeing the suspicious and surprised looks on his subordinates' and the police's faces, Hua Ming hardened his heart. He was determined to drag them all down with him. Once he opened fire, they would be on his side, and there would be no room for doubt or distrust; he could only continue the assault!

The loud explosion startled everyone. County Head Liang Gui, who had been too intimidated by Wang Ming's power to speak, could no longer contain himself. "Hua Ming, stop! Stop it all!"

With someone taking the lead, the officials who had been wavering in the middle became bolder and joined the county head in condemning Hua Ming. They had no choice; many officials who realized what was happening felt wrong. Where did Hua Ming get these heavy weapons? Why was he so determined to kill his opponent? Some officials even secretly called acquaintances in higher-level government to report the situation. Unable to get a clear answer, these officials also sided with the county head. After all, continuing to fire was clearly illegal and far exceeded the authority of a county-level government. For the sake of their own positions, they couldn't afford to clash with the powerful county party secretary and his group.

The officials were clearly divided into two factions, with the county magistrate's side holding a majority, even in the voting for seats on the county standing committee. This further solidified Liang Gui's resolve to oppose them. Consequently, the police below were unsure whose side to follow, and their planned assault was halted.

The power of a rocket launcher is unimaginable to those who haven't witnessed modern weaponry. Hearing the deafening explosion and feeling the intense tremors on the building, even though the captain, who had been observing the enemy's movements, had taken maximum precautions and led them away from the blast zone, several elderly people and women fainted on the spot. Three children cried loudly in terror, and even Jiang Yan, who had initially found it amusing, immediately threw herself into Zhang Bing's arms, desperately covering her ears, refusing to leave!

"I have good news for everyone, Brother Fa has been caught!" The armed police, having withstood the test, remained remarkably calm as the captain delivered an exciting message: "Furthermore, all our forces have arrived outside the hotel and will soon be able to encircle them!"

The captain's words were well-prepared. No sooner had he finished speaking than a large number of heavily armed police appeared in front of the hotel, led by Tian Hua, the city's Public Security Bureau Chief. He had just received word from the city party secretary, who ordered him to immediately dismiss Hua Ming and maintain stability at the scene.

Tian Hua led a team of armed police to Hua Ming, his face contorted with barely suppressed anger. This idiot had not only ruined himself but also implicated a large number of people, including himself. "Hua Ming, you're dismissed now! Take him away!"

Faced with overwhelming force, everyone obediently stopped their actions at the hotel. Wang Ming closed his eyes and shook his head helplessly: all his efforts had been in vain! He couldn't escape his fate either; he'd better take advantage of the chaos to prepare!

Wang Ming tried to slip away quietly but was stopped by two armed police officers. They had received orders from their captain to keep the county party secretary and related personnel under close surveillance at the scene!

Finally safe! What a life-or-death journey! Zhang Bing sighed inwardly after receiving the captain's report. Looking at the people around him, everyone was cheering that they had all escaped unscathed; clearly, everyone was still immersed in the terror of what had just happened.

"Alright, we're safe!" Zhang Bing wiped the cold sweat from his face and gently comforted Jiang Yan, who was trembling in his arms. "The situation is basically clear now. I should call Minister Fang."

While Zhang Bing was calling Fang Yuanshan to report the situation, at the General Staff Villa in Xiangshan, Beijing, Jiang Yongnian put down the phone, a satisfied smile on his face, and muttered to himself, "This test has shown that Zhang Bing's abilities are quite good, although he's still a bit impulsive. But he can be trained slowly. My precious daughter has been frightened so much, she should be able to calm down and agree to be protected by the family, right? Hopefully, she won't keep making a fuss about going out!"

Chapter 114 Pighead

Around 10 a.m., Fang Yuanshan hurriedly arrived in Shanyang, a small county town, on his private jet. The reason was simple: the fact that the county police chief had used heavy weapons was enough to alarm the central government.

Of course, while Fang Yuanshan was relieved that Jiang Yan and the others were unharmed, he also had some complaints about Zhang Bing. The situation was so serious, yet Zhang Bing only called him after everything was resolved! If things were to go wrong and Jiang Yan got injured, his life would be in trouble—because he knew the Jiang family in Zhongnanhai was definitely watching closely. With their power, they might know more about the situation than he did. But the Jiang family hadn't made a move; perhaps they were observing Zhang Bing's performance, or maybe they were assessing his abilities? If he had known something so serious had happened, he would have been there personally last night and mobilized more manpower.

However, he couldn't find a target to vent his anger on yet. As soon as it was over, Zhang Bing instructed the captain to keep their identities secret. With the captain's three armed police guards as escorts, they took Hong Tie, who had just been rescued from prison, back to Hong Gang's hometown. They needed a quiet environment to calm down and adjust their mindset—last night had been far too exciting and dangerous!

Fortunately, just as Fang Yuanshan was venting all his anger and resentment on the municipal party secretary and other municipal leaders, Jiang Yan, who was somewhat oblivious to the dangers, was drawn to the unique scenery of rural Shanxi and became lively again. Meanwhile, the two little ones, Feifei and Ai'er, who had been the most frightened, after a comfortable nap in Zhang Bing's arms, were also captivated by their father's stories, temporarily forgetting the loud noise and trembling of the previous night.

Zhang Bing was exhausted, but as a man, his responsibilities were too great, forcing him to persevere. Watching the two little girls nestled obediently in his arms listening to his ramblings, he felt a surge of pride—a father's pride! He kissed the two little girls' soft cheeks, his mind searching for new stories again. However, as the SUV swayed, his body became more and more relaxed, and his eyelids grew heavier and heavier.

"Huh? Mommy, Daddy's asleep! He hasn't finished telling us the story yet!" The two girls, comfortably nestled in their father's arms, noticed Zhang Bing was silent. Fei Fei raised her little head to look, then playfully rubbed her nose against Zhang Bing's nose. Seeing that he didn't move, she quickly asked her mother for help.

"Don't be silly! Fei Fei, my dear, let Daddy sleep. He's too tired, you know?" Li Huan was feeling sorry for Zhang Bing, but she was also blaming herself for not being able to help, so she quickly stopped her daughter's little hand from trying to pry open Zhang Bing's eyelids. "You two lie down and sleep too. If you can't stay still, come to Mommy's." The SUV had two seats. Zhang Bing and the children sat in the back, Li Huan and Jiang Yan sat in the front, and the Hong family sat in another car.

The two little girls quieted down. They were starting to understand things now and knew their father hadn't slept the night before. Ai'er, being very sensible, whispered to Feifei, "Feifei, let's sleep in Daddy's arms too, so we don't wake him. When we get off the bus, Daddy can play with us again!"

Jiang Yan looked at the two well-behaved girls, smiling slightly, her heart filled with affection and envy. She had taken a nap after getting on the bus and had a dream. In her dream, she was wearing a pure white wedding dress, arm in arm with a man, walking into a sacred church. When the elderly priest held the Bible and announced their marriage, she was moved to tears of happiness. And that man was Zhang Bing! Waking up, recalling their brief encounter, thinking of Zhang Bing's tenderness and indulgence, their bickering, his feigned infatuation, his teasing and her subsequent hasty retreat, and how she had unhesitatingly thrown herself into his arms to escape her fear the previous night, Jiang Yan knew that her recent inner turmoil had been resolved—she had fallen in love with this man, no longer just a trusted friend!

At this moment, Jiang Yan's heart was filled with joy and happiness, because she knew Zhang Bing loved her too. She could feel the emotions hidden deep within his heart; she was certain Zhang Bing loved her very, very much! So, in that instant, all fear vanished, all unhappiness disappeared without a trace, leaving only joy and laughter. The bumpy mountain road, the high and low hills, became her ocean of joy, her ocean of laughter—she, Jiang Yan, was in love! A blissful love!

Jiang Yan instructed the driver to slow down further so as not to wake Zhang Bing. She glanced back at the still-sleeping man, his thick brows slightly furrowed, as if he were still pondering some matters. She smiled gently and said to Li Huan, "Sister Huan, what do you think Zhang Bing is thinking about right now? His brows are still furrowed!"

Li Huan glanced at Jiang Yan and smiled, "Thinking about what? Of course, he's thinking about you! He's thinking about how to protect his buddy, how to prevent his good friend from being frightened or hurt again!" Li Huan's words carried a hint of jealousy, and she also wanted to tease Jiang Yan. Last night, during the crisis, Zhang Bing had been holding Jiang Yan the whole time, leaving her all alone on the side. Even with her broad-mindedness, she was a little jealous. However, she had also come to terms with it. She, Qing'er, and Ling Shan would probably never become Zhang Bing's legitimate wives, and her feelings for him could never be transferred to other men. Since that was the case, there was no need for her to be jealous of others. Being his lover was good enough; she could enjoy his love, watch her baby Fei Fei grow up happily, and visit her parents more often when she had time. That was quite blissful!

Li Huan's joking remark unexpectedly struck a chord with Jiang Yan, making her feel sweet inside and beaming with joy. She sat there, lost in thought, wondering how to explain this relationship to her family when she got home. Li Huan, turning his head unintentionally, noticed Jiang Yan's expression and a thought struck him.

Fortunately, the military vehicle was in good condition, so although the journey was slow, they finally arrived at Hong Gang's hometown at noon.

It was a typical northern rural area. Hong Gang's family wasn't wealthy; their expenses were entirely supported by his eldest son, Hong Tie. Hong Gang only started earning a higher salary after working for Zhang Bing. This year, when he returned for the New Year, Zhang Bing had his sister give him a 30,000 yuan bonus, moving the strong man to tears.

Back home, the happy and grateful Hong family busied themselves preparing lunch for their guests from afar, while Zhang Bing and the others played with the two girls in the yard. Unexpectedly, the two girls now seemed to have forgotten their parents, instead having a great time playing with several children who had come to see what was going on after hearing the car. Although they couldn't understand some of the children's Shanxi dialect, the two girls hadn't played with peers for a long time, and the new environment and new games made it all very enjoyable. Both girls were incredibly cute, like ice sculptures, and were very popular with the local children, who kept inviting them to their homes.

"Hehe, look how popular our girls are!" Zhang Bing smiled and remarked to Li Huan, feeling much better after his short nap.

"Mmm!" Li Huan gave him a charming look, her heart filled with sweetness. If she had been jealous and resentful of Jiang Yan before, now she was only happy. If Jiang Yan hadn't been there, she probably would have secretly kissed Zhang Bing to express her feelings. Zhang Bing said "our child," and considering his usual doting on Fei Fei, Li Huan knew that this man had truly placed her in the role of a father, which was what she longed for most—a child without a father's love is incomplete, and Fei Fei's previous life had already proven this.

"And look, Fei Fei and Ai'er are becoming more and more like sisters, haha, that's good. They can grow up together, having a companion is much better than being an only child." In his excitement, Zhang Bing didn't realize that he had spoken his true feelings, or rather, his wishes, but the two women beside him heard it and it truly resonated with them, though neither of them said a word.

A little while later, Hong Ting came over to call everyone for dinner. The Shanxi rural specialties were quite enjoyable for those who had never tried them before, especially the two little girls and Jiang Yan. They insisted on having dinner there again, as their plan was to go back to the county town to have dinner with Minister Fang, and then travel to Beijing with him on his private plane the next day.

Zhang Bing, who doted on his children, naturally agreed with Jiang Yan's suggestion. After all, the girl would handle everything herself, and Minister Fang wouldn't blame him. But Jiang Yan's attitude changed when she called to explain.

"Uncle Fang, I've never been here before, and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. I also want to go to Wutai Mountain tomorrow. Why don't you come and relax? I guarantee it'll be fun and delicious!" Jiang Yan was practically trying to entice Fang Yuanshan to come and have dinner with them. It was unclear what the girl was thinking.

"Hehe, Uncle Fang said he'll be here this afternoon and will definitely make it in time for dinner!" Jiang Yan winked at Zhang Bing with a grin.

"Hehe, we have guests too! Good, good, welcome!" Hong Gang's family didn't know Fang Yuanshan's identity; they only thought he was their friend. So Hong Gang's mother welcomed him very easily. If she knew it was the Vice Minister of Public Security, she would have been panicked and flustered.

After dinner, Zhang Bing pulled Jiang Yan aside. "Miss, are you crazy? You invited Minister Fang here, and it takes four hours by car. Aren't you just making him angry and laughing?"

"You idiot!" Jiang Yan playfully poked his forehead. "Didn't you see how difficult Hong Gang's family's situation is? When Minister Fang comes, won't all those city and county leaders be following him around like lapdogs?"

"So what?"

"You pig-headed idiot! Those leaders will know that Minister Fang is related to Hong Gang's family, so won't they take extra care of the Hong family in the future? Such a good opportunity to help Hong Gang's family, why don't you take advantage of it, hee hee!" Jiang Yan giggled and tugged at Zhang Bing's ear, feeling a great sense of accomplishment.

Chapter 115 Eating Li Huan

Zhang Bing originally intended to stay at Hong Gang's house for the night, but since Jiang Yan had invited Minister Fang and accompanying county and city leaders, things couldn't be so simple.

However, during the meal, when Jiang Yan deliberately brought up the local transportation and Hong Gang's family's poverty, besides the county and city leaders' bitter faces, one person gained an unexpected benefit.

"Tingting, how far is your school from here? How do you get to school every day?" Jiang Yan asked casually.

Hong Ting didn't speak. The others looked at her curiously, only to find she was crying. Finally, her sister-in-law was the boldest to speak, "Our Tingting has a hard life. Her high school is 12 kilometers away. She and a classmate ride their bicycles back and forth every day. This child is sensible; she knows her family is poor and insists on not boarding at school."

The county and city leaders could only smile bitterly and remain silent. They had already apologized several times; repeating it would be redundant. These people were smart; they knew they could only prove themselves with concrete actions later. Everything else was superfluous. They already regretted coming here.

"Oh? That's so hard!" Jiang Yan hadn't expected such a surprising answer to her casual question. Kind-hearted, she felt she needed to do something to help this strong girl. "Why don't you and your brother come with us to Changxiang? You can stay at Zhang Bing's house or stay at school with me, and your second brother can take care of you!"

Hong Ting's face lit up, but she quickly lowered her head again. She didn't know her second brother's current situation, but she knew he had always barely managed to support himself, since he had just been discharged from the army and couldn't find a good job. Feeling that silence wasn't appropriate, and being more familiar with Jiang Yan, she boldly spoke up, "Sister Jiang Yan, my second brother can only support himself, how can he arrange for me to go to school?"

These words filled Hong Gang with shame. Although his life had become much more comfortable since he started dating Zhang Shao, and he was able to take care of his family, no one else in the family knew that he had only given 30,000 yuan to the housekeeper's mother that afternoon, moving her to tears.

"Zhang Bing, say something! I'm leaving Hong Ting's matter to you!" Jiang Yan, anxious at her inability to persuade Hong Ting, habitually passed the buck to Zhang Bing.

Zhang Bing smiled wryly. In front of so many county and city leaders, Jiang Yan was almost revealing her true colors, but he could only reply, "Hong Ting, go with your second brother over there. The school conditions there are better than here, which will benefit your college entrance exams. As for transferring schools here, the county leaders are all here. I think they will consider your actual situation and make special arrangements for you."

"Yes, it's good for Hong Ting to go with Xiao Bing. I trust him to handle things!" Minister Fang, with his quick thinking, would certainly act accordingly; his word was law.

"Okay, thank you, Brother Zhang Bing and Sister Jiang Yan!" Hong Ting looked at Zhang Bing, her excited eyes sparkling with a different kind of light.

Back in the county town, after the sycophantic leaders had left, Fang Yuanshan rubbed his aching back and joked, "Xiaoyan, aren't you afraid of wearing out your old bones for such a small thing?"

"Hehe! You never hide anything from me," Jiang Yan smiled sweetly. "You're a public servant. A little extra work can help improve transportation there and raise the living standards of the Hong Tie family. It's all worth it!"

"You silly girl, no wonder your father often can't handle you!" Fang Yuanshan shook his head with a smile, then turned to Zhang Bing, "Xiao Bing, how's your injury from last time? Should I contact a big hospital in Beijing for a checkup?"

Before Zhang Bing could speak, Jiang Yan interrupted, "Yes, Uncle Fang is so kind! I had forgotten about it! We must get it checked again, we can't let it leave any lasting damage. Please let us know after you've made the arrangements, Uncle Fang, I'll go with him!"

Back in his room, thinking of Sima Wen and Crazy, who were still waiting for his arrangements, Zhang Bing felt a headache coming on. Both of them wanted to come with him. Sima Wen was fine; he could help him at his sister's company. But Crazy was a typical gangster, skilled only in martial arts. Although Hong Gang said he was also a special forces soldier and his martial arts were comparable to Zhang Bing's, Zhang Bing's first requirement for those around him was loyalty. He didn't dare to trust a defector or opportunist, even though he had some goodwill towards him.

He called Jiang Yan and Li Huan into the room, wanting to hear their opinions.

"That's easy, why don't you just hand him over to Ling Shan? It's a perfect job for him, and Ling Shan can keep an eye on him to prevent him from causing trouble. If it's proven reliable, then you can make the arrangements, right?" Jiang Yan seemed to be trying to discourage Zhang Bing. "Come on, let's go to sleep. I thought it was something important."

Jiang Yan was really sleepy, having not slept well last night. Zhang Bing felt sorry for her and could only smile wryly as she left. Li Huan, on the other hand, was more awake and understood Zhang Bing's thoughts, so she didn't leave.

"Sister Huan, are the two girls asleep?" Zhang Bing gave Li Huan a cup of coffee she had prepared, then sat down beside her and hugged her. "Thank you for your hard work!"

Having not spent such an intimate time with Zhang Bing in a long time, Li Huan, feeling somewhat physically and mentally exhausted, thoroughly enjoyed his embrace. Shedding her usual domineering older sister persona, she curled up on the sofa, her legs tucked in, nestled in his arms like a kitten. "The baby's asleep. Can you hold me like this for a while, okay? Then we can talk."

"Mmm." Zhang Bing shifted his body to make Li Huan more comfortable, lovingly stroking her hair, inhaling its delicate fragrance, while his other hand massaged her shoulders and back.

But Li Huan's body was simply too alluring, especially for Zhang Bing, who hadn't been intimate with her in so long. Through the thin, smooth silk nightgown, his hand unconsciously slid from her shoulder inside, kneading her full, round breasts. For him, this was a place he could never tire of touching, never tire of kissing.

"You! You're so restless!" Li Huan felt the change in his body; the bulge pressing against him made her head uncomfortable while she slept. Seeing that she'd rested enough, she sat up, but still let his hands caress her breasts.

"Who told me I like you so much, and you're so tempting!" Zhang Bing gently kissed her face. "Sister Huan, isn't that right?"

Li Huan didn't answer; there was no need for an answer now. She opened her lips, welcoming Zhang Bing's domineering yet gentle masculine scent. Although they hadn't gone all the way, kissing and caressing were already commonplace. Li Huan still had some mental barriers, but she still craved this man's caresses and kisses; she couldn't refuse.

A passionate kiss ensued, leaving them both slightly breathless. Zhang Bing's hands didn't relax, still lovingly playing with her soft breasts. Because of the vigorous movements during the kiss, Zhang Bing had pulled down the neckline of her nightgown, exposing most of her full breasts to the air, the dark red nipples already erect, gleaming alluringly.

Zhang Bing couldn't resist kissing the small bump, startling Li Huan who tried to stop him, but it was too late.

"Xiao Bing, don't do this!" Li Huan struggled to suppress a moan. "We need to talk about serious matters, please don't do this!"

Zhang Bing ignored her. His desire was aroused, and it had been a long time since he'd been intimate with Huan-jie. He'd never kissed her breasts like this before. He wanted to caress her properly, and although he didn't have Huan-jie's consent, he would ultimately respect her decision and not go all the way.

Li Huan finally couldn't help but moan. The tingling sensation in her chest overwhelmed her reason. She involuntarily hugged Zhang Bing's head, her body trembling and rubbing against him.

Sensing her own need and glancing at Zhang Bing's swollen breast, Li Huan no longer intended to stop him. She had thought it through these past few days. Since she didn't care about titles, why refuse this man's advances? Giving him her whole heart was also giving herself closure—she loved him very much and couldn't live without him!

While tirelessly kissing the woman's beauty, Zhang Bing's hands began exploring other areas: peaks, plains, valleys, ravines, jungles, streams—he explored and kissed them all. Now, Li Huan was completely naked, her infinitely beautiful body exposed to the air, filling the room with a spring-like atmosphere.

"Xiao Bing, carry me to the bed!" Li Huan was already moaning so hard she was almost out of breath, feeling as if her soul was floating, as if she were ascending to heaven—it had been so long since she had been intimate with a man, she had almost forgotten that feeling of passion. Even the previous two times she was with Zhang Bing, they had only scratched the surface, after all, Fei Fei was nearby, and they couldn't let loose.

Receiving the long-awaited command, Zhang Bing got up without hesitation, picked up this peerless beauty, kissed her tenderly, and then they fell onto the soft bed together.

"Xiao Bing, I love you!" When Zhang Bing's spear finally pierced into that moist warmth, Li Huan's body trembled, and she hugged Zhang Bing's waist tightly. "I'm your woman now, your real woman!"

Zhang Bing didn't see that Li Huan, who was resting on his shoulder, shed a string of tears. There was joy, resentment, nostalgia, anticipation, and desire—a riot of colors, just like the expression in her eyes at that moment. ————

Chapter 116 General's Demeanor

Li Huan, having put aside her worries, experienced a second spring. The next day, while touring Mount Wutai, Jiang Yan kept observing Li Huan, and finally couldn't help but secretly ask Zhang Bing for confirmation.

"Did you notice? Sister Huan seems like a different person today. She's unusually beautiful and radiant, her eyebrows are all twitching with joy. It's so strange!" Jiang Yan whispered to Zhang Bing.

Zhang Bing was shocked. He dared not tell Jiang Yan that it was his doing. Last night they had made love three times, and both of them had experienced great pleasure. Today, Zhang Bing, who had rested well, also felt refreshed.

"Maybe it's because Huan-jie is in a good mood today? After all, the scenery here is quite nice, hehe!" Zhang Bing didn't dare to discuss this issue with this mischievous girl any further and quickly changed the subject. "You invited us to your home as guests, do your family agree?"

"Nonsense! How could they disagree when this young lady has asked?" Jiang Yan chased after Zhang Bing, blaming him for underestimating her. "My grandfather said you'll be staying at my house. My grandfather really wants to meet you! He heard the two little girls are very cute, and he's quite impatient. He loves children the most, hehe!"

Actually, Jiang Yan's words were somewhat untrue. Jiang Yan had said a lot of good things about Zhang Bing to her family, almost praising her to the skies. The Jiang family father and son were both shrewd people, and of course they saw through this girl's thoughts. Jiang Yongnian was still hesitating, but the old man Jiang happily asked to see Zhang Bing. The old man loved this granddaughter the most. Having stood at the pinnacle of power for too long, he saw through everything. As long as his granddaughter was happy, he didn't care about social status, because the Jiang family was already extremely powerful and didn't need to sacrifice their children's happiness for a political marriage. Of course, the old man did indeed like children, but he absolutely did not mention wanting to see the two little girls soon.

"Then I must pay my respects to the old man properly. He is a legendary figure in the history of our republic. I have admired him for a long time, hehe." Zhang Bing had a longing expression on his face. "By the way, tell me what the old man likes, so I can cater to his tastes and make him happy!"

"Why should I tell you? You're always bullying me, I'm not talking to you!" Jiang Yan remembered Zhang Bing's rude behavior of carrying her luggage when they went up the mountain, and glared at him angrily.

Zhang Bing smiled and wasn't angry. He knew that this girl was just good with her mouth and would tell him sooner or later. Maybe she had already prepared something—he was the poorest among them, and even if he knew the old man's preferences, he probably wouldn't have the money to buy them.

"Hurry up, look, those two little rascals have run ahead, even they can't keep up! And you've been nagging me to play longer!" Zhang Bing grabbed all of Jiang Yan's bags, pulled her hand, and ran. Jiang Yan blushed, a rare sight, but didn't pull away, only avoiding Zhang Bing's gaze.

When they reached Li Huan and the others, Jiang Yan quickly pulled her hand away, not wanting anyone to see. Li Huan had already seen it, but naturally remained silent; she was even somewhat pleased to see things develop between the two of them. Although Li Huan watched the two girls walk ahead, her eyes remained fixed on Zhang Bing. Thinking of last night's madness, she couldn't help but smile with delight.

Around 3 PM, the group couldn't walk any further. Jiang Yan reluctantly waved goodbye to the Buddhist holy site, and the group boarded the waiting military vehicle, heading straight to the nearby military airport, where Minister Fang was already waiting.

At 5 PM, the group finally stood on Beijing soil. After saying goodbye to Fang Yuanshan, they got into the Jiang family's waiting Hongqi sedan and headed straight for the General Staff Villa in Xiangshan.

As the car passed the gate, four fully armed sentries saluted at a straight line, making Zhang Bing envious. He knew that without this car, he would never have been able to get in. The car drove for quite a while before stopping in front of a small courtyard house.

Soldiers' houses are all pretty much the same, with sharp angles that give them a very rigid feel. However, the Jiang family's house just felt a bit bigger, especially the living room. Zhang Bing felt that even some civilian houses didn't have a living room as big as the Jiang family's. But the house was decorated in a tasteful way, large yet not empty. Because there were women in the house, especially the old man who doted on Jiang Yan, there were also many feminine trinkets, which softened the cold, hard feeling.

Entering the living room, you could see a sprightly old man with a full head of white hair, smiling broadly as he leaned on his cane in the center of the room. When he saw Jiang Yan come in, his goatee twitched with joy. He threw down his cane and strode over, "Haha, my dear granddaughter has finally decided to come back! I missed you so much!"

"Grandpa, Xiao Yan missed you too!" Jiang Yan quickly ran over to help the old man, kissed him on the cheek, and made the old man beam with joy. He hugged his granddaughter and kept laughing.

At this moment, a lieutenant colonel in military uniform who had been following the old man walked over and handed Jiang Yan the cane that the old man had just thrown away with a wry smile.

"Grandpa, how many times have I told you not to throw away your cane, not to walk alone? You're so old, what if you accidentally bump into something? I'd be worried sick! Did you hear me?" Jiang Yan let go of the old man, handed him the cane, but grabbed his arm and complained.

The old man reluctantly took the cane, affectionately stroking Jiang Yan's hair, but said angrily, "Your father is so meddlesome, insisting on getting this cane. I've been a soldier all my life, seen plenty of bullets and shells, why would I need one? Your father even told me it's a walking stick, but I think it's a symbol of corruption and incompetence. Look at those incompetent Kuomintang generals, they liked to use these things to show off, but when it came to fighting, they were cowards. They'd throw these things away and run faster than rabbits!"

The old man was genuinely agitated, and after saying so much, he was a little out of breath, which startled the lieutenant colonel behind him who offered him a glass of water, but the old man refused.

"Grandpa!" Jiang Yan patted the old man's back gently while pouting and glaring at him with her big, dissatisfied eyes.

"Okay, okay, Grandpa will listen to his good granddaughter. From now on, I'll always carry this walking stick and follow Secretary Zhang's instructions, okay?" The old man was most afraid of this action from his granddaughter, so he quickly raised his hands in surrender. Seeing Jiang Yan's bright smile immediately appear, he couldn't help but pat her head affectionately again, and then he smiled as well.

"Mommy, this old man is so strange. He's so old but doesn't like walking sticks. He's just as weird as Grandpa Chang!" At this moment, Fei Fei, who was following behind Li Huan, spoke up, breaking the silence of the house and waking up the grandparents who were having a family reunion.

Fei Fei's words startled Li Huan. This was the highest level of power in China. If he accidentally offended someone, even Vice Governor Li could only watch helplessly. Although children's words are innocent, it's still better to be careful when you don't know someone's character. Li Huan had already been very careful. Before entering the door, he had specifically told the two little girls not to talk nonsense, and he and Zhang Bing each held one of their hands. But Fei Fei still couldn't help herself and disturbed the family when they were having a heart-to-heart talk.

Jiang Yan glanced at Zhang Bing quickly and embarrassedly, then pouted at the old man, "Grandpa, look, it's all your fault! You made me forget all the friends I brought, leaving them standing at the door for so long, it's so embarrassing!"

Seeing his granddaughter's face, which was unusually flushed, the old man laughed heartily and waved to Zhang Bing and his group at the door, "Little ones, come in quickly, don't be shy here!" He

then instructed the lieutenant colonel behind him, "Xiao Zhang, go help them with their things."

At this moment, a middle-aged woman behind the old man came over, hugged and talked to Jiang Yan, and then, led by Jiang Yan, came over to greet Zhang Bing and his group.

As the group entered, Jiang Yan tried to introduce Zhang Bing and Li Huan, but the old man stopped her, saying readily, "No need for formalities. You all know who this old man is, and I know you're Zhang Bing and Li Huan. Our little girl always talks about them; I'm sick of hearing it. Why bother introducing them?"

But someone objected. Ai'er, seeing Fei Fei speak earlier, couldn't resist and quickly stepped forward from behind Zhang Bing. "But what about me? I'm Ai'er! Mom said you have to introduce yourself to be welcome at someone's house!"

"And me! I'm the cutest and happiest Fei Fei! Everyone loves me!" Fei Fei chimed in, not to be outdone, even though her mother had subtly warned her.

"Hmm, and also, welcome to our adorable Fei Fei and Ai'er! Haha." The old man said, walking towards the living room sofa. He was tired from standing for so long and needed to rest.

Only then did Jiang Yan tell everyone that the woman was her mother. "You wouldn't believe this is my mom, would you? My young and beautiful mom, hee hee!" Jiang Yan's tone was full of pride. After all, her mother was nearly 50 years old, but she always looked like she was in her 30s, which was something she was always proud of.

"What are you still standing there for? Come in and sit down. Ai'er, Feifei, come to your great-grandfather, let this old man take a good look at you." Seeing that everyone was still exchanging pleasantries, the old man was displeased. Soldiers don't like formalities.

"Xiao Yan, call your father and see if he's coming back for dinner. If he's not coming back, we'll start eating now. We can't let the two little darlings go hungry, hehe." After everyone sat down, the old man began to give orders again.

Chapter 117 Shocking Zhongnanhai

After dinner, Zhang Bing was called to the study to play a game of chess with the old man. They were using the same set of antique wooden chess pieces that Zhang Bing had given to the old man—which Jiang Yan had prepared for Zhang Bing.

The old man deliberately sent Jiang Yan out as well, leaving only the two of them, saying that playing chess required quiet.

Zhang Bing was very nervous. He didn't know what the old man was testing him for, but he certainly wouldn't do this without reason. So he could only proceed cautiously, moving slowly. The old man, however, always wore a smile, placing his pieces at a steady pace, relentlessly pressuring Zhang Bing.

When Zhang Bing became flustered and, in an attempt to save one of his knights, retreated a rook that posed a significant threat to the old man, he inadvertently fell into the old man's long-range cannon's blockade. The old man could no longer contain himself and shouted, "Momentum, mentality!"

This abrupt shout startled Zhang Bing, almost causing him to drop the piece he was hesitating over. But then, a sudden realization dawned on him, and he understood the old man's meaning. He glanced at the old man, quickly sat up straight, took a deep breath to regulate his breathing, and then began to ponder the chessboard.

Five minutes later, both sides charged into battle again. This time, the game was much more interesting. Zhang Bing was no longer timid or hesitant, and his moves were more skillful. Although his spirit wasn't as high as the old man's, he was no longer as tense and humble as before. But without a doubt, half an hour later, Zhang Bing's checkmate was captured by the old man's horse and a pawn that had crossed the river, supported by a long-range cannon. Meanwhile, on his own side, a horse, two elephants, and a advisor held off Zhang Bing's combined attack of chariot, horse, and cannon.

"I'll give you five minutes to think, and then tell me your feelings about this game." The old man slammed the pawn that had crossed the river down in front of Zhang Bing, then closed his eyes to rest. It was that pawn that had just cornered Zhang Bing's king.

Five minutes later, the old man opened his eyes precisely on time and pointed to the clock on the wall.

"First, I lost, you won, but I still have a chance to start over; second, you are a strategist, while I am not even a tactician. A strategist can be a commander, and a tactician can be a general—this is a huge difference; third, momentum is the starting point of a confrontation. We need the kind of spirit described in 'Bright Sword,' the courage to draw our swords even when we know we are inferior to our opponents."

Zhang Bing himself didn't know why he said those words. He only knew that ever since he adjusted his mindset after the old man's sharp rebuke, he felt as if some unseen thread was pulling him, trying to tell him something. When the old man asked him to think and analyze after his victory, these words jumped into his mind. For the past five minutes, he had been pondering whether he had come up with those words himself, and why he could say something so insightful, even though he himself didn't quite understand it, but to no avail. When the old man asked for a result, he uncontrollably repeated those words.

Zhang Bing was in a daze, but the old man was shocked. The more he talked, the greater his shock became, until even his previously calm expression disappeared. His old face alternated between shock and surprise, and he remained stunned even after Zhang Bing finished speaking.

"Grandpa, I know my abilities are limited, please give me your guidance!" Zhang Bing finished speaking, and his mind and body immediately returned to normal. Now that things had come to this, he couldn't dwell on whether his sudden thought was strange; he could only humbly ask the old man for his opinion, because he now understood that the old man wanted to instruct him.

After speaking, Zhang Bing waited a long time, but the old man didn't move. He then curiously glanced at him, and what he saw almost scared him out of his wits—the old man was panting heavily, his face flushed and pale, the symptoms of an elderly person's heart failing. Zhang Bing's grandfather had died in the same way; he remembered it clearly.

Without thinking, Zhang Bing scrambled to open the study door, shouting, "Secretary Zhang, Secretary Zhang, Jiang Yan, Jiang Yan, come quick, come quick!" Secretary

Zhang was the lieutenant colonel who followed the old man, the central government's personal secretary sent to take care of him. He had been with the old man for five years, rising from lieutenant to lieutenant colonel in those five years, a testament to the old man and the Jiang family's satisfaction with him.

The next second, Secretary Zhang appeared beside Zhang Bing, glanced at the panicked Zhang Bing, and then went straight to the old man's study without stopping.

When Jiang Yan and the others arrived at the study, Secretary Zhang was giving the old man some medicine with boiled water, and then massaging him to help him swallow and digest.

After a while, when Secretary Zhang's forehead was covered in sweat, the old man finally coughed a few times and moved his body. Secretary Zhang was overjoyed, slowed down her massage and rubbed the old man's chest, then breathed a sigh of relief and stood aside, but still glanced at Zhang Bing very discreetly, a sharp glint flashing in her eyes.

"Alas, I'm old, I'm really not good anymore, I almost went to see my mother!" The old man moved his limbs and finally stood up, sighing.

The old man was old, but his soldierly instincts hadn't diminished. He seemed to notice the look Secretary Zhang was giving Zhang Bing, and waved his hand behind him. "This isn't Zhang Bing's fault, it's my own fault. I got a little too excited!"

After saying this, the old man's expression turned serious. He pondered for a moment, glanced at Zhang Bing again, and then said to Jiang Yan, "Girl, quickly call your father and tell him to come back to see me before I go to bed at 9 pm, no matter what!"

"Grandpa, you need to rest—" Jiang Yan protested. The old man's appearance had scared her half to death, and she was about to plead with him to rest when the old man interrupted her with a serious expression.

"Go now! This is an order. Tell your father that he must come back to see me tonight, no matter what, or I'll stay up all night waiting for him!" The old man's shout startled everyone. Secretary Zhang quickly went to the old man's side in case of any unforeseen circumstances, while Jiang Yan looked at the old man with a wronged expression and silently went to the hospital.

"Alright, you can all go outside and rest. Secretary Zhang, stay and sit with me for a while!" The old man dismissed everyone and then silently sat down in a chair, closing his eyes in deep thought, leaving Secretary Zhang watching him nervously.

In the living room, everyone was uneasy and the atmosphere was heavy due to the sudden turn of events, especially Zhang Bing. He clearly understood Secretary Zhang's gaze—it was a warning and stern anger. Although the old man didn't blame him, and no one asked about it again after everyone sat down, he felt terrible. If something had happened to the old man, he would be in serious trouble. Forget about his future career; even his life might not be his own.

Jiang Yan returned from the phone call, still angry and aggrieved. Her grandfather had always doted on her and rarely spoke to her so harshly. This sudden change was unbearable, especially since her intention was to care for her grandfather's health—something everyone could see. But how could his attitude towards her change so quickly after this unexpected turn of events?

"Xiaoyan, call your father. What did he say?" Seeing the somber atmosphere, Jiang Yan's mother, Ye Wen, broke the silence, asking the question everyone was concerned about. After all, many things could only be decided when Jiang Yongnian returned, and a man's role in crucial moments was something a woman could never match.

"Dad's in a management meeting. I told him about Grandpa's dangerous situation and attitude just now, and he said he'd come back immediately!" Jiang Yan's eyes were still brimming with tears, and she felt increasingly aggrieved.

"By the way, Zhang Bing, what exactly happened just now? Grandpa has always been very careful about his health over the years, and this has never happened before." Jiang Yan figured it must be related to this incident, and without holding back, she asked Zhang Bing directly.

Zhang Bing also needed to explain the situation so everyone could analyze it together, but since no one else had brought it up, he was embarrassed to say it, otherwise people would think he was trying to shirk responsibility.

After Zhang Bing recounted the entire story, concealing the strange thread in his mind and the mysterious control he felt over him, presenting his words as his own interpretation, everyone was astonished. To them, the whole affair was nothing surprising; what could have made the old man so excited? They were increasingly perplexed.

Unbeknownst to those in the hall, the entire Zhongnanhai was in an uproar.

Jiang Yan's call was answered by Jiang Yongnian's secretary, who told him that Vice Premier Jiang was attending a Premier's Executive Meeting to discuss the specific arrangements for next year's Two Sessions. Because the meeting was important, Jiang Yongnian had specifically instructed beforehand that no one was allowed to disturb him. However, when Jiang Yan directly told him that the matter involved the old man's orders, the secretary was unsure and had to consult with the Premier's secretary before finally deciding to enter the meeting room to report the news. Meanwhile, while Jiang Yongnian was on the phone with his daughter, the Premier also learned that the matter concerned the old man.

Chapter 118 The Joyful Buddha

The higher the rank, the more one understands the importance and influence of Old Master Jiang, and the more concerned one is with everything concerning him. Moreover, Jiang Yongnian is now confirmed to be a member of the Standing Committee next year and will officially assume the premiership the year after. Old Master Jiang has always been fair and selfless, and has never given such orders to his son. Jiang Yongnian has never interrupted any work because of family matters. Seeing that Jiang Yongnian returned urgently after receiving the phone call and hurriedly asked for leave, the Premier decisively adjourned the meeting and immediately drove to Xiangshan. Following closely behind, the other members of the Politburo Standing Committee, who also knew more or less about the matter, rushed to the Xiangshan villa.

Thus, what Zhang Bing and Li Huan saw was that Jiang Yongnian hadn't even entered the study to greet Old Master Jiang before having to turn back to greet the guests, and what they found was a collective visit from the Politburo Standing Committee to the Jiang family.

Of course, Old Master Jiang had to go out to greet the Politburo Standing Committee members, but unexpectedly, he introduced Zhang Bing to the leaders.

After welcoming the large group of people into the living room, Old Master Jiang called Zhang Bing, who had been silently observing the demeanor of the leaders while following Jiang Yan, over. "Xiao Bing, go with Secretary Zhang to tidy up my study. I just had a close call with death and am back now. While I'm in good spirits, I want to have a good chat with the leaders!"

"This is a friend my daughter met outside, named Zhang Bing, hehe!" Watching Zhang Bing's departing figure, the old man added a special explanation. Everyone was smart enough to understand that the old man was intentionally introducing her, and many were speculating that it seemed the old man had decided on a grandson-in-law!

With a single sentence, the old man introduced Zhang Bing, explained why he had hurriedly called his son back, and answered everyone's questions. Everyone was busy with their own affairs, so they chatted casually in the study about their concern for the old man before taking their leave.

The old man finally breathed a sigh of relief. Ignoring his exhaustion and the greetings of others, he solemnly called his son into the study and told Secretary Zhang that no one should disturb him.

The conversation lasted for over an hour. By the time Jiang Yongnian left the study, everyone was already drowsy.

"Secretary Zhang, go and help the old man to bed. He's very tired," Jiang Yongnian said absentmindedly, clearly troubled by some issues. He slowly glanced at everyone. "Jiang Yan, arrange for Zhang Bing and Li Huan to rest, then come to the study to see me!" He then went directly into his study.

Nothing more was said that night.

The next morning, the atmosphere of the previous night seemed to have vanished, but Zhang Bing was clearly not in good spirits. The plan for the morning was to take the children shopping and then visit Minister Fang's house for lunch. Zhang Bing thought for a moment and asked Jiang Yan to find him a car. He needed to go out for a while and would go directly to Dongdan to find them later.

Seeing Zhang Bing's insistence, Jiang Yan had no choice but to take Li Huan and the two girls to Dongdan for shopping, while sending a car for Zhang Bing to go alone. However, seeing that Zhang Bing was not in good spirits, she insisted on sending a driver for safety reasons, which Zhang Bing did not refuse and readily accepted.

"To Yonghe Temple!" Zhang Bing said to the driver with a gloomy face and then fell silent.

Zhang Bing actually slept very well last night, but it was so good that he had a dream. In the dream, he saw a Buddha statue in a male-female sexual position, and the two heads of the Buddha statue kept repeating the word "Yonghe Temple" to him. Zhang Bing recognized the Buddha statue—it was the mysterious Buddha of Bliss in Buddhism.

Zhang Bing was disturbed by the Buddha statue all night, and the name "Yonghe Temple" kept flashing in his mind, as if it was trying to lead him and make him unable to concentrate on anything. In the end, he had no choice but to leave the others behind and decide to follow his intuition to explore the place.

Yonghe Temple was originally the residence of Emperor Yongzheng before he became emperor, when he was Prince Yong. After becoming emperor, he bestowed the place upon the Living Buddha Zhangjia Hutuktu as a temple for Tibetan lamas, thus giving Tibetan Buddhism a foothold and development base in Beijing. In recent years, with the increasing attention the country has paid to Tibetan areas, Yonghe Temple has also received increasing attention, becoming a Buddhist holy site in the hearts of Beijing residents. When

the car arrived at the gate of Yonghe Temple, Zhang Bing wanted to get out, but the gatekeeper had sharp eyes and recognized the license plate as belonging to a national leader—it was one of Jiang Yongnian's official vehicles, specially given to Zhang Bing by Jiang Yan in case he encountered trouble in Beijing and could use the license plate to get away with it. The gatekeeper quickly directed others at the ticket office to open the red-lacquered gate and respectfully let the car into the temple, not to mention the ticket.

"Brother, please wait here for me, I'll be out in a moment!" Zhang Bing said to the driver, and then got out of the car alone.

Originally, lamas from the temple had come out to greet him, but seeing a young man emerge from the car, they were somewhat disappointed and their movements were a little slow. By the time they reached Zhang Bing and were about to offer their welcome, Zhang Bing had already stepped up the stairs without even looking up and walked away alone.

The lamas were quite perceptive; seeing that this distinguished guest of unknown origin didn't want to be disturbed, and not wanting to go through the trouble of serving this young man, they let Zhang Bing go.

Entering the Yonghe Temple, Zhang Bing was certain that his dream from the previous night was indeed strange, because the sensations within his body were becoming increasingly clear—like some kind of call, or some kind of connection. He couldn't explain it, only that his body was drawn to a certain part of the temple, and his body involuntarily followed his senses inside.

Following his intuition through twists and turns, Zhang Bing finally entered a pavilion. Looking at the bizarrely shaped Buddha statue in the main hall, depicting a man and woman in sexual intercourse, Zhang Bing's intuition grew stronger. He finally confirmed that last night's dream wasn't real; it was this Buddha statue that was causing the trouble. Since he had never been to the Yonghe Temple before, he naturally didn't know about this Buddha statue and therefore wouldn't have had a dream.

"You've finally arrived?" Standing before the Buddha statue, a strange voice echoed in Zhang Bing's mind.

Zhang Bing was no longer surprised. He wasn't a staunch materialist, and although he didn't believe in idealism, he still had doubts and speculations about many supernatural phenomena. Since this Buddha statue could enter his dream, it wasn't surprising that it spoke to him.

"Who are you? What are you doing bringing me here?" Zhang Bing questioned inwardly. He dared not ask aloud, fearing people would think he was crazy. After meeting those national leaders last night, he was now a figure of considerable influence. Although he wasn't entirely self-aware, he still possessed the necessary caution at this moment.

Sure enough, the moment Zhang Bing's question entered his mind, the other person understood.

"You unfilial son, still not awake?" Seeing Zhang Bing's slightly bewildered expression, the other person's voice held a hint of regret, and then suddenly began to tell a story: "Guanyin Bodhisattva, out of compassion for all sentient beings, used her benevolent power to transform into the form of a woman named Vinayaka and came to the residence of King Huanxi. King Huanxi, seeing Vinayaka's beauty, was suddenly filled with revulsion and wanted to embrace her, but was refused. He then had to treat her with proper respect. At this time, the woman said: 'Although I am a woman, I have long been a follower of Buddhism and have received the robes and bowl. If you truly wish to be close to me, you can follow my teachings and become a Buddhist believer. In your next life, you will protect the Buddha and the Dharma, without creating karmic obstacles or harboring evil intentions. Only then can you become my friend.' King Huanxi was overjoyed to hear this and said: 'I have met you according to fate. From now on, I will certainly follow you to protect the Dharma and do good deeds.'" "Then Vinayaka embraced him with a smile."

After a while, the voice sounded again, "You unfilial son, still not awakened?"

"Alas, it seems your spiritual root in this life is still too shallow, what a pity! Then let me tell you! I am your master, Shakyamuni. You were originally my prized disciple, the Joyful Buddha, but 100,000 years ago, the Buddhist realm was in chaos, and you died protecting me at the hands of your enemies. After eliminating the enemy, I collected your remaining soul fragments, combined with the power of Guanyin, and finally allowed your remnant soul to be reincarnated, to be reborn as a human, hoping that one day your spiritual root would awaken, and you would once again become a Buddha and accompany me. However, 999 lifetimes have passed, and you are still unmoved. In this life, due to an unexpected blow to your love, you finally stirred your spiritual root. Through intercourse with several women, you finally accumulated enough energy to allow me to communicate with you ——————————"

"I summoned you here today intending to enlighten you before your true form, so you could quickly cultivate and attain Buddhahood. However, given your low spiritual root, you cannot withstand my power, so I have to abandon this plan. I can only tell you that you must quickly complete your form as the Joyful Buddha to have a chance to ascend to Buddhahood!"

The voice—no, perhaps it could be called Shakyamuni—seemed tired from speaking so much and fell silent, seemingly wanting Zhang Bing to comprehend it alone.

After a long silence, Zhang Bing grew anxious. He had no mood to comprehend anything; his mind was completely muddled, and he could

n't recover for a while. How could Zhang Bing have the mind to meditate and comprehend anything? "You unfilial son, I'm leaving. This parting may be our last. Take care!" The Buddha's voice suddenly rang out again, but it was unusually deep and disappointed. "Remember one thing: those who should be saved by the body of a woman, the Buddha should transform into a woman to save them."

Chapter 119 Myth:

Those who should be saved by the body of a woman, the Buddha should transform into a woman to save them?

Zhang Bing was dumbfounded. What kind of talk was this? Did the so-called Buddha mean that in order to better develop his spiritual root and achieve Buddhahood more quickly, he needed to have more sexual relations with women?

Damn it, this wasn't the old society, nor was it Tibet or India—where polygamy was encouraged. Monogamy was the accepted social norm now. If he went down that path, wouldn't he be courting death? He'd probably be beheaded in broad daylight before he even ascended to immortality!

Thinking this, Zhang Bing was startled: Could it be some kind of cult, like the CCP, trying to frame him? It's said that Li Hongzhi, the CCP leader, used clandestine methods to lure people into his trap, ensnaring them in his beliefs before amassing wealth, promoting fallacies, and ultimately betraying the country and the Party!

But that voice clearly came from his own mind! Could the likes of the CCP really be that powerful?

Zhang Bing, unsure of what to do, stood there blankly, his mind a complete mess.

"Amitabha, benefactor, is there anything I can do for you?" A Buddhist chant sounded from behind. Zhang Bing had been there too long, and the presiding lama, still uneasy about this young man with connections but unknown background, had come personally.

A sudden realization dawned on Zhang Bing: weren't there ready-made masters to help him? Perhaps listening to these lamas would help him correctly understand the words left by Shakyamuni.

"Thank you for your concern, Master!" Zhang Bing turned around with a smile and bowed to the lama. "If someone should be saved through the body of a woman, then the Buddha should transform into a woman to save him. Master, what is the meaning of this?"

Master Hulun was already 60 years old, but he was vigorous, with a ruddy complexion, sharp hearing and eyesight, and moved with the strength of the wind, showing no signs of the frailty of old age.

Hearing Zhang Bing's question, Master Hulun smiled slightly. "The great monk's Dharma name is Hulun, please address him as such. To seek the true meaning of this saying, please first observe all the Buddha statues in this Tantric Hall!"

Zhang Bing was speechless. Although he didn't understand and didn't want to waste time here, in order to gain a better understanding and to determine what kind of conspiracy his strange encounter was, he had no choice but to patiently and carefully observe all the Buddha statues in the hall.

Master Hulun could tell from Zhang Bing's expression that he was somewhat impatient, a common problem among young people, so he smiled slightly and began to explain in detail.

"Please look at this main image, called the Twin Deities Image. The 'Happiness Vajra,' 'Chakra Vajra,' and 'Kalachakra Vajra' we commonly refer to are all in this form. The main deity has eight faces and sixteen arms, embracing his consort. Each of the sixteen hands holds a headdress containing objects. The right hand holds objects representing a white elephant, a blue donkey, a red donkey, a red bull, a gray snake, a red man, a blue lion, and a red cat; the left hand holds objects representing Yellow Earth Deity, White Water Deity, Red Fire Deity, Blue Wind Deity, White Sun Deity, Red Sun Deity, Blue Hell Emperor, and Yellow Wealth Giver. His feet rest on two reclining figures. The consort is named 'Vajra Selfless Buddha Mother,' with one face and two arms, holding a curved knife in her right hand and a headdress in her left."

"Now, please look at this single statue. It has a bull's head and nine bodies joined together. Its Chinese name is 'Vajrabhairava' or 'Great Vajrabhairava King,' and its Tibetan name is 'Gyije Dorje.' This joyous Buddha has nine heads, but its hands and arms are not just 18; they extend 18 from each shoulder, for a total of 36. Its legs and feet on both hips also have 18 each, totaling 36 legs and 36 feet. Beneath its feet lie a golden bull and two naked young men and women wearing golden crowns. According to Buddhist legend, 'Vajrabhairava' was a disciple of Buddha Shakyamuni. To protect Buddhism, he used extremely fierce methods to attack enemies when fighting against heretics. The golden bull and the naked men and women beneath his feet are the followers he captured."

After waiting a while, seeing that Zhang Bing had carefully observed everything and pondered for a while, Master Hulun continued.

"Please also look at other images of the Joyful Buddha. Whether single or paired, the Joyful Buddha represents the subjugation of demons and the attainment of great victory through chanting. Both single and paired Joyful Buddhas are nude, symbolizing liberation from the defiled world. The male figure embracing the female figure represents method (skillful means), while the female figure represents wisdom—the so-called combination of method and wisdom.

There is a mythical legend about the origin of the Joyful Buddha. The *Four Vinayaka Teachings* states that Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, out of compassion for all sentient beings, used his benevolent power to transform into the form of the woman Vinayaka and came to the abode of King Joyful King..." When King Huanxi saw that Vinayaka was beautiful, he was suddenly filled with revulsion and wanted to embrace her, but she refused. He then had to treat her with proper respect. At this time, the woman said, "Although I am a woman, I have long been a Buddhist and have received the robes and bowl. If you truly wish to be close to me, you can follow my teachings and become a Buddhist. In your next life, you will protect the Buddha and the Dharma, without creating negative karma or harboring evil intentions. Only then can you become my friend." King Huanxi was overjoyed to hear this and said, "I have met you according to fate. From now on, I will follow you to protect the Dharma and do good deeds." Then Vinayaka embraced him with a smile.

Therefore, the image of the Joyful Buddha is always that of a male and female Buddha embracing. This is just as the Buddhist scriptures say: "Those who should be liberated by taking the body of a woman, the Buddha should transform into a woman to liberate them."

After saying this long passage, Master Hulun smiled and waited to the side, letting Zhang Bing digest it herself.

Dizzy! Zhang Bing's only feeling right now was dizziness! However, he also learned that the story told by the Shakyamuni was from the Buddhist scripture *The Four Vinayakas*, which many people knew. Therefore, it seemed even more likely that the Shakyamuni was an imposter.

Zhang Bing cursed inwardly, but outwardly had to continue seeking guidance from Master Hulun. He vowed to understand the truth, otherwise, if the other party continued with some superstitious nonsense, disturbing his peace, it would be a loss.

"This junior is ignorant; please continue to guide me, Master, so that I may understand the boundless truth of Buddhism!" Zhang Bing flattered the other party, fearing he might become impatient.

Master Hulun smiled slightly. He saw through Zhang Bing's trick, but it wasn't worth arguing with. The other party was determined to understand this story, which meant he was a person with affinity for Tibetan Buddhism; it was only right that he put in some effort.

"Let me tell you the story from earlier. In simple terms, it's like this: King Vinayaka, a devout follower of Brahmanism, was cruel and slaughtered Buddhists. Shakyamuni sent Avalokiteshvara in the form of a woman to have intercourse with Vinayaka. The lustful Vinayaka was ultimately conquered by the woman and converted to Buddhism, becoming the principal deity among the Vajras on the Buddhist altar. This describes the origin of the Buddha of Bliss. The woman Avalokiteshvara transformed into is also called Vinayaka Woman, and the King of Bliss is called Vinayaka Man, who later became known as the Bright King and Bright Queen. Do you understand, benefactor?"

Damn it, why didn't they say so earlier? I was confused by the titles. So that's how it is! They're just making things complicated, taking advantage of people like us who have no knowledge of Buddhism! Zhang Bing inwardly spat, nodding in understanding.

“Alright, I understand that point. Now, let me explain the main tenets of Tibetan Tantric Buddhism and the closely related Hindu perspective to you. You can then find the answers you need.” Master Hulun guided Zhang Bing step by step. His dedication and professionalism impressed Zhang Bing greatly, and Zhang Bing became serious and respectful as well.

"Vajrayana Buddhism originated in India in the 7th century and was introduced to China during the Tang Dynasty. In Tibet, it combined with local folk beliefs to become Tibetan Vajrayana. As a branch of Buddhism, Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism (commonly known as Lamaism) pursues the same ultimate goal as other sects. However, compared to Han Chinese Buddhism, often referred to as 'Exoteric Buddhism,' which focuses on theoretical exploration, Tibetan Buddhism takes Vajrayana as its essence, characterized by highly organized incantations and rituals, as well as popular beliefs. It promotes a practice combining the three secrets: oral recitation of mantras (speech secret), hand mudras (body secret), and mental visualization (mind secret).

The worship of the Yab-Yum Buddha in Vajrayana serves as a 'mind-training tool' and an 'opportunity' for cultivating Buddhahood. Master Tsongkhapa said, 'To train the mind, one must have faith in the object of meditation,' thus venerating the Yab-Yum Buddha." "Observing forms and discerning their appearance" gradually becomes routine, leading to a sense of familiarity and diminishing desires. Buddhist teachings state that "form is emptiness, emptiness is form; form is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from form," utilizing the "union of emptiness and bliss" to cultivate enlightenment and achieve the goal of "using desire to control desire." The fierce appearances of the Vidyarajas (wisdom kings) are not only used to frighten away external demons, but more importantly, to deal with themselves and their inner afflictions. The alluring and beautiful consorts, who are one with these seemingly cruel Vidyarajas, are indispensable partners in their spiritual practice. In Buddhist terms, their role in practice is described as "first enticing them with desire, then leading them to Buddhist wisdom." They offer their desires to the cruel gods and demons, influencing them and then guiding them to the realm of Buddhahood.

“Unlike the non-existence (“nothingness”) advocated by exoteric Buddhism, esoteric Buddhism affirms the existence (“being”) of the real world. Based on this affirmation of all things, esoteric Buddhism believes that the union of yin and yang is the cause of the universe and all things, and also the ultimate liberation of religion. The ‘Yamanita’ (Buddha of Bliss

) is a diagram of this theoretical concept.” After a pause, seeing that Zhang Bing seemed to understand, Master Hulun continued, “Next, I will explain to you the differences between Buddhism and Hinduism, as well as their respective histories, so that you can better understand. You should know that esoteric Buddhism survived, developed, and grew because Buddhism absorbed some Hindu viewpoints during a time of crisis.”

"There were originally significant differences between Buddhism and Hinduism. Buddhism denies the existence of a creator and ruler of the universe, while Hinduism asserts that all things were created by an omnipotent Brahma. Buddhism advocates the 'Middle Way' and opposes extremism; while different sects of Hinduism either engage in extreme self-torture or indulge in debauchery. In social life, Buddhism advocates equality for all beings, while Hinduism implements a strict caste system. In artistic expression, Buddhism pursues the ideal of peace and tranquility, while Hinduism strives to express the majesty of the universe and deities through strong dynamic changes. However, after the Gupta Dynasty (320-600 AD), Buddhism gradually declined in India. In South India, due to the great power of Hinduism, Buddhism was even excluded from these regions. In Bengal, on the other side of ancient India, under the protection of the Pala Dynasty (750-1150 AD), Buddhism was preserved for a relatively long period, becoming the last bastion of Buddhism on the verge of disappearing from the Indian subcontinent."

"However, in order to continue its development, Buddhism at this time had to absorb a lot of Hindu content, evolving into Tantric Buddhism. Buddhist art was also deeply influenced by Hinduism, introducing many Hindu guardian deities, and the appearance of multi-headed and multi-armed bodhisattva statues, wrathful deities, and other deities that emphasized mystery and sensuality. Particularly typical is the appearance of many images of male-female tantric practices. In essence, these male-female tantric practices are also products of the influence of Hindu Shakti."

Tantric Buddhism, also known as Tantra, derives its name from the root word "tantra" (mantra), which means reproduction or procreation. It inherits the ideas and practices of the Shakti (hedonistic) school of Hinduism. Compared to other schools within Hinduism, Shakti is a system of action. It also seeks liberation, but not in the afterlife, but in this life. It does not abstain from worldly pleasures but actively seeks out sensual enjoyment and experiences with "mountain gods." Shakti places particular emphasis on sexual energy and sexual rituals, believing that sex is the greatest creative energy source. Through sexual intercourse, the creative energy within the human soul and body can be stimulated, merging with the great energy of the cosmic soul to achieve a state of ultimate liberation. A high spiritual realm. Therefore, they directly used sex itself as a religious ritual, in which men and women communicated with the divine; this ritual was called "Wheel Treasure Offering." It was performed at midnight by several married or unmarried couples, involving "five kinds of pleasure." The first four were fish, meat, wine, grains, and food; the last was sex. Before sex, meditation and other preparations were required, along with a period of foreplay, followed by sex in various forms. The man and woman merged into one in bliss, experiencing the unity of their individual soul and the universal soul. The image of the Blissful Buddha and the Queen Mother embracing and engaging in intercourse, with the Queen Mother holding his head and one leg wrapped around his waist, represents the so-called "Great Bliss" form.
