It originates in the middle jiao, belongs to the lung, connects with the large intestine, and links with the stomach meridian and lung qi. After emerging from the lung qi, its external path begins at the upper part of the lateral chest, runs along the anterior medial aspect of the upper limb, passes through the cun-kou point, and branches off from the radial side of the thumb, ending at the radial side of the index finger where it intersects with the Hand Yangming Large Intestine Meridian.

Its pathway has two main characteristics:

First, it runs from the chest to the hand.

Second, it primarily runs along the anterior medial aspect of the upper limb. It is mainly used to treat lung and blood disorders such as cough, asthma, hemoptysis, and sore throat, as well as other ailments along its pathway.
