Chapter 41.
The fourth day of the voyage was another beautiful, sunny day. Everyone was making the most of their time on the ship, because when they woke up the next morning, the large ship would have already docked in Shanghai, concluding the entire voyage.

Xi Jialing probably already knew what had happened between my wife and me. She told me to spend the last day with her, while she would take care of our daughter. So, this last day of wonderful time meant no chance to enjoy another threesome.

I really did accompany my wife to buy that Cartier watch that cost 40,000 yuan even after the discount, and, for the first time ever, I agreed to let her go to the casino during the day. Watching her surrounded by a group of men, having a great time, I could only smile and shake my head.

"Your wife seems to have recovered."

I turned around and saw Shi Mengyun and her best friend appearing behind me at some point. Today, she was wearing a light blue chiffon dress, and her long golden hair was styled in a ponytail, a completely different style from yesterday.

I wasn't familiar with her best friend, so we smiled and exchanged greetings.

“My name is Meng Jingshan, hello.”

“Hello, Lu Jianhao.”

I turned to Shi Mengyun and said, “She’s like a child; I won’t bring it up again now that it’s over.”

Meng Jingshan sensed we might have something to say and obediently slipped aside to stroll around.

“Mind exchanging contact information?” Shi Mengyun waved her phone.

“Were you serious yesterday?” I was a little surprised; I didn’t think a single woman like her would actually want to try swapping.

“I don’t like joking.”

“But are you really sure? You’re single now, there’s nothing to trade. Being with me would just make you an appendage to our marriage, and there are a lot of uncertainties if you act alone.”

She shrugged. “I don’t know, I guess it’s just living for the moment. I’ve wasted so much time on a jerk, I should find some fun for myself, right? Besides, I don’t think I can guarantee that my possessiveness will allow me to continue living like you guys after marriage, so I’m giving it a try while I’m still single.”

I nodded, took out my phone and added her on WeChat. “I won’t introduce you to my wife yet, it might be a little awkward right now, let’s talk about it when we get back to Shanghai.”

She smiled at me. “Okay, I’m leaving now, you keep her company, it’s nice to know you.” As she spoke, she extended her right hand to me, and I instinctively wanted to shake her hand, but her hand curved in mid-air and gently patted my arm, like an old friend, and then she and Meng Jingshan walked away.

I was a little surprised, but I was only slightly stunned for a moment before turning around and walking back to the casino.

I wandered around the casino for a while and then noticed my wife standing at the entrance, pouting. I knew immediately she'd lost her $100, since we'd agreed to go for $100 each time, and

if she lost it all, she'd leave and come back another time. Aside from that one crazy night, she'd always lost more than she won. It was hard to say whether she was lucky that night or that sleazy old man, Zhang Shuigen, was lucky.

"What's wrong, beautiful? Lost it all? I'll give you money, just sleep with me for a night," I said with a grin as I walked over to her.

She pouted and said, "I don't know how many nights I've slept with you, and you still haven't given me any money."

I put my arm around her shoulder. "Haha, okay, it's all smoky and noisy here, let's go for a walk, get some fresh air, and then come back to try and win it back." On

the top deck, we strolled slowly along the railing, surrounded by the excited screams of children playing on the water facilities.

"Was that girl that bastard's girlfriend? You two seemed like friends to me."

So I recounted what happened yesterday, from how I tricked them into giving me their accommodation information, lured them to get the photos, planted seeds of suspicion in their midst, to the chance encounter that night, and the late-night fling.

My wife's eyes widened as she listened. "Honey, you're amazing! How did you come up with all this in such a short time?"

"Who says you can only teach them a lesson with your fists? For scoundrels like that, a few scratches are too good for them; they might even become badges of honor. This pretty boy only cared about Shi Mengyun's beauty and her family's wealth, but he thought he could get everything he wanted just because he has a pretty face. Now he's been caught; this is the retribution he deserved."

My wife's expression became a little strange. "Honey, do you think I'm prettier or that Miss Shi?"

"See, here we go again. Do you women like asking these kinds of questions?"

"I just want to know."

"Of course you're prettier, but she's pretty." As I said the last part, I started running away.

"Hey! You stop right there!"

On the deck, a pretty woman chased after a man with no manners.

Night fell, the lights came on, and almost every corner of the ship was packed with people. Merchants were taking advantage of the last opportunity to display all the discounted goods, making it a miniature version of a small commodity market on the cruise ship. Everyone was seizing the last chance to buy a nice gift for themselves, their families, and friends. In this crowded and noisy environment, the atrium bar was like a quiet paradise. The same man in the top hat and bearded man was still passionately playing and singing on stage. After he finished, there was a sparse round of applause. I pulled my wife to find a seat.

"So there are people singing here?" my wife asked, looking bewildered.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Yes, there are plenty of elegant places on this ship, but you just prefer those places that reek of money."

"Hmph, isn't it because there are bars everywhere, and casinos are common?" my wife wrinkled her delicate nose.

We exchanged a few more words, and after Uncle Beard finished his song, we exchanged a glance, and I nodded slightly.

Suddenly, Uncle Beard picked up the microphone, stood up, and addressed the audience in English: "Good evening, everyone, whether you like my singing or not. The next song might be the most important one tonight, because this handsome gentleman is dedicating it to the beautiful lady beside him, the most important woman in his life. Please listen to 'Nothing's Gona Change My Love for You.'"

My wife's eyes widened, and she covered her mouth in disbelief, her beautiful eyes already brimming with tears. The guests around us who understood Uncle Beard's words gave us much louder applause and whistles than before. Those who didn't understand the applause also caught on and joined in the clapping. For a moment, the sound of the entire atrium bar drowned out the surrounding noise, and many tourists standing upstairs temporarily put down their purchases and squeezed to the railing to look down.

As Uncle Beard's elegant, weathered voice filled the air, my wife, an English major, naturally understood the meaning of every lyric in this classic English song. She gripped my hand tightly, gazing at me with deep affection, and sang along with Uncle Beard. Many couples around us were moved by this, unconsciously taking each other's hands. My vision blurred for a moment, so much so that I didn't even notice a blond figure wiping away tears in a corner. When

the song ended, amidst thunderous applause, my wife, completely disregarding everyone around her, suddenly threw herself into my arms, letting her emotions flow freely. At that moment, it felt like we were back at our wedding. Back then, guided by the emcee, I spouted a bunch of clichés about handing over my salary after marriage and taking care of all the housework, and then, without the emcee even preparing, I started singing "I Do" to my wife.

After I finished singing the climax of the chorus a cappella, my voice trembling with excitement, and completed this extra act, the emcee, in a flurry of activity, found Faye Wong's version online. My a cappella ended, and Faye Wong's original version followed. The perfect scene looked as if it had been rehearsed beforehand. My wife, crying, threw herself into my arms. Apparently, this scene moved many female guests in the audience to tears.

Amidst the prolonged applause of the onlookers, my wife pulled me out of the bar, eager to use the wonderful atmosphere and emotions to repay me with her body. We returned to the room and engaged in a physical and emotional fusion.

I only heard later that after we left, Uncle Beard was surrounded; he became a jukebox for couples, earning him quite a bit in tips. Heaven knows, to get him to say those things and sing that song after my arrival, I bought him two large glasses of beer, costing over a hundred RMB! Those of you who took advantage of me, don't you have any shame?

After exercising, my wife, who had been a devoted goddess, reverted to her silly, goofy self, insisting on going to the casino to win back her losses. Well, nothing can change my love for you, and nothing can change your passion for gambling.

We played roulette again, and after losing another $100, we hugged each other, laughing hysterically as we left the casino. Anyone who didn't know us would think we'd won a fortune. Our

short five-day trip came to an end. Some things happened, and we met some people during those five days. Actually, our feelings had changed a bit, though we might not have even realized it ourselves.

We finally set foot on our homeland, our hometown. We retrieved our beloved car, which had been parked in an open-air parking lot for four nights and was covered in dust. I first took Xi Jialing and her daughter home, then went to my own home, and then to my parents' house, because we needed to discuss our next trip. But when I arrived at my parents' house, I heard some bad news.

"What? Dad hurt his back? When did that happen?"

"Ask him! I wasn't home, he took a chair to get something from the top of the kitchen and fell. He didn't even tell me when I came back, he just tried to tough it out, but he couldn't take it anymore after two days. I'm your wife, how can you not trust me? I told you I'd do these things, but you wouldn't listen."

"Oh dear, I thought it was nothing. I didn't tell you because I didn't want you to worry. You have neurasthenia, you can't sleep when you're worried." Dad said, lying in bed.

"You thought? You thought I could sleep like this? I feel sorry for you, and this is how you feel sorry for me?" Mom glared at Dad, her voice trembling with tears.
