People and books about improving one's quality of life

Because I loved reading from a young age, I encountered Simone de Beauvoir's *The Second Sex* at the age of 14. What left a deep impression on me was the book's discussion of gender equality. It mentioned a Portsmouth woman rushing into a women's urinal, lifting her skirt, straddling the small, horse-back-like urinal with a round hole, and hurrying away after urinating, as if afraid of being seen. This description seemed to spark my own budding sexual desires. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the book again until I went to university, when I borrowed it from the library and studied it carefully, rediscovering those youthful stirrings.
Although I saw *The Second Sex* in bookstores many times, they were always new editions, and I had a strong sense of nostalgia, so I never bought it. One afternoon during my senior year internship, while strolling through the backstreets of the city with some classmates, I suddenly discovered a 1986 edition of *The Second Sex* published by Hunan Literature and Art Publishing House at a used bookstore. During my student years, I was always short of money. After haggling with the bookseller for about 30 minutes, I bought the book for 30 yuan. The content of the used and new books is essentially the same, but the used book satisfied my collecting desires. On my bookshelf, there's a vertical edition of *Selected Works of Mao Zedong*, a hastily printed copy of *Ordinary World*, Langwen editions of my middle and high school English textbooks (memories of the 1980s), and the Yuelu Publishing House edition of the *Four Books and Five Classics*.
Former US President Clinton was a great man. In 1993, he proposed the "Information Superhighway" plan, which brought the internet to people not only in the US but also around the world. If viewed from a historical perspective, he could even be considered on par with figures like Watt. I really like his autobiography, *My Life*, but what I enjoy reading most is the section on his sex life—*The Starr Report*. This book might not be considered a true book, but its contents reconstruct the entire process of Clinton's sexual relationships with several women. I first saw this book in someone else's possession, but thankfully, I managed to buy a copy during my senior year internship. Unfortunately, the first copy of the *Starr Report* I saw was a wide-format edition, while the one in my collection is the standard format.
In contemporary China, the two most prominent figures in sexology research are Li Ao and Li Yinhe. Li Ao's research on sex, stemming from his history background, is limited to studies of sexology in Chinese history. He also explores contemporary sexology, but this exploration is merely an expression of dissatisfaction with his society. Regarding his numerous girlfriends, those with photographs can be verified, but those identified by letters and numbers require further investigation. However, this investigation is a rather gossipy affair, best suited for casual conversation. If Li Ao's research and explanations of sex are a veil, then Li Yinhe has woven a net for us. I've read most of Li Ao's books, but fewer of Li Yinhe's, only her *Sadomasochistic Subculture*, which I also own. However, I dislike sadomasochism, so I won't elaborate. I believe many have heard of Li Yinhe's views online. I'm very grateful to her for bringing sex to the forefront of public discourse.
In 2007, British author Doris Lessing won the Nobel Prize in Literature. Because she was a feminist and also a victim of injustice against women, I wrote an article highly praising this great writer's literary journey. In 2008, regarding the nude swimming controversy in Sanya, Hainan, I wrote an article from a sexual perspective in support of her views. This article was subsequently reprinted by several online media outlets. Some people wrote articles refuting my views and offering criticisms, but it was still widely welcomed. Because I was very busy with work at the time, I didn't respond to them; otherwise, it would have sparked a heated online debate.
Writing this here is not to boast about how many books I've read, but simply to say that sex is not something that can lead to depravity. Throughout history, many prominent figures have never shied away from this issue, and it is precisely because they did not shy away from it that they became great. For ordinary people like us, improving our quality of life and making friends from all walks of life complement each other—it's a good thing.
P.S.: I've only been here a few days, and I'm just sharing some of my superficial views in the hope of attracting everyone's attention. The author mentions in the article that they don't want to publicly reveal their identity, nor disclose the title or content, hoping for understanding. Going forward, they will publish more articles reflecting on 96.
